We propose to study the flavor properties of the top quark at the future Circular Electron Positron Collider (CEPC) in China. We systematically consider the full set of 56 real parameters that characterize the flavor-changing neutral interactions of the top quark, which can be tested at CEPC in the single top production channel. Compared with the current bounds from the LEP2 data and the projected limits at the high-luminosity LHC, we find that CEPC could improve the limits of the four-fermion flavor-changing coefficients by one to two orders of magnitude, and would also provide similar sensitivity for the two-fermion flavor-changing coefficients. Overall, CEPC could explore a large fraction of currently allowed parameter space that will not be covered by the LHC upgrade. We show that the $c$-jet tagging capacity at CEPC could further improve its sensitivity to top-charm flavor-changing couplings. If a signal is observed, the kinematic distribution as well as the $c$-jet tagging could be exploited to pinpoint the various flavor-changing couplings, providing valuable information about the flavor properties of the top quark.
In the Circular Electron Positron Collider (CEPC), a measurement of the Higgs CP mixing through $e^{+} e^{-} \rightarrow Z H \rightarrow l^{+} l^{-}(e^{+} e^{-} /μ^{+} μ^{-}) H(\rightarrow b \bar{b} / c \bar{c} / g g)$ process is presented, with $5.6\ \mbox{ab}^{-1}$ $e^{+} e^{-}$ collision data at the center-of-mass energy of $240\ \mathrm{GeV}$. In this study, the CP-violating parameter $\tilde{c}_{Z γ}$ is constrained between the region of $ -0.30$ and $0.27$ and $\tilde{c}_{Z Z}$ between $-0.06$ and $0.06$ at $68\%$ confidence level. This study demonstrates the great potential of probing H…
The non-unitarity of the leptonic mixing matrix is a generic signal of new physics aiming at the generation of the observed neutrino masses. We discuss the Minimal Unitarity Violation (MUV) scheme, an effective field theory framework which represents the class of extensions of the Standard Model (SM) by heavy neutral leptons, and discuss the present bounds on the non-unitarity parameters as well as estimates for the sensitivity of the Circular Electron Positron Collider (CEPC), based on the performance parameters from the preCDR.
When dark matter candidate and its parent particles are nearly degenerate, it would be difficult to probe them at the Large Hadron Collider directly. We propose to explore their quantum loop effects at the CEPC through the golden channel process $e^+e^-\to μ^+μ^-$. We use a renormalizable toy model consisting of a new scalar and a fermion to describe new physics beyond the Standard Model. The new scalar and fermion are general multiplets of the $SU(2)_L\times U(1)_Y$ symmetry, and couple to the muon lepton through Yukawa interaction. We calculate their loop contributions to anomalous $γμ^+μ^-$…
We employ the low energy Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM) to explore the parameter space associated with $Z$-pole and Higgs-pole solutions. Such parameter spaces can not only saturate the cold dark matter relic density bound within 5$σ$ set by the Planck 2018, but also satisfy the other standard collider mass bounds and B-physics bounds. In particular, we show that the right-handed selectron can be light. Thus, we propose a search for the relatively heavier right-handed selectron at the future lepton colliders with the center-of-mass energy $\sqrt{s}=240$ GeV and integrated luminos…
We study angular observables in the $e^+e^-\to Z H\to \ell^+ \ell^-\,b\bar{b}$ channel at future circular $e^+ e^-$ colliders such as CEPC and FCC-ee. Taking into account the impact of realistic cut acceptance and detector effects, we forecast the precision of six angular asymmetries at CEPC (FCC-ee) with center-of-mass energy $\sqrt{s} =$ 240 GeV and 5 (30) ${\rm ab}^{-1}$ integrated luminosity. We then determine the projected sensitivity to a range of operators relevant for the Higgs-strahlung process in the dimension-6 Higgs EFT. Our results show that angular observables provide complementa…
Non-Abelian discrete symmetries provide an interesting opportunity to address the flavor puzzle in the lepton sector. However, the number of currently viable models based on such symmetries is rather large. High-precision measurements of the leptonic mixing parameters by future neutrino experiments, including ESSnuSB, T2HK, DUNE, and JUNO, will be crucial to test such models. We show that the complementarity among these experiments offers a powerful tool for narrowing down this broad class of lepton flavor models.
