We reconsider a recently proposed warm G-inflation scenario in which the Galileon scalar field concurrently dissipates its kinetic energy as the radiation fluid throughout inflation and the universe smoothly enters into a radiation dominated era without going through the reheating phase. It is shown that the perturbed second-order Langevin equation can be nicely simplified and solved by defining the Galileon dissipation factor, $Q_{G} = \frac{Q}{\mathcal{B}}$, resulting in a power spectrum utilizing a Green function approach for the dissipative coefficient independent of temperature. However, for a dissipation coefficient depending on temperature, the perturbed inflaton and radiation field equations will be coupled in the high temperature regime. Therefore, the produced radiation backreacts on the power spectrum, modifying it with a growing mode function in the high dissipation regime. Finally, a model is proposed in which the standard Higgs boson dissipates into light mediator fields, for instance, fermions with a linear temperature dependent dissipative coefficient which can act as inflaton, thanks to the Galileon-like non-linear derivative interaction. The generated primordial perturbations in the G-dominant regime is in excellent agreement with Planck 2015 likelihood+ TTTEEE+BAO at large scales despite its large self-coupling $λ\sim 0.13$ through accommodating many light mediator fields. However, although such primordial perturbations may also get amplified by several orders of magnitude at small scales due to the presence of the growing mode function, warm G-inflation shows a striking feature in that the growing mode can be controlled or completely disappeared by decreasing the value of the propagating sound speed $c_{s}$.
We discuss under which conditions multi-field cold and warm inflationary models with canonical kinetic energy terms are compatible with the swampland conjectures about the emergence of de Sitter solutions in string theory. We find that under quite general conditions the slow-roll conditions for multi-field cold inflation are at odds with the swampland conjectures for an arbitrary number of scalar fields driving inflation. However, slow-roll conditions can be reconciled with the swampland conjectures in the strong dissipative regime of warm inflation.
Warm inflation in the non minimal derivative coupling model with a general dissipation coefficient is considered. We investigate conditions for the existence of the slow roll approximation and study cosmological perturbations. The spectral index, and the power spectrum are calculated and the temperature of the universe at the end of the slow roll warm inflation is obtained.
In warm inflation scenarios, radiation always exists, so that the radiation energy density is also assumed to be finite when inflation starts. To find out the origin of the non-vanishing initial radiation energy density, we revisit thermodynamic analysis for a warm inflation model and then derive an effective Stefan-Boltzmann law which is commensurate with the temperature-dependent effective potential by taking into account the non-vanishing trace of the total energy-momentum tensors. The effective Stefan-Boltzmann law shows that the zero energy density for radiation at the Grand Unification e…
In the cold inflation scenario, the slow roll inflation and reheating via coherent rapid oscillation, are usually considered as two distinct eras. When the slow roll ends, a rapid oscillation phase begins and the inflaton decays to relativistic particles reheating the Universe. In another model dubbed warm inflation, the rapid oscillation phase is suppressed, and we are left with only a slow roll period during which the reheating occurs. Instead, in this paper, we propose a new picture for inflation in which the slow roll era is suppressed and only the rapid oscillation phase exists. Radiation…
We investigate warm inflationary scenario in which the accelerated expansion of the early Universe is driven by chameleon-like scalar fields. Due to the non-minimal coupling between the scalar field and the matter sector, the energy-momentum tensor of each fluid component is not conserved anymore, and the generalized balance equation is obtained. The new source term in the energy equation can be used to model warm inflation. On the other hand, if the coupling function varies slowly, the model reduces to the standard model used for the description of cold inflation. To test the validity of the …
We study inflation with the Dirac-Born-Infeld (DBI) noncanonical scalar field in both the cold and warm scenarios. We consider the Anti-de Sitter warp factor $f(ϕ)=f_{0}/ϕ^{4}$ for the DBI inflation and check viability of the quartic potential $V(ϕ)=λϕ^{4}/4$ in light of the Planck 2015 observational results. In the cold DBI setting, we find that the prediction of this potential in the $r-n_s$ plane is in conflict with Planck 2015 TT,TE,EE+lowP data. This motivates us to focus on the warm DBI inflation with constant sound speed. We conclude that in contrary to the case of cold scenario, the $r…
Ideas borrowed from renormalization group are applied to warm inflation to characterize the inflationary epoch in terms of flows away from the de Sitter regime. In this framework different models of inflation fall into universality classes. Furthermore, for warm inflation this approach also helps to characterise when inflation can smoothly end into the radiation dominated regime. Warm inflation has a second functional dependence compared to cold inflation due to dissipation, yet despite this feature, it is shown that the universality classes defined for cold inflation can be consistently exten…
