We present a flavour-covariant formalism for scalar triplet leptogenesis, which takes into account the effects of the different lepton flavours in a consistent way. Our main finding is that flavour effects can never be neglected in scalar triplet leptogenesis, even in the temperature regime where all charged lepton Yukawa interactions are out of equilibrium. This is at variance with the standard leptogenesis scenario with heavy Majorana neutrinos. In particular, the so-called single flavour approximation leads to predictions for the baryon asymmetry of the universe that can differ by a large amount from the flavour-covariant computation in all temperature regimes. We investigate numerically the impact of flavour effects and spectator processes on the generated baryon asymmetry, and find that the region of triplet parameter space allowed by successsful leptogenesis is significantly enlarged.
Thermal leptogenesis, in the seesaw model, is a popular mechanism for generating the Baryon Asymmetry of the Universe. It was noticed recently, that including lepton flavour can modify significantly the results. These proceedings aim to discuss why and when flavour matters, in the thermal leptogenesis scenario for hierarchical right-handed neutrinos. No Boltzmann Equations are introduced.
We prove that taking correctly into account the lepton flavour dependence of the CP asymmetries and washout processes, it is possible to obtain successful thermal leptogenesis from the decays of the second right-handed neutrino. The asymmetries in the muon and tau-flavour channels are then not erased by the inverse decays of the lightest right-handed neutrino, N_1. In this way, we reopen the possibility of ``thermal leptogenesis'' in models with a strong hierarchy in the right-handed Majorana masses that is typically the case in models with up-quark--neutrino Yukawa unification.
Flavour models may display a relation between the CP-violating asymmetry for leptogenesis and low-energy parameters. If the flavour symmetry produces an exact mass independent lepton mixing scheme at leading order (with type I see-saw) the CP-violating asymmetry would vanish in the absence of corrections. We present a model displaying the link between deviations from the mixing scheme and leptogenesis.
In models with flavour symmetries added to the gauge group of the Standard Model the CP-violating asymmetry necessary for leptogenesis may be related with low-energy parameters. A particular case of interest is when the flavour symmetry produces an exact mass independent lepton mixing scheme, leading to a vanishing CP-violating asymmetry. We present a model-independent discussion that confirms this always occurs for unflavoured leptogenesis in type I see-saw scenarios.
If the baryon asymmetry of the Universe is produced by leptogenesis, CP violation is required in the lepton sector. In the seesaw extension of the Standard Model with three hierarchical right-handed neutrinos, we show that the baryon asymmetry is insensitive to the PMNS phases: thermal leptogenesis can work for any value of the observable phases. This result was well-known when there are no flavour effects in leptogenesis; we show that it remains true when flavour effects are included.
Thermal leptogenesis, that can be viewed as a consequence of the seesaw model, is a very natural mechanism to explain the matter anti-matter asymmetry of the Universe. Recently, lepton flavours have been included in the Boltzmann equations, modifying significantly the evaluation of the efficiency of leptogenesis to explain the observed baryon asymmetry.
We discuss minimal non-supersymmetric models of resonant leptogenesis, based on an approximate flavour symmetries. As an illustrative example, we consider a resonant tau-leptogenesis model, compatible with universal right-handed neutrino masses at the GUT scale, where the required heavy-neutrino mass splittings are generated radiatively. In particular, we explicitly demonstrate, how a minimum number of three heavy Majorana neutrinos is needed, in order to obtain successful leptogenesis and experimentally testable rates for processes of lepton flavour violation, such as mu --> e gamma and mu --…
In this thesis, we study the role of flavours in leptogenesis. In a first time, we review the so-called one flavour picture, where only the lightest right-handed neutrino is taken into account, and where lepton flavours are neglected. After having showed why and how lepton flavours should be included in the computation of the lepton asymmetry, we study their effect in the type I seesaw model, as well as in the type I+II seesaw model, in a specific SO(10) unification realisation. In this model, besides flavours effects, we show that the inclusion of the second lightest right-handed neutrino, to…
Minimal models exist in which thermal, resonant leptogenesis occurs at the electroweak scale. The effects of individual lepton flavours play a crucial role and allow successful leptogenesis with large couplings between some of the charged leptons and the heavy Majorana neutrinos. This leads to potentially observable signals for low energy experiments (such as MEG, MECO and PRIME) and future linear colliders.
