Theoretically, a pair of Majorana bound states in a topological superconductor forms a single fermionic level even at large separations, implying that the parity information is stored nonlocally. The nonlocality leads to a long-distance coherence for electrons tunneling through a Coulomb blockaded Majorana wire [Fu, Phys. Rev. Lett. 104, 056402 (2010)], an effect that can be observed, e.g., in an interferometer. Here, we examine theoretically the coherent electron transfer, taking into account that tunneling implies the long-distance transfer of charge, which is carried by one-dimensional plasmons. We show that the charge dynamics does not affect the coherence of the electron tunneling process in a topological superconductor consisting of a semiconductor wire proximitized by a single bulk superconductor. The coherence may be strongly suppressed, however, if the topological superconductivity derives from a semiconductor wire proximitized by a granular superconductor.
We investigate the occurrence of Majorana modes in semiconductor quantum wires in close proximity with a superconductor and when both, Rashba interaction and magnetic field, are present. We consider long, but finite, multiband wires (namely, planar wires with dimensions $L_x\gg L_y$). Our results demonstrate that interband mixing coming from Rashba spin orbit term hybridizes Majorana pairs originating from different transverse modes while simultaneously closing the effective gap. Consequently, multiple Majorana modes do not coexist in general. On the contrary, Majorana physics is robust provid…
We show that the topologically trivial zero bias peak (ZBP) emerging in semiconductor Majorana wires due to soft confinement exhibits correlated splitting oscillations as a function of the applied Zeeman field, similar to the correlated splitting of the Majorana ZBP. Also, we find that the presence of a strong impurity can effectively cut the wire in two and destroy the correlated splitting in both the trivial and the Majorana regimes. We identify a strong nonlocal effect that operates only in the topologically trivial regime and demonstrate that the dependence of the ZBP on the confining gate…
A recent experiment [Mourik et al., Science 336, 1003 (2012)] on InSb quantum wires provides possible evidence for the realization of a topological superconducting phase and the formation of Majorana bound states. Motivated by this experiment, we consider the signature of Majorana bound states in the differential tunneling conductance of multi-subband wires. We show that the weight of the Majorana-induced zero-bias peak is strongly enhanced by mixing of subbands, when disorder is added to the end of the quantum wire. We also consider how the topological phase transition is reflected in the gap…
Luttinger holes with strong Zeemann and spin-orbit interactions in a wire proximity-coupled to a superconductor is a promising system for observation of Majorana fermions. Earlier treatments of confined Luttinger holes in wires ignored a mutual transformation of heavy and light holes upon reflection from the heteroboundaries. This effect is crucial for Zeemann and spin-orbit coupling in the ground subband of holes with several spin-orbit terms linear in momentum. We discuss the criterion for realizing Majorana modes in charge carrier hole systems. GaAs or InSb hole wires shall exhibit stronger…
Proximity coupled spin-orbit quantum wires have recently been shown to support midgap Majorana states at critical points. We show that in the presence of disorder these systems are prone to the buildup of a second bandcenter anomaly, which is of different physical origin but shares key characteristics with the Majorana state: it is narrow in width, insensitive to magnetic fields, carries unit spectral weight, and is rigidly tied to the band center. Depending on the parity of the number of subgap quasiparticle states, a Majorana mode does or does not coexist with the impurity generated peak. Th…
We study Majorana zero modes properties in cylindrical cross-section semiconductor quantum wires based on the $k \cdot p$ theory and a discretized lattice model. Within this model, the influence of disorder potentials in the wire and amplitude and phase fluctuations of the superconducting order-parameter are discussed. We find that for typical wire geometries, pairing potentials, and spin-orbit coupling strengths, coupling between quasi-one-dimensional sub-bands is weak, low-energy quasiparticles near the Fermi energy are nearly completely spin-polarized, and the number of electrons in the act…
The 1D Kitaev model in the topological phase, with open boundary conditions, hosts strong Majorana zero modes. These are fermion parity-odd operators that almost commute with the Hamiltonian and manifest in long coherence times for edge degrees of freedom. We obtain higher-dimensional counterparts of such Majorana operators by explicitly computing their closed form expressions in models describing 2D and 3D higher-order superconductors. Due to the existence of such strong Majorana zero modes, the coherence time of the infinite temperature autocorrelation function of the corner Majorana operato…
