During the era of primordial nucleosynthesis the background of non-equilibrium antineutrinos is being formed due to decays of neutrons and nuclei of tritium. The spectra of antineutrinos of this background were calculated taking into account the Coulomb interaction between electron and daughter nucleus in $β^-$-decay. The dependence of these spectra on the value of the baryon-to-photon ratio $η$ at the period of primordial nucleosynthesis is investigated. The observations of these antineutrinos will allow us to look directly at the very early Universe and nonequilibrium processes taken place before, during, and some time after primordial nucleosynthesis. In any case, this phenomenon is one more aspect in the picture of the standard cosmological model.
Matter-enhanced antineutrino flavor transformation between $\barν_e$ and $\barν_{μ(τ)}$ can occur in supernovae if the vacuum masses for these species satisfy $m_{\barν_e}>m_{\barν_{μ(τ)}}$. For $δm^2> 1$ eV$^2$, such flavor transformation can affect the electron fraction $Y_e$ in the neutrino-heated supernova ejecta. We point out that such flavor transformation will not drive $Y_e>0.5$ at the $r$-process nucleosynthesis epoch in the best available supernova model for such nucleosynthesis. Consequently, there is no obvious conflict between matter-enhanced antineutrino flavor transformation $\b…
The success of primordial nucleosynthesis has been limited by the long-standing Lithium problem. We use a self-consistent perturbative analysis of the effects of relevant theoretical parameters on primordial nucleosynthesis, including variations of nature's fundamental constants, to explore the problem and its possible solutions, in the context of the latest observations and theoretical modeling. We quantify the amount of depletion needed to solve the Lithium problem, and show that transport processes of chemical elements in stars are able to account for it. Specifically, the combination of at…
Primordial nucleosynthesis is an observational cornerstone of the Hot Big Bang model and a sensitive probe of physics beyond the standard model. Its success has been limited by the so-called Lithium problem, for which many solutions have been proposed. We report on a self-consistent perturbative analysis of the effects of variations in nature's fundamental constants, which are unavoidable in most extensions of the standard model, on primordial nucleosynthesis, focusing on a broad class of Grand Unified Theory models. A statistical comparison between theoretical predictions and observational me…
We analyze the influence of decaying sterile neutrinos with the masses in the range 1-140 MeV on the primordial Helium-4 abundance, explicitly solving the Boltzmann equations for all particle species, taking into account neutrino flavour oscillations, and paying special attention to systematic uncertainties. We show that the Helium abundance depends only on the sterile neutrino lifetime and not on the way the active-sterile mixing is distributed between flavours, and derive an upper bound on the lifetime. We also demonstrate that the recent results of Izotov & Thuan [arXiv:1001.4440], who find…
The success of primordial nucleosynthesis as a cornerstone of the hot Big Bang model has been limited by the long-standing lithium problem. Recent work presented a self-consistent perturbative analysis of the effects of variations in nature's fundamental constants on primordial nucleosynthesis for a broad class of grand unified theory models, showing that such models provide a possible solution to the lithium problem, provided the value of the fine-structure constant $α$ at the nucleosynthesis epoch is larger than the current laboratory one by a few parts per million of relative variation. Her…

The neutrino driven wind during a core collapse supernova is an attractive site for r-process nucleosynthesis. The electron fraction $Y_e$ in the wind depends on observable neutrino energies and luminosities. The mean antineutrino energy is limited by supernova SN1987A data while lepton number conservation constrains the ratio of antineutrino to neutrino luminosities. If $Y_e$, in the wind, is to be suitable for rapid neutron capture nucleosynthesis, then the mean electron neutrino energy may be significantly lower then that predicted in present supernova simulations, or there may be new neutr…
For a brief time in its early evolution the Universe was a cosmic nuclear reactor. The expansion and cooling of the Universe limited this epoch to the first few minutes, allowing time for the synthesis in astrophysically interesting abundances of only the lightest nuclides (D, 3He, 4He, 7Li). For big bang nucleosynthesis (BBN) in the standard models of cosmology and particle physics (SBBN), the SBBN-predicted abundances depend on only one adjustable parameter, the baryon density parameter (the ratio by number of baryons (nucleons) to photons). The predicted and observed abundances of the relic…
We study the effects of dark-matter annihilation during the epoch of big-bang nucleosynthesis on the primordial abundances of light elements. We improve the calculation of the light-element abundances by taking into account the effects of anti-nucleons emitted by the annihilation of dark matter and the interconversion reactions of neutron and proton at inelastic scatterings of energetic nucleons. Comparing the theoretical prediction of the primordial light-element abundances with the latest observational constraints, we derive upper bounds on the dark-matter pair-annihilation cross section. Im…
We report on the results of a recent evaluation of all percent level corrections to weak rates of processes converting n <-> p, which are crucial for the determination of the 4He mass fraction produced during primordial nucleosynthesis.