In this work, we study warm inflationary scenario based on a deformation of $R^{2}$ gravity. We start considering $R^{p}$ and assume $p=2(1+δ)$ with $δ\ll 1$ so that we simply obtain warm $R^{2}$ inflation when setting $δ=0$. We then derive the potential in the Einstein frame and consider a dissipation parameter of the form $Γ= C_{1}T$ with $C_1$ being a coupling parameter. We focus only on the strong regime of which the interaction between inflaton and radiation fluid has been taken into account. We compute inflationary observables and constrain the parameters of our model using latest observ…
Warm inflation, its different particle physics model implementations and the implications of dissipative particle production for its cosmology are reviewed. First, we briefly present the background dynamics of warm inflation and contrast it with the cold inflation picture. An exposition of the space of parameters for different well-motivated potentials, which are ruled out, or severely constrained in the cold inflation scenario, but not necessarily in warm inflation, is provided. Next, the quantum field theory aspects in realizing explicit microscopic models for warm inflation are given. This …
A seemingly simple question, how does warm inflation exit gracefully?, has a more complex answer than in a cold paradigm. It has been highlighted here that whether warm inflation exits gracefully depends on three independent choices: The form of the potential, the choice of the warm inflation model (i.e., on the form of its dissipative coefficient) and the regime, of weak or strong dissipation, characterizing the warm inflation dynamics. Generic conditions on slow-roll parameters and several constraints on the different model parameters required for warm inflation to exit gracefully are derive…
We introduce warm quintessential inflation and study it in the weak dissipative regime. We consider the original quintessential inflation model, which approximates quartic chaotic inflation at early times and thawing quartic inverse-power-law quintessence at present. We find that the model successfully accounts for both inflation and dark energy observations, while it naturally reheats the Universe, thereby overcoming a major problem of quintessential inflation model-building.
We extend the k-inflation which is a type of kinetically driven inflationary model under the standard inflationary scenario to a possible warm inflationary scenario. The dynamical equations of this warm k-inflation model are obtained. We rewrite the slow-roll parameters which are different from the usual potential driven inflationary models and perform a linear stability analysis to give the proper slow-roll conditions in the warm k-inflation. Two cases, a power-law kinetic function and an exponential kinetic function, are studied, when the dissipative coefficient $Γ=Γ_0$ and $Γ=Γ(ϕ)$, respect…
Warm Inflation seems to be the most befitting single-field slow-roll inflation scenario in the context of the recently proposed Swampland Criteria. We investigate the constraints these Swampland Criteria impose on Warm Inflation parameters and show that Warm Inflation is in accordance with both the current cosmological observations and the proposed Swampland Criteria in both weak and strong dissipative regimes depending on the value of the parameter $c$ which limits the slope of the inflaton potential according to the criteria.
We propose a new approach to constant-roll warm inflation as a generalization of constant-roll inflation. Based on the $β$-function formalism, it is shown that constant-roll warm inflation models with a natural end fall into universality classes defined by three different types of $β$-functions, under the assumption that radiation energy density is quasi-stable. Given that warm inflation is completely specified by the $β$-function and dissipation coefficient ratio, we investigate whether or not the inflation can physically be realized for enough number of e-foldings at the background level for…
It is presumed that thermal fluctuations present during inflationary epoch can make inflaton scalar field to interact with other fields resulting in the existence of a thermal component during the inflationary period. The presence of this thermal component assists structure formation and reduces reheating dependence as in the contemporary inflationary paradigm. This is known as warm inflation. In 1990 J . D. Barrow \cite{25} considered a scenario of inflation with matter field having a phenomenological equation of state of the type $p+ρ=γρ^λ,~γ\neq 0$ and $λ$ constant. He called such inflation…
Constant-roll warm inflation is introduced in this work. A novel approach to finding an exact solution for Friedman equations coupled to scalar field equation of motion is presented for cold inflation and is extended to warm inflation with the constant dissipative parameter $Q=\fracΓ{3H}$. The evolution of the primordial inhomogeneities of a scalar field in a thermal bath is also studied. The $1σ$ consistency between the theoretical predictions of the model and observational constraints has been proven for a range of $Q$ and $β=\frac{\ddotϕ}{3Hϕ}$ (constant rate of inflaton roll). In addition,…
In this work, we investigate the Higgs-Starobinsky (HS) model in the context of warm inflation scenario. The dissipative parameter as a linear form of temperature of warm inflation is considered with strong and weak regimes. We study the HS model in the Einstein frame with the slow-roll inflation framework. We compute the inflationary observables and then compare with the Plank 2018 data. With the sizeable number of e-folds and proper choices of parameters, we discover that the predictions of warm HS model present in this work are in very good agreement with the latest Planck 2018 results. Mor…
