Lin and Xi introduced Auslander--Dlab--Ringel (ADR) algebras of seimlocal modules as a generalization of original ADR algebras and showed that they are quasi-hereditary. In this paper, we prove that such algebras are always left-strongly quasi-hereditary. As an application, we give a better upper bound for global dimension of ADR algebras of semilocal modules. Moreover we describe characterizations of original ADR algebras to be strongly quasi-hereditary.
The ADR algebra $R_A$ of a finite-dimensional algebra $A$ is a quasihereditary algebra. In this paper we study the Ringel dual $\mathcal{R}(R_A)$ of $R_A$. We prove that $\mathcal{R}(R_A)$ can be identified with $(R_{A^{op}})^{op}$, under certain 'minimal' regularity conditions for $A$. We also give necessary and sufficient conditions for the ADR algebra to be Ringel selfdual.
Given an arbitrary algebra $A$ we may associate to it a special endomorphism algebra, $R_A$, introduced by Auslander. Dlab and Ringel constructed a heredity chain for $R_A$, proving that every algebra $A$ has an associated highest weight theory. In this paper we investigate the quasihereditary structure of $R_A$ using an axiomatic approach.
The ADR algebra $R_A$ of an Artin algebra $A$ is a right ultra strongly quasihereditary algebra (RUSQ algebra). In this paper we study the $Δ$-filtrations of modules over RUSQ algebras and determine the projective covers of a certain class of $R_A$-modules. As an application, we give a counterexample to a claim by Auslander-Platzeck-Todorov, concerning projective resolutions over the ADR algebra.
We introduce a new class of quasi-hereditary algebras, containing in particular the Auslander-Dlab-Ringel (ADR) algebras. We show that this new class of algebras is preserved under Ringel duality, which determines in particular explicitly the Ringel dual of any ADR algebra. As a special case of our theory, it follows that, under very restrictive conditions, an ADR algebra is Ringel dual to another one. The latter provides an alternative proof for a recent result of Conde and Erdmann, and places it in a more general setting.
Dlab--Ringel's standardization method gives a realization of a standardly stratified algebra. In this paper, we construct mixed stratified algebras, which are a generalization of standardly stratified algebras, following Dlab--Ringel's standardization method. Moreover, we study a Ringel duality of mixed stratified algebras from the viewpoint of stratifying systems.
Auslander and Ringel-Tachikawa have shown that for an artinian ring R of finite representation type, every R-module is the direct sum of finitely generated indecomposable R-modules. In this paper, we will adapt this result to finite representation type full subcategories of the module category of an artinian ring which are closed under subobjects and direct sums and contain all projective modules. In particular, the results in this paper hold for subspace representations of a poset, in case this subcategory is of finite representation type.
We introduce quasi-hereditary endomorphism algebras defined over a new class of finite dimensional monomial algebras with a special ideal structure. The main result is a uniform formula describing the Ringel duals of these quasi-hereditary algebras. As special cases, we obtain a Ringel-duality formula for a family of strongly quasi-hereditary algebras arising from a type A configuration of projective lines in a rational, projective surface as recently introduced by Hille and Ploog, for certain Auslander-Dlab-Ringel algebras, and for Eiriksson and Sauter's nilpotent quiver algebras when the qui…
Recollements of abelian categories are used as a basis of a homological and recursive approach to quasi-hereditary algebras. This yields a homological proof of Dlab and Ringel's characterisation of idempotent ideals occuring in heredity chains, which in turn characterises quasi-hereditary algebras recursively. Further applications are given to hereditary algebras and to Morita context rings.
We study Auslander-Reiten components of an artin algebra with bounded short cycles, namely, there exists a bound for the depths of maps appearing on short cycles of non-zero non-invertible maps between modules in the given component. First, we give a number of combinatorial characteri\-zations of almost acyclic Auslander-Reiten components. Then, we show that an Auslander-Reiten component with bounded short cycles is closely related to the connec\-ting component of a tilted quotient algebra. In particular, the number of such components is finite and each of them is almost acyclic with only fini…
We generalize Ringel and Schmidmeier's theory on the Auslander-Reiten translation of the submodule category $\mathcal S_2(A)$ to the monomorphism category $\mathcal S_n(A)$. As in the case of $n=2$, $\mathcal S_n(A)$ has Auslander-Reiten sequences, and the Auslander-Reiten translation $τ_{\mathcal{S}}$ of $\mathcal S_n(A)$ can be explicitly formulated via $τ$ of $A$-mod. Furthermore, if $A$ is a selfinjective algebra, we study the periodicity of $τ_{\mathcal{S}}$ on the objects of $\mathcal S_n(A)$, and of the Serre functor $F_{\mathcal S}$ on the objects of the stable monomorphism category $\…
Dlab and Ringel showed that algebras being quasi-hereditary in all total orders for indices of primitive idempotents becomes hereditary. So, we are interested in for which orders a given quasi-hereditary algebra is again quasi-hereditary. As a matter of fact, we consider permutations of indices instead of total orders. If the standard modules defined by two permutations coincide, we say that the permutations are equivalent. Moreover if the algebra with permuted indices is quasi-hereditary, then this equivalence class of the permutation is called a quasi-hereditary structure. In this article, w…
