We give exact results for the emission spectra of both nonlinear Breit-Wheeler pair production and nonlinear Compton scattering in ultra-intense, ultra-short duration plane wave backgrounds, modelled as delta-function pulses. This includes closed form expressions for total scattering probabilities. We show explicitly that these probabilities do not exhibit the power-law scaling with intensity associated with the conjectured breakdown of (Furry picture) perturbation theory, instead scaling logarithmically in the high-intensity limit.

No short hair behaviors of ultra-compact stars

In the black hole spacetime, a no short hair theorem was proved, which states that the effective radius of black hole hairs must extend beyond the null circular orbit. In the present paper, in the horizonless gravity, we find a similar no short hair behavior that the effective radius of matter fields must also extend beyond the null circular orbit of ultra-compact stars.

Particle-beam scattering from strong-field QED

We consider the scattering of probe particles on an ultra-boosted beam of charge, in the case that the fields of the beam are strong and must be treated non-perturbatively. We show that the fields of the ultra-boosted beam act as stochastic plane waves - scattering amplitudes (of elastic scattering, nonlinear Compton and nonlinear Breit-Wheeler) are obtained without approximation by averaging plane wave scattering amplitudes over all possible plane wave parameters. Nonlinear pair production in scattering of photons on ultra-short laser pulses at high energy

We consider scattering of a photon on a short intense laser pulse at high energy. We argue that for ultra-short laser pulses the interaction is coherent over the entire length of the pulse. At low pulse intensity $I$ the total cross section for electron-positron pair production is proportional to $I$. However, at pulse intensities higher than the characteristic value $I_s$, the total cross section saturates -- it becomes proportional to the logarithm of intensity. Asymmetries of azimuthal photon distributions in non-linear Compton scattering in ultra-short intense laser pulses

Non-linear Compton scattering in ultra-short intense laser pulses is discussed with the focus on angular distributions of the emitted photon energy. Longitudinal decorrelation measures of flow magnitude and event-plane angles in ultra-relativistic nuclear collisions

We discuss the forward-backward correlations of harmonic flow in Pb+Pb collisions at the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC), applying standard multibin measures, as well as proposed here new measures. We illustrate the methods with hydrodynamic model simulations based on event-by-event initial conditions from the wounded quark model with asymmetric rapidity emission profiles.
