We consider scenarios of warped extra-dimensions with all matter fields in the bulk and in which both the hierarchy and the flavor puzzles of the Standard Model are addressed. The simplest extra dimensional extension of the Standard Model Higgs sector, i.e a 5D bulk Higgs doublet, can be a natural and simple explanation to the 750 GeV excess of diphotons hinted at the LHC, with the resonance responsible for the signal being the lightest CP odd excitation coming from the Higgs sector. No new matter content is invoked, the only new ingredient being the presence of (positive) brane localized kinetic terms associated to the 5D bulk Higgs, which allow to reduce the mass of the lightest CP odd Higgs excitation to 750 GeV. Production and decay of this resonance can naturally fit the observed signal when the mass scale of the rest of extradimensional resonances is of order 1 TeV.
Based on Ref.1, we introduce a model with an isospin symmetric Higgs boson and study the properties of this particle, including the enhancement of its diphoton decay rate. The predictions of the model relevant for future experiments are also discussed.
We examine the implication of the 750 GeV diphoton resonance on the two-Higgs-doublet model imposing various theoretical and experimental constraints. The production rate of two-Higgs-doublet model is smaller than the cross section observed at the LHC by two order magnitude. In order to accommodate the 750 GeV diphoton resonance, we extend the two-Higgs-doublet model by introducing additional Higgs fields, and focus on two different extensions, an inert complex Higgs triplet and a real scalar septuplet. With the 125 GeV Higgs being agreement with the observed data, the production rate for the …
In the context of gauge-Higgs unification scenario in a 5-dimensional flat spacetime, we investigate Higgs boson production via gluon fusion and its diphoton decay mode at the LHC. We show that the signal strength of the Higgs diphoton decay mode observed at ATLAS and CMS, which is considerably larger than the Standard Model expectation, can be explained by a simple gauge-Higgs unification model with color-singlet bulk fermions to which a half-periodic boundary condition is assigned. The bulk fermions also play a crucial role in reproducing the observed Higgs boson mass around 125 GeV.
We study the contribution of the antisymmetric tensor unparticle mediation to the diphoton production rate of the Higgs boson and try to explain the discrepancy between the measured value of the decay width of the discovered new resonance and that of the standard model Higgs boson. We observe that tree level contribution of the antisymmetric unparticle mediation is a possible candidate to explain the measured value of the diphoton decay rate.
We explore the Higgs couplings to gauge bosons in the minimal $SO(5)/SO(4)$ 4D composite Higgs model. The pions scatterings put unitary constraints on the couplings and therefore determine the branch ratios of various Higgs decays. Through fine tuning the parameters, enhancement of Higgs to diphoton rate is possible to be achieved with the existence of vector meson fields.
In the quasi-inert Higgs doublet model, we study the LHC diphoton rate for a standard model-like Higgs boson and the top quark forward-backward asymmetry at Tevatron. Taking into account the constraints from the vacuum stability, unitarity, electroweak precision tests, flavor physics and the related experimental data of top quark, we find that compared with the standard model prediction, the diphoton rate of Higgs boson at LHC can be enhanced due to the light charged Higgs contributions, while the measurement of the top quark forward-backward asymmetry at Tevatron can be explained to within $1…
We investigate a possibility if a loop diagram via Higgsino can enhance the Higgs to diphoton decay width in supersymmetric models with an extension of Higgs sector. A model with an additional non-renormalizable term of Higgs fields is firstly analyzed where the higher order term can introduce the Higgs coupling to Higgsinos as well as charged Higgs bosons. We point out that a choice of the Higgs coupling to obtain a significant size of enhancement of diphoton decay width reduces the Higgs mass and/or a size of non-renormalizable term needs to be large and a cutoff scale is around the weak sca…
The ATLAS and CMS collaborations discovered a new boson particle. If the new boson is the Higgs boson, the diphoton signal strength is 1.5 - 1.8 times larger than the Standard Model (SM) prediction, while the WW and ZZ signal strengths are in agreement with the SM one. In the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM), overall consistency can be achieved by a light stau and the large left-right mixing of staus. However, a light stau and large left-right mixing of staus may suffer from vacuum instability. We first apply the vacuum meta-stability condition to the Higgs to diphoton decay rate i…
