We study the mass spectra and radiative decays of doubly heavy baryons within the diquark picture in a relativized quark model. The mass of the $J^P=1/2^+$ $Ξ_{cc}$ ground state is predicted to be 3606 MeV, which is consistent with the mass of $Ξ_{cc}^{++}(3621)$ newly observed by the LHCb collaboration. The predicted mass gap between two $S$ wave states, $Ξ_{cc}^*$ ($J^P=3/2^+$) and $Ξ_{cc}$ ($J^P=1/2^+$), is 69 MeV. Furthermore, the radiative transitions of doubly heavy baryons are also estimated by using the realistic wave functions obtained from relativized quark model. The radiative decay widths of $Ξ_{cc}^{*++} \to Ξ_{cc}^{++}γ$ and $Ξ_{cc}^{*+} \to Ξ_{cc}^+γ$ are predicted to be about 7 and 4 keV, respectively. These predictions of doubly heavy baryons can provide helpful information for future experimental searches.
In the present work, the mass spectra of doubly heavy tetraquarks $T_{QQ^\prime}$ are systematically investigated in a relativized quark model. The four-body systems including the Coulomb potential, confining potential, spin-spin interactions, and relativistic corrections are solved within the variational method. Our results suggest that the $IJ^P=01^+$ $bb \bar u \bar d$ state is 54 MeV below the relevant $\bar B \bar B$ and $\bar B \bar B^*$ thresholds, which indicates that both strong and electromagnetic decays are forbidden, and thus this state can be a stable one. Its large hidden color c…
We present a systematic investigation of the possible molecular states composed of a pair of doubly charmed baryons ($Ξ_{cc}Ξ_{cc}$) or one doubly charmed baryon and one doubly charmed antibaryon $(Ξ_{cc}\barΞ_{cc})$ within the framework of the one-boson-exchange-potential model. For the spin-triplet systems, we take into account the mixing between the ${}^3S_1$ and ${}^3D_1$ channels. For the baryon-baryon system $Ξ_{cc}Ξ_{cc}$ with $(R,I) = (\bar{3}, 1/2)$ and $(\bar{3}, 0)$, where $R$ and $I$ represent the group representation and the isospin of the system, respectively, there exist loosely…
We evaluate exclusive semileptonic decays of ground-state spin-1/2 doubly heavy charmed baryons. The decays are driven by a $c\to s,d$ transition at the quark level. Our form factors are consistent with Heavy Quark Symmetry constraints. The latter are valid in the limit of infinitely heavy quark mass at zero recoil.
Starting from the semirelativistic Hamiltonian for a doubly heavy baryon system ($QQq$) with Coulomb and linear confining scalar potentials, and operating the naive Foldy-Wouthuysen-Tani transformation on two heavy quarks, I construct a formulation how to calculate mass spectra and wave functions of doubly heavy baryons. Based on our formulation, their masses and wave functions are expanded in $1/m_Q$ with a heavy quark mass $m_Q$ and the $λ$ mode lowest-order equation is examined carefully to obtain a complete set of eigenfunctions. I claim that the $ρ$ mode wave function should be given by o…
We study the so-called magic mixing angles for doubly heavy baryons. Defining that a magic mixing angle rotates states with definite $^{2S+1}(l_λ)_J$ to make them heavy-quark symmetric states, we derive the magic mixing angle only in the case $L_ρ=0$ between the heavy quark symmetric states with quantum numbers $\left(J, j_\ell\right)$ and the states with $\left(J, s_q+j_ρ\right)=\left(J, \{^4l_λ/^2l_λ\}\right)$ for a doubly heavy baryon in the standard $ρ-λ$ configuration, where $\vec j_\ell=\vec l_λ+\vec s_q$, $\vec s_ρ=\vec s_{Q1}+\vec s_{Q2}$, and $\vec j_ρ=\vec s_ρ+\vec L_ρ$. We discuss h…
We study the mass spectrum of baryons with two and three charmed quarks. For double charm baryons the spin splitting is found to be smaller than standard quark-model potential predictions. This splitting is not influenced either by the particular form of the confining potential or by the regularization taken for the contact term of the spin-spin potential. We consistently predict the spectra for triply charmed baryons.
