Due to its dominance in the low energy eta-nucleon interaction, the S11 N$^*$(1535) resonance enters as an important ingredient in the analyses of experiments aimed at finding evidence for the existence of eta-mesic nuclei. The static properties of the resonance get modified inside the nucleus and its momentum distribution is used in deciding these properties as well as the kinematics in the analyses. Here we show that given the possibility for the existence of an N$^*$-$^3$He quasibound state, the relative momentum distribution of an N$^*$ and $^3$He inside such a $^4$He is narrower than that of neutron-$^3$He in $^4$He. Results for the N$^*$-$^{24}$Mg system are also presented. The present exploratory work could be useful in motivating searches of exotic N$^*$-nucleus quasibound states as well as in performing analyses of eta meson production data.
The halo nuclei $^6$He and $^8$He are described in a consistent way in a microscopic multiconfiguration model, the refined resonating group method. The ground state properties have been calculated, and momentum distributions of fragments and neutrons have been determined in a simple reaction scenario, taking into account final-state interactions. The correlation of neutrons and fragments are investigated.
One Delta- isobar components of the wave function in closed shell nuclei are considered within the framework of the harmonic oscillator model. Conventional transition potential is the pi- and rho- exchange potential. On the basis of the Delta- isobar configuration wave function, the momentum distribution of the Delta- isobar is calculated for the light nuclei $^4 He$,$^{16}O$,$^{12}C$
We address the problem of including Coulomb distortion effects in inclusive quasielastic (e,e') reactions using an improved version of the effective momentum approximation. Arguments are given that a simple modification of the effective momentum approximation, which is no longer applicable in its original form in the case of highly charged nuclei, leads to very good results. A comparison of the improved effective momentum method with exact calculations is given. A critical remark concerns recent experiments with inclusive quasielastic positron scattering.
Analytical expressions of the one- and two- body terms in the cluster expansion of the one-body density matrix and momentum distribution of the s-p and s-d shell nuclei with N=Z are derived. They depend on the harmonic oscillator parameter b and the parameter $β$ which originates from the Jastrow correlation function. These parameters have been determined by least squares fit to the experimental charge form factors. The inclusion of short-range correlations increases the high momentum component of the momentum distribution, $n({\bf k})$ for all nuclei we have considered while there is an A dep…
A simple method is presented to evaluate the effects of short-range correlations on the momentum distribution of nucleons in nuclear matter within the framework of the Green's function approach. The method provides a very efficient representation of the single-particle Green's function for a correlated system. The reliability of this method is established by comparing its results to those obtained in more elaborate calculations. The sensitivity of the momentum distribution on the nucleon-nucleon interaction and the nuclear density is studied. The momentum distributions of nucleons in finite nu…
We study the properties of the spin dependent one body density in momentum space for odd--A polarized deformed nuclei within the mean field approximation. We derive analytic expressions connecting intrinsic and laboratory momentum distributions. The latter are related to observable transition densities in {\bf p}--space that can be probed in one nucleon knock--out reactions from polarized targets. It is shown that most of the information contained in the intrinsic spin dependent momentum distribution is lost when the nucleus is not polarized. Results are presented and discussed for two prolate…
The two-body momentum distribution n2(p1,p2) of nuclei is studied. First, a compact analytical expression is derived for Z=N l-closed nuclei, within the context of the independent-particle shell model. Application to the light closed-shell nucleus 16O is included and discussed. Next, the effect of dynamical, short-range correlations is investigated in the case of 4He, by including Jastrow-type correlations in the formalism. The effect is significant for large values of p1 and p2 and for angles between the vectors p1 and p2 close to 180 deg. and 0.
We adapt the local density approximation to add the high-momentum tails (HMTs) to finite nuclei's Slater-determinant momentum distributions. The HMTs are extracted by the extended Brueckner-Hartree-Fock (EBHF) method or by the lowest order cluster approximation. With a correction factor being added to EBHF, it is sufficiently in agreement with the experimental benchmark, i.e., the high-momentum $N/Z$ ratios approximately equal to $1$, and the low-momentum $N/Z$ ratios approximately equal to $N/Z$ of the systems. It is also found that the tensor force makes the nucleon-nucleon correlations appe…
Proton momentum distributions of the $^{12}C$, $^{16}O$, $^{40}Ca$, $^{56}Fe$ and $^{208}$Pb nuclei are calculated by a model using the natural orbital representation and the experimental data for the momentum distribution of the $^{4}He$ nucleus. The model allows realistic momentum distributions to be obtained using only hole-state natural orbitals (or mean-field single-particle wave functions as a good approximation to them). To demonstrate the model two different sets of wave functions were employed and the predictions were compared with the available empirical data and other theoretical re…
Talk given at the "International Workshop on (e,e'p) Processes", July 2-6, 2017, Bled, Slovenia. Various many-body calculations are compared and the results provided by the Normalization Conserving Linked Cluster Expansion with realistic NN interactions are reviewed and analyzed in detail, as far as ground state energies, momentum distributions and spectral functions of few-nucleon system and complex nuclei are concerned.
