The present paper is elaborated to discuss the energy condition bounds in a modified teleparallel gravity namely $F(T,T_{G})$, involving torsion invariant $T$ and contribution from a term $T_G$, the teleparallel equivalent of the Gauss-Bonnet term. For this purpose, we consider flat FRW universe with matter contents as perfect fluid. We formulate the SEC, NEC, WEC and DEC in terms of some cosmic parameters including Hubble, deceleration, jerk and snap parameters. By taking two interesting models for $F(T,T_{G})$ and some recent limits of these cosmic parameters, we explore the constraints on the free parameters present in both assumed models. We also discuss these constraints graphically in terms of cosmic time by taking power law cosmology into account.
In this paper we construct the Hamiltonian constraint operator of loop quantum cosmology using holonomies defined for arbitrary irreducible SU(2) representations labeled by spin J. We show that modifications to the effective semi-classical equations of motion arise both in the gravitational part of the constraint as well as matter terms. The modifications are important for phenomenological investigations of the cosmological imprints of loop quantum cosmology. We discuss the implications for the early universe evolution.
In this paper we review a model based on loop quantum cosmology that arises from a symmetry reduction of the self dual Plebanski action. In this formulation the symmetry reduction leads to a very simple Hamiltonian constraint that can be quantized explicitly in the framework of loop quantum cosmology. We investigate the phenomenological implications of this model in the semi-classical regime and compare those with the known results of the standard Loop Quantum Cosmology.
In this paper within the scope of FRW cosmology for k = 0, \pm1 we study the dynamics of the universe for a cosmological model with a scalar field nonminimally coupled to matter. By best- fitting the model parameters with the observational data for the direct interaction between the dark sectors in the model we obtain observational constraints on cosmological parameters. The result shows that with the best fitted model parameters, only in flat universe, the phantom crossing occurs twice in the past and once in the future, whereas no crossing occurs for open and closed models of the universe.
It has been suggested that by increasing the speed of light during the early universe various cosmological problems of standard big bang cosmology can be overcome, without requiring an inflationary phase. However, we find that as the Planck length and Planck time are then made correspondingly smaller, and together with the need that the universe should not re-enter a Planck epoch, the higher $c$ models have very limited ability to resolve such problems. For a constantly decreasing $c$ the universe will quickly becomes quantum gravitationally dominated as time increases: the opposite to standar…
In this paper, we explore a fractal model of the universe proposed by Calcagni [JHEP{\bf03}(2010)120] for a power-counting renormalizable field theory living in a fractal spacetime. Considering a timelike fractal profile, we derived field equations in fractal cosmology, in order to explore the structure formation and the expansion history in fractal universe. Numerical investigations based on matter power spectra diagrams report higher structure growth in fractal cosmology, being in contrast to local galaxy surveys. Additionally, according to the evolution of Hubble parameter diagrams, it can …
To inherit more features of full loop quantum Brans-Dicke theory, the Euclidean and Lorentzian terms of the Hamiltonian constraint are quantized independently in loop quantum Brans-Dicke cosmology. An alternative Hamiltonian constraint operator and its effective expression are obtained in the cosmological model. A residual quantum correction term is found in the effective Hamiltonian constraint, which has no analog in the effective Hamiltonian of the loop quantum cosmology from general relativity. The dynamics driven by this effective Hamiltonian constraint is analyzed in detail. For the physi…
Quantum cosmology is investigated in a de Sitter minisuperspace model with a quantized scalar field non-minimally coupled to curvature. Quantum states of the scalar field must satisfy the regularity condition, which requires that the probability of field fluctuations should not increase with their amplitude. We show that this condition imposes constraints on the allowed values of the curvature coupling parameter $ξ$. This is a surprising result, since the field dynamics depends only on the combination $m^2+ξR$, where $m$ is the field mass and $R = \mathrm{const}$ is the curvature, and does not…
The Lorentzian Hamiltonian constraint is solved for isotropic loop quantum cosmology coupled to a massless scalar field. As in the Euclidean case, the discreteness of quantum geometry removes the classical singularity from the quantum Friedmann models. In spite of the absence of the classical singularity, a modified DeWitt initial condition is incompatible with a late-time smooth behavior. Further, the smooth behavior is recovered only for positive or negatives times but not both. An important feature, which is shared with the Euclidean case, is a minimal initial energy of the order of the Pla…
The quantum evolution equation of Loop Quantum Cosmology (LQC) -- the quantum Hamiltonian constraint -- is a difference equation. We relate the LQC constraint equation in vacuum Bianchi I separable (locally rotationally symmetric) models with an integrable differential-difference nonlinear Schrödinger type equation, which in turn is known to be associated with integrable, discrete Heisenberg spin chain models in condensed matter physics. We illustrate the similarity between both systems with a simple constraint in the linear regime.
