The cross section of associated production of a Z boson with heavy flavor jets in $pp$ collisions is calculated using the SHERPA Monte Carlo generator and the analytical combined QCD approach based on kt-factorization at small x and conventional collinear QCD at large x. A satisfactory description of the ATLAS and CMS data on the $p_T$ spectra of Z bosons and c-jets in the whole rapidity, y, region is shown. Searching for the intrinsic charm (IC) contribution in these processes, which could be visible at large y > 1.5, we study observables very sensitive to non-zero IC contributions and less affected by theoretical QCD scale uncertainties. One of such observables is the so-called double ratio: the ratio of the differential cross section of Z + c production in the central region of |y| < 1.5 and in the forward region 1.5 < |y| < 2.5, divided by the same ratio for Z + b production. These observables could be more promising for the search of IC at LHC as compared to the observables considered earlier.
We present the results of a calculation of the intrinsic charm quark contribution to $J/ψ$ plus open charm associated production at large transverse momentum in hadron collisions at high energies. It is shown that the value of the cross section for such process and its energy dependence are significantly determined by the choice of charm quark distribution function. We find that intrinsic charm contribution to inclusive $J/ψ$ hadroproduction is about 1\% of the total contribution of all mechanisms.
Following an introduction which explains some basic ideas about diffraction, the semiclassical approach to diffraction in deep inelastic scattering (DIS) is outlined. Some phenomenological tests of this picture, concerning the $p_{\perp}$ and mass spectra of open charm and jet production are given.
We present a calculation of open charm quark production in diffractive deep inelastic electron-proton scattering in a perturbative QCD framework. The cross section is proportional to the square of the gluon density and explicitly displays breaking of Regge factorization. Jet cross sections as well as the charm contribution to the diffractive structure function are calculated. As a consequence of the steep rise of the gluon density at small x the charm contribution to $F_2^{D}$ rises with decreasing x_P.
This is an extension of the prediction of strange baryon decays to the decays of charmed baryons using QCD Sum Rules. Using QCD Sum Rules we estimate the decay $Λ^+_c (udc) \rightarrow Λ^o_s(uds)+ π^+$. Although some weak decays of the $Λ^+_c$ have been measured, since it is difficult to measure $Λ^+_c \rightarrow Λ^o_s+ π^+$ our estimates should be useful for future experiments
Up to now, the existence of intrinsic (or valence-like) heavy quark component of the proton distribution functions has not yet been confirmed or rejected. The LHC with pp-collisions at $\sqrt{s}$ = 7-13 TeV can supply us with extra unique information concerning this hypothesis. On the basis of our theoretical studies, it is demonstrated that investigations of the intrinsic heavy quark contributions look very promising in processes like $pp \rightarrow Z/W + c(b) + X$. A ratio of $Z+$ heavy jets over $W+$ heavy jets differential cross section as a function of the leading jet transverse momentum…
The two particle inclusive cross section for the reaction $p +\bar{p}\rightarrow γ+ c + X$ is studied in perturbative quantum chromodynamics at order $O(α^2_s)$. Differential distributions are provided for various observables, and a comparison is made with data from the CDF collaboration.
We study the production of a W boson in association with n hard QCD jets (for n>=2), with a particular emphasis on results relevant for the Large Hadron Collider (7 TeV and 8 TeV). We present predictions for this process from High Energy Jets, a framework for all-order resummation of the dominant contributions from wide-angle QCD emissions. We first compare predictions against recent ATLAS data and then shift focus to observables and regions of phase space where effects beyond NLO are expected to be large.
In this paper, we investigate the decay of Higgs boson to $h_c$ plus a photon in the NRQCD theoretical framework. Comparing with the Higgs decay to $J/ψ$ plus a photon channel, this process has not indirect contribution, can be used to detect the Yukawa coupling of Higgs and charm quarks. The results show that the decay branch ratio of this process is about $10^{-8}$. If we takes into account the $10^{-3}$ efficiency in the $h_c$ detection, no events will be available even in the case of $30ab^{-1}$ luminosity at FCC-pp with 100 TeV center of mass energy. However, if the detection efficiency o…
We present predictions for the inclusive production of charm jets in proton-proton collisions at 7 TeV. Several CTEQ parton distribution functions (PDFs) of the CTEQ6.6M type are employed, where two of the CTEQ6.6 PDFs have intrinsic charm. At large enough jet transverse momentum and large jet rapidity, the intrinsic charm content can be tested.