One of the first remarkable results in the representation theory of artin algebras, due to Auslander and Ringel-Tachikawa, is the characterization of when an artin algebra is representation-finite. In this paper, we investigate aspects of representation-finiteness in the general context of exact categories in the sense of Quillen. In this framework, we introduce "big objects" and prove an Auslander-type "splitting-big-objects" theorem. Our approach generalises and unifies the known results from the literature. As a further application of our methods, we extend the theorems of Auslander and Rin…
Dlab and Ringel showed that algebras being quasi-hereditary in all orders for indices of primitive idempotents becomes hereditary. So, we are interested in for which orders a given quasi-hereditary algebra is again quasi-hereditary. As a matter of fact, we consider permutations of indices, and if the algebra with permuted indices is quasi-hereditary, then we say that this permutation gives a quasi-hereditary structure. In this article, we first give a criterion for adjacent transpositions giving quasi-hereditary structures, in terms of homological conditions of standard or costandard modules o…
We build a bijection between the set $\sttiltΛ$ of isomorphism classes of basic support $τ$-tilting modules over the Auslander algebra $Λ$ of $K[x]/(x^n)$ and the symmetric group $\mathfrak{S}_{n+1}$, which is an anti-isomorphism of partially ordered sets with respect to the generation order on $\sttiltΛ$ and the left order on $\mathfrak{S}_{n+1}$. This restricts to the bijection between the set $\tiltΛ$ of isomorphism classes of basic tilting $Λ$-modules and the symmetric group $\mathfrak{S}_n$ due to Brüstle, Hille, Ringel and Röhrle. Regarding the preprojective algebra $Γ$ of Dynkin type $A…
In this paper we show that how the representation theory of subcategories (of the category of modules over an Artin algebra) can be connected to the representation theory of all modules over some algebra. The subcategories dealing with are some certain subcategories of the morphism categories (including submodule categories studied recently by Ringel and Schmidmeier) and of the Gorenstein projective modules over (relative) stable Auslander algebras. These two kinds of subcategories, as will be seen, are closely related to each other. To make such a connection, we will define a functor from eac…
We show that a properly stratified algebra is Gorenstein if and only if the characteristic tilting module coincides with the characteristic cotilting module. We further show that properly stratified Gorenstein algebras $A$ enjoy strong homological properties such as all Gorenstein projective modules being properly stratified and all endomorphism rings $\operatorname{End}_A(Δ(i))$ being Frobenius algebras. We apply our results to the study of properly stratified algebras that are minimal Auslander-Gorenstein algebras in the sense of Iyama-Solberg and calculate under suitable conditions their Ri…
We determine all values of the parameters for which the cell modules form a standard system, for a class of cellular diagram algebras including partition, Brauer, walled Brauer, Temperley-Lieb and Jones algebras. For this, we develop and apply a general theory of algebras with Borelic pairs. The theory is also applied to give new uniform proofs of the cellular and quasi-hereditary properties of the diagram algebras and to construct quasi-hereditary 1-covers, in the sense of Rouquier, with exact Borel subalgebras, in the sense of König. Another application of the theory leads to a proof that Au…
In this paper we investigate the endomorphism algebras of standard cluster tilting objects in the stably 2-Calabi-Yau categories $\Sub{Λ_w}$ with elements $w$ in Coxeter groups in \cite{BIRSc}. They are examples of the 2-Auslander algebras introduced in \cite{I1}. Generalizing work in \cite{GLS1} we show that they are quasihereditary, even strongly quasihereditary in the sense of \cite{R}. We also describe the cluster tilting object giving rise to the Ringel dual, and prove that there is a duality between $\Sub{Λ_w}$ and the category $\mathcal{F}(Δ)$ of good modules over the quasihereditary al…
Let $Λ$ be a finite-dimensional basic algebra over an algebraically closed field $k$. The well-known Drozd's theorem asserts, that $Λ$ is either tame or wild. The Crawley-Boevey's Theorem states that for a given tame algebra $Λ$, and for each dimension $d$ almost all isomorphism classes of indecomposable $Λ$-modules of dimension $d$ are isomorphic to their Auslander-Reiten translations and hence belong to homogeneous tubes. In this paper we prove the converse of Crawley-Boevey's Theorem and thus give an internal description of tameness in terms of AR-quivers. This gives a complete answer to a …
We give a result of Auslander-Ringel-Tachikawa type for Gorenstein-projective modules over a complete Gorenstein order. In particular, we prove that a complete Gorenstein order is of finite Cohen-Macaulay representation type if and only if every indecomposable pure-injective object in the stable category of Gorenstein-projective modules is compact.
Ringel's right-strongly quasi-hereditary algebras are a distinguished class of quasi-hereditary algebras of Cline-Parshall-Scott. We give characterizations of these algebras in terms of heredity chains and right rejective subcategories. We prove that any artin algebra of global dimension at most two is right-strongly quasi-hereditary. Moreover we show that the Auslander algebra of a representation-finite algebra $A$ is strongly quasi-hereditary if and only if $A$ is a Nakayama algebra.
We study Artin algebras $A$ and commutative Noetherian complete local rings $R$ in connection with the following decomposition property of Gorenstein-projective modules: $(*)$ any Gorenstein-projective module is a direct sum of finitely generated modules. We show that this direct decomposition property is related to the property of the algebra $A$, or the ring $R$, being (virtually) Gorenstein of finite Cohen-Macaquly type. Along the way we generalize classical results of Auslander and Ringel-Tachikawa from the early seventies, and results of Chen and Yoshino on the structure of Gorenstein-pro…
