Exotic quarkonia are candidates to new types of hadrons including four quarks or gluonic degrees of freedom as constituents, the latter being a unique feature of QCD. We review recent developments in nonrelativistic EFTs to describe exotic quarkonia and in particular recent results on the spectrum of heavy hybrids including spin-dependent contributions up to $1/m_Q^2$-terms in the heavy-quark-mass expansion. We determine the nonperturbative contributions to the matching coefficients of the EFT by fitting our results to lattice-QCD determinations of the charmonium hybrid spectrum and extrapolate the results to the bottomonium hybrid sector where lattice-QCD determinations are still challenging. We also report on a recent new approach to quarkonium hadronic transitions that does not use the twist expansion and uses the hybrid spectrum as the intermediate octet states.
A singly heavy baryon can be considered as a state consisting of the $N_c-1$ light valence quarks that create the pion mean field in the large $N_c$ limit. In the limit of the infinitely heavy quark mass, a heavy quark inside a singly heavy baryon is regarded as a mere static color source. It is required only to make the singly heavy baryon a color singlet. Thus, the $N_c-1$ valence quarks govern quark dynamics inside the singly heavy baryon. Within this pion mean field framework, we investigate the twist-2 unpolarized and longitudinally polarized light-quark distribution functions inside char…
Quarkonia are some of the most important probes of the medium created in relativistic heavy ion collision experiments, but it is still difficult to get quantitative results for its behavior in the plasma. Here I discuss the decay width of a heavy quarkonium system, and calculate the gluodissociation width of bottomonia. In the end I comment on study of quarkonia as open quantum systems.
We investigate the instanton effects on the heavy-quark potential, including its spin-dependent part, based on the instanton liquid model. Starting with the central potential derived from the instanton vacuum, we obtain the spin-dependent part of the heavy-quark potential. We discuss the results of the heavy-quark potential from the instanton vacuum. We finally solve the nonrelativistic two-body problem, associating with the heavy-quark potential from the instanton vacuum. The instanton effects on the quarkonia spectra are marginal but are required for quantitative description of the spectra.
A scheme is presented here to cancel out the topologically unfactorized infrared divergences in the inclusive production of heavy quarkonia, which affect the NRQCD factorization of these processes. The heavy quarkonia are defined as resonance states of QCD instead of color singlet heavy quark pair. Thus the final heavy quark pair is nor necessarily to be color singlet. In addition, the heavy quarkonia are reconstructed by their decay products. As the result, transition between states containing containing heavy quarks caused by exchanges of soft gluons are also taken into account here. Such ca…
The QCD vacuum is populated by instantons that correspond to the tunneling processes in the vacuum. This mechanism creates the strong vacuum gluon fields. As result, the QCD vacuum instantons induce very strong interactions between light quarks, initially almost massless. Such a strong interactions bring a large dynamical mass M of the light quarks and bound them to produce almost massless pions in accordance with the spontaneous breaking of the chiral symmetry (SBCS). On the other hand, the QCD vacuum instantons also interact with heavy quarks and responsible for the generation of the heavy-h…
Within the framework of nonrelativistic quark-antiquark Cornell potential model formalism, we study the annihilation of heavy quarkonia. We determine their annihilation widths resulting into digluon, dilepton, $3γ$, $3g$ and $γgg$ and compare our findings with the available theoretical results and experimental data. We also provide the charge radii and absolute square of radial Schrödinger wave function at zero quark-antiquark separation for heavy quarkonia and $B_c$ mesons.
QCD vacuum instantons induce very strong interactions between light quarks, which generate large dynamical light quark mass M for initially almost massless quarks and can bound these quarks to produce almost massless pions in accordance with the spontaneous breaking of chiral symmetry (S\chiSB). On the other hand, the QCD vacuum instantons generate heavy-light quark interactions terms, which are responsible for the effects of S\chiSB in a heavy-light quark system. Summing the re-scattering series that lead to the total light quark propagator and making few further steps, we get the fermionized…