We systematically investigate the possible molecular states composed of (1) two spin-$\frac{3}{2}$ doubly charmed baryons, and (2) a pair of spin-$\frac{3}{2}$ and spin-$\frac{1}{2}$ doubly charmed baryons. The one-boson-exchange (OBE) model is used to describe the potential between two baryons. The channel mixing effect is considered for the systems with the same quantum number $(I(J^P))$ but different total spin ($S$) and orbital angular momenta ($L$). We also study the channel mixing effect among the systems composed of various doubly charmed baryons if they have the same quantum number. Ma…
This paper focuses on disagreement between theoretical predictions and experimental results of the production properties of Doubly Charmed Baryons. The kinematic dependencies were used to clarify the discrepancy between the SELEX data and the theory. The production ratio of the $Ξ_{cc}^+$ baryon in the SELEX kinematic region is presented. The recent experimental results are reviewed.

In this work, we adopt the $^3P_0$ model to investigate the strong decays of the low-lying doubly bottom baryons in the $j-j$ coupling scheme systematically. In this scheme, we construct the formulism of $^3P_0$ model under the spectator assumption, and then the heavy diquark symmetry is preserved automatically. Our results show that some of the $λ$-mode $Ξ_{bb}(1P)$ and $Ω_{bb}(1P)$ states are narrow, which have good potentials to be observed by future experiments. For the low-lying $ρ$-mode and $ρ$-$λ$ hybrid states, the Okubo-Zweig-Iizuka-allowed strong decays are highly suppressed and they…
The chiral dynamics of the doubly heavy baryons is solely governed by the light quark. In this work, We have derived the chiral corrections to the mass of the doubly heavy baryons up to N$^3$LO. The mass splitting of $Ξ_{cc}$ and $Ω_{cc}$ at the N$^2$LO depends on one unknown low energy constant $c_7$. With the experimental mass of $Ξ_{cc}(3520)$ as the input, we estimate the mass of $Ω_{cc}$ to be around 3.678 GeV. Moreover, we have also performed a systematical analysis of the chiral corrections to the axial currents and axial charges of the doubly heavy baryons. The chiral structure and ana…
The decays of excited nonstrange baryons into the final states Delta eta and Delta omega are examined in a relativized quark pair creation model. The wavefunctions and parameters of the model are fixed by previous calculations of N pi and N pi pi, etc., decays through various quasi-two body channels including N eta and N omega. Our results show that the combination of thresholds just below the region of interest and the isospin selectivity of these channels should allow the discovery of several new baryons in such experiments.
We consider the role played by hyperfine mixing in electromagnetic and semileptonic decays of doubly heavy baryons, which give rise to large corrections to the decay widths in both cases.
We have systematically investigated the magnetic moments of spin-$\frac{1}{2}$ doubly charmed baryons in the framework of the heavy baryon chiral perturbation theory. In this paper, one loop corrections with intermediate spin-$\frac{1}{2}$ and spin-$\frac{3}{2}$ doubly charmed baryon states are considered. The numerical results are calculated to next-to-leading order: $μ_{Ξ^{++}_{cc}}=0.35μ_{N}$, $μ_{Ξ^{+}_{cc}}=0.62μ_{N}$, $μ_{Ω^{+}_{cc}}=0.41μ_{N}$. Our results may be useful for future experiment and chiral extrapolation of the lattice QCD.
In the heavy quark limit, a doubly heavy baryon is regarded as composed of a heavy diquark and a light quark. We establish the Bethe-Salpeter (BS) equations for the heavy diquarks and the doubly heavy baryons, respectively, to leading order in a $1/m_{Q}$ expansion. The BS equations are solved numerically under the covariant instantaneous approximation with the kernels containing scalar confinement and one-gluon-exchange terms. The masses for the heavy diquarks and the doubly heavy baryons are obtained and the non-leptonic decay widths for the doubly heavy baryons emitting a pseudo-scalar meso…
Invited "News & Views" for the journal, SCIENCE CHINA: Physics, Mechanics & Astronomy, on a recently new search for the doubly charmed baryon $Ξ_{cc}^+$ at the LHC, which is done by the LHCb Collaboration, arXiv:1909.12273.
We investigate the production cross sections, momentum distributions and rapidity distributions for doubly charmed baryons which according to the intrinsic heavy quark mechanism are produced nearly at rest. These events should be measurable at fixed-target experiments like STAR@RHIC and AFTER@LHC.