We systematically study model-independent constraints on the three generic charged Higgs couplings to $b$-quarks and up-type quarks. While existing LHC searches have focussed on the $tb$ coupling, we emphasize that the LHC plays a crucial role in probing also $ub$ and $cb$ couplings, since constraints from flavor physics are weak. In particular we propose various new searches that can significantly extend the present reach on the parameter space by: i) looking for light charged Higgses that decay into $ub$-quarks, ii) probing charged Higgs couplings to light and top quarks using multi-$b$-jet …
Recently, it was pointed out that the electron and muon g-2 discrepancies can be explained simultaneously by a flavor-violating axion-like particle (ALP). We show that the parameter regions favored by the muon g-2 are already excluded by the muonium-antimuonium oscillation bound. In contrast, those for the electron g-2 can be consistent with this bound when the ALP is heavier than 1.5 GeV. We propose to search for a signature of the same-sign and same-flavor lepton pairs and the forward-backward muon asymmetry to test the model at the Belle II experiment.
We propose a method to probe the coupling of the Higgs to strange quarks by tagging strange jets at future lepton colliders. For this purpose we describe a jet-flavor observable, $J_F$, that is correlated with the flavor of the quark associated with the hard part of the jet. Using this variable, we set up a strangeness tagger aimed at studying the decay $h\to s\bar{s}$. We determine the sensitivity of our method to the strange Yukawa coupling, and find it to be of the order of the standard-model expectation.
If the LHC experiments discover new particles that couple to the Standard Model fermions, then measurements by ATLAS and CMS can contribute to our understanding of the flavor puzzles. We demonstrate this statement by investigating a scenario where extra SU(2)-singlet down-type quarks are within the LHC reach. By measuring masses, production cross sections and relative decay rates, minimal flavor violation (MFV) can in principle be excluded. Conversely, these measurements can probe the way in which MFV applies to the new degrees of freedom. Many of our conclusions are valid in a much more gener…
The next-generation lepton colliders, such as CEPC, FCC-ee, and ILC will make precision measurement of the Higgs boson properties. We first extract the Higgs coupling precision from Higgs observables at CEPC to illustrate the potential of future lepton colliders. Depending on the related event rates, the precision can reach percentage level for most couplings. Then, we try to estimate the new physics scales that can be indirectly probed with Higgs and electroweak precision observables. The Higgs observables, together with the existing electroweak precision observables, can probe new physics up…
If neutrino tribimaximal mixing is explained by a non-Abelian discrete symmetry such as $A_4$, $T_7$, $Δ(27)$, etc., the charged-lepton Higgs sector has a $Z_3$ residual symmetry (lepton flavor triality), which may be observed directly in the decay chain $H^0 \to ψ_2^0 \barψ_2^0$, then $ψ_2^0 (\barψ_2^0) \to l_i^+ l_j^- ~(i \neq j)$, where $H^0$ is a standard-model-like Higgs boson and $ψ_2^0$ is a scalar particle needed for realizing the original discrete symmetry. If kinematically allowed, this unusual and easily detectable decay is observable at the LHC with 1 fb$^{-1}$ for E_{cm} = 7 TeV.
