$T$-odd correlations in polarized top quark decays in the sequential decay $t(\uparrow) \to X_b+W^+(\to \ell^+ + ν_\ell)$ and in the quasi three-body decay $t(\uparrow) \to X_b+ \ell^+ + ν_\ell$
We identify the $T$-odd structure functions that appear in the description of polarized top quark decays in the sequential decay $t(\uparrow) \to X_b+W^+(\to \ell^+ + ν_\ell)$ (two structure functions) and the quasi-three-body decay $t(\uparrow) \to X_b+ \ell^+ + ν_\ell$ (one structure function). A convenient measure of the magnitude of the $T$-odd structure functions is the contribution of the imaginary part Im $g_R$ of the right-chiral tensor coupling $g_R$ to the $T$-odd structure functions which we work out. Contrary to the case of QCD the NLO electroweak corrections to polarized top quark decays admit of absorptive one-loop vertex contributions. We analytically calculate the imaginary parts of the relevant four electroweak one-loop triangle vertex diagrams and determine their contributions to the $T$-odd helicity structure functions that appear in the description of polarized top quark decays.
We consider the production of $W$ and $Z / γ^{*}$ gauge bosons in proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of $\sqrt{s} = 510 \mbox{GeV}$ available at RHIC at BNL, operating at high luminosity. We stress the importance of measuring the transverse double-spin asymmetries $A_{TT}$, in connection with available transversely polarized beams with a high degree of polarisation. We will discuss some theoretical issues related to the predicted asymmetries. These studies are contrasted to the 2017 RHIC running operation of transversely polarized beams of mid-rapidity $W$ and $Z$ boson produc…
We discuss the production of polarized hadrons in polarized lepton nucleon interactions and show that the helicity density matrix of the hadron, when measurable, can give information on the spin structure of the nucleon and the spin dependence of the quark fragmentation process. Single spin asymmetries in the $\ell N^\uparrow \to hX$ process are also briefly discussed.
We compute the next-to-next-to-leading order (NNLO) QCD corrections to the decay $t(\uparrow) \to X_b +W^+$ of a polarized top quark. The spin-momentum correlation in this quasi two-body decay is described by the polar angle distribution $\mathrm{d}Γ/\mathrm{d}\cosθ_P=\fracΓ{2}(1+P_t\, α_P\, \cosθ_P)$ where $P_t$ is the polarization of the top quark and $α_P$ denotes the asymmetry parameter of the decay. For the latter we find $α^{\mathrm{NNLO}}_P=0.3792\pm 0.0037$.
We calculate the $ O(α_s) $ radiative corrections to polarized top quark decay into a charged Higgs boson and a massive bottom quark in two variants of the two-Higgs-doublet model. The radiative corrections to the polarization asymmetry of the decay may become as large as $ 25 % $. We provide analytical formulae for the unpolarized and polarized rates for $ m_b \neq 0 $ and for $ m_b = 0 $. For $ m_b = 0 $ our closed-form expressions for the unpolarized and polarized rates become rather compact.
We consider the decay of a polarized top quark into a stable $W^+$ boson and charmed-flavored (D) or bottom-flavored (B) hadrons, via $t(\uparrow)\rightarrow W^++D/B+X$. We study the angular distribution of the scaled-energy of B/D-hadrons at next-to-leading order (NLO) considering the contribution of bottom and gluon fragmentations into the heavy mesons B and D. To obtain the energy spectrum of B/D-hadrons we present our analytical expressions for the parton-level differential decay widths of $t(\uparrow)\rightarrow b+W^+(+g)$ at NLO. Comparison of our predictions with data at the LHC enable …
Cross section formulas for the single spin asymmetry in $p^\uparrow p\to π(\ell_T)X$ and $e p^\uparrow \to π(\ell_T)X$ are derived and its characteristic features are discussed.