Open FRW model in Loop Quantum Cosmology is under consideration. The left and right invariant vector fields and holonomies along them are studied. It is shown that in the hyperbolic geometry of $k=-1$ it is possible to construct a suitable loop which provides us with quantum scalar constraint originally introduced by Vandersloot. The quantum scalar constraint operator with negative cosmological constant is proved to be essentially self-adjoint.
In loop quantum cosmology there may be a super-inflation phase in the very early universe, in which a single scalar field with a negative power-law potential $V= -M^4(ϕ/M)^β$ plays important roles. Since the effective horizon $\sqrt{SD}/H$ controls the behavior of quantum fluctuation instead of the usual Hubble horizon, we assume the following inflation scenario; the super-inflation starts when the quantum state of the scalar field emerges into the classical regime, and ends when the effective horizon becomes the Hubble horizon, and the effective horizon scale never gets shorter than the Planck…
Taking into account a fractal structure for the black hole horizon, Barrow argued that the area law of entropy is modified due to quantum-gravitational effects (Barrow in Phys Lett B 808:135643, https://doi.org/10.1016/j.physletb.2020.135643, 2020). Accordingly, the corrected entropy takes the form $S \sim A^{1+\mathrmΔ/2}$, where $0\leq\mathrmΔ\leq1$, indicates the amount of the quantum-gravitational deformation effects. In this paper, based on Barrow entropy, we first derive the modified gravitational field equations through the Clausius relation. We then consider the Friedmann-Lemaître-Robe…
The phenomenon of linearisation instability is identified in models of quantum cosmology that are perturbations of mini-superspace models. In particular, constraints that are second order in the perturbations must be imposed on wave functions calculated in such models. It is shown explicitly that in the case of a model which is a perturbation of the mini-superspace which has $S^3$ spatial sections these constraints imply that any wave functions calculated in this model must be SO(4) invariant. (This replaces the previous corrupted version.)
The tool of functional averaging over some ``large'' diffeomorphisms is used to describe quantum systems with constraints, in particular quantum cosmology, in the language of quantum Effective Action. Simple toy models demonstrate a supposedly general phenomenon: the presence of a constraint results in ``quantum repel'' from the classical mass shell.
In this article we perform von Neumann analysis of the difference equations that arise as a result of loop quantum gravity being applied to models of cosmology and black holes. In particular, we study the numerical stability of Bianchi I LRS (symmetric and non-symmetric constraint) and Schwarzschild interior (symmetric constraint) models, and find that there exist domains over which there are instabilities, generically. We also present explicit evolutions of wave-packets in these models and clearly demonstrate the presence of these instabilities.
