A semiring scheme generalizes a scheme in such a way that the underlying algebra is that of semirings. We generalize Čech cohomology theory and invertible sheaves to semiring schemes. In particular, when $X=\mathbb{P}^n_M$, a projective space over a totally ordered idempotent semifield $M$, we show that Čech cohomology theory is in agreement with the classical computation. Finally, we classify all invertible sheaves on $X=\mathbb{P}^n_M$ by computing the Picard group of $X$ explicitly.
We discuss the capitulation kernel associated to a degree n covering using Cech cohomology and the Kummer sequence. The main result is a five-term exact sequence that relates the capitulation kernel to the Cech cohomology of the n-th roots of unity and a certain subquotient of the group of units modulo n-th powers.
Let $G$ be a connected affine algebraic group over $\mathbb{C}$, $G \to X$ be an open immersion of $G$-varieties, $Z = X-G$ and $i: Z \to X$ be the inclusion. Let $α\in H^*(G,\mathbb{C})$ be primitive. We give a method to compute the image of $α$ in $H^*(Z, i^!\mathbb{C}_X)$, using a lift of $α$ along the first edge map of the Čech spectral sequence for $H^*(BG, \mathbb{C})$. We apply it to the wonderful compactification of a centerless semisimple group $G$.
We study the cohomology theory of sheaf complexes for open embeddings of topological spaces and related subjects. The theory is situated in the intersection of the general Cech theory and the theory of derived categories. That is to say, on the one hand the cohomology is described as the relative cohomology of the sections of the sheaf complex, which appears naturally in the theory of Cech cohomology of sheaf complexes. On the other hand it is interpreted as the cohomology of a complex dual to the mapping cone of a certain morphism of complexes in the theory of derived categories. We prove a "…
We show that on integral normal separated schemes whose function field is separably closed, for each pair of points the intersection of the resulting local schemes is local. This extends a result of Artin from rings to schemes. The argument relies on the existence of certain modifications in inverse limits. As an application, we show that Čech cohomology coincides with sheaf cohomology for the Nisnevich topology. Along the way, we generalize the characterization of contractible curves on surfaces by negative-definiteness of the intersection matrix to higher dimensions, using bigness of inverti…
From any monoid scheme $X$ (also known as an $\mathbb{F}_1$-scheme) one can pass to a semiring scheme (a generalization of a tropical scheme) $X_S$ by scalar extension to an idempotent semifield $S$. We prove that for a given irreducible monoid scheme $X$ (satisfying some mild conditions) and an idempotent semifield $S$, the Picard group $Pic(X)$ of $X$ is stable under scalar extension to $S$ (and in fact to any field $K$). In other words, we show that the groups $Pic(X)$ and $Pic(X_S)$ (and $Pic(X_K)$) are isomorphic. In particular, if $X_\mathbb{C}$ is a toric variety, then $Pic(X)$ is the s…
Let $\Bbbk$ be a field of characteristic 0. Let $X$ be a smooth complete intersection over $k$ of dimension $n-k$ in the projective space $\mathbf{P}^n_{k}$, for given positive integers $n$ and $k$. When $k=\mathbb{C}$, Terasoma (\cite{Ter90}) and Konno (\cite{Ko91}) provided an explicit representative (in terms of differential forms) of a basis for the primitive middle-dimensional algebraic de Rham cohomology $H_{dR,\operatorname{prim}}^{n-k}(X;\mathbb{C})$. Later Dimca constructed another explicit representative of a basis of $H_{dR,\operatorname{prim}}^{n-k}(X;\mathbb{C})$ in \cite{Dim95}. …
The quintic threefold $X$ is the most studied Calabi-Yau $3$-fold in the mathematics literature. In this paper, using Čech-to-derived spectral sequences, we investigate the mod $2$ and integral cohomology groups of a real Lagrangian $\breve{L}_{\mathbb{R}}$, obtained as the fixed locus of an anti-symplectic involution in the mirror to $X$. We show that $\breve{L}_{\mathbb{R}}$ is the disjoint union of a $3$-sphere and a rational homology sphere. Analysing the mod $2$ cohomology further, we deduce a correspondence between the mod $2$ Betti numbers of $\breve{L}_{\mathbb{R}}$ and certain counts …