In this work we study the possible QCD exotic states in the doubly charmed baryon sector. Within chiral effective theory, it is predicted that several excited baryons result from the $S$-wave scattering of ground-state doubly charmed baryons ($Ξ_{cc}^{++}, Ξ_{cc}^{+}, Ω_{cc}^{+}$) and light pseudoscalar mesons ($π, K, η$). The excited doubly charmed baryons can be classified by the strangeness ($S$) and isospin ($I$) quantum numbers. Two of the excited states are clearly exotic, in the sense that they cannot be explained by the conventional baryons with three quarks, since their quantum number…
The spectrum of the doubly heavy baryons is estimated with respect to the new observation from the LHCb collaboration [Aaij:2017ueg] by using the chiral partner structure and heavy quark spin-flavor symmetry. The effects of heavy quark flavor symmetry breaking and light quark flavor symmetry are considered. The mass splitting of doubly heavy baryons with the same spin but opposite parity arises from the generalized Goldberger-Treiman relation. The intermultiplet one-pion transition and intramultiplet radiative transitions are also be estimated.

The magnetic dipole moments of the spin-$\frac{1}{2}$ doubly heavy baryons are extracted in the framework of light-cone QCD sum rule. The electromagnetic properties of the doubly heavy baryons encodes important information of their internal structure. The results for the magnetic dipole moments of doubly heavy baryons acquired in this work are compared with the predictions of the other theoretical approaches.
In this work, we investigate the chiral corrections to the magnetic moments of the spin-$3\over 2$ doubly charmed baryons systematically up to next-to-next-to-leading order with the heavy baryon chiral perturbation theory. The numerical results are given up to next-to-leading order: $μ_{Ξ^{*++}_{cc}}=1.72μ_{N}$, $μ_{Ξ^{*+}_{cc}}=-0.09μ_{N}$, $μ_{Ω^{*+}_{cc}}=0.99μ_{N}$. As a by-product, we have also calculated the magnetic moments of the spin-$3\over 2$ doubly bottom baryons and charmed bottom baryons: $μ_{Ξ^{*0}_{bb}}=0.63μ_{N}$, $μ_{Ξ^{*-}_{bb}}=-0.79μ_{N}$, $μ_{Ω^{*-}_{bb}}=0.12μ_{N}$, $μ_{…
The spectroscopic properties of the doubly heavy spin-$1/2$ baryons $Ξ_{QQ'}$, $Ξ'_{QQ'}$, $Ω_{QQ'}$ and $Ω'_{QQ'}$, with heavy quarks $Q$ and $Q'$ being $b$ or/and $c$, are investigated in cold nuclear matter. In particular, the behavior of the mass of these particles with respect to the density of the medium in the range $ρ\in [0,1.4] ~ρ_{sat}$, with $ρ_{sat}=0.11^3 ~GeV^3$ being the saturation density of nuclear matter, is investigated. From the shifts in the mass and vector self energy of the states under consideration, it is obtained that $Ξ_{QQ'}$ and $Ξ'_{QQ'}$ baryons with two heavy qu…
We present the energy spectra of the low lying doubly-charmed baryons using lattice quantum chromodynamics. We precisely predict the ground state mass of the charmed-strange Omega(cc) (1/2+) baryon to be 3712(11)(12) MeV which could well be the next doubly-charmed baryon to be discovered at the LHCb experiment at CERN. We also predict masses of other doubly-charmed strange baryons with quantum numbers 3/2+, 1/2-, and 3/2-.
We investigate the role of hyperfine mixing in the electromagnetic decay of ground state doubly heavy $bc$ baryons. As in the case of a previous calculation on $b\to c$ semileptonic decays of doubly heavy baryons, we find large corrections to the electromagnetic decay widths due to this mixing. Contrary to the weak case just mentioned, we find here that one can not use electromagnetic width relations obtained in the infinite heavy quark mass limit to experimentally extract information on the admixtures in a model independent way.
The spectrum and dominant strong decay properties of the doubly heavy baryons are revisited by using a chiral effective model with chiral partner structure. By regarding the doubly heavy baryons in the ground states and light angular momentum $j_l = 1/2$ sector of the first orbitally excited states as chiral partners to each other, we estimate the mass splitting of the chiral partners which arises from the spontaneous breaking of chiral symmetry to be about $430$ MeV for baryons including an unflavored light quark and about $350$ MeV for that including a strange quark. We point out that, simil…
We have systematically investigated the spin-$\frac{3}{2}$ to spin-$\frac{1}{2}$ doubly charmed baryon transition magnetic moments to the next-to-next-to-leading order in the heavy baryon chiral perturbation theory (HBChPT). Numerical results of transition magnetic moments and decay widths are presented to the next-to-leading order: $μ_{Ξ_{cc}^{*++}\rightarrowΞ_{cc}^{++}}=-2.35μ_{N}$, $μ_{Ξ_{cc}^{*+}\rightarrowΞ_{cc}^{+}}=1.55μ_{N}$, $μ_{Ω_{cc}^{*+}\rightarrowΩ_{cc}^{+}}=1.54μ_{N}$, $Γ_{Ξ_{cc}^{*++}\rightarrowΞ_{cc}^{++}}=22.0$ keV, $Γ_{Ξ_{cc}^{*+}\rightarrowΞ_{cc}^{+}}=9.57$ keV, $Γ_{Ω_{cc}^{…
We show how heavy quark symmetry constraints on doubly heavy baryon semileptonic decay widths can be used to test the validity of different quark model calculations. The large discrepancies in the results observed between different quark model approaches can be understood in terms of a severe violation of heavy quark spin symmetry constraints by some of those models.
