We investigate the ground state energies of vector $ρ^{\pm}$ and $K^{\pm *}$ mesons depending on the magnetic field value in the $SU(3)$ lattice gauge theory. It has been shown that the energy of a vector particle depends on its spin projection on the field axis. The magnetic dipole polarizability and hyperpolarizabilities give significant contributions to the energy value which prevents the formation of the charged vector meson condensate at high magnetic fields. We calculate the g-factor of $ρ^{\pm}$ and $K^{\pm*}$ mesons and the dipole magnetic polarizability of $ρ^{\pm}$ mesons.
We use lattice methods to evaluate from first principles the spectrum of hybrid mesons produced by gluonic excitations in quenched QCD with quark masses near the strange quark mass. For the spin-exotic mesons with $J^{PC}=1^{-+},\ 0^{+-}$, and $2^{+-}$ which are not present in the quark model, we determine the lightest state to be $1^{-+}$ with mass of 2.0(2) GeV.
We report on a lattice investigation of improved quenched Wilson fermions above and below the confinement-deconfinement phase transition. Results on meson screening masses as well as spatial wave functions are presented. Moreover, the meson dispersion relation is studied. Below the critical temperature we do not observe any significant temperature effect while above $T_c$ the data are consistent with a leading free quark behavior.
We study the singlet and non-singlet scalar-meson masses using domain wall fermions and the quenched approximation. The singlet mass is found to be smaller than the non-singlet mass and indicates that the lowest singlet meson state could be lighter than 1 GeV. The two-point functions for very small quark masses are compared with expectations from the small-volume chiral perturbation theory and the presence of fermionic zero modes.
We present recent results for meson screening masses with quenched Wilson fermions above and below the confinement- deconfinement phase transition. The action used in the simulation is the Sheikholeslami Wohlert action. The quark masses are chosen to be in a range going from light quarks up to the mass of the charm quark. These results are compared with zero temperature Wilson and high temperature staggered data.

This paper presents a first study of the pseudoscalar meson masses to two loops, or NNLO, within the supersymmetric formulation of partially quenched chiral perturbation theory (PQ$χ$PT). The expression for the pseudoscalar meson mass in the case of three valence and three sea quarks with equal masses, but different from each other, is given to ${\cal O}(p^6)$, along with a numerical analysis.
We calculate the effects of including dynamical fermion loops in the lattice QCD estimates of meson decay constants, by extrapolating the results from negative flavour numbers after a suitable matching of the pion and rho mass. For moderately light quarks, the values of the decay constants not corrected for the renormalization constants increase with respect to their quenched values.
Using lattice QCD simulation in the quenched approximation, we study the $κ$ meson, which is ^3P_0 in the quark model, and compare experimental and other lattice data. The $κ$ is the lowest scalar meson with strangeness and constitutes the scalar nonet. The obtained mass is much higher than the recent experimental value, and therefore the $κ(800)$ is difficult to consider as a simple two-body constituent-quark structure, and may have another unconventional structure.
Preliminary results on spectrum and decay constant of $B$ mesons from a quenched simulation at $β= 6.0$ on an $16^3\times48$ lattice are discussed. The heavy quark has been implemented using both an NRQCD and the static formulation, the light one with a clover improved Wilson formulation. Both the NRQCD Hamiltonian and the heavy-light current consistently include terms of $O(1/M_{Q})$, the inverse heavy quark mass.
This paper presents a first study of the masses and decay constants of the charged, or flavor-off-diagonal, pseudoscalar mesons to two loops for two flavors of sea-quarks, in Partially Quenched Chiral Perturbation Theory (PQ$χ$PT). Explicit analytical expressions up to ${\cal O}(p^6)$ in the momentum expansion are given. The calculations have been performed within the supersymmetric formulation of PQ$χ$PT. A numerical analysis is done to indicate the size of the corrections.
We study the lattice spacing dependence of meson spectral functions calculated in quenched QCD with domain wall fermions as well as clover Wilson fermions in quenched and partially-quenched QCD. We conclude that for lattice spacing $a \le 3$ GeV all excited states appearing in the spectral functions are lattice artifacts.