We report variational Monte Carlo calculations of single-nucleon momentum distributions for A <= 12 nuclei and nucleon-pair and nucleon-cluster momentum distributions for A <= 8. The wave functions have been generated for a Hamiltonian containing the Argonne v18 two-nucleon and Urbana X three-nucleon potentials. The single-nucleon and nucleon-pair momentum distributions exhibit universal features attributable to the one-pion-exchange tensor interaction. The single-nucleon distributions are broken down into proton and neutron components and spin-up and spin-down components where appropriate. Th…
The variations of short-range correlations (SRC) across nuclei can be quantified in an approximately model-independent fashion in terms of the so-called SRC scaling factors. We provide predictions for the SRC scaling factors for both bound protons and bound neutrons across the nuclear periodic table and determine the contribution of the different nucleon pair combinations to this quantity. Thereby we employ the low-order correlation operator approximation (LCA) to compute the SRC contribution to the single-nucleon momentum distribution. We do this for a sample of fifteen nuclei from He to Pb t…
Universality of short range correlations has been investigated both in coordinate and in momentum space, by means of one-and two-body densities and momentum distributions. In this contribution we discuss one- and two-body momentum distributions across a wide range of nuclei and their common features which can be ascribed to the presence of short range correlations. Calculations for few-body nuclei, namely 3He and 4He, have been performed using exact wave functions obtained with Argonne nucleon-nucleon interactions, while the linked cluster expansion technique is used for medium-heavy nuclei. T…
The influence of correlations on the momentum distribution of nucleons in nuclei is evaluated starting from a realistic nucleon-nucleon interaction. The calculations are performed directly for the finite nucleus $\,^{16}$O making use of the Green's function approach. The emphasis is focused on the correlations induced by the excitation modes at low energies described within a model-space of shell-model configurations including states up to the sdg shell. Our analysis demonstrates that these long-range correlations do not produce any significant enhancement of the momentum distribution at high …
We study nucleon momentum distributions of even-even isotopes of Ni, Kr, and Sn in the framework of deformed self-consistent mean-field Skyrme HF+BCS method, as well as of theoretical correlation methods based on light-front dynamics and local density approximation. The isotopic sensitivities of the calculated neutron and proton momentum distributions are investigated together with the effects of pairing and nucleon-nucleon correlations. The role of deformation on the momentum distributions in even-even Kr isotopes is discussed. For comparison, the results for the momentum distribution in nucl…
The moment of inertia of even-even deformed nuclei which are derived on the basis of hydrodynamical model yield values that are too small compared with the experimental [Davidson 1965] ones. We expect that these contradictions come from the consideration only the first term in $R$- expansion in spite of not containing parameters indicating deformity of the nucleus, and neglecting all other terms which include the deformation parameters $αλμ$. In this work, the first three terms in $R$- expansion are taken into account. The results are more realistic and too much better the previous ones.