A brief summary of the current status of the next-to-leading order QCD corrections to top quark pair production and the associated production of top anti-top with jet(s) in different configurations, i.e. with one jet, two jets and another top anti-top pair, is presented.
The associated production of a $J/ψ$ and a $π$-meson in antiproton-nucleon annihilation is studied in the framework of QCD collinear factorization. In this approach, a hard subprocess responsible for the production of the heavy quark-antiquark pair factorizes from soft hadronic matrix elements, such as the antiproton (nucleon) distribution amplitude and the nucleon-to-pion (antiproton-to-pion) transition distribution amplitude. This reaction mechanism should dominate the forward and backward kinematical regions, where the cross sections are expected to be measurable in the set-up of the PANDA …
The heavy quark expansion implemented through an operator product expansion provides us with a treatment of inclusive decays of beauty and charm hadrons that is genuinely derived from QCD,though it requires one additional assumption, namely that of 'local' quark-hadron duality. Subtleties in the application of factorization to hadronic expectation values are pointed out. The observed pattern in the charm lifetime ratios is reproduced in a semi-quantitative manner. The ratio $τ(Λ_b)/τ(B_d)$ cannot be pushed significantly below 0.9 -- unless one invokes a new hitherto unknown paradigm for evalua…
We investigate the inclusive emission in unpolarized proton collisions of a charm-flavored hadron in association with a Higgs boson, featuring large transverse momenta and produced with a large rapidity distance. Taking advantage of a narrow timing coincidence between the ATLAS detector and the future FPF ones, we study the behavior of cross sections and azimuthal correlations for ultraforward rapidities of the detected hadron. We provide evidence that the hybrid high-energy and collinear factorization, encoding the BFKL resummation of large energy logarithms and supplemented by collinear dens…
We present the full NLO QCD corrections to the production of a W^+W^- pair in association with two jets in hadronic collisions, which is an important background to New Physics and Higgs boson searches. We include leptonic decays of the W-bosons with full spin correlations. We find NLO corrections of the order of 10% for standard cuts at the LHC. The scale dependence is considerably reduced by the NLO corrections.
We report on the calculation of the cross section for Higgs boson production in association with three jets via gluon fusion, at next-to-leading-order (NLO) accuracy in QCD, in the infinite top-mass approximation. After including the complete NLO QCD corrections, we observe a strong reduction in the scale dependence of the result, and an increased steepness in the transverse momentum distributions of both the Higgs and the leading jets. The results are obtained with the combined use of GoSam, Sherpa, and the MadDipole/MadEvent framework.
We investigate the prospects of measuring the strange quark distribution function at the Tevatron, using $W$ plus charm quark events. The $W$ plus charm quark signal produced by strange quark--gluon fusion, $sg\rightarrow W^-c$ and $\bar sg\rightarrow W^+\bar c$, is approximately 5\% of the inclusive $W+1$ jet cross section for jets with a transverse momentum $p_T(j)>10$~GeV. We study the sensitivity of the $W$ plus charm quark cross section to the parametrization of the strange quark distribution function, and evaluate the various background processes. Strategies to identify charm quarks in C…
There exist several recent studies of the top-quark CEDM in the context of searching for CP violating signals in top-quark pair production at the LHC. Most of these studies constrain the CEDM either from deviations in the top-pair cross section from its standard model value, or from T-odd asymmetries in the dimuon channel. Motivated by ATLAS and CMS interest, we extend the study of T-odd asymmetries to the lepton plus jets channel. At the parton level, using MadGraph, we identify the most promising signals and their statistical sensitivity. We find that the signals with larger sensitivity to t…
After reviewing the main features of the GoSam framework for automated one-loop calculations, we present a selection of recent phenomenological results obtained with it. In particular, we focus on the recent calculation of NLO QCD corrections to the production of a Higgs boson in conjunction with jets at the LHC.
We present predictions for the inclusive production of charm jets in proton-proton collisions at 2.76 and 5.02 TeV. The charm-quark is considered massless. In this scheme we find that the ratio of the next-to-leading order to the leading order cross section (K factor) is almost equal to one depending essentially on the choice of the renormalization and factorization scale. Adding non-pertubative corrections obtained from Pythia Monte Carlo calculations lead to reasonable agreement with experimental c-jet cross sections obtained by the CMS collaboration.
