The NOvA experiment is a long-baseline neutrino oscillation experiment designed to measure the rates of electron neutrino appearance and muon neutrino disappearance. The NOvA near detector is located at Fermilab, 800 m from the primary target and provides an excellent platform to measure and study neutrino-nucleus interactions. We present the status of the measurement of the double differential cross section with respect to muon kinematics for interactions involving charged pions in the final state, $ν_μ + N \rightarrow μ+ π^{+/-} + X$. We have derived a convolutional neural network-based approach for the identification of neutrino interactions with the specific final state topology. We present event classification efficiency studies using this particle identification and classification methodology, along with systematic uncertainties and prospects for the measurement.

Measurement of Collins asymmetries in inclusive production of pion pairs in e^+e^- collisions at BABAR
Semi-inclusive processes are very promising to investigate $XYZ$ hadrons at the next generation of electron-hadron facilities, because they generally boast higher cross sections. We extend our formalism of exclusive photoproduction to semi-inclusive final states. The inclusive production cross sections for charged axial-vector $Z$ states from pion exchange are predicted. We isolate the contribution of $Δ$ resonances at small missing mass. Production near threshold is shown to be enhanced roughly by a factor of two compared to the exclusive reaction. We benchmark the model with data of semi-inc…
Longitudinal double-spin asymmetry and cross section for inclusive neutral pion production at midrapidity in polarized proton collisions at sqrt(s) = 200 GeV
Over the past 60 years a rich sample of experimental results concerning the inclusive production of $π^-$ mesons has been obtained spanning a range from about 3 GeV to 13 TeV in interaction energy. This paper attempts a model-independent overview of these results with the aim at obtaining an internally consistent data description on a dense grid over the three inclusive variables transverse momentum, rapidity or Feynman $x_F$ and interaction energy. The study concentrates on the non-perturbative sector of the strong interaction by limiting the transverse momenta to $p_T <$ 1.3 GeV/c. The three…
This analysis aims to study inclusive neutrino-induced Neutral Current (NC) interactions that produce at least one neutral pion ($π^0$) in the final state (incNC$π^0$ ) in the T2K off-axis near detector ND280. The motivation for this study is to better understand/eliminate the background to electron neutrino appearance analyzed at the far detector Super-Kamiokande. As $π^0$ decays are background to the appearance search, a good knowledge of both inclusive and exclusive neutrino interaction cross sections are key to improving associated systematic uncertainties in T2K oscillation analyses. Resu…
A set of measurements of azimuthal asymmetries in the production of pairs of identified hadrons in deep-inelastic scattering of muons on transversely polarised $^6$LiD (deuteron) and NH$_3$ (proton) targets is presented. All available data collected in the years 2002-2004 and 2007/2010 with the COMPASS spectrometer using a muon beam of 160 GeV/$c$ at the CERN SPS were analysed. The asymmetries provide access to the transversity distribution functions via a fragmentation function that in principle may be independently obtained from $e^+e^-$ annihilation data. Results are presented, discussed an…
We present a new determination of unpolarised charged pion and kaon fragmentation functions from a set of single-inclusive electron-positron annihilation and lepton-nucleon semi-inclusive deep-inelastic scattering data. The determination includes next-to-next-to-leading order QCD corrections to both processes, and is carried out in a framework that combines a neural-network parametrisation of fragmentation functions with a Monte Carlo representation of their uncertainties. We discuss the quality of the determination, in particular its dependence on higher order corrections.