Recent results on Higgs searches at the LHC point towards the existence of a Higgs boson with mass of about 126 GeV whose diphoton decay rate tends to be larger than in the Standard Model. These results are in tension with natural MSSM scenarios: such a Higgs mass requires heavy (third-generation) squarks which reintroduce some amount of fine-tuning and in general the Higgs diphoton decay rate tends to follow the Standard Model result. In this paper we prove that these problems can be alleviated by introducing an extra supersymmetric triplet coupled to the Higgs in the superpotential. This sup…
NMSSM with a light singlet-like scalar and strongly suppressed couplings to $b$ and $τ$ is investigated. It is shown that in such a scenario the singlet-like scalar to diphoton signal can be larger than for the SM Higgs for a wide range of masses between 60 and 110 GeV, in agreement with all the LEP and LHC data. Enhancement of the singlet-like scalar to diphoton signal is correlated with positive correction to the SM-like Higgs mass from mixing between SM-like Higgs and the singlet. It is also shown that the couplings to $b$ and $τ$ and, in consequence, branching ratios of the SM-like Higgs a…
Using the left-right symmetric model as an illustrative example, we suggest a simple and straightforward way of constraining the $W'$ mass directly from the decay of the Higgs boson to two photons. The proposed method is generic and applicable to a diverse range of models with a $W'$-boson that couples to the SM-like Higgs boson. Our analysis exemplifies how the precision measurement of the Higgs to diphoton signal strength can have a pivotal role in probing the scale of new physics.
In the context of gauge-Higgs unification scenario in a 5-dimensional flat spacetime, we investigate Higgs boson production via gluon fusion and its diphoton and Z gamma decay modes at the LHC. We show that the signal strength of the Higgs diphoton decay mode observed at ATLAS (and CMS), which is considerably larger than the Standard Model expectation, can be explained by a simple gauge-Higgs unification model with color-singlet bulk fermions to which a half-periodic boundary condition is assigned. The bulk fermions with mass at the TeV scale also play a crucial role in reproducing the observe…
It is shown that the 750 GeV diphoton excess can be explained in extensions of Two-Higgs-Doublet Models that do not involve large multiplicities of new electromagnetically charged states. The key observation is that at moderate and large $\tanβ$ the total decay width of the 750 GeV Higgs is strongly reduced as compared to the Standard Model. This allows for much more economical choices of new states that enhance the diphoton signal to fit the data. In particular, it is shown that one family of vector-like quarks and leptons with SM charges is enough to explain the 750 GeV diphoton excess. More…
We study the viability of electroweak baryogenesis in a two Higgs doublet model scenario augmented by vector-like, electroweakly interacting fermions. Considering a limited, but illustrative region of the model parameter space, we obtain the observed cosmic baryon asymmetry while satisfying present constraints from the non-observation of the permanent electric dipole moment (EDM) of the electron and the combined ATLAS and CMS result for the Higgs boson diphoton decay rate. The observation of a non-zero electron EDM in a next generation experiment and/or the observation of an excess (over the S…
The LHC diphoton excess 750 GeV is discussed in a string-inspired standard-like model. Precisely, a singlet scalar-extended SM from a vacua of four stacks of intersecting D6-branes giving rise to a large gauge symmetry is considered. Besides its relevant couplings to the SM sector, the involved scales allow for a scalar mass near to the reported diphoton excess.
LHC results do not confirm conventional natural solutions to the Higgs mass hierarchy problem, motivating alternative interpretations where a hierarchically small weak scale is generated from a dimension-less quantum dynamics. We propose weakly and strongly-coupled models where the field that breaks classical scale invariance giving mass to itself and to the Higgs is identified with a possible new resonance within the LHC reach. As an example, we identify such resonance with the 750 GeV diphoton excess recently reported by ATLAS and CMS. Such models can be extrapolated up to the Planck scale, …
We study constraints from perturbativity and vacuum stability as well as the EWPD in the type II seesaw model. As a result, we can put stringent limits on the Higgs triplet couplings depending on the cut-off scale. The EWPD tightly constrain the Higgs triplet mass splitting to be smaller than about 40 GeV. Analyzing the Higgs-to-diphoton rate in the allowed parameter region, we show how much it can deviate from the Standard Model prediction for specific parameter points.
