The existence of theta function solutions of genus two for the ILW equation is established. A numerical example is also presented. The method basically goes along with the Krichever's construction of theta function solutions for soliton equations, such as the KP equation. This idea leads us to a question whether a Riemann surface exists which allows a peculiar Abelian integral of the third kind. The answer is affirmative at least for genus-two curves.
We discuss a self-dual form or the Bäcklund transformations for the continuous (in time variable) ${\rm gl}_N$ Ruijsenaars-Schneider model. It is based on the first order equations in $N+M$ complex variables which include $N$ positions of particles and $M$ dual variables. The latter satisfy equations of motion of the ${\rm gl}_M$ Ruijsenaars-Schneider model. In the elliptic case it holds $M=N$ while for the rational and trigonometric models $M$ is not necessarily equal to $N$. Our consideration is similar to the previously obtained results for the Calogero-Moser models which are recovered in t…
We present a non-chiral version of the Intermediate Long Wave (ILW) equation that can model nonlinear waves propagating on two opposite edges of a quantum Hall system, taking into account inter-edge interactions. We obtain exact soliton solutions governed by the hyperbolic Calogero-Moser-Sutherland (CMS) model, and we give a Lax pair, a Hirota form, and conservation laws for this new equation. We also present a periodic non-chiral ILW equation, together with its soliton solutions governed by the elliptic CMS model.
Based on integrable Hamiltonian systems related to the derivative Schwarzian Korteweg-de Vries (SKdV) equation, a novel discrete Lax pair for the lattice SKdV (lSKdV) equation is given by two copies of a Darboux transformation which can be used to derive an integrable symplectic correspondence. Resorting to the discrete version of Liouville-Arnold theorem, finite genus solutions to the lSKdV equation are calculated through Riemann surface method.
In order to find higher dimensional integrable models, we study differential equations of hyperelliptic $\wp$ functions up to genus four. For genus two, differential equations of hyperelliptic $\wp$ functions can be written in the Hirota form. If the genus is more than one, we have KdV equation. If the genus is more than two, we have KdV and another KdV equations. If the genus becomes more than three, there appear differential equations which cannot be written in the Hirota form, which means that the Hirota form is not enough to characterize the integrable differential equations. We have shown…
The genus-1 KP-Whitham system is derived for both variants of the Kadomtsev-Petviashvili (KP) equation (namely, the KPI and KPII equations). The basic properties of the KP-Whitham system, including symmetries, exact reductions, and its possible complete integrability, together with the appropriate generalization of the one-dimensional Riemann problem for the Korteweg-deVries equation are discussed. Finally, the KP-Whitham system is used to study the linear stability properties of the genus-1 solutions of the KPI and KPII equations; it is shown that all genus-1 solutions of KPI are linearly uns…
We describe projective structures on a Riemann surface corresponding to monodromy groups which have trivial $SL(2)$ monodromies around singularities and trivial $PSL(2)$ monodromies along homologically non-trivial loops on a Riemann surface. We propose a natural higher genus analog of Stieltjes-Bethe equations. Links with branched projective structures and with Hurwitz spaces with ramifications of even order are established. We find a higher genus analog of the genus zero Yang-Yang function (the function generating accessory parameters) and describe its similarity and difference with Bergman t…
Equations of dispersionless Hirota type have been thoroughly investigated in the mathematical physics and differential geometry literature. It is known that the parameter space of integrable Hirota type equations in 3D is 21-dimensional and the action of the natural equivalence group Sp(6, R) on the parameter space has an open orbit. However the structure of the `master-equation' corresponding to this orbit remained elusive. Here we prove that the master-equation is specified by the vanishing of any genus 3 theta constant with even characteristic. The rich geometry of integrable Hirota type eq…
We consider the Cauchy problem for the focusing nonlinear Schrödinger equation with initial data approaching different plane waves $A_j\mathrm{e}^{\mathrm{i}ϕ_j}\mathrm{e}^{-2\mathrm{i}B_jx}$, $j=1,2$ as $x\to\pm\infty$. The goal is to determine the long-time asymptotics of the solution, according to the value of $ξ=x/t$. The general situation is analyzed in [7] where we develop the Riemann-Hilbert approach and detect different scenarios of asymptotic analysis, depending on the relationships between the parameters $A_1$, $A_2$, $B_1$, and $B_2$. In particular, in the shock case $B_1<B_2$, some…
In the previous study, by using the two-flows Kowalevski top, we have demonstrated that the genus two hyperelliptic functions provide the Sp(4,$\mathbb{R}$)/$Z_2$ $\cong$ SO(3,2) Lie algebra structure. In this study, by directly using the differential equations of the genus two hyperelliptic $\wp$ functions instead of using integrable models, we demonstrate that the half-period addition formula for the genus two hyperelliptic functions provides the order two Sp(4,$\mathbb{R}$) Lie group structure.

In this work we give an explicit solution to the problem of differentiation of hyperelliptic functions in genus $4$ case. It is a genus $4$ analogue of the classical result of F. G. Frobenius and L. Stickelberger [F. G. Frobenius, L. Stickelberger, "Uber die Differentiation der elliptischen Functionen nach den Perioden und Invarianten", J. Reine Angew. Math., 92 (1882), 311-337] in the case of elliptic functions. An explicit solution in the genus $2$ case was given in [V. M. Buchstaber, "Polynomial dynamical systems and Korteweg-de Vries equation", Proc. Steklov Inst. Math., 294 (2016), 176-20…