Within a TMD approach we discuss the impact of quasi-real (Weizsäcker-Williams) photon contribution to the transverse single-spin asymmetry, $A_N$, for the inclusive process $\ell p^\uparrow \to π\, X$. This study extends a previous one where only the leading-order contribution was taken into account. Predictions are obtained adopting the Sivers and transversity distributions and the Collins fragmentation functions as extracted from fits to the azimuthal asymmetries measured in semi-inclusive deep inelastic scattering and $e^+e^-$ annihilation processes. The description of the available data i…
Spin observables may reveal much deeper properties of non perturbative hadronic physics than unpolarized quantities. We discuss here possible origins of single spin asymmetries in DIS, absent in the elementary lepton-quark interactions, and suggest strategies to isolate and understand some non perturbative spin dependence of distribution and fragmentation functions. We also discuss the polarization of hadrons produced in $e^+e^-$ annihilation at LEP and show how final state $\qq$ interactions may give origin to non zero values of the off-diagonal element $ρ_{1,-1}$ of the helicity density matr…
We calculate the single transverse spin asymmetry (STSA) in polarized proton-proton ($p^{\uparrow}+p$) and polarized proton-nucleus ($p^{\uparrow}+A$) collisions ($A_N$) generated by a partonic lensing mechanism. The polarized proton is considered in the quark-diquark model while its interaction with the unpolarized target is calculated using the small-$x$/saturation approach, which includes multiple rescatterings and small-$x$ evolution. The phase required for the asymmetry is caused by a final-state gluon exchange between the quark and diquark, as is standard in the lensing mechanism of Brod…
We revisit the large instanton contribution to the gluon Pauli form factor of the constituent quark noted by Kochelev. We check that it contributes sizably to the single spin asymmetry in polarized $p_\uparrow p \rightarrow πX$. We use it to predict a large double spin asymmetry in doubly polarized $p_\uparrow p_\uparrow\rightarrow ππX$.
We present an updated study of transverse single-spin asymmetries for the inclusive large-$P_T$ processes $\ell \, p^\uparrow \to h\, X$ and $\ell\, p^\uparrow \to {\rm jet}\,X$, within a transverse momentum-dependent approach, including the contribution of quasireal (Weizsäcker-Williams) photons. In the spirit of a unified transverse momentum-dependent scheme, predictions are obtained adopting the Sivers and transversity distributions and the Collins fragmentation functions as extracted from fits to the azimuthal asymmetries measured in semi-inclusive deep inelastic scattering and $e^+e^-$ an…
In our previous work, we studied the polar distribution of the scaled energy of bottom-flavored hadrons from polarized top quark decays $t(\uparrow)\rightarrow W^++b(\rightarrow X_b)$, using two different helicity coordinate systems. Basically, the energy distributions are governed by the unpolarized, polar and azimuthal rate functions which are related to the density matrix elements of the decay $t(\uparrow)\rightarrow W^++b$. Here we present, for the first time, the analytical expressions for the ${\cal O}(α_s)$ radiative corrections to the differential azimuthal decay rates of the partonic …
We report on the status of an ongoing calculation of the NLO electroweak corrections to sequential polarized top quark decays $t(\uparrow) \to X_b +W^+ (\to \ell^+ +ν_\ell)$.
We derive a positivity bound on the right-chiral tensor coupling Im $g_R$ in polarized top quark decay by analyzing the angular decay distribution of the three-body polarized top quark decay $t(\uparrow)\to b+\ell^+ +ν_\ell$ in NLO QCD. We obtain the bound $-0.0420 \le$ Im $g_R \le 0.0420$.
We recently estimated pion+X production via proton collisions with a polarized proton target to enable the Collins fragmentation function to be determined via future experiments. In the present article we first estimate the Silvers differential cross section obtianed from experiments with the target proton having both positive and negative polarizations, and then estimate the Sivers Function using quark distribution functions.
