Coverings and Actions of Structured Lie Groupoids I

In this work we deal with coverings and actions of Lie group- groupoids being a sort of the structured Lie groupoids. Firstly, we define an action of a Lie group-groupoid on some Lie group and the smooth coverings of Lie group-groupoids. Later, we show the equivalence of the category of smooth actions of Lie group-groupoids on Lie groups and the category of smooth cov- erings of Lie group-groupoids. Further, we prove a theorem which denotes how is obtained a covering Lie group-groupoid and a smooth covering morphism of Lie group-groupoids from a Lie group-groupoid.

Covering spaces of character varieties

Let F be a finitely generated discrete group. Given a covering map H to G of Lie groups with G either compact or complex reductive, there is an induced covering map Hom(F, H) to Hom(F, G). We show that when the fundamental group of G is torsion-free and F is free, free Abelian, or the fundamental group of a closed Riemann surface M of genus g, this map induces a covering map between the corresponding moduli spaces of representations. Trace map, Cayley transform and LS category of Lie groups

The aim of this paper is to use the so-called Cayley transform to compute the LS category of Lie groups and homogeneous spaces by giving explicit categorical open coverings. When applied to U(n), $U(2n)/Sp(n)$ and $U(n)/O(n)$ this method is simpler than those formerly known. We also show that the Cayley transform is related to height functions in Lie groups, allowing to give a local linear model of the set of critical points. As an application we give an explicit covering of $Sp(2)$ by categorical open sets. The obstacles to generalize these results to $Sp(n)$ are discussed.

Covering morphisms of crossed complexes and of cubical omega-groupoids with connection are closed under tensor product

The aim is the theorems of the title and the corollary that the tensor product of two free crossed resolutions of groups or groupoids is also a free crossed resolution of the product group or groupoid. The route to this corollary is through the equivalence of the category of crossed complexes with that of cubical omega-groupoids with connections where the initial definition of the tensor product lies. It is also in the latter category that we are able to apply techniques of dense subcategories to identify the tensor product of covering morphisms as a covering morphism.
