Both high- and low-velocity outflows are occasionally observed around a protostar by molecular line emission. The high-velocity component is called `Extremely High-Velocity (EHV) flow,' while the low-velocity component is simply referred as `(molecular) outflow.' This study reports a newly found EHV flow and outflow around MMS $5$ in the Orion Molecular Cloud 3 observed with ALMA. In the observation, CO $J$=2--1 emission traces both the EHV flow ($|v_{\rm{LSR}} - v_{\rm{sys}}|$ $\simeq$ 50--100 $\rm{km\ s^{-1}}$) and outflow ($|v_{\rm{LSR}} - v_{\rm{sys}}|$ $\simeq$ 10--50 $\rm{km\ s^{-1}}$). On the other hand, SiO $J$=5--4 emission only traces the EHV flow. The EHV flow is collimated and located at the root of the V-shaped outflow. The CO outflow extends up to $\sim$ 14,000\,AU with a position angle (P.A.) of $\sim79^\circ$ and the CO redshifted EHV flow extends to $\sim$11,000 AU with P.A. $\sim96^\circ$. The EHV flow is smaller than the outflow, and the dynamical timescale of the EHV flow is shorter than that of the outflow by a factor of $\sim 3$. The flow driving mechanism is discussed based on the size, time scale, axis difference between the EHV flow and outflow, and the periodicity of the knots. Our results are consistent with the nested wind scenario, although the jet entrainment scenario could not completely be ruled out.
Using the Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA), we investigated a peculiar millimeter source MMS 3 located in the Orion Molecular Cloud 3 (OMC-3) region in the 1.3 mm continuum, CO ($J$=2-1), SiO ($J$=5-4), C$^{18}$O ($J$=2-1), N$_2$D$^+$ ($J$=3-2), and DCN ($J$=3-2) emissions. With the ALMA high angular resolution ($\sim$0''.2), we detected a very compact and highly centrally condensed continuum emission with a size of 0''.45 $\times$ 0''.32 (P.A.=0.22$^\circ$). The peak position coincides with the locations of previously reported $Spitzer$/IRAC and X-ray sources within their p…
We have carried out polarization calibration for archival JVLA ($\sim$9 mm) full polarization observations towards the Class 0 young stellar object (YSO) OMC-3/MMS 6 (also known as HOPS-87), and then compared with the archival ALMA 1.2 mm observations. We found that the innermost $\sim$100 au region of OMC-3/MMS 6 is likely very optically thick (e.g., $τ\gg$1) at $\sim$1 mm wavelength such that the dominant polarization mechanism is dichroic extinction. It is marginally optically thin (e.g., $τ\lesssim$1) at $\sim$9 mm wavelength such that the JVLA observations can directly probe the linearly …
We present ALMA (0.87~mm) and VLA (9~mm) observations toward OMC2-FIR4 and OMC2-FIR3 within the Orion integral-shaped filament that are thought to be the nearest regions of intermediate mass star formation. We characterize the continuum sources within these regions on $\sim$40~AU (0\farcs1) scales and associated molecular line emission at a factor of $\sim$30 better resolution than previous observations at similar wavelengths. We identify six compact continuum sources within OMC2-FIR4, four in OMC2-FIR3, and one additional source just outside OMC2-FIR4. This continuum emission is tracing the i…
The spectral energy distribution (SED) in the millimetre (mm) to centimetre (cm) range is a useful tool for characterising the dust in protostellar envelopes as well as free-free emission from the protostar and outflow. While many studies have been carried out towards low- and high-mass protostars, little exists so far about solar-type protostars in high-mass star-forming regions, which are likely to be representatives of the conditions where the Solar System was born. We focus here on the OMC-2/3 solar-type protostars, which are bounded by nearby HII regions and which are, therefore, potentia…
Most massive stars form in dense clusters where gravitational interactions with other stars may be common. The two nearest forming massive stars, the BN object and Source I, located behind the Orion Nebula, were ejected with velocities of $\sim$29 and $\sim$13 km s$^{-1}$ about 500 years ago by such interactions. This event generated an explosion in the gas. New ALMA observations show in unprecedented detail, a roughly spherically symmetric distribution of over a hundred $^{12}$CO J=2$-$1 streamers with velocities extending from V$_{LSR}$ =$-$150 to +145 km s$^{-1}$. The streamer radial veloci…
