We calculate the mass and residue of the newly observed $Ω_c(3000)$ and $Ω_c(3066)$ states with quantum numbers $J^P = \frac{1}{2}^{-}$ and $\frac{3}{2}^{-}$ within QCD sum rules. Our predictions on masses are in good agreement with the experimental results.
Using the most general form of the interpolating current for the octet baryons, the magnetic moments of the negative-parity baryons are calculated within the light-cone sum rules. The contributions coming from diagonal transitions of the positive-parity baryons, and also from non-diagonal transition between positive and negative-parity baryons are eliminated by considering the combinations of different sum rules corresponding to the different Lorentz structures. A comparison of our results on magnetic moments of the negative-parity baryons with the other approaches existing in literature is pr…
Some aspects of two recent papers on parity doubling in the hadronic spectrum and its relation to restoration of linearly realized chiral symmetry are critically discussed.
The magnetic moments of the negative parity, spin-1/2 baryons containing single heavy quark are calculated. The pollution that occur from the transitions between positive and negative parity baryons are removed by constructing the sum rules from different Lorentz structures.
The strong coupling constants of the $π$ and $K$ mesons with negative parity octet baryons are estimated within the light cone QCD sum rules. It is observed that all strong coupling constants, similar to the case for the positive parity baryons, can be described in terms of three invariant functions, where two of them correspond to the well known $F$ and $D$ couplings in the $SU(3)_f$ symmetry, and the third function describes the $SU(3)_f$ symmetry violating effects. We compare our predictions on the strong coupling constants of pseudoscalar mesons of negative parity baryons with those corres…
The strong coupling constants of negative parity heavy baryons belonging to a sextet and antitriplet representations of $SU_f(3)$ with light $π$ and $K$ mesons are estimated within the light cone QCD sum rules. It is observed that each class of the sextet-sextet, sextet-antitriplet, and antitriplet-antitriplet transitions can be described by only one corresponding function. The pollutions arising from the positive to positive, positive to negative, and negative to positive parity baryons transitions are eliminated by constructing sum rules for different Lorentz structures. The obtained couplin…
We analyze the photo-production helicity amplitudes for the positive parity excited baryons in the context of the $1/N_c$ expansion of QCD. The results show that sub-leading corrections in $1/N_c$ are important and that, while 1-body effective operators are dominant, there is some evidence for the need of 2-body effects.
The transition form factors responsible for the radiative $Σ_Q \to Λ_Q γ$ and $Ξ_Q^\prime \to Ξγ$ decays of the negative parity baryons are examined within light cone QCD sum rules. The decay widths of the radiative transitions are calculated using the obtained results of the form factors.
The transition magnetic moments between negative parity, spin-1/2 heavy baryons are studied in framework of the light cone QCD sum rules. By constructing the sum rules for different Lorentz structures, the unwanted contributions coming from negative (positive) to positive (negative) parity transitions are removed. It is found that the magnetic moments between neutral negative parity heavy $Ξ_Q^{\prime 0}$ and $Ξ_Q^0$ baryons are very small. Magnetic moments of the $Σ_Q \to Λ_Q$ and $ Ξ_Q^{\prime \pm} \to Ξ_Q^\pm$ transitions are quite large and can be measured in further experiments.
In the framework of diquark model for production we discuss the yields and observation prospects for excited states of doubly heavy baryons at LHC kinematic conditions.
Experiments with $Ω^{\pm}$ baryons moving in a crystal at LHC in addition to EDM measurement open possibility to study electric quadrupole moment, to observe birefringence effect (spin oscillations and spin dichroism) for $Ω^{\pm}$ baryons and to get information about constants describing P-odd, T-odd effects at $Ω^{\pm}$ baryon interactions with electrons and nuclei
The decays of non-strange positive parity excited baryons via emission of a pseudo-scalar meson are studied in the framework of the 1/Nc expansion to order 1/Nc. In particular, the pionic decays of the l=0 Roper baryons and of the l=2 baryons in the mass interval 1680-1950 MeV are analyzed using the available partial decay widths. Decay widths by emission of an eta meson are shown to be suppressed by a factor 1/Nc^2 with respect to the pionic ones.
