We study the magnetoresistance of yttrium iron garnet/Pt heterostructures in which the Pt layer was grown via atomic layer deposition (ALD). Magnetotransport experiments in three orthogonal rotation planes reveal the hallmark features of spin Hall magnetoresistance. We estimate the spin transport parameters by comparing the magnitude of the magnetoresistance in samples with different Pt thicknesses. We compare the spin Hall angle and the spin diffusion length of the ALD Pt layers to the values reported for high-quality sputter-deposited Pt films. The spin diffusion length of 1.5nm agrees well with platinum thin films reported in the literature, whereas the spin Hall magnetoresistance $Δρ/ ρ= 2.2\times 10^{-5}$ is approximately a factor of 20 smaller compared to that of our sputter-deposited films. Our results demonstrate that ALD allows fabricating spin-Hall-active Pt films of suitable quality for use in spin transport structures. This work provides the basis to establish conformal ALD coatings for arbitrary surface geometries with spin-Hall-active metals and could lead to 3D spintronic devices in the future.
We report nanocrystalline carbon impurities coexisting with graphene synthesized via chemical vapor deposition (CVD) on platinum. We observe micron-size island-like impurity layers, which can easily be mistaken for second graphene layers in optical microscopy or secondary electron microscopy (SEM). The island orientation depends on the crystalline orientation of the Pt, as shown by electron backscatter diffraction(EBSD), indicating growth of amorphous carbon below graphene. Dark-field TEM indicates that in addition to uniform single-crystal graphene, our sample is decorated with nanocrystallin…
Electrical and structural characterization of nano-particles are very important steps to determine their potential applications in microelectronics. In this paper, we adress the crystallographic and electric transport properties of soft-chemistry-grown nanometric Pt tribranches. We report that Pt nanostars grown from the reduction of $\text{H}_{2}\text{PtCl}_6$ salt in pure oleylamine present a remarkable crystalline structure and a deeply metallic character despite being grown under mild conditions. We demonstrate that such devices are able to operate at current densities surpassing $200$ MA/…
The occurrence of Spin-Hall Magnetoresistance (SMR) in platinum (Pt) on top of yttrium iron garnet (YIG) has been investigated, for both in-plane and out-of-plane applied magnetic fields and for different Pt thicknesses [3, 4, 8 and 35nm]. Our experiments show that the SMR signal directly depends on the in-plane and out-of-plane magnetization directions of the YIG. This confirms the theoretical description, where the SMR occurs due to the interplay of spin-orbit interaction in the Pt and spin-mixing at the YIG/Pt interface. Additionally, the sensitivity of the SMR and spin pumping signals on t…
We have studied the emission properties of self-organized InAs quantum dots (QDs) grown in an InGaAs quantum well by metalorganic chemical vapor deposition. Low-temperature photoluminescence spectroscopy shows emission from single QDs around 1300 nm; we clearly observe the formation of neutral and charged exciton and biexciton states, and we obtain a biexciton binding energy of 3.1 meV. The dots exhibit an s-p shell splitting of approximately 100 meV, indicating strong confinement.
In this letter we report the observation of ballistic transport on micron length scales in graphene synthesised by chemical vapour deposition (CVD). Transport measurements were done on Hall bar geometries in a liquid He cryostat. Using non-local measurements we show that electrons can be ballistically directed by a magnetic field (transverse magnetic focussing) over length scales of ~μm. Comparison with atomic force microscope measurements suggests a correlation between the absence of wrinkles and the presence of ballistic transport in CVD graphene.
