Spin-orbit-related effects offer a highly promising route for reading and writing information in magnetic units of future devices. These phenomena rely not only on the static magnetization orientation but also on its dynamics to achieve fast switchings that can reach the THz range. In this work, we consider Co/Pt and Fe/W bilayers to show that accounting for the phase difference between different processes is crucial to the correct description of the dynamical currents. By tuning each system towards its ferromagnetic resonance, we reveal that dynamical spin Hall angles can non-trivially change sign and be boosted by over 500%, reaching giant values. We demonstrate that charge and spin pumping mechanisms can greatly magnify or dwindle the currents flowing through the system, influencing all kinds of magnetoresistive and Hall effects, thus impacting also dc and second harmonic experimental measurements.
The Zener-Klein (ZK) interband tunneling in graphene layers (GLs) with the lateral n-i-n and p-i-n junctions results in the nonlinear I-V characteristics that can be used for the rectification and detection of the terahertz (THz) signals. The transit time delay of the tunneling electrons and holes in the depletion regions leads to the phase shift between the THz current and THz voltage causing the negative dynamic conductance in a certain frequency range and resulting in the so-called transit-time (TT) instability. The combination of the ZK tunneling and the TT negative dynamic conductance ena…
We report on experimental studies of terahertz (THz) radiation transmission through grating-gate graphene-channel transistor nanostructures and demonstrate room temperature THz radiation amplification stimulated by current-driven plasmon excitations. Specifically, with increase of the direct current (dc) under periodic charge density modulation, we observe a strong red shift of the resonant THz plasmon absorption, its complete bleaching, followed by the amplification and blue shift of the resonant plasmon frequency. Our results are, to the best of our knowledge, the first experimental observat…
Anisotropic magnetoresistance (AMR) is a ubiquitous and versatile probe of magnetic order in contemporary spintronics research. Its origins are usually ascribed to extrinsic effects (i.e. spin-dependent electron scattering), whereas intrinsic (i.e. scattering-independent) contributions are neglected. Here, we measure AMR of polycrystalline thin films of the standard ferromagnets Co, Ni, Ni81Fe19 and Ni50Fe50 over the frequency range from DC to 28 THz. The large bandwidth covers the regimes of both diffusive and ballistic intraband electron transport and, thus, allows us to separate extrinsic a…

Controlling the dynamics of mechanical resonators is central to many quantum science and metrology applications. Optomechanical control of diamond resonators is attractive owing to diamond's excellent physical properties and its ability to host electronic spins that can be coherently coupled to mechanical motion. Using a confocal microscope, we demonstrate tunable amplification and damping of a diamond nanomechanical resonator's motion. Observation of both normal mode cooling from room temperature to 80K, and amplification into self--oscillations with $60\,μ\text{W}$ of optical power is observ…
We evaluate the influence of the Coulomb drag of the electrons and holes in the gated n- and p-regions by the ballistic electrons and holes generated in the depleted i-region due to the interband tunneling on the current-voltage characteristics and impedance of the p+-p-i-n-n+ graphene tunneling transistor structures (GTTSs). The drag leads to a current amplification in the gated n- and p-regions and a positive feedback between the amplified dragged current and the injected tunneling current. A sufficiently strong drag can result in the negative real part of the GTTS impedance enabling the pla…