We calculate the weak decay form factors of doubly-heavy baryons using three-point QCD sum rules. The Cutkosky rules are used to derive the double dispersion relations. We include perturbative contributions and condensation contributions up to dimension five, and point out that the perturbative contributions and condensates with lowest dimensions dominate. An estimate of part of gluon-gluon condensates show that it plays a less important role. With these form factors at hand, we present a phenomenological study of semileptonic decays. The future experimental facilities can test these predictio…
Inspired by the recent observation of the $Ξ_{cc}^{++}$ by LHCb collaboration, we explore the "decay constants" of doubly heavy baryons in the framework of QCD sum rules. With the $Ξ_{cc}, Ξ_{bc}, Ξ_{bb}$, and $Ω_{cc}, Ω_{bc}, Ω_{bb}$ baryons interpolated by three-quark operators, we calculate the correlation functions using the operator product expansion and include the contribution from operators up to dimension six. On the hadron side, we consider both contributions from the lowest-lying states with $J^P=1/2^+$ and from negative parity baryons with $J^P=1/2^-$. We find that the results are …
In this study, since the doubly heavy baryons masses are experimentally unknown (except and ), we present the ground state masses and the positive and negative parity excited state masses of doubly heavy baryons. For this purpose, we have solved the six-dimensional hyperradial Schrödinger equation analytically for three particles under the hypercentral potential by using the ansatz approach. In this paper the hypercentral potential is regarded as a combination of the color Coulomb plus linear confining term and the six-dimensional harmonic oscillator potential. We also added the first order co…
The chiral corrections to the magnetic moments of the spin-$\frac{1}{2}$ doubly charmed baryons are systematically investigated up to next-to-next-to-leading order with heavy baryon chiral perturbation theory (HBChPT). The numerical results are calculated up to next-to-leading order: $μ_{Ξ^{++}_{cc}}=-0.25μ_{N}$, $μ_{Ξ^{+}_{cc}}=0.85μ_{N}$, $μ_{Ω^{+}_{cc}}=0.78μ_{N}$. We also calculate the magnetic moments of the other doubly heavy baryons, including the doubly bottomed baryons (bbq) and the doubly heavy baryons containing a light quark, a charm quark and a bottom quark ($\{bc\}q$ and $[bc]q$)…
This paper provides results for the ground state and excited spectra of three-flavored doubly heavy baryons, $bcn$ and $bcs$. We take advantage of the spin-independent interaction recently obtained to reconcile the lattice SU(3) QCD static potential and the results of nonperturbative lattice QCD for the triply heavy baryon spectra. We show that the spin-dependent potential might be constrained on the basis of nonperturbative lattice QCD results for the spin splittings of three-flavored doubly heavy baryons. Our results may also represent a challenge for future lattice QCD work, because a small…
In the heavy-quark limit, the two heavy quarks in a doubly heavy baryon or a doubly heavy tetraquark are bound by their color-Coulomb potential into a compact diquark. The doubly heavy hadrons are related by the approximate heavy-quark--diquark symmetry of QCD to the heavy hadrons obtained by replacing the heavy diquark by a heavy antiquark. Effective field theories can be used to expand the masses of singly heavy hadrons and doubly heavy hadrons in inverse powers of the heavy quark masses. The coefficients in the expansions for doubly heavy tetraquarks can be determined from those for heavy m…