We demonstrate electrical tunnel spin injection from a ferromagnet to graphene through a high-quality Al2O3 grown by atomic layer deposition (ALD). The graphene surface is functionalized with a self-assembled monolayer of 3,4,9,10-perylene tetracarboxylic acid (PTCA) to promote adhesion and growth of Al2O3 with a smooth surface. Using this composite tunnel barrier of ALD-Al2O3 and PTCA, a spin injection signal of 30 ohm has been observed from non-local magnetoresistance measurements at 45 K, revealing potentially high performance of ALD-Al2O3/PTCA tunnel barrier for spin injection into graphen…
Using carbon nanotubes (CNTs) produced by chemical vapor deposition, we have explored different strategies for the preparation of carbon nanotube devices suited for electrical and mechanical measurements. Though the target device is a single small diameter CNT, there is compelling evidence for bundling, both for CNTs grown over structured slits and on rigid supports. Whereas the bundling is substantial in the former case, individual single-wall CNTs (SWNTs) can be found in the latter. Our evidence stems from mechanical and electrical measurements on contacted tubes. Furthermore, we report on t…
Recent success in the growth of monolayer MoS$_2$ via chemical vapor deposition (CVD) has opened up prospects for the implementation of these materials into thin film electronic and optoelectronic devices. Here, we investigate the electronic transport properties of individual crystallites of high quality CVD-grown monolayer MoS$_2$. The devices show low temperature mobilities up to 500 cm$^2$V$^{-1}$s$^{-1}$ and a clear signature of metallic conduction at high doping densities. These characteristics are comparable to the electronic properties of the best mechanically exfoliated monolayers in l…
We report on the observation of strong backscattering of charge carriers in the quantum Hall regime of polycrystalline graphene grown by chemical vapor deposition, which alters the accuracy of the Hall resistance quantization. The temperature and magnetic field dependence of the longitudinal conductivity exhibits unexpectedly smooth power law behaviors, which are incompatible with a description in terms of variable range hopping or thermal activation, but rather suggest the existence of extended or poorly localized states at energies between Landau levels. Such states could be caused by the hi…
Two deep level defects (2.25 and 2.03 eV) associated with oxygen vacancies (V$_o$) were identified in ZnO nanorods (NRs) grown by low cost chemical bath deposition. A transient behaviour in the photoluminescence (PL) intensity of the two V$_o$ states was found to be sensitive to the ambient environment and to NR post-growth treatment. The largest transient was found in samples dried on a hot plate with a PL intensity decay time, in air only, of 23 and 80 s for the 2.25 and 2.03 eV peaks, respectively. Resistance measurements under UV exposure exhibited a transient behaviour in full agreement w…
Replacing GaAs by graphene to realize more practical quantum Hall resistance standards (QHRS), accurate to within $10^{-9}$ in relative value, but operating at lower magnetic fields than 10 T, is an ongoing goal in metrology. To date, the required accuracy has been reported, only few times, in graphene grown on SiC by sublimation of Si, under higher magnetic fields. Here, we report on a device made of graphene grown by chemical vapour deposition on SiC which demonstrates such accuracies of the Hall resistance from 10 T up to 19 T at 1.4 K. This is explained by a quantum Hall effect with low di…
Layered transition metal dichalcogenides display a wide range of attractive physical and chemical properties and are potentially important for various device applications. Here we report the electronic transport and device properties of monolayer molybdenum disulphide (MoS2) grown by chemical vapour deposition (CVD). We show that these devices have the potential to suppress short channel effects and have high critical breakdown electric field. However, our study reveals that the electronic properties of these devices are at present, severely limited by the presence of a significant amount of b…
Ultrathin layers of semiconducting molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) offer significant prospects in future electronic and optoelectronic applications. Although an increasing number of experiments bring light into the electronic transport properties of these crystals, their thermoelectric properties are much less known. In particular, thermoelectricity in chemical vapor deposition grown MoS2, which is more practical for wafer-scale applications, still remains unexplored. Here, for the first time, we investigate these properties in grown single layer MoS2. Micro-fabricated heaters and thermometers are…
We investigate the fabrication of electrical contacts using ion- and electron-beam induced deposition of platinum at the sub-μm scale. Halos associated with the metal surface decoration are characterized electrically in the 0.05-2 μm range using transport measurements, conducting atomic force microscopy and Kelvin probe microscopy. In contrast with IBID, EBID electrodes exhibit weakly conductive halos at the sub-μm scale, and can thus be used to achieve resist-free electrical contacts for transport measurements at the sub-μm scale. Four-point transport measurements using μm-spaced EBID contact…
The technical breakthrough in synthesizing graphene by chemical vapor deposition methods (CVD) has opened up enormous opportunities for large-scale device applications. In order to improve the electrical properties of CVD graphene grown on copper (Cu-CVD graphene), recent efforts have focussed on increasing the grain size of such polycrystalline graphene films to 100 micrometers and larger. While an increase in grain size and hence, a decrease of grain boundary density is expected to greatly enhance the device performance, here we show that the charge mobility and sheet resistance of Cu-CVD gr…
