A model for the $\bar K d \to πY N$ reactions with $Y=Λ, Σ$ is developed, aiming at establishing the low-lying $Λ$ and $Σ$ hyperon resonances through analyzing the forthcoming data from the J-PARC E31 experiment. The off-shell amplitudes generated from the dynamical coupled-channels (DCC) model, which was developed in Kamano et al. [Phys. Rev. C 90, 065204 (2014)], are used as input to the calculations of the elementary $\bar K N \to \bar K N$ and $\bar K N \to πY$ subprocesses in the $\bar K d \to πY N$ reactions. It is shown that the cross sections for the J-PARC E31 experiment with a rather high incoming-$\bar{K}$ momentum, $|\vec p_{\bar K}|= 1$ GeV, can be predicted reliably only when the input $\bar K N \to \bar K N$ amplitudes are generated from a $\bar KN$ model, such as the DCC model used in this investigation, which describes the data of the $\bar K N$ reactions at energies far beyond the $\bar K N$ threshold. We find that the data of the threefold differential cross section $dσ/(dM_{πΣ}dΩ_{p_n})$ for the $K^- d \to πΣn$ reaction below the $\bar K N$ threshold can be used to test the predictions of the resonance poles associated with $Λ(1405)$. We also find that the momentum dependence of the threefold differential cross sections for the $K^- d \to π^- Λp$ reaction can be used to examine the existence of a low-lying $J^P=1/2^+$ $Σ$ resonance with a pole mass $M_R = 1457 -i39$ MeV, which was found from analyzing the $K^-p$ reaction data within the employed DCC model.
We report our recent effort for the extraction of resonance parameters (complex pole mass and residues etc.) associated with Lambda* and Sigma* hyperons. This was accomplished via a comprehensive partial-wave analysis of the data for K^- p --> barK N, pi Sigma, pi Lambda, eta Lambda, K Xi reactions from the thresholds up to W=2.1 GeV within a dynamical coupled-channels approach. The results suggest a possible existence of new narrow J^P=3/2^+ Λresonance with pole mass 1671^{+2}_{-8} -i(5^{+11}_{-2}) MeV, located close to the eta Lambda threshold. This resonance is found to be responsible for r…
The impurity effect of hyperon on atomic nuclei has received a renewed interest in nuclear physics since the first experimental observation of appreciable reduction of $E2$ transition strength in low-lying states of hypernucleus $^{7}_Λ$Li. Many more data on low-lying states of $Λ$ hypernuclei will be measured soon for $sd$-shell nuclei, providing good opportunities to study the $Λ$ impurity effect on nuclear low-energy excitations. We carry out a quantitative analysis of $Λ$ hyperon impurity effect on the low-lying states of $sd$-shell nuclei at the beyond-mean-field level based on a relativi…
[Background] The hyperon impurity effect in nuclei has been extensively studied in different mean-field models. Recently, there is a controversy about whether the $Λ$ hyperon is more tightly bound in the normal deformed (ND) states than that in the superdeformed (SD) states.[Purpose] This article is aimed to provide a beyond-mean-field study of the low-lying states of hypernuclei with shape coexistence and to shed some light on the controversy.[Method] The models of relativistic mean-field and beyond based on a relativistic point-coupling energy functional are adopted to study the low-lying st…
We extend the microscopic particle-rotor model for hypernuclear low-lying states by including the derivative and tensor coupling terms in the point-coupling nucleon-$Λ$ particle ($NΛ$) interaction. Taking $^{13}_{~Λ}$C as an example, we show that a good overall description for excitation spectra is achieved with four sets of effective $NΛ$ interaction. We find that the $Λ$ hyperon binding energy decreases monotonically with increasing the strengths of the high-order interaction terms. In particular, the tensor coupling term decreases the energy splitting between the first $1/2^-$ and $3/2^-$ s…
We present results for the helicity amplitudes of the lowest-lying hyperon resonances Y*, computed within the framework of the Bonn constituent-quark model, which is based on the Bethe-Salpeter approach. The seven parameters entering the model were fitted to the best known baryon masses. Accordingly, the results for the helicity amplitudes are genuine predictions. Some hyperon resonances are seen to couple more strongly to a virtual photon with finite Q^2 than to a real photon. Other Y*'s, such as the S_{01}(1670) Lambda resonance or the S_{11}(1620) Sigma resonance, couple very strongly to re…
Dalitz decays of a hyperon resonance to a ground-state hyperon and an electron-positron pair can give access to some information about the composite structure of hyperons. We present expressions for the multi-differential decay rates in terms of general transition form factors for spin-parity combinations J^P = 1/2^+/-, 3/2^+/- of the hyperon resonance. Even if the spin of the initial hyperon resonance is not measured, the self-analyzing weak decay of the "final" ground-state hyperon contains information about the relative phase between combinations of transition form factors. This relative ph…
We propose a novel method for low-lying states of hypernuclei based on the particle-rotor model, in which hypernuclear states are constructed by coupling the hyperon to low-lying states of the core nucleus. In contrast to the conventional particle-rotor model, we employ a microscopic approach for the core states, that is, the generator coordinate method (GCM) with the particle number and angular momentum projections. We apply this microscopic particle-rotor model to $^9_Λ$Be employing a point-coupling version of the relativistic mean-field Lagrangian. A reasonable agreement with the experiment…