Current and future electron and neutrino scattering experiments will be greatly aided by a better understanding of the role played by short-range correlations in nuclei. Two-body physics, including nucleon-nucleon correlations and two-body electroweak currents, is required to explain the body of experimental data for both static and dynamical nuclear properties. In this work, we focus on examining nucleon-nucleon correlations from a chiral effective field theory perspective and provide a comprehensive set of new variational Monte Carlo calculations of one- and two-body densities and momentum d…
The high-momentum antisymmetrized molecular dynamics (HMAMD) is a new promising framework with significant analytical simplicity and efficiency inherited from its antisymmetrized molecular dynamics in describing the high momentum correlations in various nuclear states. In the aim of further improving the numerical efficiency for the description of nucleon-nucleon correlation, we introduce a new formulation by including a new Gaussian weighted basis of high momentum pairs in the HMAMD wave function, with which very rapid convergence is obtained in numerical calculation. It is surprising that th…
The additivity principle of the extreme shell model stipulates that an average value of a one-body operator be equal to the sum of the core contribution and effective contributions of valence (particle or hole) nucleons. For quadrupole moment and angular momentum operators, we test this principle for highly and superdeformed rotational bands in the A~130 nuclei. Calculations are done in the self-consistent cranked non-relativistic Hartree-Fock and relativistic Hartree mean-field approaches. Results indicate that the additivity principle is a valid concept that justifies the use of an extreme s…
Many-body correlations play an essential role in the ab initio description of nuclei with nuclear bare interactions. We propose a new framework to describe light nuclei by the hybridization of the tensor-optimized antisymmetrized molecular dynamics (TOAMD) and the high-momentum AMD (HM-AMD), which we call "HM-TOAMD". In this framework, we describe the many-body correlations in terms of not only the correlation functions in TOAMD, but also the high-momentum pairs in the AMD wave function. With the bare nucleon-nucleon interaction AV8', we sufficiently reproduce the energy and radius of the 3H n…
We study the properties of the nuclear rotational excitations with hypothetical tetrahedral symmetry by employing the microscopic mean-field and residual-interaction Hamiltonians with angular-momentum and parity projection method; we focus on the deformed nuclei with tetrahedral doubly-closed shell configurations. We find that for pure tetrahedral deformation the obtained excitation patterns satisfy the characteristic features predicted by group-representation theory applied to the tetrahedral symmetry group. We find that a gradual transition from the approximately linear to the characteristic…
We present the first systematic calculations based on the angular-momentum projection of cranked Slater determinants. We propose the Iy --> I scheme, by which one projects the angular momentum I from the 1D cranked state constrained to the average spin projection of <I_y>=I. Calculations performed for the rotational band in 46Ti show that the AMP Iy --> I scheme offers a natural mechanism for correcting the cranking moment of inertia at low-spins and shifting the terminating state up by ~2 MeV, in accordance with data. We also apply this scheme to high-spin states near the band termination in …

The influence of short-range correlations on the momentum and energy distribution of nucleons in nuclei is evaluated assuming a realistic meson-exchange potential for the nucleon-nucleon interaction. Using the Green-function approach the calculations are performed directly for the finite nucleus $^{16}$O avoiding the local density approximation and its reference to studies of infinite nuclear matter. The nucleon-nucleon correlations induced by the short-range and tensor components of the interaction yield an enhancement of the momentum distribution at high momenta as compared to the Hartree-Fo…
Ground-state properties of 16O and 40Ca are calculated with a low-momentum nucleon-nucleon potential, V-low-k, derived from the chiral N3LO interaction recently constructed by Entem and Machleidt. The smooth V-low-k is used directly in a Hartree-Fock approach, avoiding the difficulties of the Brueckner-Hartree-Fock procedure. Corrections up to third order in the Goldstone expansion are evaluated, leading to results that are in very good agreement with experiment. Convergence properties of the expansion are examined.
Recently we have proposed a reliable method to describe the rotational band in a fully microscopic manner. The method has recourse to the configuration-mixing of several cranked mean-field wave functions after the angular-momentum-projection. By applying the method with the Gogny D1S force as an effective interaction, we investigate the moments of inertia of the ground state rotational bands in a number of selected nuclei in the rare earth region. As another application we try to describe, for the first time, the two-neutron aligned band in $^{164}$Er, which crosses the ground state band and b…
We aim to study the role of momentum-dependent interactions in transverse flow as well as in its disappearance. For the present study, central collisions involving mass between 24 and 394 are considered. We find that momentum-dependent interactions have different impact in lighter colliding nuclei compared to heavier colliding nuclei. In lighter nuclei, the contribution of mean field towards the flow is smaller compared to heavier nuclei where binary nucleon-nucleon collisions dominate the scene. The inclusion of momentum-dependent interactions also explains the energy of vanishing flow in $^{…
The degrees of freedom associated with shape fluctuations and space orientation of atomic nuclei are analyzed with effective forces and large configuration spaces. A pedagogical theoretical introduction to the topic of symmetries restoration broken in the mean field approach as well as to the concept of generator coordinate is presented. We discuss global properties, like binding energies, two neutron separation energies and quadrupole moments, as well as spectroscopic ones like excitation energies or transition probabilities. The analysis covers selected examples of light and heavy nuclei, as…
We present a systematic study of disappearance of flow i.e. balance energy $E_{bal}$ for an isotopic series of Ca with N/Z varying from 1 to 2 for different density dependences of symmetry energies. We also extend this study for asymmetric reactions having radioactive projectile and stable target.
