A new suggestion for organizing the charged pseudo scalar mesons is presented. The simple Non-relativistic (NR) potential model employs a single value of the light quark mass and determines the potential coupling constant directly from the charged pseudo scalar mesons, pion and kaon, experimental charge radii values. All other constituent quark masses are directly dependent on the light quark mass value. The model compares features of the traditional approaches to the NR quark model as well as that of a Relativistic quark model. We explore the possibility of introducing flavor as a dynamic quantum number.
Flavor-changing neutral current in production and decay of pseudoscalar mesons in a type III two-Higgs-doublet-model with four-texture Yukawa couplings
In this paper, we study the pseudo-Wigner solution of the quark gap equation with a recently proposed algorithm in the framework of the (2+1)-flavor Nambu-Jona-Lasinio (NJL) model. We find that for the current quark mass $m_{\rm u,d}=5.5$ MeV and chemical potential $μ<μ_{\rm TCP}=272.5$ MeV, the Nambu solution and the positive pseudo-Wigner solution obtained via this algorithm is consistent with the physical solution obtained with the iterative method. Furthermore, the algorithm we used can help to illustrate the evolution of the solutions of the gap equation from the chiral limit to non-chira…
Within the framework of the generalized linear sigma model with glueballs recently proposed [1,2], we study the schematic spectroscopy of scalar and pseudoscalar mesons in the SU(3) flavor limit and explore their quark and glue contents. In this framework, for both scalars and pseudoscalars, the two octet physical states are admixtures of quark-antiquark and four-quark components, and the three singlet states contain quark-antiquark, four-quark and glue components. We identify the two scalar octets with $a_0(980)$ and $a_0(1450)$ and the two pseudoscalar octets with $π(137)$ and $π(1300)$. We …
The electroweak properties of light and charmed D and Ds pseudoscalar mesons are investigated within a unified covariant constituent quark model. The quark-antiquark-meson vertices are assumed to have a symmetric form by the exchange of quark momenta, which is successful in describing the light pseudoscalar meson properties. The flavor decomposition of the elastic electromagnetic form factors, electromagnetic charge radii, and weak decay constants are calculated. Based on the results a discussion on the SU(3) and SU(4) symmetry breaking is made and a comparison with the pion and kaon propertie…
We calculate the light quark condensate, the strange quark condensate, the pion condensate, and the axial condensate in three-flavor chiral perturbation theory ($χ$PT) in the presence of an isospin chemical potential at next-to-leading order at zero temperature. It is shown that the three-flavor $χ$PT effective potential and condensates can be mapped onto two-flavor $χ$PT ones by integrating out mesons with strange quark content (kaons and eta), with renormalized couplings. We compare the results for the light quark and pion condensates at finite pseudoscalar source with ($2+1$)-flavor lattice…
We study the scattering of the light-flavor pseudoscalar mesons ($π, K, η$) off the ground-state charmed mesons ($D,D_s$) within chiral effective field theory. The recent lattice simulation results on various scattering lengths and the finite-volume spectra both in the moving and center-of-mass frames, most of which are obtained at unphysical meson masses, are used to constrain the free parameters in our theory. Explicit formulas to include the $S$- and $P$-wave mixing to determine the finite-volume energy levels are provided. After a successful reproduction of the lattice data, we perform a c…
A possibility of a quark spin polarization originated from a pseudovector condensate is investigated in the three-flavor Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model with the Kobayashi-Maskawa-'t Hooft interaction which leads to flavor mixing. It is shown that a pseudovector condensate related to the strange quark easily occurs compared with pseudovector condensate related to light quarks. Further, it is shown that the pseudovector condensate related to the strange quark appears at a slightly small chemical potential by the effect of the flavor mixing due to the Kobayashi-Maskawa-'t Hooft interaction.
We study charged lepton flavor violation (CLFV) associated with heavy quark pair production in lepton-nucleon deep-inelastic scattering $\ell_i N \to \ell_j q\bar{q} X$. Here $\ell_i$ and $\ell_j$ denote the initial and final leptons; $N$ and $X$ are respectively the initial nucleon and arbitrary final hadronic system. We employ a model Lagrangian in which a scalar and pseudoscalar mediator generates the CLFV. We derive heavy quark structure functions for scalar and pseudoscalar currents and compute momentum distributions of the final lepton for the process. Our focus is on the heavy quark mas…
The recent B-meson anomalies are coherently explained at the TeV scale by 4321 gauge models with hierarchical couplings reminiscent of the Standard Model Yukawas. We show that such models arise as the low-energy limit of a complete theory of flavor, based on a warped fifth dimension where each Standard Model family is quasi-localized in a different brane. The Higgs is identified as a pseudo-Nambu-Goldstone boson emerging from the same dynamics responsible for 4321 symmetry breaking. This novel construction unifies quarks and leptons in a flavor non-universal manner, provides a natural descript…
