The study of Rational Secret Sharing initiated by Halpern and Teague regards the reconstruction of the secret in secret sharing as a game. It was shown that participants (parties) may refuse to reveal their shares and so the reconstruction may fail. Moreover, a refusal to reveal the share may be a dominant strategy of a party.
In this paper we consider secret sharing as a sub-action or subgame of a larger action/game where the secret opens a possibility of consumption of a certain common good. We claim that utilities of participants will be dependent on the nature of this common good. In particular, Halpern and Teague scenario corresponds to a rivalrous and excludable common good. We consider the case when this common good is non-rivalrous and non-excludable and find many natural Nash equilibria. We list several applications of secret sharing to demonstrate our claim and give corresponding scenarios. In such circumstances the secret sharing scheme facilitates a power sharing agreement in the society. We also state that non-reconstruction may be beneficial for this society and give several examples.

We present a new secret sharing algorithm that provides the storage efficiency of an Information Dispersal Algorithm (IDA) while providing perfect secret sharing. We achieve this by mixing the input message with random bytes generated using Repeatable Random Sequence Generator (RRSG). We also use the data from the RRSG to provide random polynomial evaluation points and optionally compute the polynomials on random isomorphic fields rather than a single fixed field.
We propose an adaptive threshold multi secret sharing scheme based solely on cryptographically secure hash functions. We show that the proposed scheme is also: perfect, ideal, verifiable, and proactive. Moreover the proposed scheme has a low computational complexity comparing to the most common schemes operating over finite fields.

A (t,n)-threshold secret sharing scheme is a method to distribute a secret among n participants in such a way that any t participants can recover the secret, but no t-1 participants can. In this paper, we propose two secret sharing schemes using non-abelian groups. One scheme is the special case where all the participants must get together to recover the secret. The other one is a (t,n)-threshold scheme that is a combination of Shamir's scheme and the group-theoretic scheme proposed in this paper.
Secret sharing schemes create an effective method to safeguard a secret by dividing it among several participants. By using hash functions and the herding hashes technique, we first set up a (t+1, n) threshold scheme which is perfect and ideal, and then extend it to schemes for any general access structure. The schemes can be further set up as proactive or verifiable if necessary. The setup and recovery of the secret is efficient due to the fast calculation of the hash function. The proposed scheme is flexible because of the use of existing hash functions.

We consider the problems of secret sharing and multiparty computation, assuming that agents prefer to get the secret (resp., function value) to not getting it, and secondarily, prefer that as few as possible of the other agents get it. We show that, under these assumptions, neither secret sharing nor multiparty function computation is possible using a mechanism that has a fixed running time. However, we show that both are possible using randomized mechanisms with constant expected running time.
Pixel expansion and the quality of the reconstructed secret image has been a major issue of visual secret sharing (VSS) schemes. A number of probabilistic VSS schemes with minimum pixel expansion have been proposed for black and white (binary) secret images. This paper presents a probabilistic (2, 3)-VSS scheme for gray scale images. Its pixel expansion is larger in size but the quality of the image is perfect when it's reconstructed.
