The production of jets, and high momentum hadrons from jets, produced in deuteron ($d$)-$Au$ collisions at the relativistic heavy-ion collider (RHIC) and proton ($p$)-$Pb$ collisions at the large hadron collider (LHC) are studied as a function of centrality, a measure of the impact parameter of the collision. A modified version of the event generator PYTHIA, widely used to simulate $p$-$p$ collisions, is used in conjunction with a nuclear Monte-Carlo event generator which simulates the locations of the nucleons within a large nucleus. We demonstrate how events with a hard jet may be simulated, in such a way that the parton distribution function of the projectile is frozen during its interaction with the extended nucleus. Using our approach, we demonstrate that the puzzling enhancement seen in peripheral events at RHIC and the LHC, as well as the suppression seen in central events at the LHC are mainly due to mis-binning of central and semi-central events, containing a jet, as peripheral events. This occurs due to the suppression of soft particle production away from the jet, caused by the depletion of energy available in a nucleon of the deuteron (in $d$-$Au$ at RHIC) or in the proton (in $p$-$Pb$ at LHC), after the production of a hard jet. We conclude that partonic correlations built out of simple energy conservation are mostly responsible for such an effect.
The mid-rapidity transverse momentum spectra of hadrons and the available rapidity distributions of the strange hadrons produced in p-p collisions at LHC energy root(snn) = 0.9 TeV and root(snn)= 7.0 TeV have been studied using a unified statistical thermal freeze-out model. The calculated results are found to be in good agreement with the experimental data. The theoretical fits of the transverse momentum spectra using the model calculations provide the thermal freeze-out conditions in terms of the temperature and collective flow parameters for different hadronic species. The study reveal the …

We present parameter-free predictions of the nuclear modification factor, R_{AA} ^pi(p_T,s), of high p_T pions produced in Pb+Pb collisions at sqrt{s}_{NN}=2.76 and 5.5 ATeV based on the WHDG/DGLV (radiative+elastic+geometric fluctuation) jet energy loss model. The initial quark gluon plasma (QGP) density at LHC is constrained from a rigorous statistical analysis of PHENIX/RHIC pi^0 quenching data at sqrt{s}_{NN}=0.2 ATeV and the charged particle multiplicity at ALICE/LHC at 2.76 ATeV. Our perturbative QCD tomographic theory predicts significant differences between jet quenching at RHIC and LH…
Measurements at the RHIC and the LHC have observed flavor dependence of single-hadron suppression, which reveal the role played by quark masses in the parton interactions with the quark-gluon plasma (QGP) medium. In this study, we explore the manifestation of quark mass effect and flavor dependence in jet observables. We approach this study using the LIDO transport model. Both elastic and medium-induced radiative processes are implemented for hard parton evolution in the medium. To guarantee energy-momentum conservation in the model for the study of full jet observables, we also include a comp…