We study the evidence for and possible origins of parity doubling among the baryons. First we explore the experimental evidence, finding a significant signal for parity doubling in the non-strange baryons, but little evidence among strange baryons. Next we discuss potential explanations for this phenomenon. Possibilities include suppression of the violation of the flavor singlet axial symmetry ($U(1)_{A}$) of QCD, which is broken by the triangle anomaly and by quark masses. A conventional Wigner-Weyl realization of the $SU(2)_{L}\times SU(2)_{R}$ chiral symmetry would also result in parity dou…
We investigate possibilities for dynamical P-parity violation in dense baryon matter in the framework of effective quark models. Dynamical P-parity violation can appear in models with at least two scalar and two pseudoscalar fields, where both scalar fields are condensed at normal conditions. At special configurations of coupling constants, one of pseudoscalar fields can then also condense at some value of baryon density, the phenomenon results in mixing of the scalar and pseudoscalar physical degrees of freedom, hence, giving rise to P-parity violation. We discuss the implications and possibl…
The strong coupling form factors related to the strong vertices of the positive and negative parity nucleons with the heavy $Λ_{b[c]}[Σ_{b[c]}]$ baryons and heavy $B^*[D^*]$ vector mesons are calculated using a three-point correlation function. Using the values of the form factors at $Q^2=-m^2_{meson}$ we compute the strong coupling constants among the participating particles.
The yield of doubly charmed baryons with excited heavy diquark in $S$ wave and $P$ wave states has been estimated at LHC energies. The observation possibility of such baryons is discussed.
An approach to baryons in the framework of the microscopic Generalized Nambu-Jona-Lasinio chiral potential quark model is considered and quite general arguments are given in favor of effective restoration of chiral symmetry in excited baryons.
We study the photoproduction helicity amplitudes of negative parity baryons in the context of the $1/N_c$ expansion of QCD. A complete analysis to next-to-leading order is carried out. The results show sub-leading effects to be within the magnitude expected from the $1/N_c$ power counting. They also show significant deviations from the quark model, in particular the need for 2-body effects.
Supersymmetric scenarios with R-parity conservation are becoming very constrained due to the lack of missing energy signals, thus motivating those scenarios with R-parity violation. In view of this, we consider a supersymmetric model with R-parity violation and extended by an anomalous horizontal $U(1)_H$ symmetry, where a self-consistent framework with baryon-number violation is achieved along with a proper supression for lepton number violating dimension-5 operators in order to keep a proton decay safe. With the introduction of right-handed neutrinos both Dirac and Majorana masses can be acc…
Diagonal and transition magnetic moments of the negative parity, spin-1/2 heavy baryons are studied in framework of the light cone QCD sum rules. By constructing the sum rules for different Lorentz structures, the unwanted contributions coming from negative (positive) to positive (negative) parity transitions are removed. It is obtained that the magnetic moments of all baryons, except $Λ_b^0$, $Σ_c^+$ and $Ξ_c^{\prime +}$, are quite large. It is also found that the transition magnetic moments between neutral negative parity heavy $Ξ_Q^{\prime 0}$ and $Ξ_Q^0$ baryons are very small. Magnetic mo…
We briefly discuss the large Nc picture for excited baryons, present a new method for the calculation of matrix elements and illustrate it by computing the strong decays of heavy exotic states.
We investigate the possibility of obtaining sizeable R-parity breaking interactions violating baryon number but not lepton number within supersymmetric grand unified theories. Such a possibility allows to ameliorate the naturalness status of supersymmetry while maintaining successful gauge coupling unification, one of its main phenomenological motivations. We show that this can be achieved without fine-tuning or the need of large representations in simple SO(10) models.
We review results for the mass spectrum of orbitally excited baryons obtained in the $1/N_c$ expansion. We show the dependence of various contributions to the mass operator as a function of the excitation energy.
Parity doubling is observed in hadron states around 1.5 GeV - and the estimated energy density is found to be high. When a large excitation energy is available and the pions decouple from the quarks, the QCD interaction is still not perturbative. And signature of such a system can exist in the form of small ratio of the shear viscosity to entropy density. This is true for an equation of state which is applicable to the surface of strange star. We indicate the correspondence of parity doubling with the apparently disconnected model calculation of compactness of some pulsars.
We argue that there should exist the large combined fluctuations of chiral and diquark condensates along the phase boundary of QCD at moderately high density and relatively low temperature. Such fluctuations might lead to anomalous production of nucleons and its parity partner, which we propose to detect at NICA.
The magnetic moments of the low lying, negative parity, spin-3/2 baryons are calculated within the light cone QCD sum rules method. The contributions coming from the positive parity, spin-3/2 baryons, as well as from the positive and negative parity spin-1/2 baryons are eliminated by constructing combinations of various invariant amplitudes corresponding to the coefficients of the different Lorentz structures.