Recently, an alternative Hamiltonian constraint for Loop Quantum Cosmology has been put forward by Dapor and Liegener, inspired by previous work on regularization due to Thiemann. Here, we quantize this Hamiltonian following a prescription for cosmology proposed by Mart\'ın-Benito, Mena Marugán, and Olmedo. To this effect, we first regularize the Euclidean and Lorentzian parts of the Hamiltonian constraint separately in the case of a Bianchi I cosmology. This allows us to identify a natural symmetrization of the Hamiltonian which is apparent in anisotropic scenarios. Preserving this symmetriza…
The first-order loop quantum gravity correction of the simplest, classical general-relativistic Friedmann Hamiltonian constraint, emerging from a holomorphic spinfoam cosmological model peaked on homogeneous, isotropic geometries, is studied. The quantum Hamiltonian constraint, satisfied by the EPRL transition amplitude between the boundary cosmological coherent states, includes a contribution of the order of the Planck constant $\hbar$ that also appears in the corresponding semiclassical symplectic model. The analysis of this term gives a quantum-gravitational correction to the classical Frie…
In this work, we construct the logical framework of the Poincaré gauge gravity cosmology based on five postulations, and introduce the modified redshift relation within this framework. Then we solve a system with quadratic action and some other assumptions to get an analytic solution on background level. The evolution of the Universe on background can be reproduced from this solution without hypothesizing dark energy. Further, we use the type Ia supernova data set JLA to test the effect of the modified redshift relation under the constraints of system parameters. The results show that the cons…
In this article, we review the use of numerical techniques to obtain solutions for the quantum Hamiltonian constraint in loop quantum cosmology (LQC). First, we summarize the basic features of LQC, and describe features of the constraint equations to solve - generically, these are difference (rather than differential) equations. Important issues such as differing quantization methods, stability of the solutions, the semi-classical limit, and the relevance of lattice refinement in the difference equations are discussed. Finally, the cosmological models already considered in the literature are l…
The dynamical behaviors of interacting dark energy in loop quantum cosmology are discussed in this paper. Based on defining three dimensionless variables, we simplify the equations of the fixed points. The fixed points for interacting dark energy can be determined by the Friedmann equation coupled with the dynamical equations {in Einstein cosmology}. But in loop quantum cosmology, besides the Friedmann equation, the conversation equation also give a constrain on the fixed points. The difference of stability properties for the fixed points in loop quantum cosmology and the ones in Einstein cosm…
We investigate the background dynamics when dark energy is coupled to dark matter in the universe described by Einstein cosmology and Loop Quantum Cosmology. We introduce a new general form of dark sector coupling, which presents us a more complicated dynamical phase space. Differences in the phase space in obtaining the accelerated scaling attractor in Einstein cosmology and Loop Quantum Cosmology are disclosed.
The Hamiltonian constraint of scalar-tensor theories in the Jordan frame is quantised using three quantisation prescriptions in loop quantum cosmology, from which we obtain three different effective Hamiltonian constraints. The corresponding effective equations of motion derived from these effective Hamiltonian constraints turn out to be drastically different. The implications of each set of effective equations of motion are discussed in detail. In the latter half of this paper, as a concrete example, we study the effective dynamics of a specific model with the non-minimal coupling function $F…
We study the Generalized Brans-Dicke cosmology in the presence of matter and dark energy. Of particular interest for a constant Brans-Dicke parameter, the de Sitter space has also been investigated.
Integrability in general tetrad formalisms is reviewed, following and clarifying work of Papapetrou and Edgar. The integrability conditions are (combinations of) the Bianchi equations and their consequences. The introduction of additional constraints is considered. Recent results on the conservation of constraints in the 1+3 covariant formulation of cosmology are shown to follow from the Bianchi equations
We consider a Brans-Dicke cosmology in five-dimensional space-time. Neglecting the quadratic and the mixed Brans-Dicke terms in the Einstein equation, we derive a modified wave equation of the Brans-Dicke field. We show that, at high energy limit, the 3-brane Brans-Dicke cosmology could be described as the standard one by changing the equation of state. Finally as an illustration of the purpose, we show that the dark energy component of the universe agrees with the observations data.
We introduce two possible ways of defining effective constraints of quantum systems and applied this effective constraint method to models of WDW Quantum Cosmology and Loop Quantum Cosmology. We analyze effective Hamiltonian constraint on both second and third order and calculate Hubble parameter as well as modified Friedmann equation of each model. Then we compare with a special case using coherent state. It shows that this method is reasonable and as before the classical Big Bang singularity is replaced by a quantum bounce in Loop Quantum Cosmology.
