Surface Tension Prediction for Pure Fluids

In this paper we propose an analytic expression for surface tension of organic compounds. This new expression, originally derived from the statistical-mechanics is shown to represent the experimental surface tension data of 94 different organic compounds within 1.05 AAD%. We also propose another simpler expression. When this generalized expression is used surface tensions for all the 94 compounds can be predicted within 2.57 AAD% for all temperatures investigated.

Vapor-liquid surface tension of strong short-range Yukawa fluid

The thermodynamic properties of strong short-range attractive Yukawa fluids, k=10, 9, 8, and 7, are determined by combining the slab technique with the standard and the replica exchange Monte Carlo (REMC) methods. A good agreement was found among the coexistence curves of these systems calculated by REMC and those previously reported in the literature. However, REMC allows exploring the coexistence at lower temperatures, where dynamics turns glassy. Surface tension of molecular liquids: Lattice gas approach

The approach of global isomorphism between the fluid and the Ising model is applied to obtain an expression for the surface tension of the Lennard-Jones fluid on the basis of the information about the Ising model. This is done in a broad interval of temperatures along the phase coexistence, and is valid both in 2D and 3D. Molecular simulation of the surface tension of real fluids

Molecular models of real fluids are validated by comparing the vapor-liquid surface tension from molecular dynamics (MD) simulation to correlations of experimental data. The considered molecular models consist of up to 28 interaction sites, including Lennard-Jones sites, point charges, dipoles and quadrupoles. Empirical correlation of the surface tension versus the viscosity for saturated normal liquids

Electrostatic interaction between dissimilar colloids at fluid interfaces

The electrostatic interaction between two non-identical, moderately charged colloids situated in close proximity of each other at a fluid interface is studied. Probing the concept of line tension down to the nanoscale

A novel mechanical approach is developed to explore by means of atom-scale simulation the concept of line tension at a solid-liquid-vapor contact line as well as its dependence on temperature, confinement, and solid/fluid interactions.