The momentum distributions, natural orbits, spectroscopic factors and quasi-hole wave functions of the C12, O16, Ca40, Ca48, and Pb208 doubly closed shell nuclei, have been calculated in the framework of the Correlated Basis Function theory, by using the Fermi hypernetted chain resummation techniques. The calculations have been done by using the realistic Argonne v8' nucleon-nucleon potential, together with the Urbana IX three-body interaction. Operator dependent correlations, which consider channels up to the tensor ones, have been used. We found noticeable effects produced by the correlation…
The effects of short range correlations (SRC) in inclusive (A(e,e')X) and exclusive (A(e,e'N)X and A(e,e'2N)X) are reviewed. A new approach to the analysis of inclusive cross sections is illustrated, based upon the introduction of proper scaling functions and variables which incorporate the effects of two- and three-nucleon SRC. The approach is used to interpret the plateaux observed in the CLAS inclusive cross section ratios of 4He, 12C and 56Fe to 3He.
The role of the effective momentum approximation to disentangle Coulomb distortion effects in quasielastic $(e,e')$ reactions is investigated. The separation of the cross section in longitudinal and transverse components is discussed including higher order DWBA corrections due to the focusing of the electron waves. The experimental studies performed, in the last few years, making use of different approximate treatments are shown to be sometime inconsistent. As a consequence some of the longitudinal and transverse responses, extracted from the inclusive cross sections cannot be considered reliab…
The structures and distributions of light nuclei are investigated within a microscopic correlation model. Two particle correlations are responsible for the scattering of model particles either to low momentum- or to high momentum-states. The low momentum states form the model space while the high momentum states are used to calculate the G-matrix. The three and higher order particle correlations do not play a role in the latter calculation especially if the correlations induced by the scattering operator are of sufficient short range. They modify however, via the long tail of the nuclear poten…
Recent studies at Jefferson Lab show that there are a certain proportion of nucleons in nuclei have momenta greater than the so-called nuclear Fermi momentum $p_{F}$. Based on the transport model of nucleus-nucleus collisions at intermediate energies, nucleon high momentum caused by the neutron-proton short-range correlations in nuclei is constrained by comparing with $π$ and photon experimental data and considering some uncertainties. The high momentum cutoff value $p_{max}$ $\leq$ 2$p_{F}$ is obtained.
Two-nucleon momentum correlation functions are investigated for different single thermal sources at given initial temperature $(T)$ and density $(ρ)$. To this end, the space-time evolutions of various single excited nuclei at $T$ $= 1 - 20$ $MeV$ and $ρ$ = 0.2 - 1.2 $ρ_0$ are simulated by using the thermal isospin-dependent quantum molecular dynamics $(ThIQMD)$ model. Momentum correlation functions of identical proton-pairs ($C_{pp}(q)$) or neutron-pairs ($C_{nn}(q)$) at small relative momenta are calculated by $Lednick\acute{y}$ and $Lyuboshitz$ analytical method. The results illustrate that …
The Lagrangian density of standard relativistic mean-field (RMF) models with density-dependent meson-nucleon coupling vertices is modified by introducing couplings of the meson fields to derivative nucleon densities. As a consequence, the nucleon self energies, that describe the effective in-medium interaction, become momentum dependent. In this approach it is possible to increase the effective (Landau) mass of the nucleons, that is related to the density of states at the Fermi energy, as compared to conventional relativistic models. At the same time the relativistic effective (Dirac) mass is …
The effect of dynamical short-range correlations on the generalized momentum distribution $n(\vec{p},\vec{Q})$ in the case of $Z=N$, $\ell$-closed shell nuclei is investigated by introducing Jastrow-type correlations in the harmonic-oscillator model. First, a low order approximation is considered and applied to the nucleus $^4$He. Compact analytical expressions are derived and numerical results are presented and the effect of center-of-mass corrections is estimated. Next, an approximation is proposed for $n(\vec{p}, \vec{Q})$ of heavier nuclei, that uses the above correlated $n(\vec{p},\vec{Q}…
Relying upon our previous treatment of the density matrices for nuclei (in general, nonrelativistic self-bound finite systems) we are studying a combined effect of center-of-mass motion and short-range nucleon-nucleon correlations on the nucleon density and momentum distributions in light nuclei ($^{4}He $ and $^{16}O$). Their intrinsic ground-state wave functions are constructed in the so-called fixed center-of-mass approximation, starting with mean-field Slater determinants modified by some correlator (e.g., after Jastrow or Villars). We develop the formalism based upon the Cartesian or boso…
Using a fully quantum mechanical post-form finite-range distorted-wave Born approximation theory of Coulomb breakup, I study the parallel momentum distribution of the core in the Coulomb breakup of suggested excited-state one-neutron halo nuclei considered in their different bound excited states. Narrow momentum distributions obtained in the present calculations for some cases indicate the possibilities of the excited-state halo structure in the nuclei under consideration and therefore favor the previous predictions.