When lepton flavour effects in thermal leptogenesis are active, they introduce important differences with respect to the case in which they are neglected, the so-called one-flavour approximation. We investigate analytically and numerically the transition from the one-flavour to the two-flavour case when the $τ$-lepton flavour becomes distinguishable from the other two flavours. We study the impact of the oscillations of the asymmetries in lepton flavour space on the final lepton asymmetries, for the hierarchical right-handed neutrino mass spectrum. Flavour oscillations project the lepton state…
We study the impact of flavour in thermal leptogenesis, including the quantum oscillations of the asymmetries in lepton flavour space. In the Boltzmann equations we find different numerical factors and additional terms which can affect the results significantly. The upper bound on the CP asymmetry in a specific flavour is weaker than the bound on the sum. This suggests that -- when flavour dynamics is included -- there is no model-independent limit on the light neutrino mass scale, and that the lower bound on the reheat temperature is relaxed by a factor ~ (3 - 10).
A novel contribution to the leptonic CP asymmetries in type II seesaw leptogenesis scenarios is obtained for the cases in which flavor effects are relevant for the dynamics of leptogenesis. In the so-called flavoured leptogenesis regime, the interference between the tree-level amplitude of the scalar triplet decaying into two leptons and the one-loop wave-function correction with leptons in the loop, leads to a new nonvanishing CP asymmetry contribution. The latter conserves total lepton number but violates lepton flavour. Cases in which this novel contribution may be dominant in the generatio…
We analyze lepton flavour violation (LFV) and the generation of the observed baryon-antibaryon asymmetry of the Universe (BAU) within a generalized minimal lepton flavour violation framework with three quasi-degenerate heavy Majorana neutrinos. The BAU which is obtained through radiative resonant leptogenesis can successfully be generated widely independent of the Majorana scale in this scenario and flavour effects are found to be relevant. Then we discuss the specific case in which CP violation is exclusively present at low-energies (a real R matrix) in the flavour sensitive temperature regim…
We study the implications of a successful leptogenesis within the framework of Minimal Lepton Flavour Violation combined with radiative resonant leptogenesis and the PMNS matrix being the only source of CP violation, which can be obtained provided flavour effects are taken into account. We find that the right amount of the baryon asymmetry of the universe can be generated under the conditions of a normal hierarchy of the light neutrino masses, a non-vanishing Majorana phase, sin(theta_{13})>0.13 and m_{nu,lightest}<0.04 eV. If this is fulfilled, we find strong correlations among ratios of char…
A discrepancy between the experimental and theoretical results was reported for the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon. In leptogenesis scenarios which are due to a decay of right-handed neutrinos, this anomaly leads to large violations of lepton flavour within the framework of supersymmetric see-saw models. It is shown that for a hierarchical right-handed neutrino mass spectrum, we generically expect to observe μ\to e γin the near future experiment.
We study thermal leptogenesis in classes of neutrino mass models based on the seesaw mechanism with three right-handed neutrinos and sequential right-handed neutrino dominance. The flavour-dependent Boltzmann equations are solved appropriate to both the Standard Model and the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model. Within these classes of models we investigate constraints and expectations on the individual decay asymmetries and washout parameters from the present data on neutrino masses and mixings. In many cases of physical interest flavour effects are shown to have important consequences for …
We discuss scalar triplet leptogenesis in a specific left-right symmetric seesaw model. We show that the Majorana phases that are present in the model can be effectively used to saturate the existing upper limit on the CP-asymmetry of the triplets. We solve the relevant Boltzmann equations and analyze the viability of triplet leptogenesis. It is known for this kind of scenario that the efficiency of leptogenesis is maximal if there exists a hierarchy between the branching ratios of the triplet decays into leptons and Higgs particles. We show that triplet leptogenesis typically favors branching…
We reanalyse leptogenesis via the out-of-equilibrium decay of the lightest right-handed neutrino in type II seesaw scenarios, taking into account flavour-dependent effects. In the type II seesaw mechanism, in addition to the type I seesaw contribution, an additional direct mass term for the light neutrinos is present. We consider type II seesaw scenarios where this additional contribution arises from the vacuum expectation value of a Higgs triplet, and furthermore an effective model-independent approach. We investigate bounds on the flavour-specific decay asymmetries, on the mass of the lighte…
We analyse the feasibility of low-scale leptogenesis where the inverse seesaw (ISS) and linear seesaw (LSS) terms are not simultaneously present. In order to generate the necessary mass splittings, we adopt a Minimal Lepton Flavour Violation (MLFV) hypothesis where a sterile neutrino mass degeneracy is broken by flavour effects. We find that resonant leptogenesis is feasible in both scenarios. However, because of a flavour alignment issue, MLFV-ISS leptogenesis succeeds only with a highly tuned choice of Majorana masses. For MLFV-LSS, on the other hand, a large portion of parameter space is ab…
We revisit flavour effects in soft leptogenesis relaxing the assumption of universality for the soft supersymmetry breaking terms. We find that with respect to the case in which the heavy sneutrinos decay with equal rates and equal CP asymmetries for all lepton flavours, hierarchical flavour configurations can enhance the efficiency by more than two orders of magnitude. This translates in more than three order of magnitude with respect to the one-flavour approximation. We verify that lepton flavour equilibration effects related to off-diagonal soft slepton masses are ineffective for damping th…
Several classes of neutrino mass models, which can naturally account for hierarchical masses and the bi-large pattern of neutrino mixing, are constructed from a bottom-up perspective based on the idea of decoupling of one right-chiral neutrino from the seesaw mechanism. The interplay between the predictions for the lepton-flavour violation in the MSSM with universal soft masses and for leptogenesis is studied. In particular, classes of neutrino mass models in which successful leptogenesis implies BR(mu->e gamma) potentially observable in upcoming experiments are identified.