The chiral properties of the pseudoscalar mesons are studied numerically on a quenched $20^4$ lattice with the overlap fermion. We elucidate the role of the zero modes in the meson propagators, particularly that of the pseudoscalar meson. The non-perturbative renormalization constant $Z_A$ is determined from the axial Ward identity and is found to be almost independent of the quark mass for the range of quark masses we study; this implies that the $O(a^2)$ error is small. The pion decay constant, $f_π$, is calculated from which we determine the lattice spacing to be 0.148 fm. We look for quenc…
By considering the local vector current between nucleon states and imposing charge conservation we determine, for $O(a)$ improved Wilson fermions, its renormalisation constant and quark mass improvement coefficient. The computation is performed for both quenched and two flavour unquenched fermions.
We analyze the meson correlator in the spatial direction at finite temperature. To achieve fine resolution in the spatial direction, we use an anisotropic lattice with the standard Wilson plaquette gauge action and the $O(a)$ improved Wilson quark action. Below and above $T_c$, properties of correlators are investigated by two methods: fits with ansatz for the spectral function, and direct reconstruction of the spectral function using the maximum entropy method.
We non-perturbatively calculate the renormalization factor of the static axial vector current in O(a) improved quenched lattice QCD. Its scale dependence is mapped out in the Schroedinger functional scheme by means of a recursive finite-size scaling technique, taking the continuum limit in each step. We also obtain Z_A^{stat} for Wilson fermions in order to renormalize existing unimproved data on F_B^{bare} non-perturbatively.
Quenched and partially quenched chiral perturbation theory for vector mesons is developed and is used to extract chiral loop correction to the $ρ$ meson mass. Connections to fully quenched and totally unquenched chiral perturbation theory results are discussed. It is also shown that (partially) quenched perturbation theory for tensor mesons can be formulated analogously, and the chiral corrections for tensor meson masses are directly proportional to their counterparts in the vector meson sector. Utilizing this observation and non-relativistic quark model, we point out that mass difference $(m_…
We present a quenched calculation of meson correlators with the overlap fermion at very small masses 2.6--13 MeV. In this region the pion Compton wavelength is larger than our lattice size L\simeq 1.23fm and the system is in the so-called epsilon-regime of chiral perturbation theory. We found that the scalar and pseudo-scalar correlators are precisely approximated by a few hundred low-lying fermion eigenmodes in this regime, whereas axial-vector correlator receives significant contributions from higher eigenmodes. We also measure the disconnected pseudo-scalar correlator, which is well saturat…
We present a precise determination of the leptonic decay constant F_D(s) of the D(s)-meson in quenched lattice QCD. This work is particularly focused on the analysis and discussion of all sources of systematic errors. We simulate directly at the physical quark masses for five different lattice spacings between 0.1fm and 0.03fm using O(a)-improvement. The finest lattice is still work in progress. After taking the continuum limit and setting the scale with the Kaon decay constant F_K=160MeV we arrive at a value of F_D(s)=252(9)MeV. Setting the scale with the nucleon mass instead leads to a decre…
We present results on the spectrum of B mesons and heavy baryons, using a non-relativistic formulation for the heavy and a clover action for the light quark. We also discuss B meson decay constants and their dependency upon the heavy meson mass.
Charmed meson charmonium spectra are studied with improved quark actions on anisotropic lattices. We measured the pseudo-scalar and vector meson dispersion relations for 4 lowest lattice momentum modes with quark mass values ranging from the strange quark to charm quark with 3 different values of gauge coupling $β$ and 4 different values of bare speed of light $ν$. With the bare speed of light parameter $ν$ tuned in a mass-dependent way, we study the mass spectra of $D$, $D_s$, $η_c$, $D^{\ast}$, $D_s^{\ast}$ and $J/ψ$ mesons. The results extrapolated to the continuum limit are compared with t…
Through a finite size renormalization group technique we calculate the running coupling constant for quenched SU(2) with a few percent error over a range of energy varying by a factor thirty. The definition is based on ratio of correlations of Polyakov loops with twisted boundary conditions. The extrapolation to the continuum limit is governed by corrections due to lattice artifacts which are proportional to the square of the lattice spacing and appears rather smooth.
The form factors for the semi-leptonic B->D and B->D* decays are evaluated in quenched lattice QCD at two different values of the coupling, beta=6.0 and 6.2. The action and the operators are fully O(a) non-perturbatively improved. The slope of the Isgur-Wise function is evaluated, and found to be rho^2=0.83^{+15+24}_{-11-1} (quoted errors are statistical and systematic respectively). Ratios of form factors are evaluated and compared to experimental determinations.
