Jordan decomposition and the recurrent set of flows of automorphisms

In this paper we show that any linear vector field $\mathcal{X}$ on a connected Lie group $G$ admits a Jordan decomposition and the recurrent set of the associated ow of automorphisms is given as the intersection of the fixed points of the hyperbolic and nilpotent components of its Jordan decomposition.

Automorphisms of $\mathbb C^k$ with an invariant non-recurrent attracting Fatou component biholomorphic to $\mathbb C\times (\mathbb C^\ast)^{k-1}$

We prove the existence of automorphisms of $\mathbb C^k$, $k\ge 2$, having an invariant, non-recurrent Fatou component biholomorphic to $\mathbb C \times (\mathbb C^\ast)^{k-1}$ which is attracting, in the sense that all the orbits converge to a fixed point on the boundary of the component. Such a Fatou component also avoids $k$ analytic discs intersecting transversally at the fixed point. As a corollary, we obtain a Runge copy of $\mathbb C \times (\mathbb C^\ast)^{k-1}$ in $\mathbb C^k$.

Homeomorphisms of unimodal inverse limit spaces with a non-recurrent postcritical point

Jordan decomposition and dynamics on flag manifolds

Let $\g$ be a semisimple Lie algebra and $G = \Int(\g)$. In this article, we relate the Jordan decomposition of $X \in \g$ (or $g \in G$) with the dynamics induced on generalized flag manifolds by the right invariant continuous-time flow generated by $X$ (or the discrete-time flow generated by $g$). We characterize the recurrent set and the finest Morse decomposition (including its stable sets) of these flows and show that its entropy always vanishes. Dynamics on an infinite surface with the lattice property

Dynamical systems on an infinite translation surface with the lattice property are studied. The geodesic flow on this surface is found to be recurrent in all but countably many rational directions. Hyperbolic elements of the affine automorphism group are found to be nonrecurrent, and a precise formula regarding their action on cylinders is proven. A deformation of the surface in the space of translation surfaces is found, which "behaves nicely" with the geodesic flow and action of the affine automorphism group.