We determine the charm-quark mass mc(mc) in the MS-bar scheme using measurements of charm production in deep-inelastic ep scattering at HERA in the kinematic range of photon virtuality from 5 to 1000 GeV squared and Bjorken scaling variable from 0.0001 to 0.5. The extraction of charm quark mass from this process with space-like kinematics provides complementary information to results from hadronic processes. The QCD analysis of the HERA data yields a value of mc(mc) of 1.27 plus minus 0.05(exp) plus 0.06 minus 0.01(scale) GeV at next-to-leading order and mc(mc) of 1.36 plus minus 0.04(exp) plu…
We present a new evaluation of the far-forward neutrino plus antineutrino flux and number of events from charm hadron decays in a 400 GeV proton beam dump experiment like the Search for Hidden Particles (SHiP). Using next-to-leading order perturbative QCD and a model for intrinsic charm, we include intrinsic transverse momentum effects and other kinematic angular corrections. We compare this flux to a far-forward flux evaluated with next-to-leading order perturbative QCD, without intrinsic transverse momentum, that used the angular distribution of charm quarks rather than the neutrinos from th…
We consider an observable very sensitive to the non-zero intrinsic charm (IC) contribution to the proton density. It is the ratio between the differential cross sections of the photon or $Z$-boson and $c$-jet production in the $pp$ collision, $γ(Z) + c$, and the $γ(Z)$ and the $b$-jet production. It is shown that this ratio can be approximately flat or increasing at large $γ(Z)$ transverse momenta $p_T$ and their pseudo-rapidities $1.5 < η< 2.4$ if the IC contribution is taken into account. On the contrary, in the absence of the IC this ratio decreases as $p_T$ grows. We also present the ratio…
In this talk we present a calculation of Higgs production via gluon fusion in association with two jets, including the full top-quark mass dependence, and compare it to the large top-mass limit. We find that the large top-mass limit is a good approximation as long as the Higgs mass is smaller than the top quark pair mass, and the jet transverse energies are smaller than the top mass. In addition, we compare Higgs production via gluon fusion and via weak-boson fusion, and consider final-state distributions, like the rapidity interval between the jets and the jet-jet azimuthal decorrelation, whi…
We compute the charm dijet photoproduction cross section at next-to-leading order of QCD in the zero-mass variable flavour number scheme, i.e. with active charm quarks in the proton and photon. The results are compared to recent measurements from the ZEUS experiment at HERA. The predictions for various distributions agree well with the data, in particular for large momentum fractions of the the partons in the photon, where direct photon processes dominate. At low momentum fractions, the predictions are quite sensitive to the charm content in the photon. The experimental data are shown to favou…
If studies of electroweak gauge boson final states at the Large Hadron Collider, for Standard Model physics and beyond, are sensitive to effects of the initial state's transverse momentum distribution, appropriate generalizations of QCD shower evolution are required. We propose a method to do this based on QCD transverse momentum dependent (TMD) factorization at high energy. The method incorporates experimental information from the high-precision deep inelastic scattering (DIS) measurements, and includes experimental and theoretical uncertainties on TMD parton density functions. We illustrate …
In a coalescence plus fragmentation approach we calculate the heavy baryon/meson ratio and the $p_T$ spectra of charmed hadrons $D^{0}$, $D_{s}$ and $Λ_{c}^{+}$ in a wide range of transverse momentum from low $p_T$ up to about 10 GeV and discuss their ratios from RHIC to LHC energies without any change of the coalescence parameters. We have included the contribution from decays of heavy hadron resonances and also the one due to fragmentation of heavy quarks which do not undergo the coalescence process. The coalescence process is tuned to have all charm quarks hadronizing in the $p_T\rightarrow…
We study the sensitivity of top pair production with six-fermion decay at the LHC to the presence and nature of an underlying Z' boson, accounting for full tree-level Standard Model ttbar interference, with all intermediate particles allowed off-shell. We concentrate on the lepton-plus-jets final state and simulate experimental conditions, including kinematic requirements and top quark pair reconstruction in the presence of missing transverse energy and combinatorial ambiguity in jet-top assignment. We focus on the differential mass spectra of the cross section and asymmetry observables, espec…
The recent experimental measurements on $pp$ collisions at $\sqrt{s}=5.02 \,\rm TeV$ have shown a very large abundance of heavy baryon production corresponding to a ratio of $Λ_c/D^0 \sim 0.6$, about one order of magnitude larger than what measured in $e^+e^-$, $ep$ collisions and even in $pp$ collisions at LHC, but at forward rapidity. We apply for the first time to $pp$ collisions a quark coalescence plus fragmentation approach developed for $AA$ collisions, assuming the formation of Hot QCD matter at finite temperature. An approach that has correctly predicted a $Λ_c/D \sim O(1)$ in AA coll…
A report on the recent next-to-leading order QCD calculations to t anti-t b anti-b and t anti-t + 2j processes at the CERN Large Hardon Collider is presented. Results for integrated and differential cross sections are given. A significant reduction of the scale dependence is observed in both cases, which indicates that the perturbative expansion is well under control. The results are obtained in the framework of the HELAC-NLO system.