The dependence of the spin pumping efficiency and the spin mixing conductance on the surface processing of yttrium iron garnet (YIG) before the platinum (Pt) deposition has been investigated quantitatively. The ferromagnetic resonance driven spin pumping injects a spin polarized current into the Pt layer, which is transformed into an electromotive force by the inverse spin Hall effect. Our experiments show that the spin pumping effect indeed strongly depends on the YIG/Pt interface condition. We measure an enhancement of the inverse spin Hall voltage and the spin mixing conductance of more tha…
We characterize nanostructures of Bi2Se3 that are grown via metalorganic chemical vapor deposition using the precursors diethyl selenium and trimethyl bismuth. By adjusting growth parameters, we obtain either single-crystalline ribbons up to 10 microns long or thin micron-sized platelets. Four-terminal resistance measurements yield a sample resistivity of 4 mOhm-cm. We observe weak anti-localization and extract a phase coherence length l_phi = 178 nm and spin-orbit length l_so = 93 nm at T = 0.29 K. Our results are consistent with previous measurements on exfoliated samples and samples grown v…
The discovery of graphene, a single layer of covalently bonded carbon atoms, has attracted intense interests. Initial studies using mechanically exfoliated graphene unveiled its remarkable electronic, mechanical and thermal properties. There has been a growing need and rapid development in large-area deposition of graphene film and its applications. Chemical vapour deposition on copper has emerged as one of the most promising methods in obtaining large-scale graphene films with quality comparable to exfoliated graphene. In this chapter, we review the synthesis and characterizations of graphene…
The physical processes occurring in the presence of disorder: point defects, grain boundaries, etc. may have detrimental effects on the electronic properties of graphene. Here we present an approach to reveal the grain structure of graphene by the selective oxidation of defects and subsequent atomic force microscopy analysis. This technique offers a quick and easy alternative to different electron microscopy and diffraction methods and may be used to give quick feedback on the quality of graphene samples grown by chemical vapor deposition.
We synthesize large-area graphene via atmospheric-pressure (AP) chemical vapor deposition (CVD) on copper, and transfer to SiO2 wafers. In contrast to low-pressure (LP) CVD on copper, optical contrast and atomic force microscopy measurements show AP-CVD graphene contains significant multi-layer areas. Raman spectroscopy always shows a single Lorentzian 2D peak, however systematic differences are observed in the 2D peak energy, width, and intensity for single- and multi-layer regions. We conclude that graphene multi-layers grown by AP-CVD on Cu are rotationally disordered.
Graphene nanoribbon (GNR) field-effect transistors (FETs) with widths down to 12 nm have been fabricated by electron beam lithography using a wafer-scale chemical vapor deposition (CVD) process to form the graphene. The GNR FETs show drain-current modulation of approximately 10 at 300 K, increasing to nearly 106 at 4 K. The strong temperature dependence of the minimum current indicates the opening of a bandgap for CVD-grown GNR-FETs. The extracted bandgap is estimated to be around 0.1 eV by differential conductance methods. This work highlights the development of CVD-grown large-area graphene …
A comparative study of the structural, optical and morphological properties of Cu2ZnSnS4 (CZTS) thin films prepared by two different techniques was performed. One consists of sequential evaporation of the elemental metallic precursors under a flux of sulphur supplied by evaporation from an effusion cell (physical vapor deposition-PVD) and the second one is a solution-based chemical route where thin layers of CuS, SnS and ZnS are deposited sequentially by diffusion membrane- assisted chemical bath deposition techniques; the membranes are used to optimize the kinetic growth through a moderate co…
Temperature-dependent resistivity of graphene grown by chemical vapor deposition (CVD) is investigated. We observe in low mobility CVD graphene device a strong insulating behavior at low temperatures and a metallic behavior at high temperatures manifesting a non-monotonic in the temperature dependent resistivity. This feature is strongly affected by carrier density modulation. To understand this anomalous temperature dependence, we introduce thermal activation of charge carriers in electron-hole puddles induced by randomly distributed charged impurities. Observed temperature evolution of resist…
We examine the quantum Hall effect in bilayer graphene grown on Cu substrates by chemical vapor deposition. Spatially resolved Raman spectroscopy suggests a mixture of Bernal (A-B) stacked and rotationally faulted (twisted) domains. Magnetotransport measurements performed on bilayer domains with a wide 2D band reveal quantum Hall states (QHSs) at filling factors $ν=4, 8, 12$ consistent with a Bernal stacked bilayer, while magnetotransport measurements in bilayer domains defined by a narrow 2D band show a superposition of QHSs of two independent monolayers. The analysis of the Shubnikov-de Haas…
2D nanoelectronics based on single-layer MoS2 offers great advantages for both conventional and ubiquitous applications. This paper discusses the large-scale CVD growth of single-layer MoS2 and fabrication of devices and circuits for the first time. Both digital and analog circuits are fabricated to demonstrate its capability for mixed-signal applications.