We compute the contribution from the twist-3 fragmentation function for light hadron production in collisions between transversely and longitudinally polarized protons, i.e., $p^\uparrow \vec{p} \to h\,X$, which can cause a double-spin asymmetry (DSA) $A_{LT}$. This is a naïve T-even twist-3 observable that we analyze in collinear factorization using both Feynman gauge and lightcone gauge as well as give a general proof of color gauge invariance. So far only twist-3 effects in the transversely polarized proton have been studied for $A_{LT}$ in $p^\uparrow \vec{p} \to h\,X$. However, there are …
We suggest inclusive hadron production in ultra-peripheral proton-nucleus collisions (UPCs) $p^\uparrow A \to h AX$ as a new channel to investigate single spin asymmetries (SSAs), in particular, to test the assumed dominance of the contribution from twist-three fragmentation functions. The UPC cross sections are obtained by considering the photoproduction limit of semi-inclusive deep inelastic scattering (SIDIS). In particular, we find simple formulas for the polarized UPC cross sections in the collinear twist-three framework. We then numerically calculate the fragmentation contribution to SSA…
We consider the inclusive production of hadrons in lepton-nucleon scattering. For a transversely polarized nucleon this reaction shows a left-right azimuthal asymmetry, which we compute in twist-3 collinear factorization at leading order in perturbation theory. All non-perturbative parton correlators of the calculation are fixed through information from other hard processes. Our results for the left-right asymmetry agree in sign with recent data for charged pion production from the HERMES Collaboration and from Jefferson Lab. However, the magnitude of the computed asymmetries tends to be large…
In this paper, we extend the study of Drell-Yan processes with antiproton beams already presented in a previous work. We consider the fully polarized $\bar{p}^\uparrow p^\uparrow \to μ^+ μ^- X$ process, because this is the simplest scenario for extracting the transverse spin distribution of quarks, or transversity, which is the missing piece to complete the knowledge of the nucleon spin structure at leading twist. We perform Monte Carlo simulations for transversely polarized antiproton and proton beams colliding at a center-of-mass energy of interest for the future HESR at GSI. The goal is to …
We compute the transverse single spin asymmetry in forward $p^\uparrow p \to hX$ and $p^\uparrow A \to hX$ collisions from the odderon mechanism originally suggested by Kovchegov and Sievert [1]. Working in the hybrid approach of the Color Glass Condensate effective theory we firstly identify the relevant collinear parton distribution function (PDF) of the transversely polarized proton $p^\uparrow$ as the intrinsic twist-3 $g_T(x)$ distribution. We further argue that the complete polarized cross section also contains contributions from the kinematical and the dynamical twist-3 PDFs, in additio…
We present O(α_s) results on the decays of polarized W^+- and Z bosons into massive quark pairs. The NLO QCD corrections to the polarized decay functions are given up to the second order in the quark mass expansion. We find a surprisingly strong dependence of the NLO polarized decay functions on finite quark mass effects even at the relatively large mass scale of the W^+- and Z bosons. As a main application we consider the decay t -> b + W^+ involving the helicity fractions ρ_{mm} of the W^+ boson followed by the polarized decay W^+(\uparrow) -> q_1 qbar_2 for which we determine the O(α_s) pol…
Cross section formulas for the $Λ$ polarization in $pp\toΛ^\uparrow(\ell_T)X$ and $ep\toΛ^\uparrow(\ell_T)X$ are derived and its characteristic features are discussed.
We propose that back-to-back correlations in azimuthal angle of jets produced in collisions of unpolarized with transversely polarized proton beams could be used to determine Sivers functions. The corresponding single-spin asymmetry is not power-suppressed, but is subject to Sudakov suppression. We present estimates of the asymmetry (without and with Sudakov effects) for RHIC at jet transverse momenta of ~10 GeV and show that it may reach a few per cent or more and could provide access to the gluon Sivers function.
