The Bethe-Salpeter equation for two massive scalar particles interacting by scalar massless exchange has solutions of two types, which differ from each other by their behavior in the non-relativistic limit: the normal solutions which turn into the Coulomb ones and the "abnormal" solutions. The latter ones have no non-relativistic counterparts and disappear in the non-relativistic limit. We studied the composition of all these states. It turns out that the normal states, even for large binding energy, are dominated by two massive particles. Whereas, the contribution of the two-body sector into the abnormal states, even for small binding energy, is of the order of 1% only; they are dominated by an indefinite number of the massless particles. The elastic electromagnetic form factors for both normal and abnormal states, as well as the transition ones between them, are calculated.
We study the wave functions and purely leptonic decays of $b$-flavored mesons (pseudoscalars, vector mesons, and higher excited states that are well established in experiment) in the relativistic potential model based on our previous works. The wave functions are obtained by solving the wave equation including the spin-spin and spin-orbit corrections in the effective potential. The decay constants of $B$, $B^*$ and some of their excited states that have been found in experiment are calculated with these wave functions. Then the branching fractions of the purely leptonic decay modes of these bo…
A new resummation of the $S$-factor of a composite system of two relativistic spin-1/2 particles of arbitrary masses interacting via a Coulomb-like chromodynamical potential is presented. The analysis is performed in the framework of a relativistic quasipotential approach based on the Hamiltonian formulation of the covariant quantum field theory in the relativistic configuration representation. The pseudoscalar, vector, and pseudovector systems are considered and the behaviour of the $S$-factor near the threshold and in the relativistic limit is investigated in detail. The spin dependence of t…
In the production or annihilation of a pair of fermions, the initial-state or final-state interactions often lead to significant effects on the reaction cross sections. For Coulomb-type interactions, the Gamow factor has been traditionally used to take into account these effects. However the Gamow factor needs to be modified when the magnitude of the coupling constant or the relative velocity of two particles increases. We obtain the relativistic generalization of the Gamow factor in terms of the overlap of the Feynman amplitude with the relativistic wave function of two fermions with an attra…
The existing transformation from a relativistic real scalar field to a complex non-relativistic scalar field by Namjoo, Guth, and Kaiser is generalized from Minkowski space to a more general background metric. In that case the transformation is not purely algebraic any more but determined by a differential equation. We apply the generalized transformation to a real scalar with $ϕ^4$ interaction on an Friedmann-Lemaître-Robertson-Walker cosmologically expanding background and calculate the resulting non-relativistic action up to second order in small parameters. We also show that the transforma…
We utilize a light-front relativistic quark model (LF RQM) to predict the 3q core contribution to the electroexcitation amplitudes for the Delta(1232)P33, N(1440)P11, N(1520)D13, and N(1535)S11 up to Q2= 12GeV2. The parameters of the model have been specified via description of the nucleon electromagnetic form factors in the approach that combines 3q and pion-cloud contributions in the LF dynamics.
We briefly describe our relativistic quark-diquark model, developed within the framework of point form dynamics, which is the relativistic extension of the interacting quark-diquark model. In order to do that we have to show the main properties and quantum numbers of the effective degree of freedom of constituent diquark. Our results for the nonstrange baryon spectrum and for the nucleon electromagnetic form factors are discussed.
In this work, we derive the nuclear form factor for the spin-independent collision between the WIMPs and nucleus in terms of the relativistic mean field (RMF) theory. Comparison with the traditional form factors which are commonly used in literature is given and it is found that our results are slightly above that of the 2PF model by 4% to 8%, but deviate from the Helm form factor by 15% to 25% for the whole recoil energy spectrum of 0$\sim $ 100 keV. Moreover, taking Xe and Ge as examples, we show the dependence of the form factor on the recoil energy.
Calculations of form factors in different forms of relativistic kinematics are presented. They involve the instant, front and point forms. In the two first cases, different kinematical conditions are considered while in the latter case, both a Dirac-inspired approach and a hyperplane-based one are incorporated in our study. Numerical results are presented for the pion form factors with emphasis on both the low and high Q**2 range. A new argument is presented, explaining why some approaches do considerably much better than other ones whenonly a single-particle current is considered.