The lepton flavor violating process $J/ψ\to ll' (l\neq l')$ serves as an ideal place to probe the unparticle theory. Such process can only occur at loop level in the Standard model (SM), so that should be very suppressed, by contrast in unparticle scenario, it happens at tree level and its contribution may be sizable for practical measurement. Moreover, the BESIII will offer the largest database on $J/ψ$ which makes more accurate measurements possible. Furthermore, for such purely leptonic decays background is relatively low and signal would be cleaner. Our work carefully investigates the poss…
The ``anarchic'' Randall-Sundrum model of flavor is a low energy solution to both the electroweak hierarchy and flavor problems. Such models have a warped, compact extra dimension with the standard model fermions and gauge bosons living in the bulk, and the Higgs living on or near the TeV brane. In this paper we consider bounds on these models set by lepton flavor violation constraints. We find that loop-induced decays of the form l->l'+gamma are ultraviolet sensitive and uncalculable when the Higgs field is localized on a four-dimensional brane; this drawback does not occur when the Higgs fie…
The $ZZγ$ triple neutral gauge couplings are absent in the Standard Model (SM) at the tree level. They receive no contributions from dimension-6 effective operators, but can arise from effective operators of dimension-8. We study the scale of new physics associated with such dimension-8 operators that can be probed by measuring the reaction $e^+e^-\to Zγ$, followed by $Z \to \ell\bar{\ell},ν\barν$ decays, at future $e^+e^-$ colliders including the ILC, CEPC, FCC-ee and CLIC. We demonstrate how angular distributions of the final state mono-photon and leptons can play a key role in suppressing S…
This is a written version of a series of lectures aimed at graduate students and postdoctoral fellows in particle theory/string theory/particle experiment familiar with the basics of the Standard Model. We begin with an overview of flavor physics and its implications for new physics. We emphasize the "new physics flavor puzzle". Then, we give four specific examples of flavor measurements and the lessons that have been (or can be) drawn from them: (i) Charm physics: lessons for supersymmetry from the upper bound on $Δm_D$. (ii) Bottom physics: model independent lessons on the KM mechanism and o…
We have studied $CPT$ violation in neutrino oscillation considering three flavor framework with matter effect. We have constructed a new way to find the oscillation probability incorporating $CPT$ violating terms without any approximation. Then $CPT$ violation with atmospheric neutrinos for a magnetized iron calorimeter detector considering the muons (directly measurable with high resolution) of the charge current events has been studied for zero and nonzero $θ_{13}$ values. It is found that a potential bound of $δb_{32} \lapp 6\times 10^{-24}$ GeV at 99% CL can be obtained with 1 Mton.year ex…
We investigate the bounds on tau-mu lepton flavor violation (LFV). Our main focus is on the collider constrains on tau-mu LFV. We use the Type-III Two-Higgs-Doublet-Model (2HDM) as a set up for our study. While the LFV branching fraction of the 125 GeV is well constrained by current LHC searches, the heavier neutral states could have a large branching fraction to tau and muon. We estimate the LHC reach for the 13 TeV center of mass energy with 300 $\text{fb}^{-1}$ luminosity for a neutral boson decaying into a tau and a muon. We identify parts of the LFV parameter space where the searches for …
We study charged lepton flavor violation associated with a light leptophilic axion-like particle (ALP), $X$, at the $B$-factory experiment Belle II. We focus on production of the ALP in the tau decays $τ\to X l$ with $l=e,μ$, followed by its decay via $X\to l^- l^+$. The ALP can be either promptly decaying or long-lived. We perform Monte-Carlo simulations, recasting a prompt search at Belle for lepton-flavor-violating $τ$ decays, and propose a displaced-vertex (DV) search. For both types of searches, we derive the Belle~II sensitivity reaches in both the product of branching fractions and the …
The flavor structure in unified theory is probed with superparticle mass spectrum observed in future particle experiments. A key ingredient is the generation dependence of scalar mass non-degeneracy. The observed non-degeneracy in low-energy regime is shown to provide a direct imprint of flavor structure in high-energy fundamental theory. The implication from flavor-violating rare process is also discussed.

Due to the very large mass of the top-quark, probing the flavor changing top-charm-scalar vertex is clearly very important. Fortunately the largeness of $m_t$ endows a unique signature to the resulting reaction i.e., $e^+e^-\to t\bar c (\bar t c)$ that should be helpful in identification of such events. A two Higgs doublet model, without natural flavor conservation, is used to give an illustrative estimate for the rate for these reactions.
We analyze the possibility of probing the supersymmetric flavor structure through the constraints of the K and B meson systems and those of the electric dipole moments. We show that combining these constraints would favor SUSY models with large flavor mixing either in LR(RL) or LL but with a very small RR and intermediate/large tan beta. Large LR mixing requires specific patterns for trilinear A-terms, while LL mixing seems quite natural and easier to obtain. We present an example for this class of models and show how it can accommodate the current CP asymmetries experimental results.

We examine relation between neutrino oscillation parameters and prediction of lepton flavor violation, in light of deviations from tri-bimaximal mixing. Our study shows that upcoming experimental searches for lepton flavor violation process can provide useful implications for neutrino mass spectrum and mixing angles. With simple structure of heavy right-handed neutrino and supersymmetry breaking sectors, the discovery of tau \to mu gamma decay determines neutrino mass hierarchy if large (order 0.1) reactor angle is established.
