In this paper, we define and discuss higher-dimensional and absolute versions of symmetric, Frobenius, and quasi-Frobenius algebras. In particular, we compare these with the relative notions defined by Scheja and Storch. We also prove the validity of codimension two-argument for modules over a coherent sheaf of algebras with a $2$-canonical module, generalizing a result of the author.
We investigate functors between abelian categories having a left adjoint and a right adjoint that are \emph{similar} (these functors are called \emph{quasi-Frobenius functors}). We introduce the notion of a \emph{quasi-Frobenius bimodule} and give a characterization of these bimodules in terms of quasi-Frobenius functors. Some applications to corings and graded rings are presented. In particular, the concept of quasi-Frobenius homomorphism of corings is introduced. Finally, a version of the endomorphism ring Theorem for quasi-Frobenius extensions in terms of corings is obtained.
We compare several quasi-Frobenius-type properties for corings that appeared recently in literature and provide several new characterizations for each of these properties. By applying the theory of Galois comodules with a firm coinvariant ring, we can characterize a locally quasi-Frobenius (quasi-co-Frobenius) coring as a locally projective generator in its category of comodules.
We define quasi-Frobenius semigroups and find necessary and sufficient conditions under which a semigroup algebra of a 0-cancellative semigroup is quasi-Frobenius.
The classes of FP-injective and weakly quasi-Frobenius rings are investigated. The properties for both classes of rings are closely linked with embedding of finitely presented modules in fp-flat and free modules respectively. Using these properties, we describe the classes of coherent CF and FGF-rings. Moreover, it is proved that the group ring R(G) is FP-injective (resp. weakly quasi-Frobenius) if and only if the ring R is FP-injective (resp. weakly quasi-Frobenius) and the group G is locally finite.
We extend to the co-Frobenius case a result of Drinfeld and Radford related to the fourth power of the antipode of a finite dimensional (co)quasitriangular Hopf algebra.
We study quasi-Hopf algebras and their subobjects over certain commutative rings from the point of view of Frobenius algebras. We introduce a type of Radford formula involving an anti-automorphism and the Nakayama automorphism of a Frobenius algebra, then view several results in quantum algebras from this vantage-point. In addition, separability and strong separability of quasi-Hopf algebras are studied as Frobenius algebras.
Let M be an (A,B)-bi-module over left and right respectively Artinian rings. Let C be a multiplication ring of bi-module M, i.e. the ring C is generated by images of a and B in End(M). Let Z be a center of C. Bi-module M over rings C and Z we call a bi-module of translation of (A,B)-bi-module M. We investigate a relationship between the fact that (A,B)-bi-module M is quasi-Frobenius and the fact that (C,Z)-bi-module M is quasi-Frobenius.
We show that the isomorphism class of a two-step solvable Lie poset subalgebra of a semisimple Lie algebra is determined by its dimension. We further establish that all such algebras are absolutely rigid.
MacWilliams proved that every finite field has the extension property for Hamming weight which was later extended in a seminal work by Wood who characterized finite Frobenius rings as precisely those rings which satisfy the MacWilliams extension property. In this paper, the question of when is a MacWilliams ring quasi-Frobenius is addressed. It is proved that a right or left noetherian left 1-MacWilliams ring is quasi-Frobenius thus answering the different questions asked in [M. C. Iovanov, On infinite MacWilliams rings and minimal injectivity conditions, Proc. Amer. Math. Soc., DOI: 10.1090/p…
We introduce the notion of the Frobenius-Perron dimension of an integral $\Bbb Z_+$-ring and give some applications of this notion to classification of finite dimensional quasi-Hopf algebras with a unique nontrivial simple module, and of quasi-Hopf and Hopf algebras of prime dimension $p$.
We study co-Frobenius and more generally Quasi-co-Frobenius corings over arbitrary baserings and over PF baserings in particular. We generalize some results about (Quasi-) co-Frobenius coalgebras to the case of non-commutative base rings and give several new characterisations for co-Frobenius and Quasi-co-Frobenius corings, some of them are new even in the coalgebra situation. We construct Morita contexts to study Frobenius properies of corings and a second kind of Morita contexts to study adjoint pairs. Comparing both Morita contexts, we obtain our main result that characterises (Quasi-) co-F…
We prove that the description of pencils of compatible (N x N)-metrics of constant Riemannian curvature is equivalent to a special class of integrable N-parametric deformations of quasi-Frobenius (in general, noncommutative) algebras.