The discovery of doubly heavy baryon provides us with a new platform for precisely testing Standard Model and searching for new physics. As a continuation of our previous works, we investigate the FCNC processes of doubly heavy baryons. Light-front approach is adopted to extract the form factors, in which the two spectator quarks are viewed as a diquark. Results for form factors are then used to predict some phenomenological observables, such as the decay width and the forward-backward asymmetry. We find that most of the branching ratios for $b\to s$ processes are $10^{-8}\sim10^{-7}$ and thos…
Motivated by the recent LHCb observation of doubly-charmed baryon $Ξ_{cc}^{++}$ in the $Λ_c^+ K^-π^+π^+$ final state, we analyze the weak decays of doubly heavy baryons $Ξ_{cc}$, $Ω_{cc}$, $Ξ_{bc}$, $Ω_{bc}$, $Ξ_{bb}$ and $Ω_{bb}$ under the flavor SU(3) symmetry. Decay amplitudes for various semileptonic and nonleptonic decays are parametrized in terms of a few SU(3) irreducible amplitudes. We find a number of relations or sum rules between decay widths and CP asymmetries, which can be examined in future measurements at experimental facilities like LHC, Belle II and CEPC. Moreover once a few d…
As a continuation of our previous works, we investigate the weak decays of doubly heavy baryons into a spin-$3/2$ singly or doubly heavy baryon. Light-front approach is adopted to handle the dynamics in the transitions, in which the two spectator quarks are approximated as a diquark. Results for form factors are then used to calculate decay widths of semi-leptonic and nonleptonic processes. The flavor SU(3) symmetry and symmetry breaking effects in semi-leptonic decays modes are explored, and we point out that in charm sector, there are sizable symmetry breaking effects. For nonleptonic decay …
We examine the decays of nonstrange baryons to the final states $Δπ$, $Nρ$, $Nη$, $Nη^\prime$, $Nω$, $N1/2^+(1440)π$, and $\Delta3/2^+(1600)π$, in a relativized pair-creation($^3P_0$) model which has been developed in a previous study of the $Nπ$ decays of the same baryon states. As it is our goal to provide a guide for the possible discovery of new baryon states at CEBAF and elsewhere, we examine the decays of resonances which have already been seen in the partial-wave analyses, along with those of states which are predicted by the quark model but which remain undiscovered. The level of agree…
The spectroscopy of the doubly heavy baryons including different heavy quarks is studied based on the heavy quark symmetry of QCD. We point out that, when the two heavy quarks are in $S$-wave, these baryons with a certain spin $j_l$ of the light cloud can be classified into two sets: a heavy quark singlet with total spin of $j=j_l$ and a heavy quark multiplet with $j= (j_l+1) , j_l ,\ldots \vert j_l-1\vert$, all the baryons in these two sets have the same mass and, the baryons with the same quantum numbers in these two sets do not mix with each other. We finally point out that the strong decay…
Very recently, the LHCb collaboration has observed in the final state $Λ_c^+ K^-π^+π^+$ a resonant structure that is identified as the doubly-charmed baryon $Ξ_{cc}^{++}$. Inspired by this observation, we investigate the weak decays of doubly heavy baryons $Ξ_{cc}^{++}$, $Ξ_{cc}^{+}$, $Ω_{cc}^{+}$, $Ξ_{bc}^{(\prime)+}$, $Ξ_{bc}^{(\prime)0}$, $Ω_{bc}^{(\prime)0}$, $Ξ_{bb}^{0}$, $Ξ_{bb}^{-}$ and $Ω_{bb}^{-}$ and focus on the decays into spin $1/2$ baryons in this paper. At the quark level these decay processes are induced by the $c\to d/s$ or $b\to u/c$ transitions, and the two spectator quarks …
The theoretical analysis of production, lifetime, and decays of doubly heavy baryons is presented. The lifetime of $Ξ_{cc}^{++}$ baryon recently measured by the LHCb Collaboration is used to estimate the lifetimes of other doubly heavy baryons. The production and the possibility of observation of $Ξ_{bc}$ baryon at LHC are discussed.