We consider the production of a Higgs pseudoscalar accompanied by two jets in hadronic collisions. We work in the limit that the top quark is much heavier than the Higgs pseudoscalar and use an effective Lagrangian for the interactions of gluons with the pseudoscalar. We compute the amplitudes involving: 1) four gluons and the pseudoscalar, 2) two quarks, two gluons and the pseudoscalar and 3) four quarks and the pseudoscalar. We find that the pseudoscalar amplitudes are nearly identical to those for the scalar case, the only differences being the overall size and the relative signs between te…
We study the production of a Standard Model Higgs boson in the gluon-fusion channel at the 13 TeV LHC. Our results are accurate to the next-to-leading order in QCD, bar for the lack of some two-loop amplitudes, for up to two extra jets and are matched to the PYTHIA8 Monte Carlo. We address the impact, at the level of inclusive rates and of differential distributions, of the merging of samples characterised by different final-state multiplicities, and of the effects induced by top and bottom masses through heavy-quark loop diagrams. We find that both the merging and the heavy-quark masses must …
We calculate the next-to-leading order electroweak corrections to the production of a photon pair in association with zero, one and two jets at the LHC. We use GoSam and Sherpa to obtain the results in a fully automated way. For a typical set of fiducial cuts the electroweak corrections lead to a modification of the total cross section of up to 3 per cent, depending on the jet multiplicity. We find substantial contributions in differential distributions, leading to tens of per cent corrections for phase space regions within the reach of the LHC. Furthermore we investigate the importance of pho…
Top plus jets production at hadron collider allows us to study the couplings of the top quark. In the Standard Model, two single top processes contribute to the top-jets final state. Beyond the Standard Model, additional direct top production can occur. All three processes probe top gauge couplings including flavor mixing. The structure of accompanying QCD jets allows us to separate the direct top signal from the QCD backgrounds as well as to disentangle the three top plus jets production mechanisms orthogonally to the usual bottom tags.
We present a proposal for performing model-independent jets plus missing energy searches. Currently, these searches are optimized for mSUGRA and are consequently not sensitive to all kinematically-accessible regions of parameter space. We show that the reach of these searches can be broadened by setting limits on the differential cross section as a function of the total visible energy and the missing energy. These measurements only require knowledge of the relevant Standard Model backgrounds and can be subsequently used to limit any theoretical model of new physics. We apply this approach to a…
We present the matching of the next-to-leading order QCD calculation for W+W+jj production via vector-boson fusion in hadronic collisions to parton-shower Monte-Carlo programs according to the POWHEG method. Our implementation complements existing code for QCD-induced W+W+jj production in the POWHEGBOX package, thereby providing a platform for the complete Standard Model production of W+W+jj events via QCD and electroweak interactions. The impact of parton-shower effects is discussed for various distributions and found to be small in most cases. However, few observables, that are relevant for …
We calculate the decay rate of bottomonium to two-charm quark jets $Υ\to c \bar c$ at the tree level and one-loop level including color-singlet and color-octet $b \bar b$ annihilations. We find that the short distance coefficient of the color-octet piece is much larger than the color-singlet piece, and that the QCD correction will change the endpoint behavior of the charm quark jet. The color-singlet piece is strongly affected by the one-loop QCD correction. In contrast, the QCD correction to the color-octet piece is weak. Once the experiment can measure the branching ratio and energy distribu…
The sensitivity of top quark pair production at the Large Hadron Collider to the presence and nature of an underlying Z' boson is studied, accounting for six-fermion decay with full tree-level Standard Model ttbar interference and all intermediate particles allowed off-shell. Focus is placed on the lepton-plus-jets final state, emulating experimental conditions, including kinematic requirements and top quark pair reconstruction in the presence of missing transverse energy and combinatorial ambiguity in jet-top assignment. Considering a resonance with mass of 4 TeV, and assuming 300 inverse fb …
