In this paper, a general FRW cosmological model has been constructed in $f(R,T)$ gravity reconstruction with variable cosmological constant. A number of solutions to the field equations has been generated by utilizing a form for the Hubble parameter that leads to Berman's law of constant deceleration parameter $q=m-1$. The possible decelerating and accelerating solutions have been investigated. For ($q>0$) we get a stable flat decelerating radiation-dominated universe at $q=1$. For ($q<0$) we get a stable accelerating solution describing a flat universe with positive energy density and negative cosmological constant. Nonconventional mechanisms that are expected to address the late-time acceleration with negative cosmological constant have been discussed.
The Friedman Universe with the remnant stochastic scalar field in the hybrid inflation model is examined. It is shown that the small effective cosmological constant appears which increases the cosmological expansion.
We study here what it means for the Universe to be nearly flat, as opposed to exactly flat. We give three definitions of nearly flat, based on density, geometry and dynamics; all three definitions are equivalent and depend on a single constant flatness parameter epsilon that quantifies the notion of nearly flat. Observations can only place an upper limit on epsilon, and always allow the possibility that the Universe is infinite with k=-1 or finite with k=1. We use current observational data to obtain a numerical upper limit on the flatness parameter and discuss its implications, in particular …
We deduce general expressions for the line element of universe models with negative and vanishing spatial curvature described by conformally flat spacetime coordinates. The empty Milne universe model and models with dust, radiation and vacuum energy are exhibited. Discussing the existence of particle horizons we show that there is continual creation of space, matter and energy when conformal time is used in Friedmann-Robertson-Walker models with negative spatial curvature.
The quest to understand better the nature of the initial cosmological singularity is with us since the discovery of the expanding universe. Here, we propose several non-flat models, among them the standard cosmological scenario with a critical cosmological constant, the Einstein-Cartan cosmology, the Milne-McCrea universe with quantum corrections and a non-flat universe with bulk viscosity. Within these models, we probe into the initial singularity by using different techniques. Several nonsingular universes emerge, one of the possibilities being a static non-expanding and stable Einstein univ…
Density perturbations in the flat (K=0) Robertson-Walker universe with radiation ($p=ε/3$) and positive cosmological constant ($Λ>0$) are investigated. The phenomenon of anomalous dispersion of acoustic waves on $Λ$ is discussed.
We employ the generalized Chaplygin gas of interacting dark energy to obtain the equation of state for the generalized Chaplygin gas energy density in non-flat universe. By choosing a negative value for $B$ we see that $w_{\rm Λ}^{eff}< -1$, that corresponds to a universe dominated by phantom dark energy.
Recent observations of the Universe have led to a conclusion suppressing an up-to-now supposed deceleration of the Universe caused by attractive gravitational forces. Contrary, there is a renaissance of the cosmological member lambda and introduction of enigmatic repulsive dark energy in attempts to rationalize a would-be acceleration of the Universe expansion. It is documented that the model of Expansive Nondecelerative Universe is capable to offer acceptable answers to the questions on the Universe expansion, state equations of the Universe, the parameter omega, the cosmological member lambd…
The evolution of a class of inhomogeneous spherically symmetric universe models possessing a varying cosmological term and a material fluid, with an adiabatic index either constant or not, is studied.
In this paper we study the tachyon cosmology in non-interacting and interacting cases in non-flat FRW universe. Then we reconstruct the potential and the dynamics of the tachyon field which describe tachyon cosmology.
We construct explicit solutions for scalar, vector and tensor perturbations in a less known setting, a flat universe filled by an isotropic elastic solid with pressure and shear modulus proportional to energy density. The solutions generalize the well known formulas for cosmological perturbations in a universe filled by ideal fluid.
For evolution of flat universe, we classify late time and future attractors with scaling behavior of scalar field quintessence in the case of potential, which, at definite values of its parameters and initial data, corresponds to exact scaling in the presence of cosmological constant.
A family of cosmological models is considered which in a certain synchronized system of reference possess flat slices t = const. They are generated from the Einstein-de Sitter universe by a suitable transformation. Under physically reasonable presumptions these transformed models fulfil certain energy conditions.
We report a symmetry property of the Einstein-Friedmann equations for spatially flat Friedmann-Lemaître-Robertson-Walker universes filled with a perfect fluid with any constant equation of state. The symmetry transformations form a one-parameter Abelian group.
