Our experiment adapts several popular deep learning methods as well as some traditional methods on the problem of video emotion recognition. In our experiment, we use the CNN-LSTM architecture for visual information extraction and classification and utilize traditional methods such as for audio feature classification. For multimodal fusion, we use the traditional Support Vector Machine. Our experiment yields a good result on the AFEW 6.0 Dataset.
To fully understand the complexities of human emotion, the integration of multiple physical features from different modalities can be advantageous. Considering this, we present an analysis of 3D facial data, action units, and physiological data as it relates to their impact on emotion recognition. We analyze each modality independently, as well as the fusion of each for recognizing human emotion. This analysis includes which features are most important for specific emotions (e.g. happy). In this paper we describe a solution to our entry for the emotion recognition challenge EmotiW 2017. We propose an ensemble of several models, which capture spatial and audio features from videos. Spatial features are captured by convolutional neural networks, pretrained on large face recognition datasets. We show that usage of strong industry-level face recognition networks increases the accuracy of emotion recognition. This paper presents a new method for dynamic texture recognition based on spatiotemporal Gabor filters. Dynamic textures have emerged as a new field of investigation that extends the concept of self-similarity of texture image to the spatiotemporal domain. Despite the recent developments in spatiotemporal local features for action recognition in video sequences, local color information has so far been ignored. However, color has been proved an important element to the success of automated recognition of objects and scenes. In this paper we extend the space-time interest point descriptor STIP to take into account the color information on the features' neighborhood. In this paper, we describe an entry to the third Emotion Recognition in the Wild Challenge, EmotiW2015. We detail the associated experiments and show that, through more accurately locating the facial landmarks, and considering only the distances between them, we can achieve a surprising level of performance. The resulting system is not only more accurate than the challenge baseline, but also much simpler.

The goal of the present study is to explore the application of deep convolutional network features to emotion recognition. Results indicate that they perform similarly to other published models at a best recognition rate of 94.4%, and do so with a single still image rather than a video stream. An implementation of an affective feedback game is also described, where a classifier using these features tracks the facial expressions of a player in real-time.
The continuous dimensional emotion modelled by arousal and valence can depict complex changes of emotions. In this paper, we present our works on arousal and valence predictions for One-Minute-Gradual (OMG) Emotion Challenge. Despite much progress in the field of facial expression recognition, little attention has been paid to the recognition of peak emotion. Aviezer et al. [1] showed that humans have trouble discerning between positive and negative peak emotions. In this work we analyze how deep learning fares on this challenge. We find that (i) despite using very small datasets, features extracted from deep learning models can achieve results significantly better than humans. (ii) We find that deep learning models, even when trained only on datasets tagged by humans, still outperform humans in this task.