Recent observation of zero bias conductance peaks in semiconductor wire/superconductor heterostructures has generated great interest, and there is a hot debate on whether the observation is associated with Majorana fermions (MFs). Here we study the local and crossed Andreev reflections in a junction of two normal leads and a sandwiched superconductor-semiconductor wire with two spatially separated but strongly coupled MF end states. The conductance and Fano factors of such a device are sharply different from the topologically trivial case even in the presence of disorder, and can hence be used…
One-dimensional topological superconductors harbor Majorana bound states at their ends. For superconducting wires of finite length L, these Majorana states combine into fermionic excitations with an energy $ε_0$ that is exponentially small in L. Weak disorder leaves the energy splitting exponentially small, but affects its typical value and causes large sample-to-sample fluctuations. We show that the probability distribution of $ε_0$ is log normal in the limit of large L, whereas the distribution of the lowest-lying bulk energy level $ε_1$ has an algebraic tail at small $ε_1$. Our findings hav…
Motivated by recent experiments, we investigate the excitation energy of a proximitized Rashba wire in the presence of a position dependent pairing. In particular, we focus on the spectroscopic pattern produced by the overlap between two Majorana bound states that appear for values of the Zeeman field smaller than the value necessary for reaching the bulk topological superconducting phase. The two Majorana bound states can arise because locally the wire is in the topological regime. We find three parameter ranges with different spectral properties: crossings, anticrossings and asymptotic reduc…
Multi-channel spin-orbit quantum wires, when subjected to a magnetic field and proximity coupled to s-wave superconductor, may support Majorana states. We study what happens to these systems in the presence of disorder. Inspired by the widely established theoretical methods of mesoscopic superconductivity, we develop a la Eilenberger a quasiclassical approach to topological nanowires valid in the limit of strong spin-orbit coupling. We find that the "Majorana number", distinguishing between the state with Majorana fermion (symmetry class B) and no Majorana (class D), is given by the product of…
We study superconducting-normal-superconducting (SNS) Josephson junctions in one-dimensional topological superconductors which support more than one Majorana end mode. The variation of the energy spectrum with the superconducting phase is investigated by combining numerical diagonalizations of tight-binding models describing the SNS junction together with an analysis of appropriate low-energy effective Hamiltonians. We show that the four pi-periodicity characteristic of the fractional dc Josephson effect is preserved. Additionally, the ideal conductance of a NS junction with a topological supr…
We investigate a system of multiple Majorana states at the end of a topological superconducting wire coupled to a normal lead. For a minimum of three Majorana fermions at the interface, we find nontrivial renormalization physics. Interface tunneling processes can be classified in terms of spin-1/2 and spin-3/2 irreducible representations of the SU(2) group. We show that the renormalization of the tunneling amplitudes belonging to different representations is completely different in that one type is suppressed, whereas the other is enhanced, depending on the sign of the interaction coupling. Th…
The electron number-parity of the ground state of a semiconductor narowire proximity-coupled to a bulk superconductor can alternate between the quantised values $\pm 1$ if parameters such as the wire length $L$, the chemical potential $μ$ or the magnetic field $B$ are varied inside the topological superconductor phase. % The parity jumps, which may be interpreted as changes in the occupancy of the fermion state formed from the pair of Majorana modes at opposite ends of the wire, are accompanied by jumps $δN$ in the charge of the nanowire, whose values decrease exponentially with the wire lengt…
Recent experimental searches for signatures of Majorana-like excitations in proximitized semiconducting nanowires involve conductance spectroscopy, where the evidence sought after is a robust zero-bias peak (in longer wires) and its characteristic field-dependent splitting (in shorter wires). Although experimental results partially confirm the theoretical predictions, commonly observed discrepancies still include (i) a zero-bias peak that is significantly lower than the predicted value of $2e^2/h$ and (ii) the absence of the expected "Majorana oscillations" of the lowest-energy modes at higher…