We study the single transverse-spin asymmetry for the inclusive open-charm production in the pp-collision, p^\uparrow p\to DX, induced by the three-gluon correlation functions in the polarized nucleon. We derive the corresponding twist-3 cross section formula in the leading order with respect to the QCD coupling constant. As in the case of the semi-inclusive deep inelastic scattering, ep^\uparrow\to eDX, our result differs from the previous result in the literature. We also derive a "master formula" which expresses the twist-3 cross section in terms of the gg\to c\bar{c} hard scattering cross …
We analyze the transverse single-spin asymmetry in direct photon production from proton-proton collisions, denoted $A_N^γ$, within collinear twist-3 factorization. We provide a calculation of the contribution due to quark-gluon-quark correlations in the unpolarized proton as well as summarize previous studies on those effects in the polarized proton. Both soft-gluon poles and soft-fermion poles are considered. From this complete result we then estimate $A_N^γ$, including error bands due to uncertainties in the non-perturbative inputs, at kinematics relevant for planned measurements of this obs…
We compute the contribution from the longitudinally polarized proton to the twist-3 double-spin asymmetry $A_{LT}$ in inclusive (light) hadron production from proton-proton collisions,i.e., $p^\uparrow \vec{p}\to h\,X$. We show that using the relevant QCD equation-of-motion relation and Lorentz invariance relation allows one to eliminate the twist-3 quark-gluon correlator (associated with the longitudinally polarized proton) in favor of one-variable twist-3 quark distributions and the (twist-2) transversity parton density. Including this result with the twist-3 pieces associated with the trans…
We compute the twist-three fragmentation contribution to the transverse single spin asymmetry (SSA) in light hadron production $p^\uparrow p\to hX$ and $p^\uparrow A\to hX$ including the gluon saturation effect in the unpolarized nucleon/nucleus. Together with the results in our previous paper, this completes the full evaluation of the SSA in this process in the "hybrid" formalism. We argue that the dependence of SSAs on the atomic mass number in the forward region can elucidate the relative importance of the soft gluon pole contribution from the twist-three quark-gluon-quark correlation in th…
We present an attempt of global analysis of Semi-Inclusive Deep Inelastic Scattering (SIDIS) $\ell p^\uparrow \to \ell' πX$ data on single spin asymmetries and data on left-right asymmetry $A_N$ in $p^\uparrow p \to πX$ in order to simultaneously extract information on Sivers function and twist-three quark-gluon Efremov-Teryaev-Qiu-Sterman (ETQS) function. We explore different possibilities such as node of Sivers function in $x$ or $k_\perp$ in order to explain "sign mismatch" between these functions. We show that $π^\pm$ SIDIS data and $π^0$ STAR data can be well described in a combined TMD a…
Mechanism for the single transverse spin asymmeties in the pion production, p^\uparrow + p'\to π(\ell_T) + X, and the Λhyperon polarization, p + p' \to Λ^\uparrow (\ell_T)+ X, is investigated in the framework of QCD factorization theorem. We identify all the soft-gluon pole contributions coming from the twist-3 distribution and/or fragmentation functions and show that they give rise to large asymmetries at large x_F.
We investigate the $\sin (ϕ_Λ-ϕ_S)$ single-spin asymmetry in the transversely polarized $Λ$ production in semi-inclusive deeply inelastic scattering process within the framework of the transverse momentum dependent~(TMD) factorization. The asymmetry is contributed by the convolution of the polarizing TMD fragmentation function $D_{1T}^\perp$ of the $Λ$ hyperon and the unpolarized TMD distribution function $f_1$ of the target nucleon. We apply two sets of $D_{1T}^{\perp,Λ^\uparrow/q}$, the spectator diquark model result and available parametrization, to numerically estimate the $\sin (ϕ_Λ-ϕ_S)$…
We study the single spin asymmetry (SSA) for the D-meson production $A_N^D$ in the $pp$ collision, $p^\uparrow p\to DX$, in the framework of the collinear factorization. Since the charm quark is mainly produced through the $c\bar{c}$-pair creation from the gluon-fusion process, this is an ideal process to probe the twist-3 triple-gluon correlation functions in the polarized nucleon. We derive the corresponding cross section formula for the contribution of the triple-gluon correlation function to $A_N^D$ in $p^\uparrow p\to DX$, applying the method developed for $ep^\uparrow\to eDX$ in our prev…