The 3-space of a universe model is defined at a certain simultaneity. Hence space depends on which time is used. We find a general formula generating all known and also some new transformations to conformally flat spacetime coordinates. A general formula for the recession velocity is deduced.
In this paper we consider the new agegraphic model of interacting dark energy in non-flat universe. We show that the interacting agegraphic dark energy can be described by a phantom scalar field. Then we show this phantomic description of the agegraphic dark energy and reconstruct the potential of the phantom scalar field.
By introducing the polytropic gas model of interacting dark energy, we obtain the equation of state for the polytropic gas energy density in a non-flat universe. We show that for even polytropic index by choosing $K>Ba^{\frac{3}{n}}$, one can obtain $ω^{\rm eff}_Λ<-1$, which corresponds to a universe dominated by phantom dark energy.
We deduce general expressions for the line element of universe models with positive spatial curvature described by conformally flat spacetime coordinates. Models with dust, radiation and vacuum energy are exhibited. Discussing the existence of particle horizons we show that there is continual annihilation of space, matter and energy in a dust and radiation dominated universe, and continual creation in a LIVE domined universe when conformal time is used in Friedmann-Robertson-Walker models with positive spatial curvature. A general procedure is given for finding coordinates to be used in Penros…
Motivated by the work of Granda and Oliveros [L.N. Granda, A. Oliveros, Phys. Lett. B {\bf 671}, 199 (2009)], we generalize their work to the non-flat case. We study the correspondence between the quintessence, tachyon, K-essence and dilaton scalar field models with the new holographic dark energy model in the non-flat FRW universe. We reconstruct the potentials and the dynamics for these scalar field models, which describe accelerated expansion of the universe. In the limiting case of a flat universe, i.e. $k = 0$, all results given in [L.N. Granda, A. Oliveros, Phys. Lett. B {\bf 671}, 199 (…
Only one model from an infinite number of the Friedmannian models of flat expansive isotropic and homogeneous universe satisfies the assumptions resulting from the Planck quantum hypothesis.
Conformally flat spherically symmetric cosmological models representing a charged perfect fluid as well as a bulk viscous fluid distribution have been obtained. The cosmological constant Λis found positive and is a decreasing function of time which is consistent with the recent supernovae observations. The physical and geometrical properties of the models are discussed.
We generalize the well-known Bonnor-Melvin solution of the Einstein-Maxwell equations to the case of a non-vanishing cosmological constant. The spacetime is again cylindrically symmetric and static but, unlike the original solution, it truly represents a homogeneous magnetic field.
We present the extension of the Einstein-Maxwell system called electrovac universes by introducing a cosmological constant $Λ$. In the absence of the $Λ$ term, the crucial equation in solving the Einstein-Maxwell system is the Laplace equation. The cosmological constant modifies this equation to become in a non-linear partial differential equation which takes the form $ΔU=2ΛU^3$. We offer special solutions of this equation.
We consider a holographic dark energy model, with a varying parameter, n, which evolves slowly with time. We obtain the differential equation describing evolution of the dark energy density parameter, $Ω_d$, for the flat and non-flat FRW universes. The equation of state parameter in this generalized version of holographic dark energy depends on n.
In this paper we show that the mass-energy density of the Universe can be fully determined in terms of the cosmological redshifts, their time drifts and angular-diameter distance (observer area distance). Besides providing an indirect measurement of the mass-energy density of the Universe, we show how one can use the time-drift of the cosmological redshifts as a replacement for the mass-energy density element in the minimally required data set to construct an spherically symmetric Lema\^ıtre-Tolman-Bondi (LTB) model for the Universe in observational coordinates.
Recently many authors have calculated the energy of the Friedman universes by using double index energy-momentum complexes in Cartesian comoving coordinates $(t,x,y,z)$ and concluded that the flat and closed Friedman universes are energy-free. We show in this paper by using Einstein canonical energy-momentum complex and by doing calculations in conformally flat coordinates that such conclusion is incorrect. The results obtained in this paper are compatible with the results of the our previous paper \cite{Gar07} where we have used coordinate-independent averaged relative energy-momentum tensors…
In the present article we solve, via separation of variables, the massless Dirac equation in a nonstationary rotating, causal Gödel-type cosmological universe, having a constant rotational speed in all the points of the space. We compute the frequency spectrum. We show that the spectrum of massless Dirac particles is discrete and unbounded.