We present ALMA observations of the Orion Nebula that cover the OMC1 outflow region. Our focus in this paper is on compact emission from protoplanetary disks. We mosaicked a field containing $\sim 600$ near-IR-identified young stars, around which we can search for sub-mm emission tracing dusty disks. Approximately 100 sources are known proplyds identified with HST. We detect continuum emission at 1 mm wavelengths towards $\sim 20\%$ of the proplyd sample, and $\sim 8\%$ of the larger sample of near-IR objects. The noise in our maps allows 4$σ$ detection of objects brighter than $\sim 1.5$ mJy,…
We show the first interferometric maps of the 14N/15N ratio obtained with the Atacama Large Millimeter Array (ALMA) towards the Solar-like forming protocluster OMC-2 FIR4. We observed N2H+, 15NNH+, N15NH+ (1-0), and N2D+ (2-1), from which we derive the isotopic ratios 14N/15N and D/H. The target is one of the closest analogues of the environment in which our Sun may have formed. The ALMA images, having synthesised beam corresponding to ~600 au, show that the emission of the less abundant isotopologues is distributed in several cores of ~10" (i.e. ~0.02~pc or 4000 au) embedded in a more extende…
We report here Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA) N$_2$H$^+$ (1-0) images of the Orion Molecular Cloud 2 and 3 (OMC-2/3) with high angular resolution (3'' or 1200 au) and high spatial dynamic range. Combining dataset from the ALMA main array, ALMA Compact Array (ACA), the Nobeyama 45m Telescope, and the JVLA (providing temperature measurement on matching scales), we find that most of the dense gas in OMC-2/3 is subsonic ($\rm σ_{NT}/c_{s}$ = 0.62) with a mean line width ($Δ\upsilon$) of 0.39 km s$^{-1}$ FWHM. This is markedly different from the majority of previous observation…
We present a high angular resolution ($\sim1"$) and wide-field ($2'.9 \times 1'.9$) image of the 1.3-mm continuum, CO($J$ = 2--1) line, and SiO($J$ = 5--4) line emissions toward an embedded protocluster, FIR3, FIR4, and FIR5, in the Orion Molecular Cloud 2 obtained from the Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA). We identify 51 continuum sources, 36 of which are newly identified in this study. Their dust masses, projected sizes, and $\mathrm{H_2}$ gas number densities are estimated to be $3.8 \times 10^{-5}$--$ 1.1 \times 10^{-2} \mathrm{M_{\odot}}$, 290--2000 au, and $6.4 \times …
HH 211-mms is one of the youngest Class 0 protostellar systems in Perseus at ~ 235 pc away. We have mapped its central region at up to ~ 7 AU (0.03") resolution. A dusty disk is seen deeply embedded in a flattened envelope, with an intensity jump in dust continuum at ~ 350 GHz. It is nearly edge-on and is almost exactly perpendicular to the jet axis. It has a size of ~ 30 au along the major axis. It is geometrically thick, indicating that the (sub)millimeter light emitting grains have yet to settle to the midplane. Its inner part is expected to have transformed into a Keplerian rotating disk w…
We present ALMA CO ($J$=2--1) and 1.3 mm continuum observations of the high-velocity jet associated with the FIR 6b protostar located in the Orion Molecular Cloud-2. We detect a velocity gradient along the short axis of the jet in both the red- and blue-shifted components. The position-velocity diagrams along the short axis of the red-shifted jet show a typical characteristic of a rotating cylinder. We attribute the velocity gradient in the red-shifted component to rotation of the jet. The rotation velocity ($>20\,\ \rm{km s^{-1}}$) and specific angular momentum ($>10^{22}\, \rm{cm^{2}\, s^{-1…
We present the results of ALMA observations of dust continuum emission and molecular rotational lines toward a dense core MC27 (aka L1521F) in Taurus, which is considered to be at a very early stage of star formation. The detailed column density distribution on size scales from a few tens AU to ~10,000 AU scale are revealed by combining the ALMA (12 m array + 7 m array) data with the published/unpublished single-dish data. The high angular resolution observations at 0.87 mm with a synthesized beam size of ~0."74 x 0."32 reveal that a protostellar source, MMS-1, is not spatially resolved and la…
The study of the early phases of star and planet formation is important to understand the physical and chemical history of stellar systems such as our own. In particular, protostars born in rich clusters are prototypes of the young Solar System. In the framework of the Seeds Of Life In Space (SOLIS) large observational project, the aim of the present work is to investigate the origin of the previously inferred high flux of energetic particles in the protocluster FIR4 of the Orion Molecular Cloud 2 (OMC-2), which appears asymmetric within the protocluster itself. Interferometric observations ca…