The scalar isovector meson propagator is studied in quenched QCD. For the lightest quark masses used, this propagator is dominated by a quenched chiral loop effect associated with the $η'$-$π$ two-meson intermediate state. Both the time dependence and the pion mass dependence of the effect are well-described by quenched chiral perturbation theory.
A lattice QCD calculation of the B meson decay constant is presented. In order to investigate the scaling violation associated with the heavy quark, parallel simulations are carried out employing both Wilson and the O(a)-improved clover actions for the heavy quark. The discretization errors due to the large $b$ quark mass are estimated in a systematic way with the aid of the non-relativistic interpretation approach of El-Khadra, Kronfeld and Mackenzie. As our best value from the quenched simulations at $β$=5.9, 6.1 and 6.3 we obtain $f_B$=163$\pm$16 MeV and $f_{B_s}$=175$\pm$18 MeV in the cont…
The chiral nonanalytic behaviour of quark-flavor contributions to the magnetic moments of octet baryons are determined in full, quenched and partially-quenched QCD, using an intuitive and efficient diagrammatic formulation of quenched and partially-quenched chiral perturbation theory. The technique provides a separation of quark-sector magnetic-moment contributions into direct sea-quark loop, valence-quark, indirect sea-quark loop and quenched valence contributions, the latter being the conventional view of the quenched approximation. Both meson and baryon mass violations of SU(3)-flavor symme…
We present results of a high-statistics study of scalar and pseudoscalar meson propagators in quenched QCD at two values of lattice spacing, beta = 5.7 and 5.9, with clover-improved Wilson fermions. The study of the chiral limit is facilitated by the pole-shifting ansatz of the modified quenched approximation. Pseudoscalar masses and decay constants are determined as a function of quark mass and quenched chiral log effects are estimated. A study of the flavor singlet eta prime hairpin diagram yields a precise determination of the eta prime mass insertion. The corresponding value of the quenche…
We measure on the lattice the quenched pseudoscalar and vector meson masses at a fixed value of the lattice spacing for SU(N) gauge theory with fermions in the adjoint, in the symmetric and in the antisymmetric representations of the gauge group. Simulations are performed for N=3,4,6 in all those representations, with the addition of N=2 for the adjoint representation. We illustrate a strategy for separating the even from the odd-power contributions in 1/N in the masses. Using this technique, we extrapolate the vector mass to the large-N limit in the chiral region and show that at N = infty th…
A numerical study of Orientifold Planar Equivalence is performed in SU(N) Yang-Mills theories for N=2,3,4,6. Quenched meson masses are extracted in the antisymmetric, symmetric and adjoint representations for the pseudoscalar and vector channels. An extrapolation of the vector mass as a function of the pseudoscalar mass to the large-N limit shows that the numerical results agree within errors for the three theories, as predicted by Orientifold Planar Equivalence. As a byproduct of the extrapolation, the size of the corrections up to O(1/N^3) are evaluated. A crucial prerequisite for the extrap…
We study effective energies of heavy-light meson correlation functions in lattice QCD and a small volume of (0.2 fm)^4 to non-perturbatively calculate their dependence on the heavy quark mass in the continuum limit. Our quenched results obtained here constitute an essential intermediate step of a first fully non-perturbative computation of the b-quark's mass in the static approximation that has recently been presented as an application of a new proposal to non-perturbatively renormalize the Heavy Quark Effective Theory. The renormalization constant and the improvement coefficients relating the…
We present results for the masses and decay constants of the light mesons in quenched QCD using the standard gluon action and a tadpole--improved SW--clover fermionic action to reduce discretisation errors. The calculation has been carried out at fixed volume and three lattice spacings corresponding to $β=5.7$, $6.0$ and $6.2$. We make comparisons with the conventional SW--clover scheme. We use our results to extract continuum limits and to quantify the size of discretisation errors at smaller $β$-values.