Recently, the CMS and ATLAS collaborations have reported a diphoton peak at 750 GeV in the RunII of LHC at 13 TeV. We assume that the heavy fourth generation quark doublet $z,~y$ with $380 $GeV mass, and the width of $z,t$ is much less $b$ quark. Then we show that the contributions of the $(z \bar z+y \bar y)/\sqrt{2}$ bound state $η_{zy}(1S)$ to the diphoton measurements through $σ(pp\to η_{zy}(1s)\to γγ) $ are $ 5.6^{+5.6}_{-2.8} {\rm fb}$ at $\sqrt S=13$ TeV. They are constant with the 750 GeV diphoton excess measured by the CMS ant ATLAS collaborations.
We study constraints from perturbativity and vacuum stability as well as the EWPD in the type II seesaw model. As a result, we can put stringent limits on the Higgs triplet couplings depending on the cut-off scale. The EWPD tightly constrain the Higgs triplet mass splitting to be smaller than 40 GeV. Analyzing the Higgs-to-diphoton rate in the allowed parameter region, we show a possible enhancement by up to 100 % and 50 % for the cut-off scale of 100 TeV and $10^{19}$ GeV, respectively, if the doubly charged Higgs boson mass is as low as 100 GeV.
We present the full ${\cal O}(\as^2)$ computation of the interference effects between the Higgs diphoton signal and the continuum background at the LHC. While the main contribution to the interference originates on the $gg$ partonic subprocess, we find that the corrections from the $qg$ and $q\bar{q}$ channels amount up to 35% of it. We discuss the effect of these new subprocesses in the shift of the diphoton invariant mass peak recently reported by S. Martin in Ref.\cite{Martin:2012xc}.
The supersymmetric type II seesaw may leave a limit where a triplet boson along with the standard Higgs boson remains light. Working in this limit with small triplet vacuum expectation vlaues, we explore how much such a light triplet boson can contribute to the Higgs boson decay to diphoton, and analyze the feasibility to observe it through same-sign di-lepton and tetra-lepton signals in the forthcoming LHC run after setting a LHC7 limit in a simplified parameter space of the triplet vaccum expectation value and the doubly charged boson mass.
We propose an supersymmetric explanation of the diphoton excess in the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model with the leptonic R-parity violation. Where the sneutrino serves as the 750 GeV resonance and produced through quark anti-quark annihilation. With introducing appropriate trilinear soft parameters, we show that the diphoton branching ratio is significantly enhanced compared with the conventional MSSM. The parameter space favored by diphoton excess strongly indicates the mass of smuon and stau fall into the range $375-410$ (375-480) GeV, which depending on the electroweakino masses. In a…
The recent data from ATLAS and CMS hint at a new resonance at around 750 GeV in the diphoton invariant mass distribution. The explanation of the significantly large cross section for this diphoton resonance requires coloured particles in its loop-induced production via gluon fusion and subsequent decay to diphoton. A natural candidate for the coloured particle is the colour-triplet leptoquark, lying in the mass range 375-1000 GeV, which can account for such large cross section. The leptoquarks in this mass range can also be produced resonantly from neutrino and quark interactions at IceCube an…
We estimate the attainable limits on the coupling of a non-standard Higgs boson to two photons taking into account the data collected by the Fermilab collaborations on diphoton events. We based our analysis on a general set of dimension--6 effective operators that give rise to anomalous couplings in the bosonic sector of the Standard Model. If the coefficients of all ``blind'' operators are of the same order of magnitude, bounds on the anomalous triple vector-boson couplings can also be obtained.