We study the transverse single-spin asymmetries for $p^\uparrow p\to π\, X$ and $p^\uparrow p\to γ\, X$ within the so-called color gauge invariant generalized parton model (CGI-GPM) which, in addition to spin and transverse momentum effects, includes initial and final state interactions with the polarized proton remnants. We compute all relevant contributions, focusing in particular on the process dependence of the gluon Sivers function, which, for these processes, can always be expressed as a linear combination of two independent, universal terms. This study extends and completes a previous o…
We study the azimuthal asymmetries in proton-proton Drell-Yan processes with one incident proton being transversely or longitudinally polarized. We consider particularly the asymmetries contributed by the leading-twist chiral-odd quark distributions. We analyze the asymmetries with $\sin(2ϕ+ϕ_S)$ and $\sin(2ϕ-ϕ_S)$ modulations in transverse single polarized $p^\uparrow p$ Drell-Yan and $\sin2ϕ$ asymmetries in longitudinal single polarized $p^\rightarrow p$ Drell-Yan at RHIC, J-PARC, E906 (Fermi Lab) and NICA (JINR). We show that the measurements of the asymmetries in those facilities can provi…
We consider QCD factorization between hard and soft subprocesses in inclusive reactions where the momentum fraction x of one parton approaches unity as the hard scale Q^2 -> \infty, such that Q^2(1-x) is fixed. In this "BB limit" the entire (multi-parton) Fock state containing the high x parton is coherent with the hard subprocess. The soft contribution is given by a forward multiparton matrix element. The BB limit corresponds to a fixed (large or small) missing mass and is thus closely connected to exclusive production. We analyze the Drell-Yan process h + N -> γ^* + X in detail, explaining w…
We present estimates of transverse single-spin asymmetry in prompt photon production in the scattering of low virtuality photons off a polarized proton target and discuss the possibility of using this as a probe to get information about the gluon Sivers function (GSF). Using a generalized parton model (GPM) framework, we estimate the asymmetries at electron-ion collider energy ($\sqrt{s}$ =140 GeV) taking into account both direct and resolved photon processes and find that the dominant contribution, up to $10\%$, comes from quark Sivers function (QSF) while the contribution from GSF is found t…
The measurements of reactions $π^- p_\uparrow \to π^- π^+ n$ at 17.2 GeV/c and $π^+ n_\uparrow \to π^+ π^- p$ at 5.98 and 11.85 GeV/c made at CERN with polarized targets provide a model-independent and solution-independent evidence for a narrow scalar state sigma(750). The original chi^2 minimization method and the recent Monte Carlo method for amplitude analysis of data at 17.2 GeV/c are in excellent agreement. Both methods find that the mass distribution of the measured amplitude $|\overline S |^2Σ$ with recoil transversity ``up'' resonates near 750 MeV while the amplitude $|S|^2Σ$ with reco…
The azimuthal correlation between the planes formed by the vectors $(\vec{p}_\ell,\vec{p}_{X_b})$ and $(\vec{p}_\ell,\vec{P}_t)$ in the semileptonic rest frame decay of a polarized top quark $t(\uparrow) \to X_b + l^+ + ν_\ell$ belongs to a class of polarization observables involving the top quark which vanish at the Born term level in the standard model. We determine the next--to--leading order QCD corrections to the afore-mentioned azimuthal correlation and compare the result to the corresponding contribution of a non--standard--model right--chiral quark current.
We present results for the differential distributions of jets from non-leptonic decays of polarized top quarks within the Standard Model, including QCD radiative corrections. Our work extends existing results which are only available for semileptonic top quark decays at the parton level. For $t(\uparrow)$ -> b-jet + 2 light jets we compute in particular the QCD-corrected top-spin analysing power of the b-quark jet and the least energetic light jet. The dependence of the results on the choice of the jet recombination scheme is found to be small. In addition we compute the spin analysing power o…
We calculate the O(alpha_s) radiative corrections to the three spin independent and five spin dependent structure functions that describe the angular decay distribution in the decay of a polarized top quark into a W-boson (followed by the decay W^{+} -> l^{+} + nu_l or by W^{+} -> anti-q + q and a bottom quark. The angular decay distribution is described in cascade fashion, i.e. the decay t(uparrow) -> W^{+} + X_b is analyzed in the top rest system while the subsequent decay W^{+} -> l^{+} + nu_l (or W^{+} -> anti-q + q) is analyzed in the W rest frame. We present our results for the eight O(a…
We compute the supersymmetric QCD corrections to the decay distribution of polarized top quarks for the semileptonic decay mode $t(\uparrow)\to b l^+ν_l$. As a byproduct, we reinvestigate the SUSY-QCD corrections to the total decay width $Γ(t\to W^+b)$ and resolve a discrepancy between two previous results in the literature.