We present a quenched lattice calculation of heavy-light meson decay constants, using non-relativistic (NRQCD) heavy quarks in the mass region of the $b$ quark and heavier, and clover-improved light quarks. The NRQCD Hamiltonian and the heavy-light current include the corrections at first order in the expansion in the inverse heavy quark mass. We study the dependence of the decay constants on the heavy meson mass $M$, for light quarks with the tree level ($c_{SW}$ = 1), as well as the tadpole improved clover coefficient. We compare decay constants from NRQCD with results from clover ($c_{SW}=1…
We study charmonium correlators at finite temperature in quenched anisotropic lattice QCD. The smearing technique is applied to enhance the low energy part of the correlator. We use two analysis procedures: the maximum entropy method for extraction of the spectral function without assuming specific form, as an estimate of the shape of spectral function, and the $χ^2$ fit assuming typical forms as quantitative evaluation of the parameters associated to the forms. We find that at $T\simeq 0.9T_c$ the ground state peak has almost the same mass as at T=0 and almost vanishing width. At $T\simeq 1.1…
Two twisted doublets, one containing the up and down quarks and the other containing the strange quark with an SU(2)-flavor partner, are used for studies in the meson sector. The relevant chiral perturbation theory is presented, and quenched QCD simulations (where the partner of the strange quark is not active) are performed. Pseudoscalar meson masses and decay constants are computed; the vector and scalar mesons are also discussed. A comparison is made to the case of an untwisted strange quark, and some effects due to quenching, discretization, and the definition of maximal twist are explored…
We formulate quenched chiral perturbation theory for heavy-light mesons coupled to pions, and calculate the one-loop chiral logarithmic corrections to $f_B$, $f_{B_{s}}$, $B_B$ and $B_{B_{s}}$. We also calculate these corrections for ``partially quenched'' theories. In both theories, the chiral logarithms diverge in the chiral limit, indicating that (partially) quenched theories should not be used to study this limit. Comparing the chiral logarithms to those in QCD, we estimate the errors caused by (partial) quenching. By forming suitable ratios, we can reduce the uncertainties in our estimate…
We compute the decay constants for the heavy--light pseudoscalar mesons in the quenched approximation and continuum limit of lattice QCD. Within the Schrodinger Functional framework, we make use of the step scaling method, which has been previously introduced in order to deal with the two scale problem represented by the coexistence of a light and a heavy quark. The continuum extrapolation gives us a value $f_{B_s} = 192(6)(4)$ MeV for the $B_s$ meson decay constant and $f_{D_s} = 240(5)(5)$ MeV for the $D_s$ meson.
We present results on a new operator for the investigation of string-breaking effects in quenched SU(2)-colour QCD. The ground state of a spatially-separated static-light meson-antimeson pair is a combination of a state with two distinct mesons, expected to dominate for large separations, and a state where the light quarks have annihilated, which contributes at short distances. The cross-over between these two regimes provides the string-breaking scale.
We calculate, in the continuum limit of quenched lattice QCD, the matrix elements of the heavy-heavy vector current between heavy-light pseudoscalar meson states. We present the form factors for different values of the initial and final meson masses at finite momentum transfer. In particular, we calculate the non-perturbative correction to the differential decay rate of the process B --> D l nu including the case of a non-vanishing lepton mass.
We calculate the electric charge radii of the SU(3) pseudoscalar mesons and the SU(3) octet baryons in quenched and partially quenched chiral perturbation theory. We work in the isospin limit, up to next-to-leading order in the chiral expansion, and to leading order in the heavy baryon expansion. The results are necessary for the extrapolation of future lattice calculations of meson and baryon charge radii. We also derive expressions for the nucleon and pion charge radii in SU(2) flavor away from the isospin limit.
We perform a numerical test of a relativistic heavy quark(RHQ) action, recently proposed by Tsukuba group, in quenched lattice QCD at $a\simeq 0.1$ fm. With the use of the improvement parameters previously determined at one-loop level for the RHQ action, we investigate a restoration of rotational symmetry for heavy-heavy and heavy-light meson systems around the charm quark mass. We focused on two quantities, the meson dispersion relation and the pseudo-scalar meson decay constants. It is shown that the RHQ action significantly reduces the discretization errors due to the charm quark mass. We a…
We present preliminary quenched results on a new operator for the investigation of string-breaking within SU(2)-colour QCD. The ground-state of a spatially-separated static-light meson-antimeson pair is a combination of a state with two distinct mesons, expected to dominate for large separations, and a state where the light-quarks have annihilated, which contributes for short distances. The crossover between these two regimes provides a measure of the string-breaking scale length.
We present a scaling investigation of renormalized correlation functions in $\Or(a)$--improved quenched lattice QCD. As one observable the renormalized PCAC quark mass is considered, others are constructed such that they become the vector meson mass, and the pseudoscalar and vector meson decay constants in large volume. Presently, we remain in intermediate volume, $(0.75^3\times1.5) {fm}^4$, and study the approach to the continuum limit.