The brightest continuum source in the Orion Molecular Cloud-3 region (OMC-3), MMS 6, was observed with the Very Large Array (VLA), the Nobeyama Millimeter Array (NMA), and the Submillimeter Array (SMA). Our data were supplemented by near- to mid-infrared archival data taken by Spitzer Space Telescope. The compact continuum source, MMS 6-main, was detected with an H_2 mass of 3.0 Msun with a size of 510 AU. Despite its compact and well condensed appearance, neither clear CO outflow, radio jet, nor infrared sources (at a wave-length shorter than 8 um) were detected at MMS 6-main even with the pr…
Isotopic fractionation is an important tool to investigate the chemical history of our Solar System (SS). In particular, the isotopic fraction of nitrogen (14N/15N) is lower in comets and other pristine SS bodies with respect to the value measured for the protosolar nebula, suggesting a local chemical enrichment of 15N during the SS formation. Therefore, interferometric studies of nitrogen fractionation in SS precursors are imperative for us to obtain clues about our astrochemical origins. In this work, we investigated the variation of the 14N/15N ratio in one of the closest analogues of the e…
We present ALMA 1.3 mm continuum, 12CO, C18O, and SO data for the Class 0 protostars, Lupus 3 MMS, IRAS 15398-3559, and IRAS 16253-2429 at resolutions of ~100 AU. By measuring a rotational profile in C18O, a 100 AU Keplerian disk around a 0.3 Msun protostar is observed in Lupus 3 MMS. No 100 AU Keplerian disks are observed in IRAS 15398-3559 and IRAS 16253-2429. Nevertheless, embedded compact (<30 AU) continuum components are detected. The C18O emission in IRAS 15398-3559 shows signatures of infall with a constant angular momentum. IRAS 16253-2429 exhibits signatures of infall and rotation, bu…
The earliest stages of low-mass star-formation are unclear, but it has been proposed that Chamaeleon-MMS1 is a candidate First Hydrostatic Core (FHSC), the transition stage between a prestellar and protostellar core. This work describes the local (~4000 AU) outflow activity associated with Chamaeleon-MMS1 and its effect on the surrounding material in order to determine the evolutionary state of this young low-mass source. We used the Atacama Large Millimeter/sub-millimeter Array (ALMA) to observe Chamaeleon MMS1 at 220 GHz at high spatial (~75 AU) and spectral resolutions (0.1-0.3 km/s). A low…
Understanding how material accretes onto the rotationally supported disk from the surrounding envelope of gas and dust in the youngest protostellar systems is important for describing how disks are formed. Magnetohydrodynamic simulations of magnetized, turbulent disk formation usually show spiral-like streams of material (accretion flows) connecting the envelope to the disk. However, accretion flows in these early stages of protostellar formation still remain poorly characterized due to their low intensity and possibly some extended structures are disregarded as being part of the outflow cavit…
The mass evolution of protoplanetary disks is driven by both internal processes and external factors, such as photoevaporation. Disentangling these two effects, however, has remained difficult. We measure the dust masses of a sample of 132 disks in the Orion Molecular Cloud (OMC)-2 region, and compare them to (i) externally photoevaporated disks in the Trapezium cluster, and (ii) disks in nearby low-mass star forming regions (SFRs). This allows us to test if initial disk properties are the same in high- and low-mass SFRs, and enables a direct measurement of the effect of external photoevaporat…
Hot corinos are compact regions around solar-mass protostellar objects that are very rich in interstellar complex organic molecules (iCOMs). They are believed to represent the very early phases of our Solar System's birth, which was very likely also characterized by rich organic chemistry. While most of the studied hot corinos are either isolated or born in a loose protocluster, our Sun was born in a densely packed star cluster, near massive stars whose ultraviolet radiation must have contributed to shaping the evolution of the surrounding environment. In addition, internal irradiation from en…
