We determine the boundedness and compactness of a large class of operators, mapping from general Banach spaces of holomorphic functions into a particular type of spaces of functions determined by the growth of the functions, or the growth of the functions derivatives. The results show that the boundedness and compactness of such intrinsic operators depends only on the behaviour on the point evaluation functionals. They also generalize previous similar results about several specific classes of operators, such as the multiplication, composition and integral operators.
Countable projective limits of countable inductive limits, called PLB-spaces, of weighted Banach spaces of continuous functions have recently been investigated by Agethen, Bierstedt and Bonet. In a previous article, the author extended their investigation to the case of holomorphic functions and characterized when spaces over the unit disc w.r.t. weights whose decay, roughly speaking, is neither faster nor slower than that of a polynomial are ultrabornological or barrelled. In this note, we prove a similar characterization for the case of weights which tend to zero logarithmically.
We apply the methods developed in [Br1] to study holomorphic functions of slow growth on coverings of pseudoconvex domains in Stein manifolds. In particular, we extend and strengthen certain results of Gromov, Henkin and Shubin [GHS] on holomorphic L^{2} functions on coverings of pseudoconvex manifolds in the case of coverings of Stein manifolds.
The numerical range of holomorphic mappings arises in many aspects of nonlinear analysis, finite and infinite dimensional holomorphy, and complex dynamical systems. In particular, this notion plays a crucial role in establishing exponential and product formulas for semigroups of holomorphic mappings, the study of flow invariance and range conditions, geometric function theory in finite and infinite dimensional Banach spaces, and in the study of complete and semi-complete vector fields and their applications to starlike and spirallike mappings, and to Bloch (univalence) radii for locally biholo…
A theorem of Godefroy and Shapiro states that non-trivial convolution operators on the space of entire functions on $\mathbb{C}^n$ are hypercyclic. Moreover, it was shown by Bonilla and Grosse-Erdmann that they have frequently hypercyclic functions of exponential growth. On the other hand, in the infinite dimensional setting, the Godefroy-Shapiro theorem has been extended to several spaces of entire functions defined on Banach spaces. We prove that on all these spaces, non-trivial convolution operators are strongly mixing with respect to a gaussian probability measure of full support. For the …
In this paper we study spaces of holomorphic functions on the right half-plane $\cal R$, that we denote by $\cal M^p_ω$, whose growth conditions are given in terms of a translation invariant measure $ω$ on the closed half-plane $\overline\cal R$. Such a measure has the form $ω=ν\otimes m$, where $m$ is the Lebesgue measure on $\mathbb R$ and $ν$ is a regular Borel measure on $[0,+\infty)$. We call these spaces generalized Hardy-Bergman spaces on the half-plane $\cal R$. We study in particular the case of $ν$ purely atomic, with point masses on an arithmetic progression on $[0,+\infty)$. We obt…
We show that holomorphic functions of polynomial growth on domains with corners have distributional boundary values in an appropriate sense, provided the corners are generic CR manifolds. We prove an analog of the Bochner-Hartogs theorem for these boundary values for the simplest such domains, the product domains.
We study some fundamental properties of semicocycles over semigroups of self-mappings of a domain in a Banach space. We prove that any semicocycle over a jointly continuous semigroup is itself jointly continuous. For semicocycles over semigroups which have generator, we establish a sufficient condition for differentiablity with respect to the time variable, and hence for the semicocycle to satisfy a linear evolution problem, giving rise to the notion of `generator' of a semicocycle. Bounds on the growth of a semicocycle with respect to the time variable are given in terms of this generator. Sp…
We consider a space of infinitely smooth functions on an unbounded closed convex set in ${\mathbb R}^n$. It is shown that each function of this space can be extended to an entire function in ${\mathbb C}^n$ satisfying some prescribed growth condition. Description of linear continuous functionals on this space in terms of their Fourier-Laplace transform is obtained. Also a variant of the Paley-Wiener-Schwartz theorem for tempered distributions is given it the paper.
In this article, we study the multi-dimensional Bohr radii of holomorphic functions defined on the Banach sequence spaces with values in the Banach spaces. For the case of finite dimensional Banach spaces, we exhibit the exact asymptotic growth of the Bohr radius. To achieve our goal in the finite case, we use $\ell_{p'}$-summability of certain coefficients of a given polynomial in terms of its uniform norm on $\ell_p^n$. The infinite case is handled using the techniques developed in recent years from the work of Defant, Maestre and Schwarting. We crucially use several properties of the symmet…
We introduce and study some new spaces of holomorphic functions on the right half-plane. In a previous work, S. Krantz, C. Stoppato and the first named author formulated the M"untz--Sz'asz problem for the Bergman space, that is, the problem to characterize the sets of complex powers that form a complete set the unweighted Bergman space of a disc. In this paper, we construct a space of holomorphic functions on the right half-plane, whose sets of uniqueness correspond exactly to the sets of powers that are a complete set in Bergman space. We show that this space is a reproducing kernel Hilbert s…
We consider operators arising from regular Dirichlet forms with vanishing killing term. We give bounds for the bottom of the (essential) spectrum in terms of exponential volume growth with respect to an intrinsic metric. As special cases we discuss operators on graphs. When the volume growth is measured in the natural graph distance (which is not an intrinsic metric) we discuss the threshold for positivity of the bottom of the spectrum and finiteness of the bottom of the essential spectrum of the (unbounded) graph Laplacian. This threshold is shown to lie at cubic polynomial growth.
A particular consequence of the famous Carleson-Hunt theorem is that the Taylor series expansions of bounded holomorphic functions on the open unit disk converge almost everywhere on the boundary, whereas on single points the convergence may fail. In contrast, Bayart, Konyagin, and Queffélec constructed an example of an ordinary Dirichlet series $\sum a_n n^{-s}$, which on the open right half-plane $[Re >0]$ converges pointwise to a bounded, holomorphic function -- but diverges at each point of the imaginary line, although its limit function extends continuously to the closed right half plane.…
In this paper we will develop a systematic method to answer the questions $(Q1)(Q2)(Q3)(Q4)$ (stated in Section 1) with complete generality. As a result, we can solve the difficulties $(D1)(D2)$ (discussed in Section 1) without uncertainty. For these purposes we will introduce certain classes of growth functions $u$ and apply the Legendre transform to obtain a sequence which leads to the weight sequence $\{\a(n)\}$ first studied by Cochran et al. \cite{cks}. The notion of (nearly) equivalent functions, (nearly) equivalent sequences and dual Legendre functions will be defined in a very natural …
For pairs of holomorphic maps $(u,ψ)$ on the complex plane, we study some dynamical properties of the weighted composition operator $W_{(u,ψ)}$ on the Fock spaces. We prove that no weighted composition operator on the Fock spaces is supercyclic. Conditions under which the operators satisfy the Ritt's resolvent growth condition are also identified. In particular, we show that a non-trivial composition operator on the Fock spaces satisfies such a growth condition if and only if it is compact.
We study function spaces consisting of analytic functions with fast decay on horizontal strips of the complex plane with respect to a given weight function. Their duals, so called spaces of (ultra)hyperfunctions of fast growth, generalize the spaces of Fourier hyperfunctions and Fourier ultrahyperfunctions. An analytic representation theory for their duals is developed and applied to characterize the non-triviality of these function spaces in terms of the growth order of the weight function. In particular, we show that the Gelfand-Shilov spaces of Beurling type $\mathcal{S}^{(p!)}_{(M_p)}$ and…