We investigate the FLRW type cosmology of the Induced Dark Energy model and illustrate that the extra terms emerging from the fifth dimension can play the role of dark energy. The model predicts the expansion with deceleration at early time and acceleration in late time for an open universe.
We investigate the compact Kaluza-Klein cosmology in which modified holographic dark energy is interacting with dark matter. Using this scenario, we evaluate equation of state parameter as well as equation of evolution of the modified holographic dark energy. Further, it is shown that the generalized second law of thermodynamics holds without any constraint.
Since there are quantization ambiguities in constructing the Hamiltonian constraint operator in isotropic loop quantum cosmology, it is crucial to check whether the key features of loop quantum cosmology are robust against the ambiguities. In this paper, we quantize the Lorentz term of the gravitational Hamiltonian constraint in the spatially flat FRW model by two approaches different from that of the Euclidean term. One of the approaches is very similar to the treatment of the Lorentz part of Hamiltonian in loop quantum gravity and hence inherits more features from the full theory. Two symmet…
In the spatially flat case of loop quantum cosmology, the connection $\bar{k}$ is usually replaced by the holonomy $\frac{\sin(\barμk)}{\barμ}$ in the effective theory. In this paper, instead of the $\barμ$ scheme, we use a generalised, undertermined function $g(\bar{k},\bar{p})$ to represent the holonomy and by using the approach of anomaly free constraint algebra we fix all the counter terms in the constraints and find the restriction on the form of $g(\bar{k},\bar{p})$, then we derive the gauge invariant equations of motion of the scalar, tensor and vector perturbations and study the inflat…
In this thesis we will focus on Einstein's interpretation of gravity. We will examine how the most famous equations in cosmology are derived from GR and also some results of cosmological significance. We will see how combining that with observational data forces us to consider some form of dark energy or vacuum energy. So we will conclude with some of the more well-known models for dark energy and examine how the dynamics of dark energy can lead us to the so-called cosmological inflation.
We investigate interacting ghost dark energy models in higher dimensional cosmology. We attempt to model dark matter within a barotropic fluid with $P_{b}=ω(t)_{b}ρ$. In this work we consider four different models based on choosing equation of state parameter and interaction term. We confirm that our models agree with observational data.
We derive a theory-independent version of the momentum constraint equation for use in cosmology, as a part of the Parameterised Post-Newtonian Cosmology (PPNC) framework. Our equations are constructed by adapting the corresponding quantities from formalisms devised for testing and constraining gravity in isolated astrophysical systems, thereby extending the domain of applicability of these approaches up to cosmological scales. Our parameterised equations include both scalar and divergenceless-vector gravitational potentials, and can be applied to both conservative and non-conservative theories…
A Friedmann-Robertson-Walker cosmology with dark energy can be modelled using a quintessence field. That system is equivalent to a relativistic particle moving on a two-dimensional conformal spacetime. When the quintessence behaves as a free massless scalar field in a Universe with cosmological constant, the quantized version of that theory can lead to a Supersymmetric Majorana quantum cosmology. The purpose of this work is to show that such quantum cosmological model correspond to the Maxwell equations for electromagnetic waves propagating in a medium with specific values for its relative per…
In this paper, we examine observational constraints on the power law cosmology; essentially dependent on two parameters $H_0$ (Hubble constant) and $q$ (deceleration parameter). We investigate the constraints on these parameters using the latest 28 points of H(z) data and 580 points of Union2.1 compilation data and, compare the results with the results of $Λ$CDM. We also forecast constraints using a simulated data set for the future JDEM, supernovae survey. Our studies give better insight into power law cosmology than the earlier done analysis by Kumar [arXiv:1109.6924] indicating it tuning we…
Since there are quantization ambiguities in constructing the Hamiltonian constraint operator in isotropic loop quantum cosmology, it is crucial to check whether the key features of loop quantum cosmology, such as the quantum bounce and effective scenario, are robust against the ambiguities. In this paper, we consider a typical quantization ambiguity arising from the quantization of the field strength of the gravitational connection. An alternative Hamiltonian constraint operator is constructed, which is shown to have the correct classical limit by the semiclassical analysis. The effective Hami…
We consider Tsallis cosmology as an approach to thermodynamic gravity and derive the bound on the Tsallis parameter to be $β<2$ by using the constraints derived from the formation of the primordial light elements, Helium, Deuterium and Litium, from the observational data from Big Bang Nucleosynthesis (BBN) which allows only a very tiny deviation from General Relativity (GR). Next we consider thermal dark matter (DM) freeze-out mechanism in Tsallis cosmological era and derive bounds on the Tsallis parameter from the observed DM relic abundance to be $1-β< 10^{-5}$.