We investigate the large scale cosmological perturbation in the Universe with multiple perfect fluids. Using the long-wavelength approximation with Hamilton-Jacobi method, we derive the formula for the gauge invariant comoving curvature perturbation. As an application of our approach, we examine the large scale perturbation in a brane cosmology.
We study the interacting agegraphic dark energy (ADE) model in non-flat universe by means of statefinder diagnostic and $w-w^{\prime}$ analysis. First, the evolution of EoS parameter ($w_d$) and deceleration parameter ($q$) in terms of scale factor for interacting ADE model in non-flat universe are calculated. Dependence of $w_d$ on the ADE model parameters $n$ and $α$ in different spatial curvatures is investigated. We show that the evolution of $q$ is dependent on the type of spatial curvature, beside of dependence on parameters $n$ and $α$. The accelerated expansion takes place sooner in op…
Cosmological consequences of the Poincare-Weyl gauge theory of gravity are considered. A generalized cosmological constant depending from the Dirac scalar field is introduced. The stage of a super-early (Harrison-Zel'dovich) scale invariant Universe is considered. It is shown that while the scale factor sharply increases and demonstrates inflationary behavior, the generalized cosmological constant decreases sharply from a huge value at the beginning of the Big Bang to an extremely small value in the modern era, which solves the well-known "cosmological constant problem".
We investigate the validity of the generalized second law in irreversible thermodynamics in a non-flat FRW universe containing the interacting dark energy with cold dark matter. The boundary of the universe is assumed to be enclosed by the dynamical apparent horizon. We show that for the present time, the generalized second law in nonequilibrium thermodynamics is satisfied for the special range of the energy transfer constants.
To investigate the energy of Bianchi type-II cosmological model, I used the energy-momentum complexes of Einstein and Møller and obtained the zero total energy in these two prescriptions. This result reinforces the viewpoint of Albrow and Tryon that the universe must have a zero net value for all conserved quantities and be equivalent to the previous works of Nester et al. and Aydogdu et al.
In the Friedmann equations, an infinite initial density is avoided only when the universe is spatially flat. With such equations being then valid when the scale factor $a=0$, the universe must also be in the state of vacuum when $a$ is infinitesimal. Matter creation thus largely comes from nonlinearity of the Friedmann equations at a finite $a$. For the correspondence between such an initial vacuum and the Friedmann universe, therefore, a vacuum density is suggested to be gravitationally significant only when it could also have a matter phase. The effective cosmological term is then due to suc…
We give a brief review of interacting NADE model in non-flat universe. we study the effect of spatial curvature $Ω_{k}$, interaction coefficient $α$ and the main parameter of NADE, $n$, On EoS parameter $w_{d}$ and deceleration parameter $q$. We obtain a minimum value for $n$ in both early and present time, in order to that our DE model crosses the phantom divide. Also in a closed universe, changing the sign of $q$ is strongly dependent on $α$. It has been shown that the quantities $w_{d}$ and $q$ have a different treatment for various spatial curvature. At last, we calculate the statefinder d…
We study the scalar curvature of spacelike hypersurfaces in the family of cosmological models known as generalized Robertson-Walker spacetimes, and give several rigidity results under appropriate mathematical and physical assumptions. On the other hand, we show that this family of spacetimes provides suitable models obeying the null convergence condition to explain accelerated expanding universes.
We propose a cosmological model which could explain, in a very natural way, the apparently periodic structures of the universe, as revealed in a series of recent observations. Our point of view is to reduce the cosmological Friedman--Einstein dynamical system to a sort of Schrödinger equation whose bound eigensolutions are oscillating functions. Taking into account the cosmological expansion, the large scale periodic structure could be easily recovered considering the amplitudes and the correlation lengths of the galaxy clusters.
The recently suggested notion of total mass density for closed universes is extended to closed universes with a positive cosmological constant. Assuming that the matter fields satisfy the dominant energy condition, it is shown that the cosmological constant provides a sharp lower bound for the total mass density, and that the total mass density takes this as its minimum value if and only if the spacetime is locally isometric with the de Sitter spacetime. This notion of total mass density is extensible to non-compact three-spaces of homogeneity of Bianchi class A cosmological spacetimes.
