In this paper, we generalize Haagerup's inequality (on convolution norm in the free group) to a very general context of R-diagonal elements in a tracial von Neumann algebra; moreover, we show that in this "holomorphic" setting, the inequality is greatly improved from its originial form. We prove a Strong Haagerup inequality with operator coefficients. If for an integer d, H_d denotes the subspace of the von Neumann algebra of a free group F_I spanned by the words of length d in the generators (but not their inverses), then we provide in this paper an explicit upper bound on the norm on M_n(H_d), which improves and generalizes previous results by Kemp-Speicher (in the scalar case) and Buchholz and Parcet-Pisier (in the non-holomorphic setting). Inequality for Voiculescu's free entropy in terms of Brown measure

We study Voiculescu's microstate free entropy for a single non-selfadjoint random variable. The main result is that certain additional constraints on eigenvalues of microstates do not change the free entropy. Our tool is the method of random regularization of Brown measure which was studied recently by Haagerup and the author. Entropy Uncertainty Relations and Strong Sub-additivity of Quantum Channels

We prove an entropic uncertainty relation for two quantum channels, extending the work of Frank and Lieb for quantum measurements. This is obtained via a generalized strong super-additivity (SSA) of quantum entropy. Motivated by Petz's algebraic SSA inequality, we also obtain a generalized SSA for quantum relative entropy. As a special case, it gives an improved data processing inequality.