The present work deals with a non-equilibrium thermodynamics that is associated with the scenario of warm inflation. The premise is that an adiabatic radiation production process holds exactly i.e. the radiation dilution is exactly counterbalanced by a dissipation term. Under this hypothesis, it is found that radiation particle number, temperature, radiation energy density and pressure are all conserved -- a contradiction to the very nature of the warm inflation dynamics. However, such exact adiabatic radiation production process never happens in any realistic analysis of warm inflation. In th…
A fundamental prediction of inflation is a nearly scale-invariant spectrum of gravitational wave. The features of such a signal provide extremely important information about the physics of the early universe. In this paper, we focus on several topics about warm inflation. First, we discuss the stability property about warm inflation based on nonequilibrium statistical mechanics, which gives more fundamental physical illustrations to thermal property of such model. Then, we calculate the power spectrum of gravitational waves generated during warm inflation, in which there are three components c…
We consider warm inflation with a Dirac-Born-Infeld (DBI) kinetic term in which both the nonequilibrium dissipative particle production and the sound speed parameter slow the motion of the inflaton field. We find that a low sound speed parameter removes, or at least strongly suppresses, the growing function appearing in the scalar of curvature power spectrum of warm inflation, which appears due to the temperature dependence in the dissipation coefficient. As a consequence of that, a low sound speed helps to push warm inflation into the strong dissipation regime, which is an attractive regime f…
We study and analyze the dynamic properties of both canonical and noncanonical warm inflationary models with dissipative effects. We consider different models of canonical warm inflation with different dissipative coefficients and prove that the behavior at infinity of quadratic dissipative model distinctly differs from that of the constant dissipative model, which means that quadratic dissipative coefficient increases the possibility of the occurrence of inflation. We also show that the different choice of combination of the parameters in noncanonical warm inflation exhibits dramatically diff…
We study quasi-single field inflation with a warm inflation background. The thermal effects at small scales can sufficiently enhance the magnitude of the primordial standard clock signal. This scenario offers us the possibility of probing the UV physics of the very early universe without the exponentially small Boltzmann factor when the mass of the isocurvaton is much heavier than Hubble. The thermal effects at small scales can be studied using the flat space thermal field theory, connected to an effective description using non-Bunch-Davies vacuum at large scales, with large clock signal.
In this paper, $k$-inflation is analyzed in warm braneworld scenario. A general class of $k$-essence models with power-law kinetic term is investigated and weak and strong dissipation regimes are studied. Scalar perturbations and spectral index are derived. The results are discussed and applied to specific examples.
In this paper, we discuss the warm inflation model with both a Langevin equation and a generalized Langevin equation scenario. As a brief picture to illustrate the basic properties of stochastic differential equation in warm inflation, this paper is started from a simple condition with constant dissipative coefficient. In this model, we prove the perturbed inflaton field exhibits a stationary process on large scale, so the perturbed field has a scale-invariant power spectrum. Then we study the warm inflation with a generalized Langevin equation scenario. The perturbed field in such model also …
Warm inflation has been noted previously as a possible way to implement inflationary models compatible with the dS swampland bounds. But often in these discussions the heat bath dynamics is kept largely unspecified. We point out that the recently introduced Minimal Warm Inflation of arXiv:1910.07525, where an axionic coupling of the inflaton leads to an explicit model for the thermal bath, yields models of inflation that can easily fit cosmological observations while satisfying de Sitter swampland bounds, as well as the swampland distance bound and trans-Planckian censorship.
The framework of a kind of noncanonical warm inflation is introduced, and the dynamical equations of this scenario are presented. We propose the slow roll approximations and give some redefining slow roll parameters in this scenario which remain dimensionless. Performing systemic stability analysis, we calculate the slow roll conditions to guarantee that slow roll approximations hold. The slow roll conditions suggest slow roll inflation in general noncanonical warm inflationary scenario can still exist, and in addition, the slow roll approximations are more easily to be satisfied. Then, a conc…
In this paper, we investigate a class of Horndeski scalar-tensor theory of gravity for warm inflation. We present some models where the early-time acceleration is realized in the weak and in the strong dissipation regime. Cosmological perturbations are analyzed.