Majorana fermions (MFs) are predicted to occur as zero-energy bound states in semiconductor nanowire-superconductor structures. However, in the presence of disorder or smooth confining potentials, these structures can also host non-topological nearly-zero energy states. Here, we demonstrate that the MFs and the nearly-zero topologically-trivial states have different characteristic signatures in a tunneling conductance measurement, which allows to clearly discriminate between them. We also show that low-energy non-topological states can strongly hybridize with metallic states from the leads, wh…
Two majorana Fermions (MFs) localized at the two ends of the topological superconducting wire can interfere with each other and form the well known $4π$ Josephson current. We reveal that the density of states (Dos) for the electron part and the hole part also follow a parity correlated $4π$ period oscillation, while the Dos displays a $2π$ period oscillation when two trivial states interfere with each other. Thus, the period of Dos oscillation can be used to distinguish the MFs from the trivial localized states. Interestingly, such phenomena can be directly observed in a short superconducting …
Superconducting wires without time-reversal and spin-rotation symmetries can be driven into a topological phase that supports Majorana bound states. Direct detection of these zero-energy states is complicated by the proliferation of low-lying excitations in a disordered multi-mode wire. We show that the phase transition itself is signaled by a quantized thermal conductance and electrical shot noise power, irrespective of the degree of disorder. In a ring geometry, the phase transition is signaled by a period doubling of the magnetoconductance oscillations. These signatures directly follow from…
Considering Rashba quantum wires with a proximity-induced superconducting gap as physical realizations of Majorana fermions and quantum dots, we calculate the overlap of the Majorana wave functions with the local wave functions on the dot. We determine the spin-dependent tunneling amplitudes between these two localized states and show that we can tune into a fully spin polarized tunneling regime by changing the distance between dot and Majorana fermion. Upon directly applying this to the tunneling model Hamiltonian, we calculate the effective magnetic field on the quantum dot flanked by two Ma…
Spin-orbit coupled semiconducting nanowires with proximity-induced superconductivity are expected to host Majorana zero modes at their endpoints when a sufficiently strong magnetic field is applied. The resulting phase would be a one-dimensional topological superconductor. However, while a variety of experiments have been performed observing a zero bias conductance peak (suggestive of Majorana zero modes), the topological nature of these physical systems is still a subject of debate. Here we suggest a quantitative test of the degree to which a system displaying a zero bias peak may be consider…
Heterostructures of spin-orbit coupled materials with s-wave superconductors are thought to be capable of supporting zero-energy Majorana bound states. Such excitations are known to obey non-Abelian statistics in two dimensions, and are thus relevant to topological quantum computation (TQC). In a one-dimensional system, Majorana states are localized to phase boundaries. In order to bypass the constraints of one-dimension, a wire network may be created, allowing the exchange of Majoranas by way of junctions in the network. Alicea et al. have proposed such a network as a platform for TQC, showin…
We propose an Aharonov-Bohm interferometer consisted of two topological superconducting chains (TSCs) to generate coherence of Majorana qubits, each qubit is made of two Majorana zero modes (MZMs) with the definite fermion parity. We obtain the generalized exact master equation as well as its solution and study the real-time dynamics of the MZM qubit states under various operations. We demonstrate that by tuning the magnetic flux, the decoherence rates can be modified significantly, and dissipationless MZMs can be generated. By applying the bias voltage to the leads, one can manipulate MZM qub…
An $N$-channel spinless p-wave superconducting wire is known to go through a series of $N$ topological phase transitions upon increasing the disorder strength. Here, we show that at each of those transitions the density of states shows a Dyson singularity $ν(\varepsilon) \propto \varepsilon^{-1}|\ln\varepsilon|^{-3} $, whereas $ν(\varepsilon) \propto \varepsilon^{|α|-1}$ has a power-law singularity for small energies $\varepsilon$ away from the critical points. Using the concept of "superuniversality" [Gruzberg, Read, and Vishveshwara, Phys. Rev. B 71, 245124 (2005)], we are able to relate the…
We analyse the full counting statistics of charge transfer through a Majorana bound state coupled to an STM tip and show how they can be used for an unambiguous identification of the bound state at the end of the wire. Additionally, we show how to generate Majorana bound states in a simple setup involving a ferromagnetic wire on a superconducting substrate.
