Weyl semimetal (WSM) is an exotic topological state in condensed matter physics. In this paper, based on a two-band cubic lattice model, we studied WSMs with a pair of tunable Weyl nodes. It is pointed out that there exist three types of WSMs with different tilt strengths: type-I WSM, type-II WSM and type-1.5 WSM. In particular, type-1.5 WSM has one type-I node and one type-II node. We studied chiral modes, surface Fermi arcs and quantum anomalous Hall effect in different types of WSMs. In addition, we give an experimental setup to realize the different types of WSMs based on timely technique.
Even if Weyl semimetals are characterized by quasiparticles with well-defined chirality, exploiting this experimentally is severely hampered by Weyl lattice-fermions coming in pairs with opposite chirality, typically causing the net chirality picked up by experimental probes to vanish. Here we show this issue can be circumvented in a controlled manner when both time-reversal- and inversion- symmetry are broken. To this end, we investigate chirality-disbalance in the carbide family RMC$_2$ (R a rare-earth and M a transition metal), showing several members to be Weyl semimetals. Using the noncen…
Weyl semimetals and nodal line semimetals are characterized by linear band touching at zero-dimensional points and one-dimensional lines, respectively. We predict that a circularly polarized light drives nodal line semimetals into Weyl semimetals. The Floquet Weyl points thus obtained are tunable by the incident light, which enables investigations of them in a highly controllable manner. The transition from nodal line semimetals to Weyl semimetals is accompanied by the emergence of a large and tunable anomalous Hall conductivity. Our predictions are experimentally testable by transport measure…
Weyl semimetals are a three dimensional gapless topological phase in which bands intersect at arbitrary points -- the Weyl nodes -- in the Brillouin zone. These points carry a topological quantum number known as the \emph{chirality} and always appear in pairs of opposite chiralities. The notion of chirality leads to anomalous non-conservation of chiral charge, known as the \emph{chiral anomaly}, according to which charge can be pumped between Weyl nodes of opposite chiralities by an electromagnetic field with non-zero $\boldsymbol{E}\cdot\boldsymbol{B}$. Here, we propose probing the chiral ano…
The interplay between magnetism and topological band structure offers extraordinary opportunities to realize rich exotic magnetic topological phases such as axion insulators, Weyl semimetals, and quantum anomalous Hall insulators, which therefore has attracted fast growing research interest. The rare-earth hexaborides EuB6 represents an interesting magnetic topological phase with tunable magnetizations along different crystallographic directions, while the correlation with the topological properties remains scarcely explored. In this work, combining magnetotransport measurements and first prin…
Kagome magnets provide a fascinating platform for a plethora of topological quantum phenomena. Here, utilizing angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy, we demonstrate Weyl lines with strong out-of-plane dispersion in an A-A stacked kagome magnet TbxGd1-xMn6Sn6. On the Gd rich side, the Weyl line remains nearly spin-orbit-gapless due to a remarkable cooperative interplay between Kane-Mele spin-orbit-coupling, low site symmetry and in-plane magnetic order. Under Tb substitution, the kagome Weyl line gaps due to a magnetic reorientation to out-of-plane order. Our results illustrate the magnetic…
The noncentrosymmetric ferromagnetic Weyl semimetal CeAlSi with simultaneous space-inversion (SI) and time-reversal (TR) symmetry breaking provides a unique platform for the exploration of novel topological states. Here, by employing electrical and thermoelectrical transport, angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES), high-pressure techniques, and band calculations, we demonstrate that magnetism and pressure can serve as efficient parameters to tune the positions of Weyl nodes in CeAlSi. At ambient pressure, an anomalous Hall effect (AHE) and an anomalous Nernst effect (ANE) arise in t…
The dispersion relations of magnons in ferromagnetic pyrochlores with Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction is shown to possess Weyl points, i.\,e., pairs of topological nontrivial crossings of two magnon branches with opposite topological charge. As a consequence of their topological nature, their projections onto a surface are connected by magnon arcs, thereby resembling closely Fermi arcs of electronic Weyl semimetals. On top of this, the positions of the Weyl points in reciprocal space can be tuned widely by an external magnetic field: rotated within the surface plane, the Weyl points and magn…
