We present a method for studying the detection of jets in high energy hadronic collisions using multiplicity detector in forward rapidities. Such a study enhances the physics scope of multiplicity detectors at forward rapidities in LHC. At LHC energies the jets may be produced with significant cross section in forward rapidities. A multi resolution wavelet analysis technique can locate the spatial position of jets due to its feature of space-scale locality. The discrete wavelet proves to be very effective in probing physics simultaneously at different locations in phase space and at different scales to identify jet-like events. The key feature this analysis exploits is the difference in particle density in localized regions of the detector due to jet-like and underlying events. We find that this method has a significant sensitivity towards detecting jet position and its size. The jets can be found with the efficiency and purity of the order of 46%.
Measurements of jet production and jet properties in pp collisions provide a test of perturbative quantum chromodynamics (pQCD) and form a baseline for similar measurements in heavy ion (A--A) collisions. In this contribution, we report recent ALICE measurements of charged-particle jet production and intra-jet properties, including mean charged-constituent multiplicity and fragmentation distribution for leading jets, in minimum bias pp collisions at $\sqrt{s} = 13\,$TeV. In addition, the event multiplicity dependence of jet production and jet properties in pp collisions at $\sqrt{s} = 13\,$TeV…
The ALICE Collaboration reports a search for jet quenching effects in pp collisions at $\sqrt{\mathrm{s}}$=13 TeV, in events selected on high multiplicity compared to the minimum bias population. The measurement is based on the semi-inclusive acoplanarity distribution of jets recoiling from a high-$p_\mathrm{T}$ trigger hadron. Significant broadening of the recoil jet acoplanarity distribution is observed in high multiplicity pp collisions, in both data and in simulations based on the PYTHIA model. Analysis is ongoing to elucidate the origin of this effect.
The multiplicity dependence of jet production in pp collisions at the centre-of-mass energy of $\sqrt{s} = 13\ \mathrm{TeV}$ is studied for the first time. Jets are reconstructed from charged particles using the anti-$k_\mathrm{T}$ algorithm with resolution parameters $R$ varying from $0.2$ to $0.7$. The jets are measured in the pseudorapidity range $|η_{\rm jet}|< 0.9-R$ and in the transverse momentum range $5<p_\mathrm{T,jet}^{\rm ch}<140\ \mathrm{GeV}/c$. The multiplicity intervals are categorised by the ALICE forward detector V0. The $p_{\mathrm{T}}$ differential cross section of charged-p…
Jets are produced by processes involving high momentum transfer of initial partons at high energies. Comparing jet production in pp and nucleus-nucleus collisions will allow us to study the jet-quenching effect caused by the hot and dense QCD medium produced in nucleus-nucleus collisions when energetic partons traverse the medium. In particular, systematic studies of jet production in different multiplicity environments will provide in-depth understanding of the medium properties and their evolution from small to large systems. In small systems and high multiplicity events, the bulk properties…
Multiplicity and event-scale dependent flow and jet fragmentation in pp collisions at $\sqrt{s}$ = 13 TeV and in p$-$Pb collisions at $\sqrt{s_\mathrm{NN}}$ = 5.02 TeV
Although many observations in high multiplicity p+Pb collisions at the LHC indicate striking similarity to heavy ion collisions, no evidence of jet-medium interactions has been observed till date. We study the effect of jet-medium interaction on the charge dependent three-particle correlation in high multiplicity p+Pb collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN} }$ = 5.02 TeV using EPOS 3 event generator. The short range component of the three-particle correlation is dominated by the jet fragmentation and has a unique charge dependence as observed in the minimum bias p+Au collisions at the RHIC energy. In EPOS…
Measurement of the $t\bar{t}$ production cross-section as a function of jet multiplicity and jet transverse momentum in 7 TeV proton-proton collisions with the ATLAS detector
A search is presented for new phenomena in events characterised by high jet multiplicity, no leptons (electrons or muons), and four or more jets originating from the fragmentation of $b$-quarks ($b$-jets). The search uses 139 fb$^{-1}$ of $\sqrt{s}$ = 13 TeV proton-proton collision data collected by the ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider during Run 2. The dominant Standard Model background originates from multijet production and is estimated using a data-driven technique based on an extrapolation from events with low $b$-jet multiplicity to the high $b$-jet multiplicities used in th…
The aim of this study is to set a baseline for the jet quenching measurements of the Quark Gluon Plasma (QGP) formed in the large system size Nucleus-Nucleus (A-A) at top central collisions, via studying simulated small system size, Nucleon-Nucleon (N-N) collisions. The proton-proton (p-p) collisions were simulated using PYTHIA, at center of mass energies $\sqrt{s_{_{NN}}} = 200$ $GeV$ and $\sqrt{s_{_{NN}}} = 13$ $TeV$ corresponding to the available energies at the current collider experiments; the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC), and the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). At both energies, t…

Two-particle correlations in high-energy collision experiments enable the extraction of particle source radii by using the Bose-Einstein enhancement of pion production at low relative momentum $q\propto 1/R$. It was previously observed that in $\rm{p}\rm{p}$ collisions at $\sqrt{s}=7$ TeV the average pair transverse momentum $k_{\rm T}$ range of such analyses is limited due to large background correlations which were attributed to mini-jet phenomena. To investigate this further, an event-shape dependent analysis of Bose-Einstein correlations for pion pairs is performed in this work. By categor…
In this report a new software module for the reconstruction of the moments of multiplicity distributions of identified particles, the TIdentity module, is presented. The module exploits the Identity Method, which allows to circumvent the issues of incomplete particle identifications caused by unavoidable overlapping particle identification signals. After demonstrating the performance of the module in a number of simulations, we provide a user's guide with a detailed description of its functionality. The module can be used in high energy nuclear interactions aiming at the determination of the m…
In order to have a better understanding of the matter formed in ultra-relativistic collisions, we estimate the jet transport coefficient, $\hat q$, within the Color Sting Percolation Model (CSPM) for various multiplicity classes in proton-proton collisions and centrality classes in nucleus-nucleus collisions at the Large Hadron Collider energies. We study $\hat q$ as a function of final state charged-particle multiplicity and initial percolation temperature. Finally, we compare our obtained results with those calculated from the JET collaboration.
High-multiplicity pp collisions at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) energies have created special importance in view of the Underlying Event (UE) observables. The recent results of LHC, such as long range angular correlation, flow-like patterns, strangeness enhancement etc. in high multiplicity events are not yet completely understood. In the same direction, the understanding of multiplicity dependence of J/$ψ$ production is highly necessary. Transverse spherocity, which is an event shape variable, helps to investigate the particle production by isolating the hard and the soft components. In th…