Braiding Majorana zero-modes around each other is a promising route towards topological quantum computing. Yet, two competing maxims emerge when implementing Majorana braiding in real systems: On the one hand, perfect braiding should be conducted adiabatically slowly to avoid non-topological errors. On the other hand, braiding must be conducted fast such that decoherence effects introduced by the environment are negligible, which are generally unavoidable in finite-size systems. This competition results in an intermediate time scale for Majorana braiding that is optimal, but generally not erro…
We represent the $\mathbb Z_2$~topological invariant characterizing a one dimensional topological superconductor using a Wess-Zumino-Witten dimensional extension. The invariant is formulated in terms of the single particle Green's function which allows to classify interacting systems. Employing a recently proposed generalized Berry curvature method, the topological invariant is represented independent of the extra dimension requiring only the single particle Green's function at zero frequency of the interacting system. Furthermore, a modified twisted boundary conditions approach is used to rig…
We investigate the Josephson current in a Fano-Josephson junction formed by the direct coupling between two topological superconducting wires and their indirect coupling via a quantum dot. It is found that when two Majorana zero modes respectively appear in the wires, the Fano interference causes abundant Josephson phase transition processes. What is notable is that in the presence of appropriate direct and indirect inter-wire couplings, the fractional Josephson effect disappears and then such a structure transforms into a $0$-phase normal Josephson junction. On the other hand, if finite coupl…
The stability of the Majorana modes in the presence of a repulsive interaction is studied in the standard semiconductor wire - metallic superconductor configuration. The effects of short-range Coulomb interaction, which is incorporated using a purely repulsive $δ$-function to model the strong screening effect due to the presence of the superconductor, are determined within a Hartree-Fock approximation of the effective Bogoliubov-De Gennes Hamiltonian that describes the low-energy physics of the wire. Through a numerical diagonalization procedure we obtain interaction corrections to the single …
We consider a model of ballistic quasi-one dimensional semiconducting wire with intrinsic spin-orbit interaction placed on the surface of a bulk s-wave superconductor (SC), in the presence of an external magnetic field. This setup has been shown to give rise to a topological superconducting state in the wire, characterized by a pair of Majorana-fermion (MF) bound states formed at the two ends of the wire. Here we demonstrate that, besides the well-known direct overlap-induced energy splitting, the two MF bound states may hybridize via elastic correlated tunneling processes through virtual quas…
Epitaxial semiconductor nanowires with charge carrier holes can exhibit an infinite mass of holes and spin-locking due to chiral spectrum linear in momentum and spin. The criterion for emergence of topological superconductivity and Majorana fermions in these wires coupled to an s-type superconductors is the same as in topological insulators, and opposite to the criterion of onset of Majorana modes in quantum wires with parabolic spectrum in the presence of spin-orbit interactions.
We consider a wire network of ferromagnetic impurities on the surface of an $s$-wave superconductor with strong Rashba spin-orbit interaction. Within the topological phase, zero-energy Majorana fermions appear at wire end-points as well as at junctions between an odd number of wire segments, while no low-energy states are present at junctions between an even number of wire segments, providing strong experimentally accessible signatures for Majorana fermions. We also investigate the quasiparticle energy gap with respect to varying the Rashba spin-orbit coupling and magnetic impurity strength.
Studies of Majorana bound states in semiconducting nanowires frequently neglect the orbital effect of magnetic field. Systematically studying its role leads us to several conclusions for designing Majoranas in this system. Specifically, we show that for experimentally relevant parameter values orbital effect of magnetic field has a stronger impact on the dispersion relation than the Zeeman effect. While Majoranas do not require a presence of only one dispersion subband, we observe that the size of the Majoranas becomes unpractically large, and the band gap unpractically small when more than on…
We show that the combination of spin-orbit coupling with a Zeeman field or strong interactions may lead to the formation of a helical liquid in single-channel quantum wires. In a helical liquid, electrons with opposite velocities have opposite spin precession. We argue that zero-energy Majorana bound states are formed in various situations when the wire is situated in proximity to a conventional s-wave superconductor. This occurs when the external magnetic field, the superconducting gap, or, in particular, the chemical potential vary along the wire. We discuss experimental consequences of the …
Topological insulator edges and spin-orbit-coupled quantum wires in proximity to s-wave super- conductors can be tuned through a topological quantum phase transition by a Zeeman field. Here we show that a supercurrent flowing in the s-wave superconductor also drives such a transition. We propose to use this new mechanism to generate and manipulate Majorana fermions that localize at domain walls between topological and nontopological regions of an edge or wire. In quantum wires, this method carries the added benefit that a supercurrent reduces the critical Zeeman field at which the topological …
We show that quasi-one-dimensional (1D) quantum wires can be written onto the surface of magnetic topological insulator (MTI) thin films by gate arrays. When the MTI is in a quantum anomalous Hall (QAH) state, MTI$/$superconductor quantum wires have especially broad stability regions for both topological and non-topological states, facilitating creation and manipulation of Majorana particles on the MTI surface.
