Continuity and strict positivity of the multi-layer extension of the stochastic heat equation

We prove the continuity and strict positivity of the multi-layer extension to the stochastic heat equation introduced in [OW11] which form a hierarchy of partition functions for the continuum directed random polymer. This shows that the corresponding free energy (logarithm of the partition function) is well defined. This is also a step towards proving the conjecture stated at the end of the above paper that an array of such partition functions has the Markov property.

Regularity and strict positivity of densities for the stochastic heat equation on $\mathbb{R}^d$

In this paper, we study the stochastic heat equation with a general multiplicative Gaussian noise that is white in time and colored in space. Both regularity and strict positivity of the densities of the solution have been established. The difficulty, and hence the contribution, of the paper lie in three aspects, which include rough initial conditions, degenerate diffusion coefficient, and weakest possible assumptions on the correlation function of the noise. In particular, our results cover the parabolic Anderson model starting from a Dirac delta initial measure.

A probabilistic Harnack inequality and strict positivity of stochastic partial differential equations

Under general conditions we show an a priori probabilistic Harnack inequality for the non-negative solution of a stochastic partial differential equation of the following form d_tu = div (A\nabla u) + f (t, x, u;w) + g_i(t, x, u;w)\dot{w}^i_t. We will also show that the solution of the above equation will be almost surely strictly positive if the initial condition is non-negative and not identically vanishing.

On the (strict) positivity of solutions of the stochastic heat equation

We give a new proof of the fact that the solutions of the stochastic heat equation, started with non-negative initial conditions, are strictly positive at positive times. The proof uses concentration of measure arguments for discrete directed polymers in Gaussian environments, originated in M. Talagrand's work on spin glasses and brought to directed polymers by Ph. Carmona and Y. Hu. We also get slightly improved bounds on the lower tail of the solutions of the stochastic heat equation started with a delta initial condition.

On comparison principle and strict positivity of solutions to the nonlinear stochastic fractional heat equations

In this paper, we prove a sample-path comparison principle for the nonlinear stochastic fractional heat equation on $\mathbb{R}$ with measure-valued initial data. We give quantitative estimates about how close to zero the solution can be. These results extend Mueller's comparison principle on the stochastic heat equation to allow more general initial data such as the (Dirac) delta measure and measures with heavier tails than linear exponential growth at $\pm\infty$. Regularity and strict positivity of densities for the nonlinear stochastic heat equation

In this paper, we establish a necessary and sufficient condition for the existence and regularity of the density of the solution to a semilinear stochastic (fractional) heat equation with measure-valued initial conditions. Under a mild cone condition for the diffusion coefficient, we establish the smooth joint density at multiple points. The tool we use is Malliavin calculus. Due to recent developments of Malliavin calculus for rough differential equations, it is now known that, under natural assumptions, the law of a unique solution at a fixed time has a smooth density function. Stochastic differential equations driven by generalized grey noise

In this paper we establish a substitution formula for stochastic differential equation driven by generalized grey noise. We then apply this formula to investigate the absolute continuity of the solution with respect to the Lebesgue measure and the positivity of the density.