We report high room-temperature mobility in single layer graphene grown by Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD) after wet transfer on SiO$_2$ and hexagonal boron nitride (hBN) encapsulation. By removing contaminations trapped at the interfaces between single-crystal graphene and hBN, we achieve mobilities up to$\sim70000cm^2 V^{-1} s^{-1}$ at room temperature and$\sim120000cm^2 V^{-1} s^{-1}$ at 9K. These are over twice those of previous wet transferred graphene and comparable to samples prepared by dry transfer. We also investigate the combined approach of thermal annealing and encapsulation in po…
Fe-Si binary compounds have been fabricated by focused electron beam induced deposition by the alternating use of iron pentacarbonyl, Fe(CO)5, and neopentasilane, Si5H12 as precursor gases. The fabrication procedure consisted in preparing multilayer structures which were treated by low-energy electron irradiation and annealing to induce atomic species intermixing. In this way we are able to fabricate FeSi and Fe3Si binary compounds from [Fe=Si]2 and [Fe3=Si]2 multilayers, as shown by transmission electron microscopy investigations. This fabrication procedure is useful to obtain nanostructured …
We study graphene nanoribbon (GNR) interconnects obtained from graphene grown by chemical vapor deposition (CVD). We report low- and high-field electrical measurements over a wide temperature range, from 1.7 to 900 K. Room temperature mobilities range from 100 to 500 cm2/V/s, comparable to GNRs from exfoliated graphene, suggesting that bulk defects or grain boundaries play little role in devices smaller than the CVD graphene crystallite size. At high-field, peak current densities are limited by Joule heating, but a small amount of thermal engineering allows us to reach ~2 x 10^9 A/cm2, the hig…
Chromia (Cr2O3) has been extensively explored for the purpose of developing widespread industrial applications, owing to the convergence of a variety of mechanical, physical and chemical properties in one single oxide material. Various methods have been used for large area synthesis of Cr2O3 films. However, for selective area growth and growth on thermally sensitive materials, laser-assisted chemical vapour deposition (LCVD) can be applied advantageously. Here we report on the growth of single layers of pure Cr2O3 onto sapphire substrates at room temperature by low pressure photolytic LCVD, us…
This work reports the peculiar properties of a graphene film prepared by the chemical vapor deposition (CVD) of ethylene in high vacuum on a well oriented and carefully cleaned Pt(111) crystal surface maintained at high temperature. In-situ and ex-situ characterization techniques (low energy electron diffraction, high resolution electron energy loss spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy and Raman micro-spectroscopy) used here indicate the prevalence of single layer regions and the presence of two different orientations of the graphene sheets with respect to the Pt(111) substrate. In most …
In this work, we present a detailed investigation of the magnetic properties of cobalt nanospheres grown on cantilever tips by Focused Electron Beam Induced Deposition (FEBID). The cantilevers are extremely soft and the cobalt nanospheres are optimized for Magnetic Resonance Force Microscopy (MRFM) experiments, which implies that the cobalt nanospheres must be as small as possible while bearing high saturation magnetization. It is found that the cobalt content and the corresponding saturation magnetization of the nanospheres decrease for nanosphere diameters below 300 nm. Electron holography m…
We have synthesized epitaxial Ba2IrO4 (BIO) thin-films on SrTiO3 (001) substrates by pulsed laser deposition and studied their electronic structure by dc-transport and optical spectroscopic experiments. We have observed that BIO thin-films are insulating but close to the metalinsulator transition boundary with significantly smaller transport and optical gap energies than its sister compound, Sr2IrO4. Moreover, BIO thin-films have both an enhanced electronic bandwidth and electronic-correlation energy. Our results suggest that BIO thin-films have great potential for realizing the interesting ph…
Molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) is a particularly interesting member of the family of two-dimensional (2D) materials due to its semiconducting and tunable electronic properties. Currently, the most reliable method for obtaining high-quality industrial scale amounts of 2D materials is chemical vapor deposition (CVD), which results in polycrystalline samples. As grain boundaries (GBs) are intrinsic defect lines within CVD-grown 2D materials, their atomic structure is of paramount importance. Here, through atomic-scale analysis of micrometer-long GBs, we show that covalently bound boundaries in 2D Mo…
Transverse magneto-thermoelectric effects are studied in permalloy thin films grown on MgO and GaAs substrates and compared to those grown on suspended SiN membranes. The transverse voltage along platinum strips patterned on top of the permalloy films is measured vs. the external magnetic field as a function of angle and temperature gradient. After the identification of the contribution of the planar and anomalous Nernst effects, we find an upper limit for the transverse spin Seebeck effect, which is several orders of magnitude smaller than previously reported.