Inhomogeneous fluid models for warm inflation are investigated. The early-time acceleration is supported by inhomogeneous fluid whose coupling with radiation leads to the radiation dominated era after inflation. Several examples are analyzed, strong dissipation regime is discussed, and the viability of the models respect to the last Planck data is verified.
Warm inflation is analyzed in the context of Loop Quantum Cosmology (LQC). The bounce in LQC provides a mean through which a Liouville measure can be defined, which has been used previously to characterize the a priori probability for inflation in LQC. Here we take advantage of the tools provided by LQC to study instead the a priori probability for warm inflation dynamics in the context of a monomial quartic inflaton potential. We study not only the question of how a general warm inflation dynamics can be realized in LQC with an appropriate number of e-folds, but also how such dynamics is cons…
We study the main properties of the warm inflationary model based on Barrow's solution for the scale factor of the universe. Within this framework we calculate analytically the basic slow roll parameters for different versions of warm inflation. We test the performance of this inflationary scenario against the latest observational data and we verify that the predicted spectral index and the tensor-to-scalar fluctuation ratio are in excellent agreement with those of {\it Planck 2015}. Finally, we find that the current predictions are consistent with those of viable inflationary models.
We investigate the non-minimally Higgs inflaton (HI) model in the context of warm inflation scenario. Warm little inflaton (WLI) model considers the little Higgs boson as inflaton. The concerns of warm inflation model can be eliminated in WLI model. There is a special case of dissipation parameter in WLI model $Γ=Γ_0 T$. Using this parameter, we study the potential of HI in Einstein frame . Finally we will constrain the parameters of our model using current Planck observational data.
High dissipative regime of warm pseudoscalar inflation model \cite{Kamali:2019ppi} with an approximately constant value of dissipation parameter $Q$ is studied. { Intermediate solution of the scale-factor related to the accelerated expansion of the Universe which is rolled out by observational data in the context of standard (cold) model of inflation is used.} There is a region of free parameters phase-space of the model which is interestingly compatible with recent observational data. It is discussed that the model is also compatible with the swampland criteria in a broad range of parameters …
The "de Sitter constraint" on the space of effective scalar field theories consistent with superstring theory provides a lower bound on the slope of the potential of a scalar field which dominates the evolution of the Universe, e.g., a hypothetical inflaton field. Whereas models of single scalar field inflation with a canonically normalized field do not obey this constraint, it has been claimed recently in the literature that models of warm inflation can be made compatible with it in the case of large dissipation. The de Sitter constraint is known to be derived from entropy considerations. Sin…
The reconstruction of a warm inflationary universe model from the scalar spectral index $n_S(N)$ and the tensor to scalar ratio $r(N)$ as a function of the number of e-folds $N$ is studied. Under a general formalism we find the effective potential and the dissipative coefficient in terms of the cosmological parameters $n_S$ and $r$ considering the weak and strong dissipative stages under the slow roll approximation. As a specific example, we study the attractors for the index $n_S$ given by $n_{S}-1\propto N^{-1}$ and for the ratio $r\propto N^{-2}$, in order to reconstruct the model of warm i…
A warm inflationary universe in the context of Galileon model or G-model is studied. Under a general formalism we study the inflationary dynamics and the cosmological perturbations considering a coupling of the form $G(ϕ,X)=g(ϕ)\,X$. As a concrete example, we consider an exponential potential together with the cases in which the dissipation and Galilean coefficients are constants. Also, we study the weak regime given by the condition $R<1+3gH\dotϕ$, and the strong regime in which $1<R+3gH\dotϕ$.Additionally, we obtain constraints on the parameters during the evolution of G-warm inflation, assu…
We extend the warm inflationary scenario to the case of the noncanonical scalar fields. The equation of motion and the other basic equations of this new scenario are obtained. The Hubble damped term is enhanced in noncanonical inflation. A linear stability analysis is performed to give the proper slow-roll conditions in warm noncanonical inflation. We study the density fluctuations in the new picture and obtain an approximate analytic expression of the power spectrum. The energy scale at the horizon crossing is depressed by both noncanonical effect and thermal effect, and so is the tensor-to-s…
We examine some inflationary models based on modifications of gravity in the light of Planck 2015 data, such as the generalised Chaplygin inspired inflation, models based in $N=1$ supergravity and braneworld scenarios. We also show that, conversely, potentials with a very flat plateau yield a primordial spectrum similar to that of the Starobinsky model with no need to modify general relativity.
