Lewis, Reiner, and Stanton conjectured a Hilbert seriesfor a space of invariants under an action of finite general linear groups using $(q,t)$-binomial coefficients. This work gives an analog in positive characteristic of theorems relating various Catalan numbers to the representation theory of rational Cherednik algebras. They consider a finite general linear group as a reflection group acting on the quotient of a polynomial ring by iterated powers of the irrelevant ideal under the Frobenius map. We prove a variant of their conjecture in the local case, when the group acting fixes a reflecting hyperplane.
Conjectures are given for Hilbert series related to polynomial invariants of finite general linear groups, one for invariants mod Frobenius powers of the irrelevant ideal, one for cofixed spaces of polynomials.
We prove the simultaneous multiplication formulas for Apostol-Bernoulli polynomials and generalized Frobenius-Euler polynomials. These formulas contain Dedekind-Rademacher sums, Apostol-Dedekind sums and Fourier-Dedekind sums.
Let consider $n$ natural numbers $a\_1 ,\ldots , a\_{n} $. Let $S$ be the numerical semigroup generated by $a\_1 ,\ldots , a\_{n} $. Set $A=K[t^{a\_1}, \ldots , t^{a\_n}]=K[{x\_1}, \ldots , {x\_n}]/I$. The aim of this paper is: \begin{enumerate}\item Give an effective pseudo-polynomial algorithm on $a\_1$, which computes The Ap{é}ry set and the Frobenius number of $S$. As a consequence it also solves in pseudo-polynomial time the integer knapsack problem : given a natural integer b, b belongs to $S$?\item The \gbb of $I$ for the reverse lexicographic order to $x\_n,\ldots ,x\_1$, without using…
Given a set of positive integers A = {a_1,...,a_n}, we study the number p_A (t) of nonnegative integer solutions (m_1,...,m_n) to m_1 a_1 + ... m_n a_n = t. We derive an explicit formula for the polynomial part of p_A.
Around about 1917, Issai Schur rediscovered the Rogers-Ramanujan identities, and proved a system of polynomial identities that imply them. Schur wrote that Georg Frobenius (his former advisor) had shown him a simple, direct proof of these polynomial identities. Schur did not see fit to reveal Frobenius's proof, preferring his own rather complicated proof. But it is easy enough to guess what this `simple, direct' proof must have been. As Frobenius died in 1917, we may call this `Frobenius's last proof'.
Given relatively prime positive integers a_1,...,a_n, the Frobenius number is the largest integer that cannot be written as a nonnegative integer combination of the a_i. We examine the parametric version of this problem: given a_i=a_i(t) as functions of t, compute the Frobenius number as a function of t. A function f is a quasi-polynomial if there exists a period m and polynomials f_0,...,f_{m-1} such that f(t)=f_{t mod m}(t) for all positive integers t. We conjecture that, if the a_i(t) are polynomials (or quasi-polynomials) in t, then the Frobenius number agrees with a quasi-polynomial, for …
The Frobenius number of relatively prime positive integers $a_1, \ldots, a_n$ is the largest integer that is not a nononegative integer combination of the $a_i.$ Given positive integers $a_1, \ldots, a_n$ with $n \ge 2,$ the set of multiples of $\gcd(a_1, \ldots, a_n)$ which have less than $m$ distinct representations as a nonnegative integer combination of the $a_i$ is bounded above, so we define $f_{m, \ell}(a_1, \ldots, a_n)$ to be the $\ell^{\text{th}}$ largest multiple of $\gcd(a_1, \ldots, a_n)$ with less than $m$ distinct representations (which generalizes the Frobenius number) and $g_m…
We prove some cases of a conjecture of Lewis, Reiner and Stanton regarding Hilbert series corresponding to the action of $Gl_n(\mathbb{F}_q)$ on a polynomial ring modulo Frobenius powers. We also give a few conjectures about the invariant ring for certain cases that we don't prove completely.
Using a noncommutative analog of Chevalley's decomposition of polynomials into symmetric polynomials times coinvariants due to Bergeron, Reutenauer, Rosas, and Zabrocki we compute the graded Frobenius series for their two sets of noncommutative harmonics with respect to the left action of the symmetric group (acting on variables). We use these results to derive the Frobenius series for the enveloping algebra of the derived free Lie algebra in n variables.
Free cumulants are nice and useful functionals of the shape of a Young diagram, in particular they give the asymptotics of normalized characters of symmetric groups S(n) in the limit n\to\infty. We give an explicit combinatorial formula for normalized characters of the symmetric groups in terms of free cumulants. We also express characters in terms of Frobenius coordinates. Our formulas involve counting certain factorizations of a given permutation. The main tool are Stanley polynomials which give values of characters on multirectangular Young diagrams. Résumé. Les cumulants libres sont des fo…
For a field $R$ of characteristic $p\ge 0$ and a matrix $c$ in the full $n\times n$ matrix algebra $M_n(R)$ over $R$, let $S_n(c,R)$ be the centralizer algebra of $c$ in $M_n(R)$. We show that $S_n(c,R)$ is a Frobenius-finite, $1$-Auslander-Gorenstein, and gendo-symmetric algebra, and that the extension $S_n(c,R)\subseteq M_n(R)$ is separable and Frobenius. Further, we study the isomorphism problem of invariant matrix algebras. Let $σ$ be a permutation in the symmetric group $Σ_n$ and $c_σ$ the corresponding permutation matrix in $M_n(R)$. We give sufficient and necessary conditions for the in…
In this paper, we determine the bound of the valency of Cayley graphs of Frobenius groups with respect to normal Cayley subsets which guarantees to be Ramanujan. We see that if the ratio between the orders of the Frobenius kernel and complement is not so small, then this bound coincides with the trivial one coming from the trivial estimate of the largest non-trivial eigenvalue of the graphs. Moreover, in the cases of the dihedral groups of order twice odd primes, which are special cases of the Frobenius groups, we determine the same bound for the Cayley graphs of the groups with respect to not…
A standard observation in algebraic geometry and number theory is that a ramified cover of an algebraic variety $\widetilde{X}\rightarrow X$ over a finite field $F_q$ furnishes the rational points $x\in X(F_q)$ with additional arithmetic structure: the Frobenius action on the fiber over $x$. For example, in the case of the Vieta cover of polynomials over $F_q$ this structure describes a polynomial's irreducible decomposition type. Furthermore, the distribution of these Frobenius actions is encoded in the cohomology of $\widetilde{X}$ via the Grothendieck-Lefschetz trace formula. This note pres…