We study the effects of the | qqq q\bar{q} > component of the hadronic wave function on the description of the electromagnetic structure of the nucleon. Starting with a qqq baryonic wave function which describes the baryonic and mesonic low energy spectrum, the extra q\bar{q} pair is generated through a relativistic version of the 3P_0 model. It is shown that this model leads to a renormalization of the quark mass that allows one to construct a conserved electromagnetic current. We conclude that these dynamical relativistic corrections play an important role in reproducing the Q2 dependence of…
We investigate transition form factors between non-relativistic QCD bound states at large recoil energy. Assuming the decaying quark to be much heavier than its decay product, the relativistic dynamics can be treated according to the factorization formula for heavy-to-light form factors obtained from the heavy-quark expansion in QCD. The non-relativistic expansion determines the bound-state wave functions to be Coulomb-like. As a consequence, one can explicitly calculate the so-called ``soft-overlap'' contribution to the transition form factor.
Relativistic integral representation in terms of experimental neutron-proton scattering phase shifts is used to compute the charge form factor of the deuteron $ G_{Cd}(Q^2)$. The results of numerical calculations of $|G_{Cd}(Q^2)|$ are presented in the interval of the four-momentum transfers squared $0 \leq Q^2 \leq 35 fm^{-2}$. Zero and the prominent secondary maximum in $|G_{Cd}(Q^2)|$ are the direct consequences of the change of sign in the experimental $^3S_1 $- phase shifts. Till the point $Q^2 \simeq 20 fm^{-2}$ the calculated total relativistic correction to $|G_{Cd}(Q^2)|$ is positive …

Electromagnetic and Lorentz-scalar form factors are calculated for a bound system of two spin-less particles exchanging a zero-mass scalar particle. Different approaches are considered including solutions of a Bethe-Salpeter equation, a ``point form'' approach to relativistic quantum mechanics and a non-relativistic one. The comparison of the Bethe-Salpeter results, which play the role of an ``experiment'' here, with the ones obtained in ``point form'' in single-particle approximation, evidences sizable discrepancies, pointing to large contributions from two-body currents in the latter approac…
We discuss properties and applications of factorial cumulants of various particle numbers and for their mixed channels measured by the event-by-event analysis in relativistic heavy-ion collisions. After defining the factorial cumulants for systems with multi-particle species, their properties are elucidated. The uses of the factorial cumulants in the study of critical fluctuations are discussed. We point out that factorial cumulants play useful roles in understanding fluctuation observables when they have underlying physics approximately described by the binomial distribution. As examples, we …
In the limit of short mean free path, relativistic kinetic theory gives rise to hydrodynamics through a systematically improvable gradient expansion. In the present work, a systematically improvable expansion in the opposite limit of large mean free path is considered, describing the dynamics of particles which are almost, but not quite, non-interacting. This non-hydrodynamic "eremitic" expansion does not break down for large gradients, and may be useful in situations where a hydrodynamic treatment is not applicable. As applications, azimuthal anisotropies at high transverse momentum in Pb+Pb …
A QCD multiquark cluster system is studied in the relativistic harmonic oscillator potential model (RHOPM), and the electromagnetic form factors of the pion, proton and deuteron in the RHOPM are predicted. The calculated theoretical results are then compared with existing experimental data, finding very good agreement between the theoretical predictions and experimental data for these three target particles. We claim that this model can be applied to study QCD hadronic properties, particularly neutron properties, and to find six-quark cluster and/or nine-quark cluster probabilities in light nu…
The form factor of hadronic systems in various forms of relativistic quantum mechanics is considered. Motivated by the agreement of the nucleon ``point-form'' results with experiment, results for a toy model corresponding to the simplest Feynman diagram are first presented. These ones include the results for this diagram, which plays the role of an experiment, for the front-form and instant-form in standard kinematics (q^+=0 and Breit frame), but also in unconventional kinematics and finally a Dirac's point-form inspired approach. Results for an earlier ``point-form'' approach are reminded. Re…
Invariance of form factors under Lorentz boosts is a criterion often advocated to determine whether their estimate in a RQM framework is reliable. It is shown that verifying relations stemming from covariance properties under space-time translations could be a more important criterion. Form factors calculated in different approaches for a simple system are discussed with these various respects. An approximate method is shown to remove the main discrepancies related to a violation of the above relations.