The SELEX Collaboration has reported a very large isospin splitting of doubly charmed baryons. We show that this effect would imply that the doubly charmed baryons are very compact. One intriguing possibility is that such baryons have a linear geometry Q-q-Q where the light quark q oscillates between the two heavy quarks Q, analogous to a linear molecule such as carbon dioxide. However, using conventional arguments, the size of a heavy-light hadron is expected to be around 0.5 fm, much larger than the size needed to explain the observed large isospin splitting. Assuming the distance between tw…
For very heavy quarks, the two heavy quarks in a doubly heavy baryon are expected to form a pointlike, heavy diquark in an antitriplet color configuration. In this limit the dynamics of the light degrees of freedom `factorize' from the dynamics of the heavy diquark system, and a superflavor symmetry emerges which relates the properties of doubly heavy baryons to heavy mesons. The charm quark may not be heavy enough for the $cc$ diquark in a $Ξ_{cc}$ to be regarded as pointlike. However, there are indications from the results of a nonrelativistic constituent quark model that many of the consequ…
The mass and the wave function of doubly charmed $Ξ^{++}_{cc}$ (ccu) baryon are evaluated using Green Function Monte Carlo method to solve the three-body problem with Cornell potential. The mass of $Ξ^{++}_{cc}$ with spin $1/2$ is in a good agreement with the LHCb value. Simulation of the wave function by random walks resulted in a configuration of the quark-diquark type. The radius of $Ξ^{++}_{cc}$ is much larger than the size needed for a large isospin splitting. The prediction for the $Ω_{cc}$ mass is presented.
We evaluate exclusive semileptonic decays of ground-state spin-1/2 doubly heavy charmed baryons driven by a $c\to s,d$ transition at the quark level. Our results for the form factors are consistent with heavy quark spin symmetry constraints which are valid in the limit of an infinitely massive charm quark and near zero recoil. Only a few exclusive semileptonic decay channels have been theoretically analyzed before. For those cases we find that our results are in a reasonable agreement with previous calculations.
Mass spectra of baryons consisting of two heavy (b or c) and one light quarks are calculated in the framework of the relativistic quark model. The light quark-heavy diquark structure of the baryon is assumed. Under this assumption the ground and excited states of both the diquark and quark-diquark bound system are considered. The quark-diquark potential is constructed. The light quark is treated completely relativistically, while the expansion in the inverse heavy quark mass is used revealing the close similarity with the mass spectra of B and D mesons. We find that the relativistic treatment …
In this article, we study the ${1\over 2}^+$ doubly heavy baryon states $Ω_{QQ}$ and $Ξ_{QQ}$ by subtracting the contributions from the corresponding ${1\over 2}^-$ doubly heavy baryon states with the QCD sum rules, and make reasonable predictions for their masses. Those doubly heavy baryon states maybe observed at the Tevatron, the LHCb and the PANDA.
We speculate on a possible interpretation of events selected by the SELEX collaboration and stress an insufficient evidence for the observation of doubly charmed baryon.
We analytically calculate the total and differential cross sections for the pair production of doubly heavy baryons in the framework of diquark model. The processes of electron-positron and quark-antiquark annihilations are considered. The fractions of doubly heavy baryons in the yields of heavy quarks are evaluated numerically.
Until now, the first reported doubly charmed baryon $Ξ_{cc}^{+}(3520)$ is still a puzzle. It was discovered and confirmed by SELEX collaboration, but not confirmed by LHCb, BABAR, BELLE, FOCUS, or any other collaboration. In the present paper, by employing Regge phenomenology, we first express the mass of the ground state ($L$=0) doubly charmed baryon $Ω_{cc}^{*+}$ as a function of masses of the well established light baryons and singly charmed baryons. Inserting the recent experimental data, the mass of $Ω_{cc}^{*+}$ is given to be 3809$\pm$36 MeV, which is independent of any unobservable par…
This paper studies the leading chiral corrections to heavy quark-diquark symmetry predictions for doubly heavy baryon semileptonic decay form factors. We derive the coupling between heavy diquarks and weak current in the limit of heavy quark-diquark symmetry, and construct the chiral Lagrangian for doubly heavy baryons coupled to weak current. We evaluate chiral corrections to doubly heavy baryon zero-recoil semileptonic decay for both unquenched and partially quenched QCD. This theory is used to derive chiral extrapolation expressions for measurements of form factors of doubly heavy baryon ze…
The recent discovery by LHCb of the first doubly-charmed baryon $Ξ_{cc}^{++} = ccu$ at $3621.40 \pm 0.78$ MeV implies a large binding energy $\sim 130$ MeV between the two $c$ quarks. This strong binding enables a quark-rearrangement exothermic reaction $\,Λ_c Λ_c \to Ξ_{cc}^{++}\,n\,$ with $Q=12$ MeV, which is a quark-level analogue of deuterium-tritium nuclear fusion reaction $DT\to {}^4{\rm He}\,n$. Due to much larger binding energy between two $b$ quarks $\sim 280$ MeV, the analogous reaction with $b$ quarks, $\,Λ_b Λ_b \to Ξ_{bb}\,N\,$ is expected to have a dramatically larger $Q$-value, …