We report the results of a new accurate evaluation of light nuclei yields in primordial nucleosynthesis. The relic densities of 4He, D and 7Li have been numerically obtained via a new updated version of the standard BBN code.
The influence of a massive Majorana tau-neutrino on primordial nucleosynthesis is rigorously calculated. The system of three integro-differential kinetic equations is solved numerically for the tau-neutrino mass in the interval from 0 to 20 MeV. It is found that the usual assumption of kinetic equilibrium is strongly violated and non-equilibrium corrections considerably amplify the effect. Even a very weak restriction from nucleosynthesis, allowing for one extra massless neutrino species, permits to conclude that m_ν_τ< 1 MeV. For a stricter bound, e.g. for dN < 0.3, the limit is m_ν_τ< 0.35 M…
We review the Cosmology and Physics underlying Primordial Nucleosynthesis and survey current observational data in order to compare the predictions of Big Bang Nucleosynthesis with the inferred primordial abundances. From this comparison we report on the status of the consistency of the standard hot big bang model, we constrain the universal density of baryons (nucleons), and we set limits to the numbers and/or effective interactions of hypothetical new "light" particles (equivalent massless neutrinos).
We report the results of a recent likelihood analysis combining the primordial nucleosynthesis and the BOOMERanG and MAXIMA-1 data on cosmic microwave background radiation anisotropies. We discuss the possible implications for relic neutrino background of a high value for the baryonic matter content of the universe, larger than what is expected in a standard nucleosynthesis scenario.
The $^7$Li abundance calculated in BBN with the baryon-to-photon ratio fixed from fits to the CMB power spectrum is inconsistent with the observed lithium abundances on the surface of metal-poor halo stars. Previous cosmological solutions proposed to resolve this $^7$Li problem include photon cooling (possibly via the Bose-Einstein condensation of a scalar particle) or the decay of a long-lived $X-$particle (possibly the next-to-lightest supersymmetric particle). In this paper we reanalyze these solutions, both separately and in concert. We also introduce the possibility of a primordial magnet…
We investigate constraints on Lorentz invariance violation in the neutrino sector from a joint analysis of big bang nucleosynthesis and the cosmic microwave background. The effect of Lorentz invariance violation during the epoch of big bang nucleosynthesis changes the predicted helium-4 abundance, which influences the power spectrum of the cosmic microwave background at the recombination epoch. In combination with the latest measurement of the primordial helium-4 abundance, the Planck 2015 data of the cosmic microwave background anisotropies give a strong constraint on the deformation paramete…
An up to date review of Standard Big Bang Nucleosynthesis predictions vs the astrophysical estimates of light nuclei abundances is here presented. In particular the analysis reports the expected ranges for baryon fraction and effective number of neutrinos as obtained by BBN only.
Primordial nucleosynthesis calculations are shown to be able to provide constraints on electroweak baryogenesis which produce a highly inhomogeneous distribution of the baryon-to-photon ratio. Such baryogenesis scenarios overproduce 4He and/or 7Li and can be ruled out whenever a fraction f<3*10e-6(100 GeV/T)^3 of nucleated bubbles of broken-symmetry phase contributes > 10% of the baryon number within the horizon volume.
We use the constraints arising from primordial nucleosynthesis to bound the strength $F$ of non-standard neutrino-neutrino interactions, when the right-handed neutrinos participate in the interaction. We find $F < 3 \times 10^{-3}\ G_F$, which is five orders of magnitude more stringent than the limit obtained using LEP data. We also show that secret interactions of neutrinos mediated by massless particles must have a coupling $f$ less than $2 \times 10^{-5}$. This also ameliorates previous limits in the literature.