Let $R$ be a standard graded algebra over an $F$-finite field of characteristic $p > 0$. Let $ϕ:R\to R$ be the Frobenius endomorphism. For each finitely generated graded $R$-module $M$, let ${}^ϕ\!M$ be the abelian group $M$ with the $R$-module structure induced by the Frobenius endomorphism. The $R$-module ${}^ϕ\!M$ has a natural grading given by $\text{deg} x=j$ if $x\in M_{jp+i}$ for some $0\le i \le p-1$. In this paper, we prove that $R$ is Koszul if and only if there exists a non-zero finitely generated graded $R$-module $M$ such that $\text{reg}_R\,{}^ϕ\!M <\infty$. This result supplies …
We prove that a quasi-bialgebra admits a preantipode if and only if the associated free quasi-Hopf bimodule functor is Frobenius, if and only if the relative (opmonoidal) monad is a Hopf monad. The same results hold in particular for a bialgebra, tightening the connection between Hopf and Frobenius properties.
We consider a finite acyclic quiver $\mathcal{Q}$ and a quasi-Frobenius ring $R$. We endow the category of quiver representations over $R$ with a model structure, whose homotopy category is equivalent to the stable category of Gorenstein-projective modules over the path algebra $R\mathcal{Q}$. As an application, we then characterize Gorenstein-projective $R\mathcal{Q}$-modules in terms of the corresponding quiver $R$-representations; this generalizes a result obtained by Luo-Zhang to the case of not necessarily finitely generated $R\mathcal{Q}$-modules, and partially recover results due to Eno…
In order to study graded Frobenius algebras from a ring theoretical perspective, we introduce graded quasi-Frobenius rings, graded Frobenius rings and a shift-version of the latter ones, and we investigate the structure and representations of such objects. We need to revisit graded simple graded left Artinian rings, graded semisimple rings, and to provide graded versions of certain results concerning the Jacobson radical, the singular radical, and their connection to finiteness conditions and injectivity. We prove a structure result for (shift-)graded Frobenius rings.
The Faith-Menal conjecture says that every strongly right $Johns$ ring is $QF$. The conjecture is also equivalent to say every right noetherian left $FP$-injective ring is $QF$. In this short article, we show that the conjecture is true under the condition(a proper generalization of left $CS$ condition)that every nonzero complement left ideal is not small(a left ideal $I$ is called small if for every left ideal $K$, $K$+$I$=$R$ implies $K$=$R$). It is also proved that (1) $R$ is $QF$ if and only if $R$ is a left and right mininjective ring with $ACC$ on right annihilators in which $S_{r}\subse…
We provide new characterizations of pseudo-Frobenius and quasi-Frobenius rings in terms of tight modules. In the process, we also provide fresh perspectives on FGF and CF conjectures. In particular, we propose new natural extensions of these conjectures which connect them with the classical theory of PF rings. Our techniques are mainly based on set-theoretic counting arguments initiated by Osofsky. Several corollaries and examples to illustrate their applications are given.
"Co-Frobenius" coalgebras were introduced as dualizations of Frobenius algebras. Recently, it was shown in \cite{I} that they admit left-right symmetric characterizations analogue to those of Frobenius algebras: a coalgebra $C$ is co-Frobenius if and only if it is isomorphic to its rational dual. We consider the more general quasi-co-Frobenius (QcF) coalgebras; in the first main result we show that these also admit symmetric characterizations: a coalgebra is QcF if it is weakly isomorphic to its (left, or equivalently right) rational dual $Rat(C^*)$, in the sense that certain coproduct or prod…
In this paper, we define the higher Frobenius-Schur (FS-)indicators for finite-dimensional modules $V$ of a semisimple quasi-Hopf algebra $H$ via the categorical counterpart developed in \cite{NS05}. We prove that this definition of higher FS-indicators coincides with the higher indicators introduced by Kashina, Sommerhäuser, and Zhu when $H$ is a Hopf algebra. We also obtain a sequence of canonical central elements of $H$, which is invariant under gauge transformations, whose values, when evaluated by the character of an $H$-module $V$, are the higher Frobenius-Schur indicators of $V$. As an …
We generalize the results on existence and uniqueness of integrals from compact groups and Hopf algebras in a pure (co)algebraic setting, and find a series of new results on (quasi)-co-Frobenius and semiperfect coalgebras. For a coalgebra $C$, we introduce the generalized space of integrals $\int_M=\Hom^C(C,M)$ associated to a right $C$-comodule $M$ and study connections between "uniqueness of integrals" $\dim(\int_M)\leq \dim(M)$ and "existence of integrals" $\dim(\int_M)\geq \dim(M)$ for all $M$ and representation theoretic properties of $C$: (quasi)-co-Frobenius, semiperfect. We show that a…
We study subcoalgebras of path coalgebras that are spanned by paths (called path subcoalgebras) and subcoalgebras of incidence coalgebras, and propose a unifying approach for these classes. We discuss the left quasi-co-Frobenius and the left co-Frobenius properties for these coalgebras. We classify the left co-Frobenius path subcoalgebras, showing that they are direct sums of certain path subcoalgebras arising from the infinite line quiver or from cyclic quivers. We also discuss the coreflexive property for the considered classes of coalgebras. Finally, we investigate which of the co-Frobenius…