We show that in an SU(3)_c\times [SU(2)_L\times U(1)_Y]\times [SU(2)'_R\times U(1)'_Y] framework, the parity symmetry motivated by solving the strong CP problem without resorting to an axion can predict a dark matter particle with a mass around 302 GeV. This dark matter candidate can be directly detected in the presence of a U(1)_Y\times U(1)'_Y kinetic mixing. Furthermore, our model can accommodate a natural way to simultaneously realize an inverse-linear seesaw for neutrino masses and a resonant leptogenesis for baryon asymmetry.
The masses of experimentally known highly excited baryons of negative parity supposed to belong to the $[{\bf 70},\ell^-]$ multiplets ($\ell$ = 1,2,3) of the $N = 3$ band are calculated in the $1/N_c$ expansion method to order $1/N_c$ by using a procedure which allows to considerably reduce the number of linearly independent operators entering the mass formula. The numerical fits to present data show that the coefficients encoding the QCD dynamics have large, comparable values, for the flavor and spin operators. It implies that these operators contribute dominantly to the flavor-spin SU(6) sym…
We argue that three-quark excited states naturally group into quartets, split into two parity doublets, and that the mass splittings between these parity partners decrease higher up in the baryon spectrum. This decreasing mass difference can be used to probe the running quark mass in the mid-infrared power-law regime. A measurement of masses of high-partial wave Delta* resonances should be sufficient to unambiguously establish the approximate degeneracy. We test this concept with the first computation of excited high-j baryon masses in a chirally invariant quark model.
In a bent crystal the $P$-odd effect of short-lived baryon spin rotation could imitate spin rotation caused by assumed EDM. Use of different behavior of $P$-odd and $T$-odd spin rotations at crystal turning around the direction of particle momentum makes it possible to exclude $P$-odd rotation contribution, when measuring short-lived baryons EDM. Subtraction of the measurement results for angle ranges $φ$ and $φ+ π$ from each other enables measuring $T$-odd rotation at scattering of negatively charged beauty and neutral baryons by axes of unbent crystal.
Magnetic moments of $S_{11}(1535)$ and $S_{11}(1650)$ baryons are studied in the framework of the relativistic three-quark Hamiltonian derived in the Field Correlation Method. The baryon magnetic moments are expressed via the average current quark energies which are defined by the fundamental QCD parameters: the string tension $σ$, the quark masses, and the strong coupling constant $α_s$. For the $J^P=1/2^+$ baryon octet the approach was shown to give a good first approximation to the experimental moments. Resulting magnetic moments for the $J^P=1/2^-$ nucleons are compared both to model calcu…
The relativistic three-quark equations of the ${\bf (70,1^-)}$ baryons are found in the framework of the dispersion relation technique. The approximate solutions of these equations using the method based on the extraction of leading singularities of the amplitude are obtained. The calculated mass values of the ${\bf (70,1^-)}$ multiplet are in good agreement with the experimental ones.
We apply the method of the QCD sum rule, in which positive- and negative-parity baryons couple with each other, to the flavor-octet hyperons and investigate the parity splittings. We also reexamine the nucleon in the method, which was studied in our previous paper, by carefully choosing the Borel weight. Both in the nucleon and hyperon channels the obtained sum rules turn out to have a very good Borel stability and also have a Borel window, an energy region in which the OPE converges and the pole contribution dominates over the continuum contribution. The predicted masses of the positive- and …
Light cone QCD sum rules for the electromagnetic transition form factors among positive and negative parity octet baryons are derived. The unwanted contributions of the diagonal transitions among positive parity octet baryons are eliminated by combining the sum rules derived from different Lorentz structures. The $Q^2$ dependence for the transversal and longitudinal helicity amplitudes are studied.
We study baryon resonances with heavy flavor in a molecular approach, thus as dynamically generated by baryon-meson scattering. This is accomplished by using a unitary coupled-channel model taking, as bare interaction, the extension of the Weinberg-Tomozawa SU(3) Lagrangian. A special attention is payed to the inclusion of heavy-quark spin symmetry and to the study of the generated baryon resonances that complete the heavy-quark spin multiplets. Our model reproduces the Λ_b(5912) and Λ_b(5920) baryons, which were recently observed by the LHCb collaboration. According to our analysis, these two…
We review a recently proposed approach to study the lowest negative parity baryons within the $1/N_c$ expansion. The method is based on the derivation of the matrix elements of SU(2N$_f$) generators for mixed symmetric $[N_c-1,1]$ flavor-spin states. Presently it is applied to the N = 1 band and a comparison is made with a former method based on the decoupling of the system into a symmetric core of $N_c-1$ quarks and an excited one. We prove that the decoupling is not necessary and moreover, it misses some important physical consequences.