In the primordial Universe, neutrino decoupling occurs only slightly before electron-positron annihilations, leading to an increased neutrino energy density with order $10^{-2}$ spectral distortions compared to the standard instantaneous decoupling approximation. However, there are discrepancies in the literature on the impact it has on the subsequent primordial nucleosynthesis, in terms of both the magnitude of the abundance modifications and their sign. We review how neutrino decoupling indirectly affects the various stages of nucleosynthesis, namely, the freezing out of neutron abundance, t…
A new accurate evaluation of primordial light nuclei abundances is presented. The proton to neutron conversion rates have been corrected to take into account radiative effects, finite nucleon mass, thermal and plasma corrections. The theoretical uncertainty on 4He is so reduced to the order of 0.1%.
We calculate the weak interaction rates of selected light nuclei during the epoch of Big Bang Nucleosynthesis (BBN), and we assess the impact of these rates on nuclear abundance flow histories and on final light element abundance yields. We consider electron and electron antineutrino captures on 3He and 7Be, and the reverse processes of positron capture and electron neutrino capture on 3H and 7Li. We also compute the rates of positron and electron neutrino capture on 6He. We calculate beta and positron decay transitions where appropriate. As expected, the final standard BBN abundance yields ar…
The impact of unstable Majorana tau neutrinos on primordial nucleosynthesis is considered. The mass and lifetime of nu_tau are taken in the intervals 0.1-20 MeV and 0.001-400 sec respectively. The studied decay modes are nu_tau -> nu_mu + phi and nu_tau -> nu_e + phi, where phi is a massless (or light) scalar. Integro-differential kinetic equations are solved numerically without any simplifying assumptions. Our results deviate rather strongly from earlier calculations. Depending on mass, lifetime, and decay channels of the nu_tau, the number of effective neutrino species (found from He4), in a…
We examine in detail the changes in the production of primordial helium resulting from nonthermal neutrino momentum distributions produced by resonant transformation of electron-type neutrinos to steriles. These transformations, anti-nu_e -> anti-nu_s (nu_e->nu_s), amplify a positive (negative) lepton number asymmetry. We find that the resulting supression relative to a thermal distribution of low energy nu_e reduces n -> p conversion to a greater extent than does the enhancement of n -> p from an identical suppression of anti-nu_e. Thus, equal lepton-number asymmetries of opposite sign have u…
The cosmological abundance of nucleons determined from considerations of Big Bang nucleosynthesis allegedly provides compelling evidence for non-nucleonic dark matter. Recent developments in measurements of primordial light element abundances, in particular deuterium and helium, require reexamination of this important issue. The present situation is uncertain but exciting.
We studied nonequilibrium oscillations between left-handed electron neutrinos and nonthermalized sterile neutrinos. The exact kinetic equations for neutrinos, written in terms of neutrino density matrix in momentum space were analyzed. The evolution of neutrino density matrix was numerically calculated. This allowed to study precisely the evolution of the neutrino number densities, energy spectrum distortion and the asymmetry between neutrinos and antineutrinos for each momentum mode. Both effects of distortion and asymmetry, which cannot be accounted for correctly when working in terms of par…
Light, weakly-coupled dark sectors may be naturally decoupled in the early universe and enter equilibrium with the Standard Model bath during the epoch of primordial nucleosynthesis. The equilibration and eventual decoupling of dark sector states modifies the expansion rate of the universe, which alters the predicted abundances of the light elements. This effect can be encompassed in a time-varying contribution to $N_{\mathrm{eff}}$, the effective number of neutrino species, such that $N_{\mathrm{eff}}$ during nucleosynthesis differs from its measured value at the time of recombination. We inv…
The discrepancy between the experimental decay rate of orthopositronium (o-Ps) and the QED theoretical prediction can be solved by invoking decays of o-Ps into exotic particles with branching ratios of the order of 10^{-3}. We show that considerations based on primordial nucleosynthesis and effective Lagrangians place a very stringent upper bound: B = Gamma(o-Ps -> ``exotic'' + ...)/Gamma(o-Ps) <= 2 x 10^{-15}, ruling out the exotic decay solution to the puzzle.
We have modified the standard code for primordial nucleosynthesis to include the effect of finite nucleon mass on the weak-interaction rates as calculated by Seckel \cite{seckel}. We find a small, systematic increase in the $^4$He yield, $ΔY \simeq 0.0057\,Y$, which is insensitive to the value of the baryon-to-photon ratio $η$ and slightly larger than Seckel's estimate. The fractional changes in the abundances of D, $^3$He, and $^7$Li range from 0.08\% to 3\% for $10^{-11}\le η\le 10^{-8}$.