We employ a theorem due to Campbell to build some simple 4-dimensional cosmological models which originate from solutions describing waves propagating along the extra-dimension of a 5-dimensional Ricci-flat space. The dimensional reduction is performed in the Jordan frame according to the induced-matter theory of Wesson.
The scenario of an emergent universe provides a promising resolution to the big bang singularity in universes with positive or negative spatial curvature. It however remains unclear whether the scenario can be successfully implemented in a spatially flat universe which seems to be favored by present cosmological observations. In this paper, we study the stability of Einstein static state solutions in a spatially flat Shtanov-Sahni braneworld scenario. With a negative dark radiation term included and assuming a scalar field as the only matter energy component, we find that the universe can stay…
The retarded gravitation produced by the matter and energy content of the observable universe is formulated and shown how this cosmological gravity gives rise to inertial forces in accelerated frames of reference. The model is developed for spatially flat Friedman-Robertson-Walker (FRW) universes. The retarded potential of cosmological gravity is determined first in fundamental frames of reference, in Einstein-de Sitter (ES)and in LambdaCDM models. Despite the expansion, the observable universe gives rise to a static, retarded gravitational potential equal to c2 in ES universe, while gravity i…
We investigate the back reaction of cosmological perturbations on the evolution of the Universe using the renormalization group method. Starting from the second order perturbed Einstein's equation, we renormalize a scale factor of the Universe and derive the evolution equation for the effective scale factor which includes back reaction due to inhomogeneities of the Universe. The resulting equation has the same form as the standard Friedman-Robertson-Walker equation with the effective energy density and pressure which represent the back reaction effect.
We study the entropic considerations on the Universe system and the Universe-Black hole system, filled by cosmological constant or exotic quintessence-like and phantom-like fields having negative pressure, using their relevant entropic bounds. It turns out that for both systems these considerations single out the cosmological constant, among the negative pressure candidate fields, as the viable cosmological field.
FRW models of the universe have been studied in the cosmological theory based on Lyra's manifold. A new class of exact solutions has been obtained by considering a time dependent displacement field for variable deceleration parameter from which three models of the universe are derived (i) exponential (ii) polynomial and (iii) sinusoidal form respectively. The behaviour of these models of the universe are also discussed. Finally some possibilities of further problems and their investigations have been pointed out.
For non-flat universe of $k\not=0$, we investigate a model of the interacting holographic dark energy with cold dark matter (CDM). There exists a mixture of two components arisen from decaying of the holographic dark energy into CDM. In this case we use the effective equations of state ($ω^{\rm eff}_{\rm Λ}, ω^{\rm eff}_{\rm m}$) instead of the native equations of state ($ω_{\rm Λ},ω_{\rm m})$. Consequently, we show that interacting holographic energy models in non-flat universe cannot accommodate a transition from the dark energy to the phantom regime.
Cylindrically symmetric inhomogeneous magnetized string cosmological model is investigated with cosmological term $Λ$ varying with time. To get the deterministic solution, it has been assumed that the expansion ($θ$) in the model is proportional to the eigenvalue $σ^{1}_{1}$ of the shear tensor $σ^{i}_{j}$. The value of cosmological constant for the model is found to be small and positive which is supported by the results from recent supernovae Ia observations. The physical and geometric properties of the model are also discussed in presence and absence of magnetic field.
In this paper, we calculate the one-loop quantum cosmological corrections to the kink energy in the closed Friedmann-Robertson-Walker universe in which the fluctuation potential $V^{\prime\prime}$ has a shape invariance property. We use the generalized zeta function regularization method to implement our setup for describing quantum kink-like states. It is conjectured that the corrections lead to the renormalized gravitational constant.
Carmeli's 5D brane cosmology has been applied to the expanding accelerating universe and it has been found that the distance redshift relation will fit the data of the high-z supernova teams without the need for dark matter. Also the vacuum energy contribution to gravity indicates that the universe is asymptotically expanding towards a spatially flat state, where the total mass/energy density tends to unity.
