The Digital Hopf Construction

Various concepts and constructions in homotopy theory have been defined in the digital setting. Although there have been several attempts at a definition of a fibration in the digital setting, robust examples of these digital fibrations are few and far between. In this paper, we develop a digital Hopf fibration within the category of tolerance spaces. By widening our category to that of tolerance spaces, we are able to give a construction of this digital Hopf fibration which mimics the smooth setting.

Affine Hopf fibration

An affine Hopf fibration is a fibration of n-dimensional real affine space by p-dimensional pairwise skew affine subspaces. An example is a fibration of 3-space by pairwise skew lines, the result of the central projection of the classical Hopf fibration of 3-sphere. In this expository article, we describe the solution of the following problem: for which values of n and p does an affine Hopf fibration exist? The answer is given in terms of the Hurwitz-Radon function.

Deformation and Extension of Fibrations of Spheres by Great Circles

In a 1983 paper with Frank Warner, we proved that the space of all great circle fibrations of the 3-sphere S^3 deformation retracts to the subspace of Hopf fibrations, and so has the homotopy type of a pair of disjoint two-spheres. Since that time, no generalization of this result to higher dimensions has been found, and so we narrow our sights here and show that in an infinitesimal sense explained below, the space of all smooth oriented great circle fibrations of the 2n+1 sphere S^(2n+1) deformation retracts to its subspace of Hopf fibrations. Stability and chaos in Kustaanheimo-Stiefel space induced by the Hopf fibration

The need for the extra dimension in Kustaanheimo-Stiefel (KS) regularization is explained by the topology of the Hopf fibration, which defines the geometry and structure of KS space. The Hopf Rings for KO and KU

We compute the mod two homology Hopf rings of the spectra KO and KU. The spaces in these spectra are the infinite classical groups and their coset spaces, and their homology was first calculated in the Cartan seminars, but the Hopf ring structure was first determined in the second author's unpublished PhD thesis. Hopf Invariants for sectional category with applications to topological robotics

We develop a theory of generalized Hopf invariants in the setting of sectional category. In particular we show how Hopf invariants for a product of fibrations can be identified as shuffle joins of Hopf invariants for the factors. Our results are applied in the study of Farber's topological complexity for 2-cell complexes, as well as in the construction of a counter-example to the analogue for topological complexity of Ganea's conjecture on Lusternik-Schnirelmann category.

Hopf-Galois extensions of rings generalize Galois extensions, with the coaction of a Hopf algebra replacing the action of a group. The Cayley-Dickson Construction in Homotopy Type Theory