A cosmological model with a cyclic interpretation is introduced, which is subject to quantum back-reaction and yet can be treated rather completely by physical coherent state as well as effective constraint techniques. By this comparison, the role of quantum back-reaction in quantum cosmology is unambiguously demonstrated. Also the complementary nature of strengths and weaknesses of the two procedures is illustrated. Finally, effective constraint techniques are applied to a more realistic model filled with radiation, where physical coherent states are not available.
The free parameters of a flat accelerating model without dark energy are constrained by using Supernovae type Ia and observational H(z) data. Instead of the vacuum dominance, the present accelerating stage in this modified Einstein-de Sitter cosmology is a consequence of the gravitationally-induced particle production of cold dark matter. The model present a transition from a decelerating to an accelerating regime at low redshifts, and is also able to harmonize a cold dark matter picture with the latest measurements of the Hubble constant H_0, the Supernovae observations (Constitution sample),…
We extract constraints on the transition redshift $z_{tr}$, determining the onset of cosmic acceleration, predicted by an effective cosmographic construction, in the framework of $f(T)$ gravity. In particular, employing cosmography we obtain bounds on the viable $f(T)$ forms and their derivatives. Since this procedure is model independent, as long as the scalar curvature is fixed, we are able to determine intervals for $z_{tr}$. In this way we guarantee that the Solar-System constraints are preserved and moreover we extract bounds on the transition time and the free parameters of the scenario.…
A rigorous constraint analysis on cosmic inflation entails several probes which collectively survey an extensive range of energy scales. We complement the cosmic microwave background data with an updated compilation of the cosmic abundance limits of primordial black holes, with which we infer stringent constraints on the runnings of the scalar spectral index. These constraints are notably improved by further including imminent measurements of the cosmic microwave background spectral distortions, clearly illustrating the effectiveness of joint large-scale and small-scale cosmological surveys.
Production of spin 1/2 fermions and gravitinos by the standard mechanism of amplification of quantum fluctuations during the dilaton-driven inflation phase in models of string cosmology is highly suppressed. Constraints on string cosmology models from gravitational production of gravitinos, contrary to expectations, are similar to constraints on other models.
We study the amplification of the electromagnetic fluctuations, and the production of "seeds" for the cosmic magnetic fields, in a class of string cosmology models whose scalar and tensor perturbations reproduce current observations and satisfy known phenomenological constraints. We find that the condition of efficient seeds production can be satisfied and compatible with all constraints only in a restricted region of parameter space, but we show that such a region has significant intersections with the portions of parameter space where the produced background of relic gravitational waves is s…
In this work, we consider the so-called $Λ(α)$CDM cosmology with $Λ\proptoα^{-6}$ while the fine-structure "constant" $α$ is varying. In this scenario, the accelerated expansion of the universe is driven by the cosmological "constant" $Λ$ (equivalently the vacuum energy), and the varying $α$ is driven by a subdominant scalar field $ϕ$ coupling with the electromagnetic field. The observational constraints on the varying $α$ and $Λ\proptoα^{-6}$ models with various couplings $B_F(ϕ)$ between the subdominant scalar field $ϕ$ and the electromagnetic field are considered.