We study the implications of the LHC Higgs signals on the Higgs mixing in the next-to-minimal supersymmetric standard model (NMSSM). The Higgs couplings can depart from their values in the standard model (SM) due to mixing effects. However the Higgs signal rate in the WW and ZZ channels can remain close to the SM values, as observed at the LHC, even if the SM-like Higgs boson with a mass near 125 GeV has a large singlet component. This allows to get a sizable enhancement in the Higgs to diphoton rate through the charged-higgsino loop contribution, as well as a sizable reduction of the Higgs to…
In this paper, we interpret the 750 GeV diphoton excess in the Zee-Babu extension of the two-Higgs-doublet model by introducing a top partner ($T$)/bottom partner ($B$). In the alignment limit, the 750 GeV resonance is identified as the heavy CP-even Higgs boson ($H$), which can be sizably produced via the QCD process $pp \to T\bar{T}$ or $pp \to B\bar{B}$ followed by the decay $T\to Ht$ or $B \to Hb$. The diphoton decay rate of $H$ is greatly enhanced by the charged singlet scalars predicted in the Zee-Babu extension and the total width of $H$ can be as large as 7 GeV. Under the current LHC c…
We show that weak scale vector-like fermions with order one couplings to the Higgs can lead to a novel mechanism for a strongly first-order electroweak phase transition (EWPhT), through their tendency to drive the Higgs quartic coupling negative. These same fermions could also enhance the loop-induced branching fraction of the Higgs into two photons, as suggested by the recent discovery of a ~125 GeV Higgs-like state at the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC). Our results suggest that measurements of the diphoton decay rate of the Higgs and its self coupling, at the LHC or perhaps at a future lep…
We discuss a possible explanation of the recently observed diphoton excess at around 750 GeV as seen by the ATLAS and CMS experiments at the Large Hadron Collider. We calculate the cross section of the diphoton signature in 2-Higgs Doublet Models with the addition of a real isospin scalar multiplet without a vacuum expectation value, where a neutral component of such a representation can be a dark matter candidate. We find that the branching fraction of an additional CP-even Higgs boson $H$ from the doublet fields into the diphoton mode can be significantly enhanced, by up to a factor of $10^3…
Interpreting the diphoton mass excesses near 750~GeV reported by ATLAS and CMS as pseudoscalar gluinonia, bound states of two gluinos, we perform a scan in Next-to-Minimal Supersymmetry parameter space, fixing $m_{\tilde{g}}\approx 380$~GeV and identifying an experimentally viable point. We generate events with this point, perform fast simulation, and carry out an analysis modeled on the ATLAS search which reproduces features of the diphoton excess. This interpretation requires an enhancement of the signal strength above the nominal rate found in the literature and neglecting the gaugino mass …
The excess of top quark forward-backward asymmetry ($A^t_{FB}$) reported by the Tevatron and the enhancement of the Higgs decay to diphoton observed by the LHC may point to a same origin of new physics. In this note we examined such anomalies in the two-Higgs-doublet model with a color-triplet scalar. We found that under current experimental constraints this model can simultaneously explain both anomalies at $1σ$ level. Also, we examined the Higgs decay $h\to Zγ$ and displayed its correlation with $h\to γγ$. We found that unlike other models, this model predicts a special correlation between $…
Motivated by the recent diphoton excess reported by both the ATLAS and CMS collaborations, we provide a model-independent combination of diphoton results obtained at $\sqrt{s}=8$ and 13 TeV at the LHC. We consider resonant s-channel production of a spin-0 and spin-2 particle with a mass of 750 GeV that subsequently decays to two photons. The size of the excess reported by ATLAS appears to be in slight tension with other measurements under the spin-2 particle hypothesis.
A simple variant of a realistic flavour symmetry scheme for fermion masses and mixings provides a possible interpretation of the diphoton anomaly as an electroweak singlet "flavon". The existence of TeV scale vector-like T-quarks required to provide adequate values for CKM parameters can also naturally account for the diphoton anomaly. Correlations between $V_{ub}$ and $V_{cb}$ with the vector-like T-quark mass can be predicted. Should the diphoton anomaly survive in a future Run, our proposed interpretation can also be tested in upcoming B and LHC studies.