We present the calculation of the NLO QCD corrections to the associated production of a Higgs boson and two jets, in the infinite top-mass limit. We discuss the technical details of the computation and we show the numerical impact of the radiative corrections on several observables at the LHC. The results are obtained by using a fully automated framework for fixed order NLO QCD calculations based on the interplay of the packages GoSam and Sherpa. The evaluation of the virtual corrections constitutes an application of the d-dimensional integrand-level reduction to theories with higher dimension…
We present first results of $Z+4$ jet cross sections at the Tevatron $p\bar p$ collider with heavy quark flavor identification. The $Z + 4$ jet channel is of particular interest as a normalizer for the $W +4$ jet background to top quark signals, as a background to a possible $t\to cZ$ flavor-changing neutral-current (FCNC) decay signal, and as a background to missing-$p_T$ signals from gluino pairs. We also calculate the different heavy flavor contributions to $W+4$ jet production. The MADGRAPH program is used to generate all leading order subprocess helicity amplitudes. We present Monte Carlo…
We discuss various issues related to the definition of single and double open charm cross sections. We conclude that LHCb's extraction of sigma_effective, the effective cross section for double-parton scattering, is too large by a factor of two. This correction brings the data from open-charm pairs closer to that from J/psi plus open charm and jet production.
We present several differential distributions for the associated production of charm and dijets. Both single-parton scattering (SPS) and double-parton scattering (DPS) contributions are calculated in the $k_T$-factorization approach. We have found regions of the phase space where the SPS contribution is negligible compared to the DPS one. The distribution in transverse momentum of charmed mesons as well as azimuthal correlations ($D^0\mathrm{\textit{-jet}}$, $D^0 \overline{D^0}$) can be used for experimental identification of the DPS effects.
We present a description of the production of a di-lepton pair (through Z boson and virtual photon) in association with at least two jets. This calculation adds to the fixed-order accuracy the dominant logarithms in the limit of large partonic centre-of-mass energy to all orders in the strong coupling. This is achieved within the framework of High Energy Jets. This calculation is made possible by extending the high energy treatment to take into account the multiple t-channel exchanges arising from Z and gamma*-emissions off several quark lines. The correct description of the interference effec…
Within the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM) the production and decay of superpartners can give rise to backgrounds for Higgs boson searches. Here MSSM background processes to the vector boson fusion channel with the Higgs boson decaying into two tau leptons or two W-bosons are investigated, giving rise to dilepton plus missing transverse momentum signals of the Higgs boson. Starting from a scenario with relatively small masses of the supersymmetric (SUSY) particles, with concomitant large cross section of the background processes, one obtains a first conservative estimate of the ba…
The cross sections for charm and bottom quark production in the threshold region are discussed. We consider the effects of an all order resummation of initial state soft-plus-virtual gluon radiation on the total cross sections compared to the order $α_s^3$ results.
Jets plus missing transverse energy is one of the main search channels for new physics at the LHC. A major limitation lies in our understanding of QCD backgrounds. Using jet merging we can describe the number of jets in typical background channels in terms of a staircase scaling, including theory uncertainties. The scaling parameter depends on the particles in the final state and on cuts applied. Measuring the staircase scaling will allow us to also predict the effective mass for Standard Model backgrounds. Based on both observables we propose an analysis strategy avoiding model specific cuts …
The left-right symmetric model may present evidence of new physics at the era of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). We use its framework to investigate the lepton number violating process $pp \to e^\pm e^\pm jj+X$ at the $\unit[14]{TeV}$ LHC. We show that for an integrated luminosity of $\unit[300]{fb^{-1}}$, the discovery contour of the right-handed boson $W_R$ and the right-handed electron neutrino $N_e$ as a result of the $pp \to W^\pm_R \to e^\pm N \to e^\pm e^\pm jj$ process can be expanded upon considering an additional channel mediated by the right-handed doubly charged Higgs $δ^{\pm\pm}_…
Using the Woods Saxon plus Coulomb type of interaction between two hadron molecules, we have calculated the binding energies and masses of the tetraquark states such as $D\bar{D}$, $D\bar{D}^*$, $D^*\bar{D}^*$, $D^+\bar{D}^*$ in the charm sector and $B\bar{B}$, $B^*\bar{B}^*$, $B\bar{B}^*$ in the bottom sector.