The present contribution reviews recent advances made toward a microscopic understanding of superfluidity in nuclei using many-body methods based on the BCS ansatz and low-momentum inter-nucleon interactions, themselves based on chiral effective field theory and renormalization group techniques.
We present ground-state energies of helium halo nuclei based on chiral low-momentum interactions, using the hyperspherical-harmonics method for 6He and coupled-cluster theory for 8He, with correct asymptotics for the extended halo structure.
We present a systematic investigation of few-nucleon systems and light nuclei using the current LENPIC interactions comprising semilocal momentum-space regularized two- and three-nucleon forces up to third chiral order (N$^2$LO). Following our earlier study utilizing the coordinate-space regularized interactions, the two low-energy constants entering the three-body force are determined from the triton binding energy and the differential cross section minimum in elastic nucleon-deuteron scattering. Predictions are made for selected observables in elastic nucleon-deuteron scattering and in the d…
Based on the recent experimental observations of the dominance of tensor interaction in the ~250-600~MeV/c momentum range of nucleons in nuclei, the existence of two new properties for high-momentum distribution of nucleons in asymmetric nuclei is suggested. The first property is the approximate scaling relation between proton and neutron high-momentum distributions weighted by their relative fractions in the nucleus. The second property is the inverse proportionality of the strength of the high-momentum distribution of protons and neutrons to the same relative fractions. Based on these two pr…
The scaling functions $f(ψ')$ and $F(y)$ from the $ψ'$- and $y$-scaling analyses of inclusive electron scattering from nuclei are explored within the coherent density fluctuation model (CDFM). In addition to the CDFM formulation in which the local density distribution is used, we introduce a new equivalent formulation of the CDFM based on the one-body nucleon momentum distribution (NMD). Special attention is paid to the different ways in which the excitation energy of the residual system is taken into account in $y$- and $ψ'$-scaling. Both functions, $f(ψ')$ and $F(y)$, are calculated using di…
The nucleon single-particle energies (SPEs) of the selected closed shell nuclei; that is, 16O, 40Ca, and 56Ni, are obtained by using the diagonal matrix elements of two-body effective interaction, which generated through the lowest order constrained variational (LOCV) calculations for the symmetric nuclear matter with the AV18 phenomenological nucleon-nucleon potential. The SPEs at the major levels of nuclei are calculated by employing a Hartree-Fock inspired-scheme in the spherical harmonic oscillator basis. In the scheme, the correlation influences are taken into account by imposing the nucl…
Two-nucleon momentum distributions are calculated for the ground states of nuclei with mass number $A\leq 8$, using variational Monte Carlo wave functions derived from a realistic Hamiltonian with two- and three-nucleon potentials. The momentum distribution of $np$ pairs is found to be much larger than that of $pp$ pairs for values of the relative momentum in the range (300--600) MeV/c and vanishing total momentum. This order of magnitude difference is seen in all nuclei considered and has a universal character originating from the tensor components present in any realistic nucleon-nucleon pot…
A proposal approved by the Jefferson Lab (JLab) PAC to study the proton-to-neutron momentum distribution ratio in A=3 nuclei via (e,e'p) scattering off 3He and 3H mirror nuclei. The experiment will measure the 3H(e,e'p) and 3He(e,e'p) cross-sections and cross-section ratios at Q2 = 2 and xB>1 kinematics, over a missing momentum range of 0 - 450 MeV/c. The experiment was approved in 2014 at part of the JLab Hall-A Tritium run period for a total run time of 12 days.
