The crucial parameter of the current Monte Carlo models of high energy hadron-hadron interaction is the transverse momentum cutoff $p_{T0}$ for parton-parton interactions which slowly grows with energy and regularizes the cross section. This modification of the collinear factorization formula goes beyond the leading power and thus a natural question arises if such cutoff can be extracted from a formalism which takes into account power corrections. In this work, we consider the High Energy Factorization (HEF) valid at small $x$ and a new model, based on a similar principle to HEF, which in addition has a limit respecting the Dokshitzer-Dyakonov-Troyan formula for the dijet momentum disbalance spectrum. Minijet cross section and its suppression is then analyzed in two ways. First, we study minijets directly in the low-$p_T$ region, and demonstrate that higher twist corrections do generate suppression of the inclusive jet production cross section though these effects are not leading to the increase of the cutoff with incident energy. Second, we consider hard inclusive dijet production where Multi Parton Interactions (MPIs) with minijets produce power corrections. We introduce an observable constructed from differential cross section in the ratio $τ$ of dijet disbalance to the average dijet $p_T$ and demonstrate that the $τ>1$ region is sensitive to the cutoff $p_{T0}$ in the MPI minijet models. The energy dependence of the cutoff is reflected in the energy dependence of the bimodality coefficient $b$ of the $τ$ distribution. We compare $b$ calculated from $\mathsf{pythia}$, where one can conveniently control MPIs by the program parameters, and HEF for a few unintegrated gluon distributions (UGDs). We find that the energy dependence of $b$ is very sensitive to the particular choice of UGD and in some models it resembles predictions of the Monte Carlo models.
We discuss expectations for the total and inelastic cross-sections at LHC CM energies $\sqrt{s}\ =\ 7\ TeV$ {and $ 14\ TeV$} obtained in an eikonal minijet model augmented by soft gluon $k_t$-resummation, which we describe in some detail. We present a band of predictions which encompass recent LHC data and suggest that the inelastic cross-section described by two channel eikonal models include only uncorrelated processes. We show that this interpretation of the model is supported by the LHC data.
We discuss Contur's different modes by studying a leptophobic Top-Colour (TC) model. We use, for the first time, higher order calculations for both the signal (NLO) and the background (up to NNLO). We compare the results between the different approaches of Contur. Furthermore, we compare these results to the ones coming from a direct search.
In this talk I review how to identify cosmic ray accelerators that are high energy neutrino emitters. I also delineate the prospects for a new multi-particle astronomy: neutrons as directional pointers + antineutrinos as inheritors of directionality.
The $HZγ$ coupling, which is highly sensitive to the new physics beyond the standard model, is studied through the process $pp\rightarrow pγp\rightarrow pHX$ at the LHC. To this purpose, an effective Lagrangian, in a model independent approach, with dimension six operators is considered in this paper. New interaction terms regarding beyond the standard model physics include the Higgs boson anomalous vertices in both CP-even and CP-odd structures. A detailed numerical analysis is performed to scrutinize the accurate constraints on the effective $HZγ$ couplings and to discuss how far the corresp…
We study the phenomenology of neutrino decay together with neutrino oscillations in the context of eV-scale sterile neutrinos. We review the formalism of visible neutrino decay in which one of the decay products is a neutrino that potentially can be observed. We apply the formalism developed for decay to the recent sterile neutrino search performed by IceCube with TeV neutrinos. We show that for $ν_4$ lifetime $τ_4/m_4 \lesssim 10^{-16} {\rm eV^{-1}s}$, the interpretation of the high-energy IceCube analysis can be significantly changed.
We propose a method to ease the challenges of exploring multi-dimensional parameter spaces in beyond-the-Standard Model theories. We evaluate the model likelihood for any choice of parameters by sampling the theory parameters intelligently and building a Kernel Density Estimator. By reducing the number of expensive Monte-Carlo simulations, this method provides a more efficient way to test complex theories. We illustrate our technique to set new limits on a short-lived heavy neutrino $N$, proposed as an explanation of anomalies in neutrino experiments. Using a search for lepton pairs in the T2K…
Investigation of well-motivated parameter space in the theories of Beyond the Standard Model (BSM) plays an important role in new physics discoveries. However, a large-scale exploration of models with multi-parameter or equivalent solutions with a finite separation, such as supersymmetric models, is typically a time-consuming and challenging task. In this paper, we propose a self-exploration method, named Machine Learning Scan (MLS), to achieve an efficient test of models. As a proof-of-concept, we apply MLS to investigate the subspace of MSSM and CMSSM and find that such a method can reduce t…
Axion-like particles (ALPs) are interesting dark matter candidates both from the theoretical as well as from the experimental perspective. Usually they are motivated as pseudo-Nambu-Goldstone bosons. In this case one of their most important features is that their coupling to other particles is suppressed by a large scale, the vacuum expectation value of the field breaking the symmetry that gives rise to them. This naturally endows them with very weak interactions but also restricts the maximal field value and therefore the regions where sufficient dark matter is produced. In this paper we inve…

In this thesis we try to discuss certain phenomenological aspects of an R-parity violating non-minimal supersymmetric model, called $μν$SSM. We show that $μν$SSM can provide a solution to the $μ$-problem of supersymmetry and can simultaneously accommodate the existing three flavour global data from neutrino experiments even at the tree level with the simple choice of flavour diagonal neutrino Yukawa couplings. We show that it is also possible to achieve different mass hierarchies for light neutrinos at the tree level itself. In $μν$SSM, the effect of R-parity violation together with a seesaw m…
We discuss in detail a method to study transverse momentum dependent parton distribution functions (TMDs) using lattice QCD. To develop the formalism and to obtain first numerical results, we directly implement a bi-local quark-quark operator connected by a straight Wilson line, allowing us to study T-even, "process-independent" TMDs. Beyond results for x-integrated TMDs and quark densities, we present a study of correlations in x and transverse momentum. Our calculations are based on domain wall valence quark propagators by the LHP collaboration calculated on top of gauge configurations provi…
We study momentum distributions of the final-state charged lepton in ppbar/pp --> ttbar --> l^+ X (l=e or mu) at hadron colliders, i.e., Tevatron and Large Hadron Collider (LHC) in order to explore possible new-physics effects in the top-quark sector. Assuming general model-independent ttbar g + ttbar gg and tbW interactions beyond the standard model, we first derive analytical formulas for the corresponding parton-parton processes. We then compute the lepton angular, energy and transverse-momentum distributions in ppbar/pp collisions to clarify how they are affected by those anomalous couplin…
Exploring the extent of model dependence, we study effects of certain Ansaetze for the T-dependence of the correction term in the QCD topological susceptibility. The one producing unwanted effects on results at T > 0 in the eta'-eta complex in the usual limit of isospin symmetry, is largely cured from its peculiar behavior and brought into agreement with the other, when breaking of isospin symmetry is allowed and the realistic quark mass ratio m_u/m_d = 0.50 is adopted.
Constraining Beyond the Standard Model theories usually involves scanning highly multi-dimensional parameter spaces and check observable predictions against experimental bounds and theoretical constraints. Such task is often timely and computationally expensive, especially when the model is severely constrained and thus leading to very low random sampling efficiency. In this work we tackled this challenge using Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning search algorithms used for Black-Box optimisation problems. Using the cMSSM and the pMSSM parameter spaces, we consider both the Higgs mass …