We study coherent electronic transport through a Coulomb blockaded superconducting Rashba wire in the co-tunneling regime between conductance resonances. By varying an external Zeeman field the wire can be tuned into a topological regime, where non-local transport through Majorana zero modes is the dominant mechanism. We model coherent transport in the co-tunneling regime by using a scattering matrix formalism, and find that the transmission amplitude has a maximum as a function of Zeeman field, whose height is proportional to the wire length. We relate the transmission amplitude to the Majora…
Experimental signatures of Majorana zero modes in a single superconducting quantum wire with spin-orbit coupling have been reported as zero bias peaks in the tunneling spectroscopy. We study whether these zero modes can persist in an array of coupled wires, and if not, what their remnant could be. The bulk exhibits topologically distinct gapped phases and an intervening gapless phase. Even though the bulk pairing structure is topological, the interaction between Majorana zero modes and superfluid phases leads to spontaneous time-reversal symmetry breaking. Consequently, edge supercurrent loops…
We study a general Majorana junction, where N helical nanowires are connected to a common s-wave superconductor proximity-inducing Majorana bound states in the wires. The normal part of each wire (j=1,...,N) acts as connected lead, where electrons can tunnel into the respective Majorana state γ_{A,j}. The Majorana states at the other end, γ_{B,j}, are coupled to each other by an arbitrary tunnel matrix. We examine the conditions for even-odd parity effects in the tunnel conductance for various junction topologies.
The excitation gap above the Majorana fermion (MF) modes at the ends of 1D topological superconducting (TS) semiconductor wires scales with the bulk quasiparticle gap E_{qp}. This gap, also called minigap, facilitates experimental detection of the pristine TS state and MFs at experimentally accessible temperatures T << E_{qp}. Here we show that the linear scaling of minigap with E_{qp} can fail in quasi-1D wires with multiple confinement bands when the applied Zeeman field is greater than or equal to about half of the confinement-induced bandgap. TS states in such wires have an approximate chi…
I consider a model of two thin superconducting wires interacting through Josephson tunneling and Coulomb interactions. It is shown that there is a parameter range where such a model may have two ground states with different types of quasi-long-range order: one is superconducting and the other is pair density wave. It is further shown that boundaries between these different phases support zero energy Majorana modes and that these modes are robust against disorder.
We describe Majorana edge states of a semi-infinite wire using the complex band structure approach. In this method the edge state at a given energy is built as a superposition of evanescent waves. It is shown that the superposition can not always satisfy the required boundary condition, thus restricting the existence of edge modes. We discuss purely 1D and 2D systems, focussing in the latter case on the effect of the Rashba mixing term.
In the topological phase of p-wave superconductors, zero-energy Majorana quasi-particle excitations can be well-defined in the presence of local density-density interactions. Here we examine this phenomenon from the perspective of matrix representations of the commutator $\mathcal{H} =[H,\bullet]$ ,with the aim of characterising the multi-particle content of the many-body Majorana mode. To do this we show that, for quadratic fermionic systems, $\mathcal{H}$ can always be decomposed into sub-blocks that act as multi-particle generalisations of the BdG/Majorana forms that encode single-particle …
It has been proposed that localized zero-energy Majorana states can be realized in a two-dimensional network of quasi-one-dimensional semiconductor wires that are proximity-coupled to a bulk superconductor. The wires should have strong spin-orbit coupling with appropriate symmetry, and their electrons should be partially polarized by a strong Zeeman field. Then, if the Fermi level is in an appropriate range, the wire can be in a topological superconducting phase, with Majorana states that occur at wire ends and at $Y$ junctions, where three topological superconductor segments may be joined. He…
Recent tunneling experiments on InSb hybrid superconductor-semiconductor devices have provided hope for a stabilization of Majorana edge modes in a spin-orbit quantum wire subject to a magnetic field and superconducting proximity effect. Connecting the experimental scenario with a microscopic description poses challenges of different kind, such as accounting for the effect of interactions on the tunneling properties of the wire. We develop a density matrix renormalization group (DMRG) analysis of the tunneling spectra of interacting Majorana chains, which we explicate for the Kitaev chain mode…