We obtain the electromagnetic form factors of the $γNΔ$ transition by analyzing recent pion-electroproduction data using a fully relativistic dynamical model. Special care is taken to satisfy Ward-Takahashi identities for the Born term in the presence of form factors thereby allowing the use of realistic electromagnetic form factors of the nucleon and pion. We parametrize the $Q^2$ dependence of the {\it bare} $γN Δ$ form factors by a three-parameter form which is consistent with the asymptotic behavior inferred from QCD. The parameters of the bare $γN Δ$ form factors are the only free paramet…
We compute the Omega- electromagnetic form factors and the decuplet baryon magnetic moments using a quark model application of the Covariant Spectator Theory. Our predictions for the Omega- electromagnetic form factors can be tested in the future by lattice QCD simulations at the physical strange quark mass.
The role of Poincaré covariant space-time translations is investigated in the case of the pseudoscalar-meson charge form factors calculated within a relativistic quantum mechanics framework. It is shown that this role extends beyond the standard energy-momentum conservation, which is accounted for in all works based on this general approach. It implies constraints that have been largely ignored until now but should be nevertheless fulfilled to ensure the full Poincaré covariance. The violation of these constraints, which is more or less important depending on the form of relativistic quantum m…
The electromagnetic form factors of the nucleon are calculated at order $q^4$ in the relativistic formulation of baryon chiral perturbation theory. In order to obtain a consistent power counting for the renormalized diagrams we make use of the extended on-mass-shell renormalization scheme which we have discussed in a recent paper. We analyze the Dirac and Pauli form factors, $F_1$ and $F_2$, as well as the electric and magnetic Sachs form factors, $G_E$ and $G_M$. Our results are compared with those obtained in the heavy-baryon approach and in the (relativistic) infrared regularization. In add…
We consider an imperfect relativistic fluid which develops a shock wave and discuss its structure and thickness, taking into account the effects of viscosity and heat conduction in the form of sound absorption. The junction conditions and the non linear equations describing the evolution of the shock are derived with the corresponding Newtonian limit discussed in detail. As happens in the non relativistic regime, the thickness is inversely proportional to the discontinuity in the pressure, but new terms of purely relativistic origin are present. Particularizing for a polytropic gas, it is foun…
We present results for the isotriplet and isosinglet tensor form factors of the nucleon in the relativistic confined quark model. The model allows us to calculate not only their normalizations at $Q^2=0$ and the related tensor charges, but also the full $Q^2$-dependence. Our results are compared to existing data and predictions of other theoretical approaches. We stress the importance of these form factors for the phenomenology of physics beyond the Standard Model.
The main assumption of the model is that in soft processes mesons behave like systems made of valence quarks and an effective vacuum- like field. The 4-momentum of the latter represents the relativistic generalization of the potential energy. The electromagnetic form factors are expressed in terms of the overlap integral of the initial and final wave functions written under the form of Lorentz covariant distribution of quark momenta. The calculation is fully Lorentz covariant and the form factors of the charged mesons are normalized to unity at t=0.
We report a theoretical study of the axial Nucleon to Delta(1232) ($N\toΔ$) transition form factors up to one-loop order in relativistic baryon chiral perturbation theory. We adopt a formalism in which the $Δ$ couplings obey the spin-3/2 gauge symmetry and, therefore, decouple the unphysical spin-1/2 fields. We compare the results with phenomenological form factors obtained from neutrino bubble chamber data and in quark models.
