We study the functional calculus associated with a hypoelliptic left-invariant differential operator $\mathcal{L}$ on a connected and simply connected nilpotent Lie group $G$ with the aid of the corresponding \emph{Rockland} operator $\mathcal{L}_0$ on the `local' contraction $G_0$ of $G$, as well as of the corresponding Rockland operator $\mathcal{L}_\infty$ on the `global' contraction $G_\infty$ of $G$.
We provide asymptotic estimates of the Riesz potentials associated with $\mathcal{L}$ at $0$ and at $\infty$, as well as of the kernels associated with functions of $\mathcal{L}$ satisfying Mihlin conditions of every order.
We also prove some Mihlin-Hörmander multiplier theorems for $\mathcal{L}$ which generalize analogous results to the non-homogeneous case.
Finally, we extend the asymptotic study of the density of the `Plancherel measure' associated with $\mathcal{L}$ from the case of a quasi-homogeneous sub-Laplacian to the case of a quasi-homogeneous sum of even powers.
Let $\mathfrak{g}$ be a nilpotent Lie algebra which is also regarded as a homogeneous Lie group with the Campbell-Hausdorff multiplication. This allows to define a generalized multiplication $f \# g = (f^{\vee} * g^{\vee})^{\wedge}$ of two functions in the Schwartz class $\mathcal{S}(\mathfrak{g}^{*})$, where $\vee$ and $\wedge$ are the Abelian Fourier transforms on the Lie algebra $\mathfrak{g}$ and on the dual $\mathfrak{g}^{*}$. In the operator analysis on nilpotent Lie groups an important notion is the one of symbolic calculus which can be viewed as a higher order generalization of the Wey…
We characterize the Archimedean vector lattices that admit a positively homogeneous continuous function calculus by showing that the following two conditions are equivalent for each $n$-tuple $\boldsymbol{x} = (x_1,\ldots,x_n)\in X^n$, where $X$ is an Archimedean vector lattice and $n\in\mathbb N$: - there is a vector lattice homomorphism $Φ_{\boldsymbol{x}}\colon H_n\to X$ such that $Φ_{\boldsymbol{x}}(π_i^{(n)})=x_i$ $(i\in\{1,\ldots,n\})$, where $H_n$ denotes the vector lattice of positively homogeneous, continuous, real-valued functions defined on $\mathbb R^n$ and $π_i^{(n)}\colon\mathbb …
Let $G$ be a nilpotent Lie group and let $π$ be a coherent state representation of $G$. The interplay between the cyclicity of the restriction $π|_Γ$ to a lattice $Γ\leq G$ and the completeness of subsystems of coherent states based on a homogeneous $G$-space is considered. In particular, it is shown that necessary density conditions for Perelomov's completeness problem can be obtained via density conditions for the cyclicity of $π|_Γ$.
Let $\mathcal K$ be a flag kernel on a homogeneous nilpotent Lie group $G$. We prove that operators $T$ of the form $T(f)= f*\mathcal K$ form an algebra under composition, and that such operators are bounded on $L^{p}(G)$ for $1<p<\infty$.
In this paper, we present first results of our investigation regarding symbolic pseudo-differential calculi on nilpotent Lie groups. On any graded Lie group, we define classes of symbols using difference operators. The operators are obtained from these symbols via the natural quantisation given by the representation theory. They form an algebra of operators which shares many properties with the usual Hormander calculus.