We develop quenched chiral perturbation theory for vector mesons made of light quarks, in the limit where the vector meson masses are much larger than the pion mass. We use this theory to extract the leading nonanalytic dependence of the vector meson masses on the masses of the light quarks. By comparing with analogous quantities computed in ordinary chiral perturbation theory, we estimate the size of quenching effects, observing that in general they can be quite large. This estimate is relevant to lattice simulations, where the $ρ$ mass is often used to set the lattice spacing.
This paper presents a first study of the decay constants of the charged, or flavor-off-diagonal, pseudoscalar mesons to two loops for three flavors of sea quarks, in Partially Quenched Chiral Perturbation Theory (PQ$χ$PT). Explicit analytical expressions up to ${\cal O}(p^6)$ in the momentum expansion are given. The calculations have been performed within the supersymmetric formulation of PQ$χ$PT. We also present some numerical results to indicate the size of the corrections.
A simulation of quenched QCD with the overlap Dirac operator has been completed using 100 Wilson gauge configurations at beta=6 on an 18^3x64 lattice. We present results for meson and baryon masses, meson final state "wave functions'' and other observables.
We have studied the light hadron spectrum and decay constants for quenched QCD at beta=6.2 on a 24^3x48 lattice. We compare the results obtained using a nearest-neighbour O(a)-improved ("clover") fermion action with those obtained using the standard Wilson fermion action on the same gauge configurations. For pseudoscalar meson masses in the range 330-800 MeV, we find no significant difference between the results for the two actions. The scales obtained from the string tension and mesonic sector are consistent, but higher than those derived from baryon masses. The ratio of the pseudoscalar deca…
We investigate the scaling behaviour of quenched Wilson twisted mass fermions at maximal twist applying two definitions of the critical mass. The first definition uses the vanishing of the pseudoscalar meson mass m_PS while the second employs the vanishing of the PCAC quark mass m_PCAC. We confirm in both cases the expected O(a) improvement. In addition, we show that the PCAC quark mass definition leads to substantially reduced O(a^2) cut-off effects even when the pseudoscalar meson mass m_PS is as small as 270 MeV. At a fixed value of m_PS we perform continuum limits for the vector meson mass…
We revisit the static potential for the $Q Q \bar Q \bar Q$ system using SU(3) lattice simulations, studying both the colour singlets groundstate and first excited state. We consider geometries where the two static quarks and the two anti-quarks are at the corners of rectangles of different sizes. We analyse the transition between a tetraquark system and a two meson system with a two by two correlator matrix. We compare the potentials computed with quenched QCD and with dynamical quarks. We also compare our simulations with the results of previous studies and analyze quantitatively fits of our…
We present high-statistics results for neutral $B$-meson mixing and heavy-light-meson leptonic decays in the quenched approximation from tadpole-improved clover actions at $β= 6.0$ and $β= 6.2$. We consider quantities such as $B_{B_{d(s)}}$, $f_{D_{d(s)}}$, $f_{B_{d(s)}}$ and the full $ΔB=2$ matrix elements as well as the corresponding SU(3)-breaking ratios. These quantities are important for determining the CKM matrix element $|V_{td}|$.
