Ant routing algorithm for the Lightning Network

Ant Routing scalability for the Lightning Network

The ambition of the Lightning Network is to provide a second layer to the Bitcoin network to enable transactions confirmed instantly, securely and anonymously with a world scale capacity using a decentralized protocol. Some of the current propositions and implementations present some difficulties in anonymity, scaling and decentalization. The Ant Routing algorithm for the Lightning Network was proposed in \cite{GrunspanPerez} for maximal decentralization, anonymity and potential scaling. It solves several problems of current implementation, such as channel information update and centralization…

The Autonomy of the Lightning Network: A Mathematical and Economic Proof of Structural Decoupling from BTC

How to profit from payments channels

Payment channel networks like Bitcoin's Lightning network are an auspicious approach for realizing high transaction throughput and almost-instant confirmations in blockchain networks. However, the ability to successfully make payments in such networks relies on the willingness of participants to lock collateral in the network. In Lightning, the key financial incentive is to lock collateral are small fees for routing payments for other participants. While users can choose these fees, currently, they mainly stick to the default fees. By providing insights on beneficial choices for fees, we aim t…

Performance Evaluation of Ant-Based Routing Protocols for Wireless Sensor Networks

Throughput Optimal Routing in Blockchain Based Payment Systems

Cryptocurrency networks such as Bitcoin have emerged as a distributed alternative to traditional centralized financial transaction networks. However, there are major challenges in scaling up the throughput of such networks. Lightning network and Spider network are alternates that build bidirectional payment channels on top of cryptocurrency networks using smart contracts, to enable fast transactions that bypass the Blockchain. In this paper, we study the problem of routing transactions in such a payment processing network. We first propose a Stochastic model to study such a system, as opposed …

Behavior of Wireless Body-to-Body Networks Routing Strategies for Public Protection and Disaster Relief

Critical and public safety operations require real-time data transfer from the incident area(s) to the distant operations command center going through the evacuation and medical support areas. Any delay in communication may cause significant loss. In some cases, it is anticipated that the existing communication infrastructures can be damaged or out-of-service. It is thus required to deploy tactical ad-hoc networks to cover the operation zones. Routing data over the deployed network is a significant challenge with consideration to the operations conditions. In this paper we evaluate the perform…