The subprocess $gg \to t\bar{c}+\bar{t}c$ in the two-Higgs-doublet model with flavor-changing scalar couplings is examined at the one loop level. With perturbative QCD factorization theorem, the corresponding cross sections for hadron-hadron collisions are computed numerically. The results are applicable to the whole mass range of the weakly coupled Higgs bosons. In case we could efficiently exclude the severe backgrounds of the $t\bar{c}(\bar{t}c)$ production signal, probing the flavor-changing top-charm-scalar vertex at hadron colliders would be very promising and accessible experimentally.
Low-energy experiments involving kaon, B-meson, D-meson, and hyperon flavor-changing neutral transitions have confirmed the loop-induced flavor-changing neutral current (FCNC) picture of the standard model (SM). The continuing study of these processes is essential to further refine this picture and ultimately understand the flavor dynamics. In this paper we consider deviations from the SM in the charm sector and their effect on FCNC processes. Specifically, we parameterize new physics in terms of left- and right-handed anomalous couplings of the W boson to the charm quark. We present a compreh…
We examine the subprocess $γγ\to t\bar{c}+\bar{t}c$ at electron-positron colliders in the two-Higgs-doublet model with flavor-changing scalar couplings, where all the one-loop contribuions are considered, and the results are applicable to the whole mass range of the weakly coupled Higgs bosons. Because of the heavy top quark mass, this process is important in probing the flavor-changing top-charm-scalar vertex and could be detectable at the Next Linear Collider, if the values of the parameters are favorable. The results show that this process is more promising than the direct $e^{+} e^{-}$ pro…
$SU(2)_L$-invariance links charged dilepton $\bar q\,q^\prime\,\ell^+\,\ell^-$ and dineutrino $\bar q\, q^\prime\, \barν\,ν$ couplings. This connection can be established using the Standard Model Effective Field Theory framework, and allows to perform complementary experimental tests of lepton universality and charged lepton flavor conservation with flavor-summed dineutrino observables. We present its phenomenological implications for the branching ratios of rare charm decays $c\to u\,ν\,\barν$ and rare $B$ decays $b\to s\,\barν\,ν$ decays.
We explore a Z' boson with family-nonuniversal couplings to charged leptons. The general effect of Z-Z' mixing, of both kinetic and mass types, is included in the analysis. Adopting a model-independent approach, we perform a comprehensive study of constraints on the leptonic Z' couplings from currently available experimental data on a number of flavor-conserving and flavor-changing transitions. Detailed comparisons are made to extract the most stringent bounds on the leptonic couplings. Such information is fed into predictions of various processes that may be experimentally probed in the near …
Supersymmetric theories with significant lepton flavor violation have $\tilde{e}$ and $\tildeμ$ nearly degenerate. In this case, pair production of $\tilde{e}^+ \tilde{e}^-$ and $\tildeμ^+ \tildeμ^-$ at LEPII and at the Next Linear Collider leads to the phenomenon of slepton oscillations, which is analogous to neutrino oscillations. The reach in $Δm^2$ and $\sin^2 2 θ$ gives a probe of lepton flavor violation which is significantly more powerful than the current bounds from rare processes, such as $μ\to eγ$. Polarizable $e^-$ beams and the $e^-e^-$ mode at the NLC are found to be promising opt…
We study the sensitivity of future electron-positron colliders to UV completions of the fermionic Higgs portal operator $H^\dagger H \bar χχ$. Measurements of precision electroweak $S$ and $T$ parameters and the $e^+e^- \to Zh$ cross section at the CEPC, FCC-ee, and ILC are considered. The scalar completion of the fermionic Higgs portal is closely related to the scalar Higgs portal, and we summarize existing results. We devote the bulk of our analysis to a singlet-doublet fermion completion. Assuming the doublet is sufficiently heavy, we construct the effective field theory (EFT) at dimension-…
Precision measurements of heavy-flavor hadroproduction at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) have the ability to probe heavy-flavor parton distribution functions (PDFs) in the proton. Sensitivity of inclusive $B^\pm$ meson production cross section measurements at LHCb 13 TeV to the bottom-quark PDF is illustrated by using theory predictions obtained with a the S-ACOT-MPS general mass variable flavor number (GMVFN) scheme within the QCD factorization formula. This approach can easily be extended to other heavy-flavor production processes, such as $Z$ boson production in association with a bottom- …
In this work, we probe a class of neutrino mass models through the lepton flavor violating interactions of a singlet charged scalar, $S^{\pm}$ at the LHC proton-proton collisions with 8 TeV and 14 TeV energies. This scalar couples to the leptons and induces many processes such as $pp\rightarrow\ell^{\pm}\ell^{\pm}\ell^{\mp}+\slashed{E}_{T}$. In our analysis we discuss the opposite sign same flavor leptons signal, as well as the background free channel with the tau contribution which can enhance the signal/background ratio for center of mass energies $\sqrt{s}$= 8 TeV and $\sqrt{s}$ = 14 TeV.
