Singular continuous Cantor spectrum for magnetic quantum walks

In this note, we consider a physical system given by a two-dimensional quantum walk in an external magnetic field. In this setup, we show that both the topological structure as well as its type depend sensitively on the value of the magnetic flux $Φ$: while for $Φ/(2π)$ rational the spectrum is known to consist of bands, we show that for $Φ/(2π)$ irrational the spectrum is a zero-measure Cantor set and the spectral measures have no pure point part.

Return probability and self-similarity of the Riesz walk

The quantum walk is a counterpart of the random walk. The 2-state quantum walk in one dimension can be determined by a measure on the unit circle in the complex plane. As for the singular continuous measure, results on the corresponding quantum walk are limited. In this situation, we focus on a quantum walk, called the Riesz walk, given by the Riesz measure which is one of the famous singular continuous measures. The present paper is devoted to the return probability of the Riesz walk. Furthermore, we present some conjectures on the self-similarity of the walk.

Quantum Walk and Dressed Photon

A physical model called dressed photons, a composite system of photons and excitation of electrons in the nano-particles, is effectively used in the realm of near-field optics. Many interesting behaviors of dressed photons are known, especially the rapid energy transfer and the accumulation to singular points, e.g., points with strong dissipation. We propose a new modelling of dressed photons based on quantum walks, especially Grover walks on semi-infinite graphs which we call jellyfish graphs, and show a universal accumulation phenomena around the point with strong dissipation.

Continuous deformations of the Grover walk preserving localization

The three-state Grover walk on a line exhibits the localization effect characterized by a non-vanishing probability of the particle to stay at the origin. We present two continuous deformations of the Grover walk which preserve its localization nature. The resulting quantum walks differ in the rate at which they spread through the lattice. Skyrmion Burst and Multiple Quantum Walk in Thin Ferromagnetic Films

A giant Skyrmion collapses to a singular point by emitting spin waves in a thin ferromagnetic film, when external magnetic field is increased beyond the critical one. The remnant is a single-spin flipped (SSF) point. The SSF point has a quantum diffusion dynamics governed by the Heisenberg model.
