We have studied the reversal time of the magnetisation in two dimensional Ising ferromagnet in the presence of externally applied uniform magnetic field using Monte Carlo simulation based on Metropolis single spin flip algorithm. Then we have investigated the change in reversal time due to the presence of quenched random field in addition to the uniform magnetic field. We report the results of statistical distribution of reversal times in the presence of three different types of the distributions (namely, uniform, bimodal and normal) of random fields and compared the results with those obtained for uniform field only. We have observed that the reversal time decreases due to the presence of any kind (of distribution) of the random fields. The metastable volume fraction is observed to follow the Avrami's law. Dependence of reversal times on temperature and different widths of the distributions of random fields are also reported. We have also checked whether the system obeyed Becker-Doring theory of classical nucleation in presence of additional random field and tried to investigate the range of the width of the distribution of random field. For larger width of the distribution of random field, the system fails to show the reversal via the nucleation of a single droplet (for small values of uniform field only). The possible reason is analysed.
We report the results of the magnetisation reversal in Ising ferromagnet having thermal and field gradients by Monte Carlo simulation. We have studied the distribution of reversal times for different values of thermal and field gradients and compared the results with those obtained for uniform temperature. The movement of the domain wall of distinct domains and the growth of roughness of domain wall have also been studied statistically. The role of competing thermal and field gradients, in the reversal mechanism, was also studied and a line of marginal competition was obtained.
The two dimensional Spin-1 Blume-Capel ferromagnet is studied by Monte Carlo simulation with Metropolis algorithm. Starting from initial ordered spin configuration the reversal of magnetisation is investigated in presence of a magnetic field ($h$) applied in the opposite direction. The variations of the reversal time with the strength of single site anisotropy are investigated in details. The exponential dependence was observed. The systematic variations of the mean reversal time with positive and negative anisotropy was found. The mean macroscopic reversal time was observed to be linearly dep…
We have studied a spin-1/2, ABA, Ising trilayer system with two different types of interactions, in-plane ferromagnetic and out-of-plane anti-ferromagnetic, among the lattice sites, on different layers. In the pure case, devoid of any impurity, we employed Monte-Carlo method with single spin-flip Metropolis algorithm to find out the anti-ferromagnetic critical temperature (Néel temperature) and another lower temperature, called the compensation temperature, both with total magnetisation zero, in accordance with already established results for square lattice. Then non-magnetic impurities, (spin…
The metastable behaviour of two dimensional anisotropic Blume-Capel ferromagnet, under the influence of graded and stepped like variations of magnetic field, has been investigated by extensive Monte Carlo simulation using Metropolis single spin flip algorithm. Starting from the initial perfectly ordered state, reversal of magnetisation has been studied in presence of the field. Metastable lifetime or the reversal time of magnetisation for the system having uniform anisotropy and in the presence of both graded and stepped field has been studied. Also the same has been explored for a {\it graded…
Trilayered, Ising, spin-1/2, ferrimagnets are an interesting subject for simulational studies for they show compensation effect. A Monte Carlo study on such a system with sublayers on triangular lattice is performed in the current work. Three layers, making up the bulk, is formed completely by either A or B type of atoms. The interactions between like atoms (A-A; B-B) are ferromagnetic and between unlike ones (A-B) are anti-ferromagnetic. Thus the system has three coupling constants and manifests into two distinct trilayer compositions: AAB and ABA. Metropolis single spin flip algorithm is emp…
A spin-1/2, Ising trilayered ferrimagnetic system on square Bravais lattice is studied, employing Monte-Carlo simulation with the single spin-flip Metropolis algorithm. The bulk of such a system is formed by three layers, each of which is composed entirely either by A or B type of atoms, resulting in two distinct compositions: ABA and AAB and two different types of magnetic interactions: ferromagnetic between like atoms and antiferromagnetic between unlike atoms. For such systems, Inverse Absolute of Reduced Residual Magnetisation is the absolute value of the ratio of the extremum of the magne…
We study the relaxation of the local ferromagnetic order in the quantum Ising chain in a slant field with both longitudinal and transverse components. After preparing the system in a fully polarised state, we analyse the time evolution of the entire probability distribution function (PDF) of the magnetisation within a block of $\ell$ spins. We first analyse the effect of confinement on the gaussification of the PDF for large $\ell$, showing that the melting of initial order is suppressed when the longitudinal field is aligned to initial magnetisation while it is sped up when it is in the oppos…
The reversal of magnetisation has been studied in a three dimensional Ising ferromagnet by Monte Carlo simulation with Metropolis single spin flip algorithm using random updating scheme. The outer layers are considered as surface. The surface interacts with core with a relative ferromagnetic interaction strength. Depending on the relative interaction strength, the time of reversal of the surface was found to be different from that of the bulk. For weaker relative strength, surface reversal was found to be faster than that of bulk and vice versa for stronger relative interaction strength. A cri…