In the framework of minimal flavor violation (MFV), we discuss the decay properties of a supersymmetric scalar top (stop) in the presence of a light gravitino. Given a small mass difference between the lighter stop and lightest neutralino and an otherwise sufficiently decoupled spectrum, the stop may be long-lived and thus can provide support to MFV at hadron colliders. For a bino-like lightest neutralino, we apply bounds from searches in the gamma gamma plus missing transverse energy channel (ATLAS with 1 fb^-1 and D0 with 6.3 fb^-1) and give a 5 fb^-1 projection for the ATLAS search.
If massive neutrinos are Majorana particles, then the lepton number should be violated and neutrino-antineutrino oscillations will take place. In this talk, we present the properties of CP violation in neutrino-antineutrino oscillations with a non-unitary leptonic flavor mixing matrix, which naturally arises in the type-I seesaw model due to the mixing between light and heavy Majorana neutrinos. Taking into account current experimental bounds on the leptonic unitarity violation, we show that the CP asymmetries induced by the non-unitary mixing parameters can significantly deviate from those in…
We study nonperturbative flavor correlations between pairs of leading and next-to-leading charged hadrons within jets at the Electron-Ion Collider (EIC). We introduce a charge correlation ratio observable $r_c$ that distinguishes same- and opposite-sign charged pairs. Using Monte Carlo simulations with different event generators, $r_c$ is examined as a function of various kinematic variables for different combinations of hadron species, and the feasibility of such measurements at the EIC is demonstrated. The precision hadronization study we propose will provide new tests of hadronization model…
The addition of a high intensity 11 GeV polarized positron beam at the Continuous Electron Beam Accelerator Facility (CEBAF) at JLAB would allow for a search of Charged Lepton Flavor Violation (CLFV) via the process $e^+N \rightarrow μ^+ X$. The proposed Solenoidal Large Intensity Detector (SoLID) spectrometer, in the configuration with muon chambers, would be ideal for such CLFV searches. Various new physics scenarios, including the phenomenologically convenient Leptoquark (LQ) framework, predict CLFV rates that are within reach of current or planned experiments. A positron beam with instanta…
We discuss the formulation of the general two-Higgs doublet model type III, which incorporates flavor changing neutral scalar interactions (FCNSI) and CP violation from several sources. CP violation can arise either from Yukawa terms or from the Higgs potential, and it can explicit or spontaneous. We discuss the case that includes CP violation with Yukawa textures to control FCNSI and evaluate the CP asymmetry for the decay h-> c-b+ W-, which may allow to test the patterns of FCNSI and CP violation, that arises in these models.
In the littlest Higgs model with T-parity, the new interactions between the mirror leptons and the Standard Model leptons can induce some lepton flavor violation (LFV) processes at loop level. We study the possibility of the ILC to probe the LFV production processes $e^+e^-(γγ)\rightarrow l_{i}\bar{l}_{j}$. Our results show that the rates of $γγ\rightarrow l_{i}\bar{l}_{j}$ can reach 1 fb in optimal cases after reasonable kinematical cuts, which implies that these processes may be observed at the ILC.
We examine the implications of a recently proposed theory of fermion masses and mixings in which an $A_4$ family symmetry emerges from orbifold compactification. We analyse two variant schemes concerning their predictions for neutrino oscillations, neutrinoless double-beta decay and the golden quark-lepton unification mass relation. We find that upcoming experiments DUNE as well as LEGEND and nEXO offer good chances of exploring a substantial region of neutrino parameters.