We produce, on general homogeneous groups, an analogue of the usual Hörmander pseudodifferential calculus on Euclidean space, at least as far as products and adjoints are concerned. In contrast to earlier works, we do not limit ourselves to analogues of classical symbols, nor to the Heisenberg group. The key technique is to understand ``multipliers'' of any given order j, and the operators of convolution with their inverse Fourier transforms, which we here call convolution operators of order j. (Here a ``multiplier'' is an analogue of a Hörmander-type symbol a(x,ξ), which is independent of x.)…
We give relations between main operators of quantum mechanics on one of most general classes of nilpotent Lie groups. Namely, we show relations between momentum and position operators as well as Euler and Coulomb potential operators on homogeneous groups. Homogeneous group analogues of some well-known inequalities such as Hardy's inequality, Heisenberg-Kennard type and Heisenberg-Pauli-Weyl type uncertainty inequalities, as well as Caffarelli-Kohn-Nirenberg inequality are derived, with best constants. The obtained relations yield new results already in the setting of both isotropic and anisotr…
We develop our earlier approach to the Weyl calculus for representations of infinite-dimensional Lie groups by establishing continuity properties of the Moyal product for symbols belonging to various modulation spaces. For instance, we prove that the modulation space of symbols $M^{\infty,1}$ is an associative Banach algebra and the corrresponding operators are bounded. We then apply the abstract results to two classes of representations, namely the unitary irreducible representations of nilpotent Lie groups, and the natural representations of the semidirect product groups that govern the magn…
We develop an abstract framework for the investigation of quantization and dequantization procedures based on orthogonality relations that do not necessarily involve group representations. To illustrate the usefulness of our abstract method we show that it behaves well with respect to the infinite tensor products. This construction subsumes examples coming from the study of magnetic Weyl calculus, the magnetic pseudo-differential Weyl calculus, the metaplectic representation on locally compact abelian groups, irreducible representations associated with finite-dimensional coadjoint orbits of so…
We prove that the flag kernel singular integral operators of Nagel-Ricci-Stein on a homogeneous group are bounded on the Lp spaces. The gradation associated with the kernels is the natural gradation of the underlying Lie algebra. Our main tools are the Littlewood-Paley theory and a symbolic calculus combined in the spirit of Duoandikoetxea and Rubio de Francia.
We prove $L^{p}$-Caffarelli-Kohn-Nirenberg type inequalities on homogeneous groups, which is one of most general subclasses of nilpotent Lie groups, all with sharp constants. We also discuss some of their consequences. Already in the abelian case of $\mathbb{R}^{n}$ our results provide new insights in view of the arbitrariness of the choice of the not necessarily Euclidean quasi-norm.
Let $L$ be the homogeneous sublaplacian on the 6-dimensional free 2-step nilpotent group $N_{3,2}$ on 3 generators. We prove a theorem of Mihlin-Hörmander type for the functional calculus of $L$, where the order of differentiability $s > 6/2$ is required on the multiplier.
We study homogeneous Besov and Triebel--Lizorkin spaces defined on doubling metric measure spaces in terms of a self-adjoint operator whose heat kernel satisfies Gaussian estimates together with its derivatives. When the measure space is a smooth manifold and such operator is a sum of squares of smooth vector fields, we prove that their intersection with $L^\infty$ is an algebra for pointwise multiplication. Our results apply to nilpotent Lie groups and Grushin settings.
We construct a calculus for generalized $\mathbf{SG}$ Fourier integral operators, extending known results to a broader class of symbols of $\mathbf{SG}$ type. In particular, we do not require that the phase functions are homogeneous. We also prove the $L^2(\mathbf{R}^{d})$-boundedness of the generalized $\mathbf{SG}$ Fourier integral operators having regular phase functions and amplitudes uniformly bounded on $\mathbf{R}^{2d}$.
We give sharp remainder terms of $L^{p}$ and weighted Hardy and Rellich inequalities on one of most general subclasses of nilpotent Lie groups, namely the class of homogeneous groups. As consequences, we obtain analogues of the generalised classical Hardy and Rellich inequalities and the uncertainty principle on homogeneous groups. We also prove higher order inequalities of Hardy-Rellich type, all with sharp constants. A number of identities are derived including weighted and higher order types.
In this note we present a symbolic pseudo-differential calculus on graded nilpotent Lie groups and, as an application, a version of the sharp Garding inequality. As a corollary, we obtain lower bounds for positive Rockland operators with variable coefficients as well as their Schwartz-hypoellipticity.