We provide analytical $O(α_s)$ results for the three polarized decay structure functions $H_{++},\,H_{00}$ and $H_{--}$ that describe the decay of a polarized $W$ boson into massive quark--antiquark pairs. As an application we consider the decay $t\to b+W^+$ involving the helicity fractions $ρ_{mm}$ of the $W^+$ boson followed by the polarized decay $\hbox{$W^+(\uparrow)$}\to q_1\bar{q}_2$ described by the polarized decay structure functions $H_{mm}$. We thereby determine the $O(α_s)$ polar angle decay distribution of the cascade decay process $t\to b+W^+(\to q_1\bar{q}_2)$. As a second exampl…
Double polarized forward-backward asymmetries in $B\rightarrow K_{1}(1270,1400)\ell^{+}\ell^{-}$ with $\ell=μ, τ$ decays are studied, using most general non-standard local four-fermi interactions, where the mass eigenstates $K_{1}(1270)$ and $K_{1}(1400)$ are the mixture of $^{1}{P}_{1}$ and $^{3}{P}_{1}$ states with the mixing angle $θ_{K}$. We have calculated the expressions of nine doubly polarized forward-backward asymmetries and it is presented that the polarized lepton pair forward-backward asymmetries are greatly influenced by the new physics. Therefore, these asymmetries are interestin…
It is shown that the Collins mechanism explanation of the transverse single-spin asymmetries in p^{\uparrow} p -> πX leads to a transversely polarized d quark density Delta_T d(x) which violates the Soffer bound when one uses several standard forms for the longitudinally polarized d quark density Delta d(x) obtained from polarized deep inelastic scattering. Imposition of the Soffer bound with these Delta d(x) yields results in hopeless disagreement with the data. Remarkably, imposition of the Soffer bound, but using parametrizations of Delta d(x) that respect the PQCD condition Delta q(x) / q(…
We use momentum correlations as physical observables in $B\to K^{*}l^{+}l^{-}$ decays with $K^{*}$ polarized to study the long distance contributions. We show that these observables are sensitive to the scenarios of the long distance parametrizations. We find that the T-odd observable is directly related to the nonfactorizable effect in the standard model.
The increasing number of flavour anomalies motivates the investigation of new processes where tensions similar to the observed ones may emerge. It is necessary to identify observables sensitive to physics beyond the Standard Model. The analysis which follows concerns the inclusive semileptonic decays of polarized beauty baryons, computed through the Heavy Quark Expansion at $\mathcal{O}(1 / m_b^3)$ and at the leading order in $α_s$. New Physics interactions have been taken into account, extending the Standard Model $b \to U \, \ell \, \barν_\ell$ low-energy Hamiltonian, where $U = \{c, u\}$ an…
We study the T violating effects in the baryonic decays of $Λ_b\toΛl^+l^- (l=e ,μ)$ with polarized $Λ$. We show that the transverse $Λ$ polarizations in these baryonic decays could be as large as 50% in CP violating theories beyond the standard model such as the SUSY models, which can be tested in various future hadron colliders.