We present a detailed formalism of the microscopic particle-rotor model for hypernuclear low-lying states based on a covariant density functional theory. In this method, the hypernuclear states are constructed by coupling a hyperon to low-lying states of the core nucleus, which are described by the generator coordinate method (GCM) with the particle number and angular momentum projections. We apply this method to study in detail the low-lying spectrum of $^{13}_{~Λ}$C and $^{21}_{~Λ}$Ne hypernuclei. We also briefly discuss the structure of $^{155}_{~~Λ}$Sm as an example of heavy deformed hyper…
We perform a coupled-channels study of the low-lying states in $^{13,15,17,19}_{~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Λ}$C with a covariant energy density functional based microscopic particle-core coupling model. The energy differences of $1/2^-$ and $3/2^-$ states in $^{13}_Λ$C and $^{15}_Λ$C are predicted to be 0.25 MeV and 0.34 MeV, respectively. We find that configuration mixings in the $1/2^-$ and $3/2^-$ states of $^{15}_Λ$C are the weakest among those of $^{13,15,17,19}_{~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Λ}$C. It indicates that $^{15}_Λ$C provides the best candidate among the carbon hypernuclei to study the spin-or…
Taking the hypernucleus $^{13}_{~Λ}$C as an example, we illustrate the miscroscopic particle-rotor model for low-lying spectra of hypernuclei. This approach is based on the beyond-mean-field method, with the particle number and angular momentum projections. The quantum fluctuation of the mean-field is also taken into account for the core nucleus using the generator coordinate method. We show that the impurity effect of $Λ$ hyperon, such as a change in $B(E2)$, is well described with this model. Our calculation indicates that the most important impurity effect in $sd$-shell hypernuclei is a cha…
A combined study of the reactions $K^-p\rightarrow Σ^0π^0$, $Λπ^0$ and $\bar{K}^0n$ at low energies is carried out with a chiral quark-model approach. Good descriptions of the experimental observations are obtained. The roles of the low-lying strangeness $S=-1$ hyperon resonances in these processes are carefully analyzed. We find that: (i) In the $K^-p\rightarrow Σ^0π^0$ process, both $Λ(1405)S_{01}$ and $Λ(1520)D_{03}$ play dominant roles. Significant contributions of $Λ(1670)S_{01}$ and $Λ(1690)D_{03}$ could be seen around their threshold; (ii) In the $K^-p\rightarrow Λπ^0$ process, some obv…
We apply the generator coordinate method (GCM) to single-$Λ$ hypernuclei in order to discuss the spectra of hypernuclear low-lying states. To this end, we use the same relativistic point-coupling energy functional both for the mean-field and the beyond-mean-field calculations. This relativistic GCM approach provides a unified description of low-lying states in ordinary nuclei and in hypernuclei, and is thus suitable for studying the $Λ$ impurity effect. We carry out an illustrative calculation for the low-lying spectrum of $^{21}_Λ$Ne, in which the interplay between the hypernuclear collective…
The s-wave meson-baryon interaction in the $S = -1$ sector is studied by means of coupled-channels, using the lowest-order chiral Lagrangian and the N/D method to implement unitarity. The loops are regularized using dimensional renormalization. In addition to the previously studied $Λ(1405)$, employing this chiral approach leads to the dynamical generation of two more s-wave hyperon resonances, the $Λ(1670)$ and $Σ(1620)$ states. We make comparisons with experimental data and look for poles in the complex plane obtaining the couplings of the resonances to the different final states. This allow…
Resonance parameters (pole masses and residues) associated with the excited states of hyperons, Lambda^* and Sigma^*, are extracted within a dynamical coupled-channels model developed recently by us [Phys. Rev. C 90, 065204 (2014)] through a comprehensive partial-wave analysis of the K^- p --> barK N, pi Sigma, pi Lambda, eta Lambda, K Xi data up to invariant mass W = 2.1 GeV. We confirm the existence of resonances corresponding to most, if not all, of the four-star resonances rated by the Particle Data Group. We also find several new resonances, and in particular propose a possible existence …
The photoproduction reaction $γN \to K K Ξ$ is investigated based on a relativistic meson-exchange model of hadronic interactions. The production amplitude is calculated in the tree-level approximation from relevant effective Lagrangians, whose (coupling constant) parameters are mostly fixed from the empirical data and/or quark models together with SU(3) symmetry considerations. Gauge invariance of the resulting amplitude is maintained by introducing the contact currents by extending the gauge-invariant approach of Haberzettl for one-meson photoproduction to two-meson photoproduction. The role…

The energies of the low-lying isoscalar and isovector ud anti-s anti-s configurations with spin-parity J^P=0^+, 1^+, and 2^+ are calculated in a non-relativistic constituent quark model by use of the variational method. The contributions of various parts of the quark-quark interacting potentials including the s-channel interaction are investigated, and the effect of different forms of confinement potential is examined. The model parameters are determined by the same method as in our previous work, and they still can satisfactorily describe the nucleon-nucleon scattering phase shifts and the hy…