We show that the presence of primordial stochastic (hypercharge) magnetic fields before the electroweak (EW) phase transition induces isocurvature fluctuations (baryon number inhomogeneities). Depending on the details of the magnetic field spectrum and on the particle physics parameters (such as the strength of the EW phase transition and electron Yukawa couplings) these fluctuations may survive until the Big Bang nucleosynthesis (BBN). Their lenghtscale may exceed the neutron diffusion length at that time, while their magnitude can be so large that sizable antimatter domains are present. This…
A change in the fundamental constants of nature or plasma effects in the early universe could stabilize $^8$Be against decay into two $^4$He nuclei. Coc et al. examined this effect on big bang nucleosynthesis as a function of $B_8$, the mass difference between two $^4$He nuclei and a single $^8$Be nucleus, and found no effects for $B_8 \le 100$ keV. Here we examine stable $^8$Be with larger $B_8$ and also allow for a variation in the rate for $^4$He + $^4$He $\longrightarrow$ $^8$Be to determine the threshold for interesting effects. We find no change to standard big bang nucleosynthesis for $…
We report on the status of primordial nucleosynthesis in light of recent results on CMB anisotropies from WMAP experiment. Theoretical estimates for nuclei abundances, along with the corresponding uncertainties, are evaluated using a new numerical code, where all nuclear rates usually considered have been updated using the most recent available data. Moreover, additional processes, neglected in previous calculations, have been included. The combined analysis of CMB and primordial nucleosynthesis prediction for Deuterium gives an effective number of relativistic degrees of freedom in good agree…
We discuss a constraint on the scale $Λ_{\rm NC}$ of noncommutative (NC) gauge field theory arising from consideration of the big bang nucleosynthesis (BBN) of light elements. The propagation of neutrinos in the NC background described by an antisymmetric tensor $θ^{μν}$ does result in a tree-level vector-like coupling to photons in a generation-independent manner, raising thus a possibility to have an appreciable contribution of three light right-handed (RH) fields to the energy density of the universe at nucleosynthesis time. Considering elastic scattering processes of the RH neutrinos off c…
We have modified the standard code for primordial nucleosynthesis to include the effect of the slight heating of neutrinos by $e^\pm$ annihilations. There is a small, systematic change in the $^4$He yield, $ΔY \simeq +1.5\times 10^{-4}$, which is insensitive to the value of the baryon-to-photon ratio $η$ for $10^{-10}\la η\la 10^{-9}$. We also find that the baryon-to-photon ratio decreases by about 0.5\% less than the canonical factor of 4/11 because some of the entropy in $e^\pm$ pairs is transferred to neutrinos. These results are in accord with recent analytical estimates.
We revisit the decoupling of neutrinos in the early universe with flavour oscillations. We rederive the quantum kinetic equations which determine the neutrino evolution based on a BBGKY-like hierarchy, and include for the first time the full collision term, with both on- and off-diagonal terms for all relevant reactions. We focus on the case of zero chemical potential and solve these equations numerically. We also develop an approximate scheme based on the adiabatic evolution in the matter basis. In fact, the large difference between the oscillations and cosmological time scales allows to cons…
A comprehensive study of the effect of an unstable tau neutrino on primordial nucleosynthesis is presented. The standard code for nucleosynthesis is modified to allow for a massive decaying tau neutrino whose daughter products include neutrinos, photons, $e^\pm$ pairs, and/or noninteracting (sterile) daughter products. Tau-neutrino decays influence primordial nucleosynthesis in three distinct ways: (i) the energy density of the decaying tau neutrino and its daughter products affect the expansion rate tending to increase $^4$He, D, and $^3$He production; (ii) electromagnetic (EM) decay products…
We study the dependence of primordial nuclear abundances on fundamental nuclear observables such as binding energies, scattering lengths, neutron lifetime, \textit{etc.} by varying these quantities. The numerical computations were performed with four publicly available codes, thus facilitating an investigation of the model-dependent (systematic) uncertainties on these dependences. Indeed deviations of the order of a few percent are found. Moreover, accounting for the temperature dependence of the sensitivity of the rates to some relevant parameters leads to a reduction of the sensitivity of th…
We calculate and display the primordial light-element abundances as a function of a neutrino degeneracy parameter ξcommon to all flavors. It is the only unknown parameter characterizing the thermal medium at the primordial nucleosynthesis epoch. The observed primordial helium abundance Y_p is the most sensitive cosmic ``leptometer.'' Adopting the conservative Y_p error analysis of Olive and Skillman implies -0.04 \alt ξ\alt 0.07 whereas the errors stated by Izotov and Thuan imply ξ=0.0245+-0.0092 (1 sigma). Improved determinations of the baryon abundance have no significant impact on this situ…
There exists a well known problem with the Li7+Be7 abundance predicted by standard big bang nucleosynthesis being larger than the value observed in population II stars. The catalysis of big bang nucleosynthesis by metastable, τ_X \ge 10^3 sec, charged particles X^- is capable of suppressing the primordial Li7+Be7, abundance and making it consistent with the observations. We show that to produce the correct abundance, this mechanism of suppression places a requirement on the initial abundance of X^- at temperatures of 4\times 10^8 K to be on the order of or larger than 0.02 per baryon, which is…
We report the results of a detailed calculation of nucleon weak interactions relevant for the neutron to proton density ratio at the onset of primordial nucleosynthesis. Radiative electromagnetic corrections, finite nucleon mass terms, thermal radiative effects on weak processes and on neutrino temperature are taken into account to reduce the theoretical uncertainty on $n \leftrightarrow p $ rates to 1%. This translates into a sensitivity in $^4 He$ mass fraction $Y_p$ prediction up to $10^{-4}$. We find a positive total correction to the Born prediction $δY_p \simeq 0.004$.