The effects of new neutral $Z^\prime$ boson in $B_{s}\toϕ\ell^{+}\ell^{-}$, when $ϕ$ is longitudinal or transverse polarized, are studied. In addition, the implications of $Z^{\prime}$ boson on the unpolarized and polarized $CP$ violation asymmetries, with reference to lepton, are also presented. It is observed that the branching ratio with polarized $ϕ$ are quite sensitive to the $Z^{\prime}$ contributions which are coming through the modification of Wilson coefficients $C^{eff}_{9}$ and $C_{10}$. Moreover, the off-diagonal elements of the chiral $Z^{\prime}$ couplings contain new weak phase …
We study the decay rate and the CP violating asymmetry of the exclusive B-> pi ell+ ell- and B-> rho ell+ ell- decays in the case where one of the final leptons is polarized. We calculate the contributions coming from the individual polarization states in order to identify a so-called wrong sign decay, which is a decay with a given polarization, whose width and CP asymmetry are smaller as compared to the unpolarized one. The results are presented for electron and tau leptons. We observe that in particular decay channels, one can identify a wrong sign decay which is more sensitive to new physic…
We present Monte Carlo simulations of the Sivers effect in the polarized Drell-Yan $pp^\uparrow \to μ^+ μ^- X$ process at the center-of-mass energy $\sqrt{s}=200$ GeV reachable at the Relativistic Heavy-Ion Collider (RHIC) of BNL. We use two different parametrizations for the Sivers function, one deduced from the analysis of Semi-Inclusive Deep-Inelastic Scattering (SIDIS) data at much lower energies, and another one constrained by the RHIC data for the $pp^\uparrow \to πX$ process at the same energy. For a given luminosity of $10^{32}$ cm$^{-2}$ sec$^{-1}$, we explore the necessary conditions…
It is shown that in reaction γγ\to\ell^+\ell^-+ν's at \sqrt{s}>200 GeV with polarized photons, large and well observable differences arise in the distribution of positive and negative charged leptons (\ell=μ^\pm, e^\pm), (charge asymmetry). The modification due to the contribution of the cascade processes with intermediate τ-lepton in γγ\to W^\pm\ell^\mp + ν's reaction is taken into account. This charge asymmetry is potentially sensitive to effects of physics beyond the standard model at the anticipated luminosity of the Photon Collider mode of the future international linear collider.
In this paper we shall focus on the effects of concrete models such as SM and Model III of 2HDM on the polarized and unpolarized forward-backward asymmetries of $\overline{B}\rightarrow \overline{K}_0^{*}(1430) \ell^+\ell^-$ and $\overline{B}\rightarrow \overline{K} \ell^+\ell^-$ decays. The obtained results of these decay modes are compared to each other. Also, we obtain the minimum required number of events for detecting each asymmetry and compare them with the number of produced $B\bar{B}$ pairs at the LHC or supposed to be produced at the Super-LHC. At the end, we conclude that the study o…
We examine the unparticle CP-conserving phase effects on the direct CP asymmetry for both polarized and unpolarized lepton in the inclusive $b\to d \ell^+ \ell^-$ transition, where the flavor changing neutral currents are forbidden at tree level but are induced by one-loop penguin diagrams. The averaged polarized and unpolarized CP asymmetries depict strong dependency on the unparticle parameters. In particular, a sizable discrepancy corresponding to the standard model is achieved when the scale dimension value is $1<d_{\UP}< 2$. We see that the unparticle stuff significantly enhances, suppres…
Charged Higgs bosons $H^\pm$ are predicted by some non-minimal Higgs scenarios, such as models containing Higgs triplets and two-Higgs-doublet models, so that the experimental observation of these bosons would indicate physics beyond the Standard Model. In the present work, we introduce a new channel to indirect search for the charged Higgses through the hadronic decay of polarized top quarks where a top quark decays into a charged Higgs $H^+$ and a bottom-flavored hadron $B$ via the hadronization process of the produced bottom quark, $t(\uparrow)\rightarrow H^++b(\to B+jet)$. To obtain the en…
We study the double-lepton polarization asymmetries and single and double-lepton polarization forward backward asymmetries of the rare b \to s \ell^+ \ell^- mode within the Standard Model and in the Appelquist-Cheng-Dobrescu model, which is a new physics scenario with a single universal extra dimension. In particular, we examine the sensitivity of the observables to the radius R of the compactified extra-dimension, which is the new parameter in this new physics model.
Understanding the origin and mechanism of the transverse polarization of hyperons produced in unpolarized proton-proton collision, $pp\to Λ^\uparrow X$, has been one of the long-standing issues in high-energy spin physics. In the framework of the collinear factorization applicable to large-$p_T$ hadron productions, this phenomenon is a twist-3 observable which is caused by multi-parton correlations either in the initial protons or in the process of fragmentation into the hyperon. We derive the twist-3 gluon fragmentation function (FF) contribution to this process in the leading order (LO) with…