Strong coupling between discrete phonon and continuous electron-hole pair excitations can give rise to a pronounced asymmetry in the phonon line shape, known as the Fano resonance. This effect has been observed in a variety of systems, such as stripe-phase nickelates, graphene and high-$T_{c}$ superconductors. Here, we reveal explicit evidence for strong coupling between an infrared-active $A_1$ phonon and electronic transitions near the Weyl points (Weyl fermions) through the observation of a Fano resonance in the recently discovered Weyl semimetal TaAs. The resultant asymmetry in the phonon …
We theoretically study the electromagnetic response of type-I and type-II centrosymmetric Weyl semimetals. We derive an anisotropic permittivity tensor with off-diagonal elements to describe such gyrotropic media. Our findings reveal that for appropriate Weyl cones tilts, the real part of the transverse component of the permittivity can exhibit an epsilon-near-zero response. The tilt parameter can also control the amount of loss in the medium, ranging from lossless to dissipative when transitioning from type-I to type-II. Similarly, by tuning either the frequency of the electromagnetic field o…
Dynamics and textures of magnetic domain walls (DWs) may largely alter the electronic behaviors in a Weyl semimetal system via emergent gauge fields. However, very little is known about even the basic properties of these domain walls in Weyl materials. In this work, we imaged the spontaneous magnetization and magnetic susceptibility of a ferromagnetic (FM) Weyl semimetal CeAlSi using scanning SQUID microscopy. We observed the ferromagnetic DWs lined-up with the [100] direction (or other degenerate directions). We also discovered the coexistence of stable and metastable domain phases, which ari…
We investigate the pressure evolution of the anomalous Hall effect in magnetic topological semimetal Co3Sn2S2 in diamond anvil cells with pressures up to 44.9-50.9 GPa. No evident trace of structural phase transition is detected through synchrotron x-ray diffraction over the measured pressure range of 0.2-50.9 GPa. We find that the anomalous Hall resistivity and the ferromagnetism are monotonically suppressed as increasing pressure and almost vanish around 22 GPa. The anomalous Hall conductivity varies non-monotonically against pressure at low temperatures, involving competition between origin…
We exploit topological semi-metallic phases resulting from the Kondo screening in Anderson lattice models. It is shown that by including spin-orbit interactions both in the bulk electrons and in the hybridization between the conduction electrons and electrons in $f$ orbit, all types of topological semi-metallic phases can be realized in Anderson lattice models. Specifically, upon either time-reversal symmetry broken or inversion symmetry broken, we find that either Weyl semi-metallic phase, Dirac semi-metallic phase or nodal-ring semi-metallic phases always emerge between insulating phases and…
Combining magnetism with band topology provides various novel phases that are otherwise impossible. Among several cases, noncollinear metallic antiferromagnets can reveal particularly rich topological physics due to their diverse magnetic ground states. However, there are only a few experimental studies due to the lack of suitable materials, especially with triangular lattice antiferromagnets. Here, we report that metallic triangular antiferromagnet Co1/3TaS2 exhibits a substantial anomalous Hall effect (AHE) related to its noncollinear magnetic order. Our first-principles calculations found t…
When a Dirac semimetal is subject to a circularly polarized laser, it is predicted that the Dirac cone splits into two Weyl nodes and a nonequilibrium transient state called the Floquet Weyl semimetal is realized. We focus on the previously unexplored low-frequency regime, where the upper and lower Dirac bands resonantly couple with each other through multi-photon processes, which is a realistic situation in solid state ultrafast pump-probe experiments. We find a series of new Weyl nodes emerging in pairs when the Floquet replica bands hybridize with each other. The nature of the Floquet Weyl …
We show that a heavy fermion superconductor UPt_3 is a topological Weyl superconductor with tunable Weyl nodes. Adopting a generic order parameter in the E_2u representation allowed by nonsymmorphic crystal symmetry, we clarify unusual gap structure and associated topological properties. The pair creation, pair annihilation, and coalescence of Weyl nodes are demonstrated in the time-reversal symmetry broken B-phase. At most 98 point nodes compatible with Blount's theorem give rise to line node-like behaviors in low-energy excitations, consistent with experimental results. We also show an arc n…

We report on the realization of a quantum degenerate atomic Fermi gas in an optical lattice. Fermi surfaces of noninteracting fermions are studied in a three-dimensional lattice. Using a Feshbach resonance, we observe a coupling of the Bloch bands in the strongly interacting regime.