We investigate the possibility that inhomogeneous nucleosynthesis may eventually be used to explain the abundances of \li6, \be9 and B in population II stars. The present work differs from previous studies in that we have used a more extensive reaction network. It is demonstrated that in the simplest scenario the abundances of the light elements with $A\le7$ constrain the separation of inhomogeneities to sufficiently small scales that the model is indistinguishable from homogeneous nucleosynthesis and that the abundances of \li6, \be9\ and B are then below observations by several orders of mag…
We present an up-to-date review of Big Bang Nucleosynthesis (BBN). We discuss the main improvements which have been achieved in the past two decades on the overall theoretical framework, summarize the impact of new experimental results on nuclear reaction rates, and critically re-examine the astrophysical determinations of light nuclei abundances. We report then on how BBN can be used as a powerful test of new physics, constraining a wide range of ideas and theoretical models of fundamental interactions beyond the standard model of strong and electroweak forces and Einstein's general relativit…
We analyze the effects of lepton asymmetry on neutrino oscillations and on cosmological nucleosynthesis with active-sterile oscillating neutrinos. It is shown that small lepton asymmetries, L < 0.01, whose direct kinetic effect on nucleosynthesis is negligible, still effect nucleosynthesis considerably through their influence on oscillating neutrinos. Two different cases of lepton asymmetry are discussed: an initially present and a dynamically generated in oscillations. Dynamically generated in resonant oscillations asymmetry at small mixing angles suppresses oscillations, hence, the nucleosyn…
A massive long-lived tau neutrino in the MeV regime modifies the primordial light-element abundances predicted by big-bang nucleosynthesis (BBN) calculations. This effect has been used to derive limits on the tau neutrino mass. Because recently the observational situation has become somewhat confusing and, in part, intrinsically inconsistent, we reconsider the BBN limits on the tau neutrino mass. To this end we use our newly developed BBN code to calculate the primordial abundances as a function of the tau neutrino mass and of the cosmic baryon density eta. We derive concordance regions in the…
Catalysis of nuclear reactions by metastable charged particles X^- opens the possibility for primordial production of elements with A>7. We calculate the abundance of ^9Be, where synthesis is mediated by the formation of (^8Be X^-) bound states, finding a dramatic enhancement over the standard BBN prediction: ^9Be/^1H = 10^{-13}\times(Y_X/10^{-5}). Thus observations of ^9Be abundances at low metallicity offers a uniquely sensitive probe of many particle physics models that predict X^-, including variants of supersymmetric models. Comparing the catalytically-enhanced abundances of primordial ^6…
We report the results on Big Bang Nucleosynthesis (BBN) based on an updated code, with accuracy of the order of 0.1% on He4 abundance, compared with the predictions of other recent similar analysis. We discuss the compatibility of the theoretical results, for vanishing neutrino chemical potentials, with the observational data. Bounds on the number of relativistic neutrinos and baryon abundance are obtained by a likelihood analysis. We also analyze the effect of large neutrino chemical potentials on primordial nucleosynthesis, motivated by the recent results on the Cosmic Microwave Background R…
We analyze in details the standard Primordial Nucleosynthesis scenario. In particular we discuss the key theoretical issues which are involved in a detailed prediction of light nuclide abundances, as the weak reaction rates, neutrino decoupling and nuclear rate modeling. We also perform a new analysis of available data on the main nuclear processes entering the nucleosynthesis reaction network, with particular stress on their uncertainties as well as on their role in determining the corresponding uncertainties on light nuclide theoretical estimates. The current status of theoretical versus exp…
As space expands, the energy density in black holes increases relative to that of radiation, providing us with motivation to consider scenarios in which the early universe contained a significant abundance of such objects. In this study, we revisit the constraints on primordial black holes derived from measurements of the light element abundances. Black holes and their Hawking evaporation products can impact the era of Big Bang Nucleosynthesis (BBN) by altering the rate of expansion at the time of neutron-proton freeze-out, as well as by radiating mesons which can convert protons into neutrons…
