Co-uniform and hollow S-acts over monoids

In this paper, we first introduce the notions of superfluous and coessential subacts. Then hollow and co-uniform S-acts are defined as the acts that all proper subacts are superfluous and coessential, respectively. Also it is indicated that the class of hollow S-acts is properly between two classes of indecomposable and locally cyclic S-acts. Moreover, using the notion of radical of an S-act as the intersection of all maximal subact, the relations between hollow and local S-acts are investigated. Ultimately, the notion of a supplement of a subact is defined to characterize the union of hollow S-act.

Separability conditions in acts over monoids

We discuss residual finiteness and several related separability conditions for the class of monoid acts, namely weak subact separability, strong subact separability and complete separability. For each of these four separability conditions, we investigate which monoids have the property that all their (finitely generated) acts satisfy the condition. A short note on strongly flat covers of acts over monoids

Recently two different concepts of covers of acts over monoids have been studied. That based on coessential epimorphisms and that based on Enochs' definition of a flat cover of a module over a ring. Two recent papers have suggested that in the former case, strongly flat covers are not unique. We show that these examples are in fact false and so the question of uniqueness appears to still remain open. In the latter case, we re-present an example due to Kruml that demonstrates that, unlike the case for flat covers of modules, strongly flat covers of S-acts do not always exist.

Covers of acts over monoids II

In 1981 Edgar Enochs conjectured that every module has a flat cover and finally proved this in 2001. Since then a great deal of effort has been spent on studying different types of covers, for example injective and torsion free covers. Generators and presentations for direct and wreath products of monoid acts

We investigate the preservation of the properties of being finitely generated and finitely presented under both direct and wreath products of monoid acts. A monoid $M$ is said to preserve property $\mathcal{P}$ in direct products if, for any two $M$-acts $A$ and $B$, the direct product $A\times B$ has property $\mathcal{P}$ if and only if both $A$ and $B$ have property $\mathcal{P}$. An introduction to presentations of monoid acts: quotients and subacts

The purpose of this paper is to introduce the theory of presentations of monoids acts. We aim to construct `nice' general presentations for various act constructions pertaining to subacts and Rees quotients. More precisely, given an $M$-act $A$ and a subact $B$ of $A$, on the one hand we construct presentations for $B$ and the Rees quotient $A/B$ using a presentation for $A$, and on the other hand we derive a presentation for $A$ from presentations for $B$ and $A/B$. Perfect monoids with zero and categories of $S$-acts

In this paper, we study the relationship between the two main categories of $S$-acts for a monoid $S$ with zero from the viewpoint of existence of projective covers and the equivalence is proven. Furthermore, monoids with zeros over which all compact acts are cyclic are characterized.

Coherency for monoids and purity for their acts

This article examines the three-way relationship between right coherency of a monoid $S$, solutions of equations over $S$-acts, and injectivity properties of $S$-acts. A monoid $S$ is right coherent if every finitely generated subact of every finitely presented (right) $S$-act itself has a finite presentation. In 2001 Enoch's celebrated flat cover conjecture was finally proven and the proofs (two different proofs were presented in the same paper [4]) have since generated a great deal of interest among researchers. Free idempotent generated semigroups and endomorphism monoids of free $G$-acts

Nakayama's Lemma on $\textbf{Act}-S$

A crucial lemma on module theory is Nakayama's lemma \cite{AF}. In this article, we shall investigate some forms of Nakayama's lemma in the category of right acts over a given monoid $S$ with identity 1.
