We present results for the leading hadronic contribution to the muon anomalous magnetic moment due to strange quark-connected vacuum polarisation effects. Simulations were performed using RBC--UKQCD's $N_f=2+1$ domain wall fermion ensembles with physical light sea quark masses at two lattice spacings. We consider a large number of analysis scenarios in order to obtain solid estimates for residual systematic effects. Our final result in the continuum limit is $a_μ^{(2)\,{\rm had},\,s}=53.1(9)\left(^{+1}_{-3}\right)\times10^{-10}$.
We point out that the sum of the strange-quark-connected and full, three-flavor quark-disconnected contributions to the leading-order hadronic vacuum polarization contribution, $a_μ^{\mathrm{LO,HVP}}$, to the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon, is a physical observable, and provide a data-based determination of this quantity in the isospin limit. The result, $40.1(1.5)\times 10^{-10}$, or $38.7(2.0)\times 10^{-10}$, depending on which data compilation is used, serves as a target of comparison for lattice calculations of the same isospin-limit combination. Subtracting from this result the av…
The separation of the connected and disconnected sea partons, which were uncovered in the Euclidean path-integral formulation of the hadronic tensor, is accommodated with an alternative parametrization of the non-perturbative parton distribution functions in the CT18 global analysis. This is achieved with the help of the distinct small $x$ behaviours of these two sea partons and the constraint from the lattice calculation of the ratio of the strange momentum fraction to that of the $\bar u$ or $\bar d$ in the disconnected insertion. The whole dataset of CT18 is used in this CT18CS fit. The imp…
We present preliminary results for the determination of the leading strange and charm quark-connected contributions to the hadronic vacuum polarization contribution to the muon's g-2. Measurements are performed on the RC* collaboration's QCD ensembles, with 3+1 flavors of O(a) improved Wilson fermions and C* boundary conditions. The HVP is computed on a single value of the lattice spacing and two lattice volumes at unphysical pion mass. In addition, we compare the signal-to-noise ratio for different lattice discretizations of the vector current.
We report progress on calculating the contribution to the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon from the disconnected hadronic diagrams with light and strange quarks and the valence QED contribution to the connected diagrams. The lattice QCD calculations use the highly-improved staggered quark (HISQ) formulation. The gauge configurations were generated by the MILC Collaboration with four flavors of HISQ sea quarks with physical sea-quark masses.
We present new lattice results of the ETM Collaboration, obtained from extensive simulations of lattice QCD with dynamical up, down, strange and charm quarks at physical mass values, different volumes and lattice spacings, concerning the SM prediction for the so-called intermediate window (W) and short-distance (SD) contributions to the leading order hadronic vacuum polarization (LO-HVP) term of the muon anomalous magnetic moment, $a_μ$. Results for $a_μ^{\rm LO-HVP,W}$ and $a_μ^{\rm LO-HVP,SD}$, besides representing a step forward to a complete lattice computation of $a_μ^{\rm LO-HVP}$ and a …
We compute the hadronic light-by-light scattering contribution to the muon $g-2$ from the up, down, and strange-quark sector directly using lattice QCD. Our calculation features evaluations of all possible Wick-contractions of the relevant hadronic four-point function and incorporates several different pion masses, volumes, and lattice-spacings. We obtain a value of $a_μ^{\text{Hlbl}} = 106.8(14.7) \times 10^{-11}$ (adding statistical and systematic errors in quadrature), which is consistent with current phenomenological estimates and a previous lattice determination. It now appears conclusive…
The ratio of the strange quark momentum fraction $\langle x\rangle_{s+\bar{s}}$ to that of light quark $u$ or $d$ in disconnected insertions (DI) is calculated on the lattice with overlap fermions on four domain wall fermion ensembles. These ensembles cover three lattice spacings, three volumes and several pion masses including the physical one, from which a global fitting is carried out. A complete nonperturbative renormalization and the mixing between the quark and glue operators are taken into account. We find the ratio to be $\langle x\rangle_{s+\bar{s}}/\langle x\rangle_{u+\bar{u}} ({\rm …
We present a lattice calculation of the leading order (LO) hadronic vacuum polarization (HVP) contribution to the muon anomalous magnetic moment for the connected light and strange quarks, $a^{\rm W}_{{\rm con}, l/s}$ in the widely used window $t_0=0.4~\mathrm{fm}$, $t_1=1.0~\mathrm{fm}$, $Δ=0.15~\mathrm{fm}$, and also of $a^{\rm S}_{{\rm con}, l/s}$ in the short distance region. We use overlap fermions on 4 physical-point ensembles. Two 2+1 flavor RBC/UKQCD ensembles use domain wall fermions (DWF) and Iwasaki gauge actions at $a = 0.084$ and 0.114 fm, and two 2+1+1 flavor MILC ensembles use t…
We present updated results for the light-quark connected part of the leading hadronic contribution to the muon $g-2$ from configurations with 2+1+1 flavors of HISQ quarks using the time-momentum representation of the electromagnetic current correlator. We have added statistics on two ensembles as well as a fourth lattice spacing using configurations that have been generated by the MILC collaboration at the physical pion mass. Additionally we account for the leading finite-volume and taste-breaking effects using Staggered Chiral Perturbation Theory at NNLO.