The High Energy Jets (HEJ) framework accounts for large logarithms arising from the wide angle hard gluon emissions. The resummation in HEJ is based on an approximation to allow fast evaluation for arbitrary multiplicity. The approximation is motivated by the high energy limit and as such captures the leading logarithmic corrections in large invariant mass between the partons. These corrections are important when there is a large separation in rapidity between the produced jets. This situation arises in a Higgs boson plus jets analysis. Furthermore, HEJ includes matching to full tree level acc…
We present a next-to-leading order calculation of Higgs boson production plus one and two jets via gluon fusion interfaced to shower Monte Carlo programs, implemented according to the POWHEG method. For this implementation we have used a new interface of the POWHEG BOX with MadGraph4, that generates the codes for generic Born and real processes automatically. The virtual corrections have been taken from the MCFM code. We carry out a simple phenomenological study of our generators, comparing them among each other and with fixed next-to-leading order results.
We consider the production of a Standard Model Higgs boson accompanied by two jets in hadronic collisions. We work in the limit that the top quark is much heavier than the Higgs boson and use an effective Lagrangian for the interactions of gluons with the Higgs boson. In addition to the previously computed four-gluon process, we compute the the amplitudes involving two quarks, two gluons and the Higgs boson and those involving four quarks and the Higgs boson. We exhibit the form of our results in the small-p_H and factorization limits. We present numerical results for root S of 14 TeV and root…
Experimentally probing the charm-Yukawa coupling in the LHC experiments is important, but very challenging due to an enormous QCD background. We study a new channel that can be used to search for the Higgs decay $H\to c\bar c$, using the vector boson fusion (VBF) mechanism with an associated photon. In addition to suppressing the QCD background, the photon gives an effective trigger handle. We discuss the trigger implications of this final state that can be utilized in ATLAS and CMS. We propose a novel search strategy for $H\to c\bar c$ in association with VBF jets and a photon, where we find …
Contributions through second order, $O(α^2_s)$, in perturbative quantum chromodynamics are calculated analytically for inclusive associated production of a prompt photon and a charm quark at large values of transverse momentum in high energy hadron-hadron collisions. Seven partonic subprocesses contribute at order $α^2_s$. We find important corrections to the lowest order, $O(α_s)$, subprocess $c g \rightarrow γc$. We demonstrate to what extent data from $p +\bar{p}\rightarrow γ+ c + X$ may serve to measure the charm quark density in the nucleon.
In this contribution the developments in the description of vector boson plus jets signatures at hadron colliders in recent years are summarised. Particular focus is put on its relevance as background to top physics.
An outstanding mystery of charmonium physics is why the J/ψdecays prominently to pseudoscalar plus vector meson channels, such as J/ψ-> ρπand J/ψ-> K^*K, whereas the ψ'(2S) does not. We show that such decays of J/ψand their suppression for ψ'(2S) follow naturally from the existence of intrinsic charm |qbar q cbar c> Fock components of the light vector mesons.
Within the 3-3-1 model framework, we consider the production and decay of fermionic leptoquarks into a striking experimental signature at the LHC: a narrow resonance at the $b$ jet plus same-sign dileptons channel. The data already accumulated by the LHC collaborations may hide a large number of events associated to the production and decay of such exotic quarks, allowing one to investigate large portions of the parameters space of the model. The observation or not of such events would shed light on the construction of models presenting heavy exotic quarks.
We study Higgs boson plus two high energy jets production at the LHC in the kinematics where the two jets are well separated in rapidity. The partonic processes are dominated by the t-channel weak boson fusion (WBF) and gluon fusion (GF) contributions. We derive the associated QCD resummation formalism for the correlation analysis where the total transverse momentum q_\perp of the Higgs boson and two jets is small. Because of different color structures, the resummation results lead to distinguished behaviors: the WBF contribution peaks at relative low q_\perp while all GF channel contributions…
We explore the feasibility of the measurement of charm-jet cross sections in charged-current deep-inelastic scattering at the future Electron-Ion Collider. This channel provides clean sensitivity to the strangeness content of the nucleon in the high-$x$ region. We estimate charm-jet tagging performance with parametrized detector simulations. We show the expected sensitivity to various scenarios for strange parton distribution functions. We argue that this measurement will be key to future QCD global analyses, so it should inform EIC detector designs and luminosity requirements.