The ATLAS and the CMS collaborations have presented results which show an excess of the Higgs to diphoton decay channel. In the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM), this situation can be achieved by a light stau and a large left-right mixing of the staus. However, this parameter region is severely constrained by vacuum stability. In order to relax the vacuum meta-stability condition, we focus on the parameter region where the mass difference between the two staus is large. This region has not been considered yet. In this paper, we show that staus with a large mass difference can relax…
The Large Hadron Collider has recently discovered a Higgs-like particle having a mass around 125 GeV and also indicated that there is an enhancement in the Higgs to diphoton decay rate as compared to that in the standard model. We have studied implications of these discoveries in the bilinear R-parity violating supersymmetric model, whose main motivation is to explain the non-zero masses for neutrinos. The R-parity violating parameters in this model are $ε$ and $b_ε$, and these parameters determine the scale of neutrino masses. If the enhancement in the Higgs to diphoton decay rate is true, th…
We study the implications of a possible unstable particle with mass $M_X<$ TeV for the Higgs stability, naturalness and inflation. We pay particular attention to the case $M_X\approx$ 750 GeV, suggested by recent results of ATLAS and CMS on diphoton final states, and work within the minimal model: we add to the Standard Model field content a pseudoscalar and a vector-like fermion carrying both color and electric charge. This can stabilize the electroweak vacuum without invoking new physics at very high energies, which would give an unnaturally large contribution to the Higgs mass. We also show…
We propose to interpret the 750 GeV diphoton excess in deflected anomaly mediation supersymmetry breaking scenarios, which can naturally predict couplings between a singlet field and vector-like messengers. The CP-even scalar component (S) of the singlet field can serve as the 750 GeV resonance. The messenger scale, which is of order the gravitino scale, can be as light as F_ϕ\sim {\cal O}(10) TeV when the messenger species N_F and the deflection parameter d are moderately large. Such messengers can induce the large loop decay process S \to γγ. Our results show that such a scenario can success…
We propose that the sbino, the scalar partner of a Dirac bino can explain the 750 GeV diphoton excess observed by ATLAS and CMS . We analyze a model in which the sbino couples to pairs of Standard Model (SM) gauge bosons. We analyze an effective operator model, as well as a completion in which the sbino couples to pairs of gauge bosons through loops of heavy sfermions. We find that the sbino may be given an appreciable decay width through tree level coupling in the Higgs or Higgsino sector and additionally fit the 750 GeV excess by considering gluon fusion processes with decay to diphotons.
The detection and the measurement of the production cross section of a light Higgs boson at the CERN Large Hadron Collider demand the accurate prediction of the background distributions of photon pairs. To improve this theoretical prediction, we present the soft-gluon resummed calculation of the $p p \to γγX$ cross section, including the exact one loop $g g \to γγg$ contribution. By incorporating the known fixed order results and the leading terms in the higher order corrections, the resummed cross section provides a reliable prediction for the inclusive diphoton invariant mass and transverse …
We examine the observed diphoton excess at 750 GeV in the framework of constrained Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (cMSSM). The consistency of cMSSM with the discovery of a 125 GeV Higgs boson and PLANCK/WMAP data for dark matter relic density (RD) demands large mixing in the scalar top (stop) sector and consequently, the existence of a light stop quasi-degenerate with the lightest neutralino. Small decay width due to kinematic and loop suppression of such a stop allows for the existence of stop-antistop bound states (stoponia). Identifying the particular part of cMSSM parameter space co…
Numerous experiments currently underway offer the potential to indirectly probe new charged particles with masses at the weak scale. For example, the tentative excess in Higgs diphoton decay and the tentative gamma-ray line in Fermi-LAT data have recently attracted attention as possible one-loop signatures of new charged particles. We explore the interplay between such signals, dark matter direct detection through Higgs exchange, and measurements of the electron EDM, by studying the size of these effects in several models. We compute one-loop effects to explore the relationship among couplings…
In this paper we simultaneously explain the excesses of the 750 GeV diphoton, muon g-2 and $h\to μτ$ in an extension of the two-Higgs-doublet model (2HDM) with additional vector-like fermions and a CP-odd scalar singlet ($P$) which is identified as the 750 GeV resonance. This 750 GeV resonance has a mixing with the CP-odd scalar ($A$) in 2HDM, which leads to a coupling between $P$ and the SM particles as well as a coupling between $A$ and the vector-like fermions. Such a mixing and couplings are strongly constrained by $τ\toμγ$, muon g-2 and the 750 GeV diphoton data. We scan over the paramete…
The excess seen in the diphoton channel at around 750 GeV by both ATLAS and CMS has caused a great deal of excitement in the particle physics community. However, there has recently been much discussion about uncertainties in the significance of the peak seen by the ATLAS experiment. In this note, we aim to estimate this significance using a range of possible parametrisations for the smooth diphoton background. We obtain a local significance close to that reported by ATLAS and further demonstrate that the significance of the excess is not substantially reduced when more complicated background f…
The ATLAS and CMS experiments at LHC observe small excesses of diphoton events with invariant mass around 750 GeV. Here we study the possibility of nearly parity degenerate and vector-scalar degenerate spectra as well as composite dynamics in 2 scenarios for explaining the excess: Production of a pseudo-scalar via gluon or photon fusion or via decay of a parent particle together with soft additional final states. We discuss possible underlying realizations of the scenarios motivated by dynamical models of electroweak symmetry breaking (without new coloured states) and fermion masses.