Chemical vapor deposition (CVD) allows growing transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) over large surface areas on inexpensive substrates. In this work, we correlate the structural quality of CVD grown MoS$_2$ monolayers (MLs) on SiO$_2$/Si wafers studied by high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM) with high optical quality revealed in optical emission and absorption from cryogenic to ambient temperatures. We determine a defect concentration of the order of 10$^{13}$ cm$^{-2}$ for our samples with HRTEM. To have access to the intrinsic optical quality of the MLs, we remove the …
We examine different cases of heterostructures consisting of WS2 monolayers grown by chemical vapor deposition (CVD) as the optically active material. We show that the degree of valley polarization of WS2 is considerably influenced by the material type used to form the heterostructure. Our results suggest the interaction between WS2 and graphene (WS2/Gr) has a strong effect on the temperature dependent depolarization (i.e. decrease of polarization with increasing temperature), with polarization degrees reaching 24% at room temperature under near-resonant excitation. This contrasts to hBN- enca…
We report detection and coherent control of a single proton nuclear spin using an electronic spin of the nitrogen-vacancy (NV) center in diamond as a quantum sensor. In addition to determining the NV-proton hyperfine parameters by employing multipulse sequences, we polarize and coherently rotate the single proton spin, and detect an induced free precession. Observation of free induction decays is an essential ingredient for high resolution proton nuclear magnetic resonance, and the present work extends it to the atomic scale. We also discuss the origin of the proton as incorporation during che…
We have investigated the properties of interfaces between LaAlO3 films grown on SrTiO3 substrates singly terminated by TiO2. We used RF sputtering in a high-pressure oxygen atmosphere. The films are smooth, with flat surfaces. Transmission Electron Microscopy shows atomically sharp and continuous interfaces while EELS measurements show some slight intermixing. The elemental ratio of La to Al measured by EDX is found to be 1.07. Importantly, we find these interfaces to be non-conducting, indicating that the sputtered interface is not electronically reconstructed in the way reported for films gr…
We fabricate an undoped Ge quantum well under 30 nm Ge0.8Si0.2 shallow barrier with reverse grading technology. The under barrier is deposited by Ge0.8Si0.2 followed by Ge0.9Si0.1 so that the variation of Ge content forms a sharp interface which can suppress the threading dislocation density penetrating into undoped Ge quantum well. And the Ge0.8Si0.2 barrier introduces enough in-plane parallel strain -0.41% in the Ge quantum well. The heterostructure field-effect transistors with a shallow buried channel get a high two-dimensional hole gas (2DHG) mobility over 2E6 cm2/Vs at a low percolation …
We demonstrate the operation of low-noise nano superconducting quantum interference devices (SQUIDs) based on the high critical field and high critical temperature superconductor YBa$_2$Cu$_3$O$_7$ (YBCO) as ultra-sensitive magnetometers for single magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs). The nanoSQUIDs exploit the Josephson behavior of YBCO grain boundaries and have been patterned by focused ion beam milling. This allows to precisely define the lateral dimensions of the SQUIDs so as to achieve large magnetic coupling between the nanoloop and individual MNPs. By means of focused electron beam induced de…
We develop an InAs nanowire gate-all-around field-effect transistor using a transparent conductive zinc oxide (ZnO) gate electrode, which is in-situ atomic layer deposited after growth of gate insulator of Al2O3. We perform magneto-transport measurements and find a crossover from weak localization to weak antilocalization effect with increasing gate voltage, which demonstrates that the Rashba spin-orbit coupling is tuned by the gate electrode. The efficiency of the gate tuning of the spin-orbit interaction is higher than those obtained for two-dimensional electron gas, and as high as that for …