Massive gravity in the presence of doubly coupled matter field via en effective composite metric yields an accelerated expansion of the universe. It has been recently shown that the model admits stable de Sitter attractor solutions and could be used as a dark energy model. In this work, we perform a first analysis of the constraints imposed by the SNIa, BAO and CMB data on the massive gravity model with the effective composite metric and show that all the background observations are mutually compatible at the one sigma level with the model.
We consider generic models of quintessence and we investigate the influence of massive neutrino matter with field-dependent masses on the matter power spectrum. In case of minimally coupled neutrino matter, we examine the effect in tracker models with inverse power-law and double exponential potentials. We present detailed investigations for the scaling field with a steep exponential potential, non-minimally coupled to massive neutrino matter, and we derive constraints on field-dependent neutrino masses from the observational data.
The DGP brane-world model provides a simple alternative to the standard LCDM cosmology, with the same number of parameters. There is no dark energy - the late universe self-accelerates due to an infrared modification of gravity. We compute the joint constraints on the DGP model from supernovae, the cosmic microwave background shift parameter, and the baryon oscillation peak in the SDSS luminous red galaxy sample. Flat DGP models are within the joint 2 sigma contour, but the LCDM model provides a significantly better fit to the data. These tests are based on the background dynamics of the DGP m…
We use observational data from Type Ia Supernovae (SNIa), Baryon Acoustic Oscillations (BAO), and Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB), along with requirements of Big Bang Nucleosynthesis (BBN), to constrain the cosmological scenarios governed by Horava-Lifshitz gravity. We consider both the detailed and non-detailed balance versions of the gravitational sector, and we include the matter and radiation sectors. We conclude that the detailed-balance scenario cannot be ruled out from the observational point of view, however the corresponding likelihood contours impose tight constraints on the involv…
We consider the process of magnetogenesis in the context of nonsingular bounce cosmology. We show that large primordial magnetic fields can be generated during contraction without encountering strong coupling and backreaction issues. The fields may seed large-scale magnetic fields with observationally interesting strengths. This result leads to a theoretical constraint on the relation of the energy scale of the bounce cosmology to the number of effective e-folding of the contracting phase in the case of scale invariance for the power spectrum of primordial magnetic fields. We show that this co…
In this paper, we show that the expansion history of the Universe in power-law cosmology essentially depends on two crucial parameters, namely the Hubble constant $H_{0}$ and deceleration parameter $q$. We find the constraints on these parameters from the latest $H(z)$ and SNe Ia data. At 1$σ$ level the constraints from $H(z)$ data are obtained as $q=-0.18_{-0.12}^{+0.12}$ and $H_{0}=68.43_{-2.80}^{+2.84}$ km s$^{-1}$ Mpc$^{-1}$ while the constraints from the SNe Ia data read as $q=-0.38_{-0.05}^{+0.05}$ and $H_{0}=69.18_{-0.54}^{+0.55}$ km s$^{-1}$ Mpc$^{-1}$. We also perform the joint test u…
We discuss the cosmological implications of the $R~\Box^{-2}R$ nonlocal modification to standard gravity. We relax the assumption of special initial conditions in the local formulation of the theory, perform a full phase-space analysis of the system, and show that the late-time cosmology of the model exhibits two distinct evolution paths, on which a large range of values for the present equation of state can be reached. We then compare the general solutions to supernovae data and place constraints on the parameters of the model. In particular, we find that the mass parameter of the theory shou…
We use observational data on the magnitude-redshift relation for Type Ia supernovae together with constraints on the ages of the oldest stars to rule out a higher-dimensional extension of General Relativity with a negative kinetic-energy scalar field. This theory is of considerable physical interest because it produces accelerated expansion at both early and late times with a single new field, as in quintessential inflation scenarios. It is also of mathematical interest because it is characterized by an analytic expression for the macroscopic scale factor $a(t)$. We show that cosmological solu…