We propose a theoretical justification for the anomalous Higgs couplings without extending the particle content of the Standard Model, but rather assuming different realization of the electroweak symmetry and the representation of the Higgs field. Namely, the electroweak symmetry in our model is non-linearly realised with the Higgs field residing in the singlet representation of the electroweak gauge group. Within this framework we identify the simplest scenario with CP-violating Higgs-top coupling which explains the enhanced rate of $h\toγγ$, while the Higgs production cross section is unaffe…
The recently reported diphoton excess at the LHC may imply the existence of a new resonance with a mass of about 750 GeV which couples to photons via loops of new charged particles. In this letter, we study the possibility to test such models at the ILC, paying attention to the new charged particles responsible for the diphoton decay of the resonance. We show that they affect the scattering processes $e^+e^- \to f\bar{f}$ (with $f$ denoting Standard Model fermions) at the ILC, which makes it possible to indirectly probe the new charged particles even if they are out of the kinematical reach. W…
A slight excess has been observed in the first data of photon-photon events at the 13 TeV LHC, that might be interpreted has a hint of physics beyond the Standard Model. We show that a completely model-independent measurement of the photon-photon coupling of a putative 750 GeV resonance will be possible using the forward proton detectors scheduled at ATLAS and CMS.
In the context of an nonuniversal $U(1)'$ extension of the standard model free from anomalies, we introduce a complex scalar singlet candidate to be dark matter. In addition, an extra scalar doublet and a heavy scalar singlet are required to provide masses to all fermions and to break spontaneously the symmetries. From unitarity and stability of the Higgs potential, we find the full set of bounds and order relations for the scalar coupling constants. Using recent data from the CERN-LHC collider, we study the signal strenght of the diphoton Higgs decay $R_{γγ}$, which imposes very stringent bou…
We investigate the Higgs boson production through gluon fusion and its decay into two photons at the LHC in the context of the minimal 3-3-1 model and its alternative version with exotic leptons. The diphoton Higgs decay channel presents an enhanced signal in this model compared to the Standard Model due to the presence of an extra singly charged vector boson and a doubly charged one. Prospects for the Higgs boson detection at 7 TeV center-of-mass energy with up to 10 fb$^{-1}$ are presented. Our results suggest that a Higgs boson from these 3-3-1 models can potentially explain the small exces…
We compute the one-loop corrections to $σ(e^+ e^- \to Z h)$ arising from representative extended Standard Model scalar sector scenarios. According to the new scalar $\mathrm{SU(2)_L}$ representations, we consider the inert doublet, real and complex triplet, quintuplet, and septuplet models. With the sub-percent level precision expected for prospective future $e+e-$ collider measurements of $σ(e^+ e^- \to Z h)$, studies of the Higgsstrahlung process will probe extended scalar sector particle spectrum and interactions in a manner complementary to direct searches at the Large Hadron Collider and …
We discuss an extended scalar model which explains the recent results of diphoton excess at 750 GeV at LHC Run II experiments. An additional singlet scalar boson with the mass of 750 GeV, which couples to top quarks via a dimension five operator, is produced via gluon fusion and decays into two photons via loop contributions of a number of (multiply) charged scalar bosons. Origin of such a dimension five operator would be, for example, in the context of composite Higgs models. The excess can be explained without contradicting the data from LHC Run I and also theoretical consistencies such as p…
We study models with heavy exotics that account for the LHC $750$ GeV diphoton excess in light of current vector-like quark bounds. Utilizing only exotics that may appear in three-stack and four-stack D-brane models, we show that a narrow width diphoton excess can be accounted for while evading existing bounds if multiple exotics are added, with vector-like leptons of mass $M_L\lesssim 375$ GeV and vector-like quarks with masses up to $\simeq 3$ TeV. However, a large width $(Γ/M \sim 0.06)$, as suggested by the ATLAS data, cannot be easily accommodated in this framework. Renormalization group …
