An important class of fractional differential and integral operators is given by the theory of fractional calculus with respect to functions, sometimes called $Ψ$-fractional calculus. The operational calculus approach has proved useful for understanding and extending this topic of study. Motivated by fractional differential equations, we present an operational calculus approach for Laplace transforms with respect to functions and their relationship with fractional operators with respect to functions. This approach makes the generalised Laplace transforms much easier to analyse and to apply in practice. We prove several important properties of these generalised Laplace transforms, including an inversion formula, and apply it to solve some fractional differential equations, using the operational calculus approach for efficient solving.
Although fractional powers of non-negative operators have received much attention in recent years, there is still little known about their behavior if real-valued exponents are greater than one. In this article, we define and study the discrete fractional Laplace operator of arbitrary real-valued positive order. A series representation of the discrete fractional Laplace operator for positive non-integer powers is developed. Its convergence to a series representation of a known case of positive integer powers is proven as the power tends to the integer value. Furthermore, we show that the new r…
In this paper we provide an integral representation of the fractional Laplace-Beltrami operator for general riemannian manifolds which has several interesting applications. We give two different proofs, in two different scenarios, of essentially the same result. One of them deals with compact manifolds with or without boundary, while the other approach treats the case of riemannian manifolds without boundary whose Ricci curvature is uniformly bounded below.
In the paper, we derive a sensitivity result for a nonlinear fractional ordinary elliptic system on a bounded interval with Dirichlet boundary conditions. More precisely, using a global implicit function theorem, we show that, for any functional parameter, there exists a unique solution to such a problem and dependence of solutions on functional parameters is continuously differentiable.
Motivated from studies on anomalous diffusion, we show that the memory function $M(t)$ of complex materials, that their creep compliance follows a power law, $J(t)\sim t^q$ with $q\in \mathbb{R}^+$, is the fractional derivative of the Dirac delta function, $\frac{\mathrm{d}^qδ(t-0)}{\mathrm{d}t^q}$ with $q\in \mathbb{R}^+$. This leads to the finding that the inverse Laplace transform of $s^q$ for any $q\in \mathbb{R}^+$ is the fractional derivative of the Dirac delta function, $\frac{\mathrm{d}^qδ(t-0)}{\mathrm{d}t^q}$. This result, in association with the convolution theorem, makes possible t…
Several approaches to the formulation of a fractional theory of calculus of "variable order" have appeared in the literature over the years. Unfortunately, most of these proposals lack a rigorous mathematical framework. We consider an alternative view on the problem, originally proposed by G. Scarpi in the early seventies, based on a naive modification of the representation in the Laplace domain of standard kernels functions involved in (constant-order) fractional calculus. We frame Scarpi's ideas within recent theory of General Fractional Derivatives and Integrals, that mostly rely on the Son…
In this note we propose a generalization of the Laplace and Fourier transforms which we call symmetric Laplace transform. It combines both the advantages of the Fourier and Laplace transforms. We give the definition of this generalization, some examples and basic properties. We also give the form of its inverse by using the theory of the Fourier transform. Finally, we apply the symmetric Laplace transform to a parabolic problem and to an ordinary differential equation.
The solution of some fractional differential equations is the hottest topic in fractional calculus field. The fractional distributed order reaction-diffusion equation is the aim of this paper. By applying integral transform to solve this type of fractional differential equations, we have obtained the analytical solution by using Laplace-Sumudu transform.
Two $(p,q)$-Laplace transforms are introduced and their relative properties are stated and proved. Applications are made to solve some $(p,q)$-linear difference equations.
In this paper, we generalized the known Laplace-transform final-value theorem. From our conclusion, one can deduce the existing results in [1, 3, 12]. By using final value theorem, we give a new proof that Caputo fractional differential equations have no nonconstant periodic solution.
We obtain necessary and sufficient conditions on a function in order that it be the Laplace transform of an absolutely monotonic function. Several closely related results are also given.
We introduce four q-analogs of the double Laplace transform and prove some of their main properties. Next we show how they can be used to solve some q-functional equations and partial q-differential equations.
In the present research article, we investigate solutions for fractional kinetic equations, involving $\mathtt{k}$-Struve functions, some of the salient properties of which we present. The method used is Laplace transform based. the methodology and results can be adopted and extended to various related fractional problems in mathematical physics.
Sufficient conditions are given for a function $F(p)$, analytic in Re$p>0$, to be a Laplace transform of a function $f(t)$, such that $max_{t\ge 0}|f(t)|<\infty$, $f(0)=0$.
We introduce three representation formulas for the fractional $p$-Laplace operator in the whole range of parameters $0<s<1$ and $1<p<\infty$. Note that for $p\ne 2$ this a nonlinear operator. The first representation is based on a splitting procedure that combines a renormalized nonlinearity with the linear heat semigroup. The second adapts the nonlinearity to the Caffarelli-Silvestre linear extension technique. The third one is the corresponding nonlinear version of the Balakrishnan formula. We also discuss the correct choice of the constant of the fractional $p$-Laplace operator in order to …
In this short note, using the variable-order differential operator introduced by means of the inverse Laplace transform \cite{coimbra}, we questioned the result obtained by Yang and Tenreiro Machado \cite{yang}.
This paper uses the convolution theorem of the Laplace transform to derive new inverse Laplace transforms for the product of two parabolic cylinder functions in which the arguments may have opposite sign. These transforms are subsequently specialized for products of the error function and its complement thereby yielding new integral representations for products of the latter two functions. The transforms that are derived in this paper also allow to correct two inverse Laplace transforms that are widely reported in the literature and subsequently uses one of the corrected expressions to obtain …