Cosmological $N$-body simulations are typically purely run with particles using Newtonian equations of motion. However, such simulations can be made fully consistent with general relativity using a well-defined prescription. Here, we extend the formalism previously developed for $Λ$CDM cosmologies with massless neutrinos to include the effects of massive, but light neutrinos. We have implemented the method in two different $N$-body codes, CONCEPT and PKDGRAV, and demonstrate that they produce consistent results. We furthermore show that we can recover all appropriate limits, including the full…
We extend our relativistic theory of electroweak properties of composite systems to describe simultaneously the gravitational form factors of hadrons. The approach is based on a version of the instant-form relativistic quantum mechanics and makes use of the modified impulse approximation. We exploit the general method of the relativistic invariant parametrizaton of local operators to write the energy-momentum tensor of a particle with an arbitrary spin. We use the obtained results to calculate the gravitational form factors of the pion assuming point-like constituent quarks. All but one parame…
The electromagnetic form factor of the pion is calculated in the "point-form" of relativistic quantum mechanics using simple, phenomenological wave functions. It is found that the squared charge radius of the pion is predicted one order of magnitude larger than the experimental value and the asymptotic behavior expected from QCD cannot be reproduced. The origin of these discrepancies is analyzed. The present results confirm previous ones obtained from a theoretical model and call for major improvements in the implementation of the "point-form" approach.
We investigate electromagnetic and weak form factors of heavy-light mesons in the context of point-form relativistic quantum mechanics. To this aim we treat the physical processes from which such electroweak form factors are extracted by means of a coupled channel approach which accounts for the dynamics of the intermediate gauge bosons. It is shown that heavy-quark symmetry is respected by this formulation. A simple analytical expression is obtained for the Isgur-Wise function in the heavy-quark limit. Breaking of heavy-quark symmetry due to realistic values of the heavy-quark mass are studie…
Results for the proton and neutron electric and magnetic form factors as well as the nucleon axial form factor are presented for constituent quark models, based on either one-gluon-exchange and Goldstone-boson-exchange dynamics. The calculations are performed in a covariant framework using the point-form approach to relativistic quantum mechanics. The only input to the calculations is the nucleon wave function of the corresponding constituent quark model. A comparison is given to results of the instanton-induced constituent quark model treated with the Bethe-Salpeter equation.

The space-like electromagnetic form factor is expressed in terms of the overlap integral of the initial and final meson wave functions written as Lorentz covariant distributions of internal momenta. The meson constituents are assumed to be valence quarks and an effective vacuum-like field. The momentum of the latter represents a relativistic generalization of the potential energy of the quark system. The calculation is fully Lorentz covariant and the form factors of the charged mesons are normalized to unity at t=0. The numerical results have been obtained by freezing the transverse degrees of…
We calculate the relativistic correction to $J/ψ$ production in the color-singlet process $e^{+}e^{-}\to J/ψ+gg$ at B-factories. We employ the non-relativistic QCD (NRQCD) factorization approach, where the short-distance coefficients are calculated perturbatively and the long-distance matrix elements are extracted from the decays of $J/ψ$ into $e^{+}e^{-}$ and light hadrons. We find that the $O(v^2)$ relativistic correction can enhance the cross section by a factor of 20-30%, comparable to the enhancement due to the $O(α_s)$ radiative correction obtained earlier. Combining the relativistic cor…
We report on a lattice-QCD calculation of the B to pi l nu form factor with domain-wall light quarks and relativistic b-quarks using the 2 + 1 flavor domain-wall fermion and Iwasaki gauge-field ensembles generated by the RBC and UKQCD Collaborations. We present initial results obtained from the coarser (a ~ 0.11 fm) 24^3 lattices and some of the finer (a ~ 0.086 fm) 32^3 lattices.
We investigated the form factors of the $B_{c}$ meson into $P$-wave orbitally excited charmonium using the nonrelativistic QCD effective theory. Through the analytic computation, the next-to-leading order relativistic corrections to the form factors were obtained, and the asymptotic expressions were studied in the infinite bottom quark mass limit. Employing the general form factors, we discussed the exclusive decays of the $B_{c}$ meson into $P$-wave orbitally excited charmonium and a light meson. We found that the relativistic corrections lead to a large correction for the form factors, which…