A hint of a new resonance at a mass of 750\,GeV has been observed in the diphoton channel of LHC Run 2 at $\sqrt{s}=13$ TeV. The signal rate is too large to interpret it as a new Higgs boson in the context of weakly-coupled renormalizable models. One way is to reduce its total decay rate, which is possible if the CP-even heavy Higgs boson $H^0$ in the aligned two Higgs doublet model becomes top-phobic. To ensure sufficient gluon fusion production, we introduce vector-like quarks (VLQ). The Higgs precision data as well as the exclusion limits from no excesses in other 8 TeV LHC searches of $Zγ$…
We propose the left-right models based on SU(3)_C\otimes SU(M)_L \otimes SU(N)_R \otimes U(1)_X gauge symmetry for (M,N)=(3,3), (2,3), and (3,2) that address the 750 GeV diphoton excess recently reported by the LHC. The fermion contents are minimally introduced, and the generation number must match the fundamental color number to cancel anomalies and ensure QCD asymptotic freedom. The diphoton excess arises from the field that breaks the left-right symmetry spontaneously in the first model, while for the last models it emerges as an explicit violation of the left-right symmetry. The neutrino m…
We propose to interpret the 750 GeV diphoton excess in a typical topflavor seesaw model. The new resonance X can be identified as a CP-even scalar emerging from a certain bi-doublet Higgs field. Such a scalar can couple to charged scalars, fermions as well as heavy gauge bosons predicted by the model, and consequently all of the particles contribute to the diphoton decay mode of the X. Numerical analysis indicates that the model can predict the central value of the diphoton excess without contradicting any constraints from 8 TeV LHC, and among the constraints, the tightest one comes from the Z…
The production mechanism of a 750 GeV diphoton resonance, either via gluon or photon fusion, can be probed by studying kinematic observables in the diphoton events. We perform a detector study of the two production modes of a hypothetical scalar or tensor diphoton resonance in order to characterize the features of the two scenarios. The nature of the resonance production can be determined from the jet multiplicity, the jet and diphoton rapidities, the rate of central pseudorapidity gaps, or the possible detection of forward protons from elastic photoproduction for events in the signal region. …
An evidence for a diphoton resonance at a mass of 750 GeV has been observed in the data collected at the LHC run at a center of mass energy of 13 TeV. We explore several interpretations of this signal in terms of Higgs-like resonances in a two-Higgs doublet model and its supersymmetric incarnation, in which the heavier CP-even and CP-odd states present in the model are produced in gluon fusion and decay into two photons through top quark loops. We show that one cannot accommodate the observed signal in the minimal versions of these models and that an additional particle content is necessary. W…
We explore the possibility to explain the 750 GeV diphoton excess recently measured by ATLAS and CMS collaborations in terms of a massive spin-2 particle. In particular, we consider the case in which the top-quark loops can give the similar amplitudes as the tree-level contributions to the diphoton and digluon channels. Such a scenario can be naturally realized in the generalized warped extra dimension models. As a result, the parameter space favored by the diphoton data implies that the top-quark loop contribution can compete to and even dominate over the tree-level amplitude in the spin-2 pa…
We discuss the possibility of interpreting the 125 GeV scalar boson and the 750 GeV diphoton excess recently reported by the ATLAS and CMS experiments as a Higgs-dominated and a radion-dominated states respectively in a stabilized brane-world model. It is shown that in the simplest variant of the model, where only the gravitational degrees of freedom propagate in the bulk, the production cross section of the radion-dominated state with mass 750 GeV turns out to be too small in the allowed region of the model parameter space for explaining the nature of the excess in this approach.
An improved analysis of the diphoton decay rate of the Higgs boson in the Inert Doublet Model is presented together with critical discussion of the results existing in the literature. For Higgs boson mass M_h equal 125 GeV, and taking into account the following constraints: vacuum stability, existence of the Inert vacuum, perturbative unitarity, electroweak precision tests and the LEP bounds, we found regions in the parameter space where the diphoton rate is enhanced. The resulting regions were confronted with the allowed values of the Dark Matter mass. We found that significant enhancement in…