The 3-space of a universe model is defined at a certain simultaneity. Hence space depends on which time is used. We find a general formula generating all known transformations to conformally flat spacetime coordinates, and work out the physical interpretation of conformal coordinate systems in different universe models. We show that continual creation appears when conformal time is used in Friedmann-Robertson-Walker models with negative spatial curvature, and in universe models where the inflationary era started as a quantum fluctuation at t > 0, for example at the Planck time. A general proce…
The $f(R)$ gravity models formulated in Einstein conformal frame are equivalent to Einstein gravity together with a minimally coupled scalar field. The scalar field couples with the matter sector and the coupling term is given by the conformal factor. We apply the holographic principle to such an interacting model in spatially flat and curved universes. We show that the model leads to a constant ratio of energy densities of dark matter to dark energy in a spatially flat universe. In a spatially curved universe, the ratio is not a constant and the evolution seems to be model-dependent. However,…
The emergence of cosmic space as cosmic time progresses is an exciting idea advanced by Padmanabhan to explain the accelerated expansion of the universe. The generalization of Padmanabhan's conjecture to the non-flat universe has resulted in scepticism about the choice of volume such that the law of emergence can not be appropriately formulated if one uses proper invariant volume. The deep connection between the first law of thermodynamics and the law of emergence \cite{mahith}, motivate us to explore the status of the first law in a non-flat universe when one uses proper invariant volume. We …
Cosmic Microwave Background anomalies suggest that the Universe is slightly anisotropic, so a Cosmological Model that does not satisfy the Cosmological Principle is necessary. Anisotropic Bianchi models have been studied given that they would be necessary to understand the early stages of the Universe. In this paper, we analyze qualitatively the behavior of the cosmological redshift in a Bianchi type I model after a coordinate transformation in three cases: vacuum with no vanishing cosmological constant $Λ\not= 0$, universe dominated by dust and universe dominated by radiation.
We show that the simple extension of the method of obtaining the general exact solution for the cosmological model with the exponential scalar-field potential to the case when the dust is present fails and we discuss the reasons of this puzzling phenomenon.
We consider the dynamics of a causal bulk viscous cosmological fluid filled constantly decelerating Bianchi type I space-time. The matter component of the Universe is assumed to satisfy a linear barotropic equation of state and the state equation of the small temperature Boltzmann gas. The resulting cosmological models satisfy the condition of smallness of the viscous stress. The time evolution of the relaxation time, temperature, bulk viscosity coefficient and comoving entropy of the dissipative fluid is also obtained.
The idea of extra-dimensions has recently gone through a renewal with the hypothesis, suggested by recent developments in string theory, that ordinary matter is confined to a sub-space, called brane, embedded in a higher dimensional spacetime. I summarize here some consequences in cosmology of this type of models. The most remarkable aspect is that the Friedmann laws, which govern the expansion of the Universe, are modified. An important direction of research is the study of cosmological perturbations and the possible signature of extra-dimensions in cosmological observations.
The purpose of this paper is to discuss the evolution of modified holographic dark energy with variable $G$ in non-flat Kaluza$-$Klein universe. We consider the non-interacting and interacting scenarios of the modified holographic dark energy with dark matter and obtain the equation of state parameter through logarithmic approach. It turns out that the universe remains in different dark energy eras for both cases. Further, we study the validity of the generalized second law of thermodynamics in this scenario. We also justify that the statefinder parameters satisfy the limit of $Λ$CDM model.
An LRS Bianchi type-V cosmological models representing a viscous fluid distribution with a time dependent cosmological term $Λ$ is investigated. To get a determinate solution, the viscosity coefficient of bulk viscous fluid is assumed to be a power function of mass density. It turns out that the cosmological term $Λ(t)$ is a decreasing function of time, which is consistent with recent observations of type Ia supernovae. Various physical and kinematic features of these models have also been explored.
The purpose of this paper is to propose an extension to Lee Smolin's hypothesis that our own universe belongs to a population of universes evolving by natural selection. Smolin's hypothesis explains why the parameters of physics possess the values we observe them to possess, but depends upon the contingent fact that the universe is a quantum relativistic universe. It is proposed that the prior existence of a quantum relativistic universe can itself be explained by postulating that a process of cosmogenic drift evolves universes towards stable ('rigid') mathematical structures.

Einstein field equations with a cosmological constant are approximated to the second order in the perturbation to a flat background metric. The final result is a set of Einstein-Maxwell-Proca equations for gravity in the weak field regime. This approximation procedure implements the breaking of gauge symmetry in general relativity. A brief discussion of the physical consequences (Pioneer anomalous deceleration) is proposed in the framework of the gauge theory of gravity.