We investigate quantum transport through a quantum dot connected to source and drain leads and side-coupled to a topological superconducting nanowire (Kitaev chain) sustaining Majorana end modes. Using a recursive Green's function approach, we determine the local density of states (LDOS) of the system and find that the end Majorana mode of the wire leaks into the dot thus emerging as a unique dot level {\it pinned} to the Fermi energy $\varepsilon_F$ of the leads. Surprisingly, this resonance pinning, resembling in this sense a "Kondo resonance", occurs even when the gate-controlled dot level …
We study transport through a Coulomb blockaded topologically nontrivial superconducting wire (with Majorana end states) contacted by metallic leads. An exact formula for the current through this interacting Majorana single-charge transistor is derived in terms of wire spectral functions. A comprehensive picture follows from three different approaches. We find Coulomb oscillations with universal halving of the finite-temperature peak conductance under strong blockade conditions, where the valley conductance mainly comes from elastic cotunneling. The nonlinear conductance exhibits finite-voltage…
We study a one-dimensional wire with strong Rashba and Dresselhaus spin-orbit coupling (SOC), which supports Majorana fermions when subject to a Zeeman magnetic field and in proximity of a superconductor. Using both analytical and numerical techniques we calculate the electronic spin texture of the Majorana end states. We find that the spin polarization of these states depends on the relative magnitude of the Rashba and Dresselhaus SOC components. Moreover, we define and calculate a local "Majorana polarization" and "Majorana density" and argue that they can be used as order parameters to char…
One of the simplest proposed experimental probes of a Majorana bound-state is a quantized (2e^2/h) value of zero-bias tunneling conductance. When temperature is somewhat larger than the intrinsic width of the Majorana peak, conductance is no longer quantized, but a zero-bias peak can remain. Such a non-quantized zero-bias peak has been recently reported for semiconducting nanowires with proximity induced superconductivity. In this paper we analyze the relation of the zero-bias peak to the presence of Majorana end-states, by simulating the tunneling conductance for multi-band wires with realist…
One-dimensional p-wave superconductors are known to harbor Majorana bound states at their ends. Superconducting wires with a finite width W may have fermionic subgap states in addition to possible Majorana end states. While they do not necessarily inhibit the use of Majorana end states for topological computation, these subgap states can obscure the identification of a topological phase through a density-of-states measurement. We present two simple models to describe low-energy fermionic subgap states. If the wire's width W is much smaller than the superconductor coherence length ξ, the releva…
We study Landau-Zener dynamics in a double quantum dot filled with two electrons, where the spin states can become correlated with charge states and the level velocity can be tuned in a time-dependent fashion. We show that a correct interpretation of experimental data is only possible when finite-time effects are taken into account. In addition, our formalism allows the study of partial adiabatic dynamics in the presence of phonon-mediated hyperfine relaxation and charge-noise-induced dephasing. Our findings demonstrate that charge noise severely impacts the visibility of Landau-Zener-Stückelb…
We introduce a promising new platform for Majorana zero-modes and various spintronics applications based on gate-defined wires in HgTe quantum wells. Due to the Dirac-like band structure for HgTe the physics of such systems differs markedly from that of conventional quantum wires. Most strikingly, we show that the subband parameters for gate-defined HgTe wires exhibit exquisite tunability: modest gate voltage variation allows one to modulate the Rashba spin-orbit energies from zero up to ~30K, and the effective g-factors from zero up to giant values exceeding 600. The large achievable spin-orb…
In this work we investigate Majorana correlations in quantum impurities coupled to a topological superconducting wire. By employing a density matrix renormalization group approach, we have calculated the Majorana correlation functions in the ground state of the system for different positions of the impurities along the wire. We observe that the correlations decreases exponentially with the distance between the impurities and the ends of the wire. Moreover, different electron-electron interactions on the wire and on the impurities were also analyzed, and the results showed a stronger effect as …
We study the dynamics of Majorana zero modes that are shuttled via local tuning of the electrochemical potential in a superconducting wire. By performing time-dependent simulations of microscopic lattice models, we show that diabatic corrections associated with the moving Majorana modes are quantitatively captured by a simple Landau-Zener description. We further simulate a Rabi-oscillation protocol in a specific qubit design with four Majorana zero modes in a single wire and quantify constraints on the timescales for performing qubit operations in this setup. Our simulations utilize a Majorana…