The ground-state energy of the doubly magic nuclei 4He and 16O has been calculated within the framework of the Goldstone expansion starting from modern nucleon-nucleon potentials. A low-momentum potential V-low-k has been derived from the bare potential by integrating out its high-momentum components beyond a cutoff Lambda. We have employed a simple criterion to relate this cutoff momentum to a boundary condition for the two-nucleon model space spanned by a harmonic-oscillator basis. Convergence of the results has been obtained with a limited number of oscillator quanta.
The repulsive Coulomb force poses severe challenges when describing $(d, p)$ reactions for highly charged nuclei as a three-body problem. Casting Faddeev-AGS equations in a Coulomb basis avoids introducing screening of the Coulomb force. However, momentum space partial-wave $t$-matrix elements need to be evaluated in this basis. When those $t$-matrices are separable, the evaluation requires the folding of a form factor, depending on one momentum variable, with a momentum space partial-wave Coulomb function, which has a singular behavior at the external momentum $q$. We developed an improved re…
In the sequel of the present study, we have investigated the rotational motion of triaxially deformed nucleus by using the microscopic framework of angular-momentum projection. The Woods-Saxon potential and the schematic separable-type interaction are employed as a microscopic Hamiltonian. As the first example nuclear wobbling motion was studied in detail in the part~I of the series. This second part reports on another interesting rotational mode, chiral doublet bands: two prototype examples, $^{128}$Cs and $^{104}$Rh, are investigated. It is demonstrated that the doublet bands naturally appea…
We show that the gluon distribution function for very large nuclei may be computed for small transverse momentum as correlation functions of an ultraviolet finite two dimensional Euclidean field theory. This computation is valid to all orders in the density of partons per unit area, but to lowest order in $α_s$. The gluon distribution function is proportional to $1/x$, and the effect of the finite density of partons is to modify the dependence on transverse momentum for small transverse momentum.
We show how the renormalization group is used to construct a low-momentum nucleon-nucleon interaction V_{low k}, which unifies all potential models used in nuclear structure calculations. V_{low k} can be directly applied to the nuclear shell model or to nucleonic matter without a G matrix resummation. It is argued that V_{low k} parameterizes a high-order chiral effective field theory two-nucleon force. We use cutoff dependence as a tool to assess the error in the truncation of nuclear forces to two-nucleon interactions and introduce a low-momentum three-nucleon force, which regulates A=3,4 b…
We address the problem of extracting single-nucleon momentum distributions $n(p)$ from inclusice scattering data. A model for these relates nuclear and nucleon structure functions (SF) through an intermediate SF $f^{PN}$ for a nucleus of point-particles. In addition to the asymptotic limit (AL) which depends on $n(p), f^{PN}$ contains, generally $q$-dependent Final State Interactions (FSI) parts. In the inverse problem one wishes to separate $q$-dependent FSI from the AL. In general it suffices to know the structure of the theory, but not numerical results. It appears, that in the $q$-range of…
The approach exposed in the recent paper (A. Shebeko, P. Papakonstantinou, E. Mavrommatis, Eur. Phys. J. A 27, 143 (2006)) has been applied in studying center-of-mass motion effects on the nucleon density and momentum distributions in nuclei. We are focused upon effects due to the center-of-mass and short-range nucleon correlations embedded in translationally invariant ground-state wavefunctions. The latter are constructed in the so-called fixed center-of-mass approximation, starting with a Slater determinant wave function modified by some correlator (e.g., after Jastrow or Villars). It is sho…
The relativistic light-front dynamics (LFD) method has been shown to give a correct description of the most recent data for the deuteron monopole and quadrupole charge form factors obtained at the Jefferson Laboratory for elastic electron-deuteron scattering for six values of the squared momentum transfer between 0.66 and 1.7 (GeV/c)$^{2}$. The good agreement with the data is in contrast with the results of the existing non-relativistic approaches. In this work we firstly make a complementary test of the LFD applying it to calculate another important characteristic, the nucleon momentum distri…
The link between the scaling function extracted from the analysis of (e,e') cross sections and the spectral function/momentum distribution in nuclei is revisited. Several descriptions of the spectral function based on the independent particle model are employed, together with the inclusion of nucleon correlations, and effects of the energy dependence arising from the width of the hole states are investigated. Although some of these approaches provide rough overall agreement with data, they are not found to be capable of reproducing one of the distinctive features of the experimental scaling fu…