The strong interest in graphene has motivated the scalable production of high quality graphene and graphene devices. Since large-scale graphene films synthesized to date are typically polycrystalline, it is important to characterize and control grain boundaries, generally believed to degrade graphene quality. Here we study single-crystal graphene grains synthesized by ambient CVD on polycrystalline Cu, and show how individual boundaries between coalescing grains affect graphene's electronic properties. The graphene grains show no definite epitaxial relationship with the Cu substrate, and can c…
To grow precisely aligned graphene on h-BN without metal catalyst is extremely important, which allows for intriguing physical properties and devices of graphene/h-BN hetero-structure to be studied in a controllable manner. In this report, such hetero-structures were fabricated and investigated by atomic resolution scanning probe microscopy. Moirre patterns are observed and the sensitivity of moirre interferometry proves that the graphene grains can align precisely with the underlying h-BN lattice within an error of less than 0.05 degree. The occurrence of moirre pattern clearly indicates that…
A significant advance toward achieving practical applications of graphene as a two-dimensional material in nanoelectronics would be provided by successful synthesis of both n-type and p-type doped graphene. However reliable doping and a thorough understanding of carrier transport in the presence of charged impurities governed by ionized donors or acceptors in the graphene lattice are still lacking. Here we report experimental realization of few-layer nitrogen-doped (N-doped) graphene sheets by chemical vapor deposition of organic molecule 1, 3, 5-triazine on Cu metal catalyst. By reducing the …
Sol-gel electrophoresis is used to grow PbTiO3 nanotube arrays in porous anodic alumina template channels, because it is a cheap and simple method for the growth of nanostructures and has the advantage of better tube growth control. Moreover, this method can produce nanotubes with high quality and more condense structures. In this technique, semiconductor porous anodic alumina templates are used to grow the nanotube arrays. Consequently, close-packed PbTiO3 nanotube arrays are grown in the template channels. It is shown here that, to the best of our knowledge, sol-gel electrophoresis is the on…
Local effects of multiple electrostatic gates placed beneath carbon nanotubes grown by chemical vapor deposition (CVD) are reported. Single-walled carbon nanotubes were grown by CVD from Fe catalyst islands across thin Mo "finger gates" (150 x 10nm). Prior to tube growth, several finger gates were patterned lithogrpahically and subsequently coated with a patterned high-k dielectric using low-temperature atomic layer deposition. Transport measurements demonstrate that local finger gates have a distinct effect from a global backgate.
Core-shell nanowire heterostructures form the basis for many innovative devices. When compound nanowire shells are grown by directional deposition techniques, the azimuthal position of the sources for the different constituents in the growth reactor, substrate rotation, and nanowire self-shadowing inevitably lead to sequential deposition. Here, we uncover for In$_{0.15}$Ga$_{0.85}$As/GaAs shell quantum wells grown by molecular beam epitaxy a drastic impact of this sequentiality on the luminescence efficiency. The photoluminescence intensity of shell quantum wells grown with a flux sequence cor…
In this article, the results of investigation of processes occurring during the molecular-beam deposition of germanium layers on Si$_3$N$_4$ dielectric substrates within a wide range of the Ge film growth temperatures (30 to 600°C) are presented. The intensity of the IR absorption bands related to the vibrations of the N$-$H and Si$-$N bonds are established to decrease with the increase of the Ge deposition temperature. It appears that this phenomenon cannot be explained only as a thermally activated process. Simultaneously, the peak corresponding to the Ge$-$N vibration bonds emerges in the X…
Solution-based methods represent the most widespread approach used to deposit hybrid organic-inorganic perovskite films for low-cost but efficient solar cells. However, solution-process techniques offer limited control over film morphology and crystallinity, and most importantly do not allow sequential film deposition to produce perovskite-perovskite heterostructures. Here the successful deposition of CH3NH3PbI3 (MAPI) thin films by RF-magnetron sputtering is reported, an industry-tested method to grow large area devices with precisely controlled stoichiometry. MAPI films are grown starting fr…