A new intuitive method for the rapid calculation of the leading nonanalytic behavior of hadronic observables in quenched chiral perturbation theory is presented. After proving the technique in a consideration of baryon masses, the quenched magnetic moments of octet baryons are addressed. The technique provides a separation of magnetic moment contributions into full, sea, valence and quenched valence contributions, the latter being the conventional view of the quenched approximation. Both baryon mass and meson mass violations of SU(3)-flavor symmetry are accounted for. A comprehensive examinati…
We discuss Partially Quenched Chiral Perturbation Theory (PQ$χ$PT) and possible fitting strategies to Lattice QCD data at next-to-next-to-leading order (NNLO) in the mesonic sector. We also present a complete calculation of the masses of the charged pseudoscalar mesons, in the supersymmetric formulation of PQ$χ$PT. Explicit analytical results are given for up to three nondegenerate sea quark flavors, along with the previously unpublished expression for the pseudoscalar meson decay constant for three nondegenerate sea quark flavors. The numerical analysis in this paper demonstrates that the cor…
We present a lattice NRQCD study of the B meson decay constant in the quenched approximation with emphasis given to the scaling behavior. The NRQCD action and the heavy-light axial current we use include all terms of order 1/M and the perturbative $O(α_s a)$ and $O(α_s/M)$ corrections. Using simulations at three value of couplings $β$=5.7, 5.9 and 6.1 on lattices of size $12^3\times 32, 16^3\times 48$ and $24^3\times 64$, we find no significant $a$ dependence in $f_B$ if the $O(α_s a)$ correction is included in the axial current. We obtain $f_B = 167(7)(15)$ MeV, $f_{B_s}= 191(4)(17)(^{+4}_{-0…
The results of a high-statistics study of scalar and pseudoscalar meson propagators in quenched lattice QCD are presented. For two values of lattice spacing, $β=5.7$ ($a \approx .18$ fm) and 5.9 ($a \approx .12$ fm), we probe the light quark mass region using clover improved Wilson fermions with the MQA pole-shifting ansatz to treat the exceptional configuration problem. The quenched chiral loop parameters $m_0$ and $α_Φ$ are determined from a study of the pseudoscalar hairpin correlator. From a global fit to the meson correlators, estimates are obtained for the relevant chiral Lagrangian para…
We compare the light hadron spectrum and decay constants for quenched QCD at $β=6.2$ using an $O(a)$-improved nearest-neighbour Wilson fermion action with those obtained using the standard Wilson fermion action on the same set of 18 gauge configurations. For pseudoscalar meson masses in the range 330--800~MeV, we find no significant difference between the results for the two actions. The scales obtained from the string tension and mesonic sector are consistent, but differ from that derived from baryon masses. The ratio of the pseudoscalar decay constant to the vector meson mass increases slowl…
We present new results from our ongoing study of flavor singlet pseudoscalar mesons in QCD. Our approach is based on (a) performing truncated eigenmode expansions for the hairpin diagram and (b) incorporating the ground state contribution for the connected meson propagator. First, we explain how the computations can be substantially improved by even-odd preconditioning. We extend previous results on early mass plateauing in the eta' channel of two-flavor full QCD with degenerate sea and valence quarks to the partially quenched situation. We find that early mass plateau formation persists in th…
The scalar, isovector meson propagator is analyzed in quenched QCD, using the MQA pole-shifting ansatz to study the chiral limit. In addition to the expected short-range exponential falloff characteristic of a heavy scalar meson, the propagator also exhibits a longer-range, negative metric contribution which becomes pronounced for smaller quark masses. We show that this is a quenched chiral loop effect associated with the anomalous structure of the $η'$ propagator in quenched QCD. Both the time dependence and the quark mass dependence of this effect are well-described by a chiral loop diagram …
We report on the results of our calculation of meson correlators in a finite volume. The calculation is carried out in the quenched approximation near the chiral limit (down to Mq = 2.6 MeV) using the overlap fermion. For these small quark masses, the scalar and pseudo-scalar correlators are well approximated with a few hundred eigenmodes. The results for both connected and disconnected correlators are compared with the theoretical predictions of quenched chiral perturbation theory.
We perform the non-perturbative (quenched) renormalization of the chromo-magnetic operator in Heavy Quark Effective Theory and its three-loop matching to QCD. At order 1/m of the expansion, the operator is responsible for the mass splitting between the pseudoscalar and vector B-mesons. These new computed factors are affected by an uncertainty negligible in comparison to the known bare matrix element of the operator between B-states. Furthermore, they push the quenched determination of the spin splitting for the Bs-meson much closer to its experimental value than the previous perturbatively ren…
Renormalization constants ($Z$-factors) of vector and axial-vector currents are determined non-perturbatively in quenched QCD for a renormalization group improved gauge action and a tadpole improved clover quark action using the Schrödinger functional method. Non-perturbative values of $Z$-factors turn out to be smaller than one-loop perturbative values by $O(15%)$ at lattice spacing of $a^{-1}\approx$ 1 GeV. The pseudoscalar and vector meson decay constants calculated with the non-perturbative $Z$-factors show a much better scaling behavior compared to previous results obtained with tadpole i…
We analyse the meson spectrum in quenched QCD using lattice gauge theory. By studying hadron propagation with a variety of operators (both smeared and local), we are able to extract the ground state and first excited state masses with confidence. We pay attention to the correlations among the data used in the fits to extract these masses and couplings. We compare the resulting hadron spectrum with experiment and find evidence for a significant departure in the pseudoscalar and vector meson masses.