Using the semi-analytic method proposed by \citet{Esma91} we calculate the abundances of the light elements produced during primordial nucleosynthesis assuming that the gauge coupling constants of the fundamental interactions may vary. We analyze the dependence of the nucleon masses, nuclear binding energies and cross sections involved in the calculation of the abundances with the fundamental constants assuming the chiral limit of QCD. The abundances of light elements as a function of the fundamental constants are obtained. Finally, using the observational data of $\De$, $\Het$, $\He$ and $\Li…
In the standard hot big bang model, the expansion of the early universe is given by the Friedmann equation with an energy density dominated by relativistic particles. Since in a variety of models this equation is altered, we introduce modifications in the Friedmann equation and show that we can constrain them using big bang nucleosynthesis data. When there is no neutrino/antineutrino asymmetry these modifications are tightly bounded but in presence of an asymmetry the bounds become much looser. As an illustration, we apply our results to a model where the second and third families couple to gr…
We investigate the influence of hadron injection from evaporating primordial black holes (PBHs) in the early stage of the primordial nucleosynthesis era (t = 10^{-3} - 10^4 sec). The emitted quark-antiquark pairs or gluons immediately fragment into a lot of hadrons and scatter off the thermal plasma which is constituted by photons, electrons and nucleons. For the relatively low mass holes we point out that the dominant effect is the inter-conversion between ambient proton and neutron through the strong interaction induced by the emitted hadrons. Even after the freeze-out time of the week inter…
We determine the restrictions imposed by primordial nucleosynthesis upon a heavy tau neutrino, in the presence of nu-tau annihilations into Majorons, as expected in a wide class of particle physics models of neutrino mass. We determine the equivalent number of light neutrino species $N_{eq}$ as a function of nu-tau mass and the nu-tau-Majoron coupling $g$. We show that for theoretically plausible $g$ values $\gsim 10^{-4}$ present nucleosynthesis observations can not rule out nu-tau masses in the MeV range. Moreover, these models give $N_{eq} \leq 3$ in the nu-tau mass region 1-10 MeV, for ver…
The annihilation of new dark matter candidates with masses $m_X$ in the MeV range may account for the galactic positrons that are required to explain the 511 keV $γ$-ray flux from the galactic bulge. We study the impact of MeV-mass thermal relic particles on the primordial synthesis of $^2$H, $^4$He, and $^7$Li. If the new particles are in thermal equilibrium with neutrinos during the nucleosynthesis epoch they increase the helium mass fraction for $m_X\alt 10$ MeV and are thus disfavored. If they couple primarily to the electromagnetic plasma they can have the opposite effect of lowering both…
Big Bang Nucleosynthesis (BBN) offers one of the most strict evidences for the Lambda-CDM cosmology at present, as well as the Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) radiation. In this work, our main aim is to present the outcomes of our calculations related to primordial abundances of light elements, in the context of higher dimensional steady-state universe model in the dilaton gravity. Our results show that abundances of light elements (primordial D, 3He, 4He, T, 7Li) are significantly different for some cases, and a comparison is given between a particular dilaton gravity model and Lambda-CDM i…
We describe a program for computing the abundances of light elements produced during Big Bang Nucleosynthesis which is publicly available at http://parthenope.na.infn.it/. Starting from nuclear statistical equilibrium conditions the program solves the set of coupled ordinary differential equations, follows the departure from chemical equilibrium of nuclear species, and determines their asymptotic abundances as function of several input cosmological parameters as the baryon density, the number of effective neutrino, the value of cosmological constant and the neutrino chemical potential. The pro…