It has been recently shown that the quantum Boltzmann equations may be relevant for the leptogenesis scenario. In particular, they lead to a time-dependent CP asymmetry which depends upon the previous dynamics of the system. This memory effect in the CP asymmetry is particularly important in resonant leptogenesis where the asymmetry is generated by the decays of nearly mass-degenerate right-handed neutrinos. We study the impact of the non-trivial time evolution of the CP asymmetry in the so-called Minimal Lepton Flavour Violation framework where the charged-lepton and the neutrino Yukawa coupl…
We study the impact of flavours on the efficiency factors and give analytical and numerical results of the baryon asymmetry taking into account the different charged lepton Yukawa contributions and the complete (diagonal and off-diagonal) $L$ to $B-L$ conversion $A$ matrix. With this treatment we update the lower bound on the lightest right-handed neutrino mass.
We compute and compare the baryon asymmetry of the universe in thermal leptogenesis scenario with and without flavour effects for different neutrino mass models namely degenerate, inverted hierarchical and normal hierarchical models, with tribimaximal mixings and beyond. Considering three possible diagonal forms of Dirac neutrino mass matrices $m_{LR}$, the right-handed Majorana mass matrices $M_{RR}$ are constructed from the light neutrino mass matrices $m_{LL}$ through the inverse seesaw formula. The normal hierarchical model is found to give the best predictions of the baryon asymmetry for …
We give analytic approximations to the baryon asymmetry produced by thermal leptogenesis with hierarchical right-handed neutrinos. Our calculation includes flavour-dependent washout processes and CP violation in scattering, and neglects gauge interactions and finite temperature corrections. Our approximate formulae depend upon the three CP asymmetries in the individual lepton flavours as well as on three flavour-dependent efficiency factors. We show that the commonly used expressions for the lepton asymmetry, which depend on the total CP asymmetry and one single efficiency factor, may fail to …
In realistic unified models involving an $SO(10)$-like pattern of Dirac and heavy right-handed (RH) neutrino masses, the lightest right-handed neutrino $N_1$ is too light to yield successful thermal leptogenesis, barring highly fine tuned solutions, while the second heaviest right-handed neutrino $N_2$ is typically in the correct mass range. We show that flavour coupling effects in the Boltzmann equations may be crucial to the success of such $N_2$ dominated leptogenesis, by helping to ensure that the flavour asymmetries produced at the $N_2$ scale survive $N_1$ washout. To illustrate these ef…
We discuss flavour dependent lepton asymmetries in the Exceptional Supersymmetric Standard Model (E$_6$SSM). In the E$_6$SSM, the right-handed neutrinos do not participate in gauge interactions, and they decay into leptons and leptoquarks. Their Majorana nature allows violation of lepton number. New particles and interactions can result in substantial lepton asymmetries, even for scales as low as $10^6 {\rm GeV}$.
We investigate the viability of leptogenesis in models with three heavy right-handed neutrinos, where the charged-lepton and the neutrino Yukawa couplings are the only irreducible sources of lepton-flavour symmetry breaking (Minimal Lepton Flavour Violation hypothesis). We show that in this framework a specific type of resonant leptogenesis can be successfully accomplished. For natural values of the free parameters, this mechanism requires a high right-handed neutrino mass scale ($M_ν\gsim 10^{12}$ GeV). By means of a general effective field theory approach, we analyse the impact of the CP vio…
In the supersymmetric triplet (type-II) seesaw model, in which a single SU(2)_L-triplet couples to leptons, the high-energy neutrino flavour structure can be directly determined from the low-energy neutrino data. We show that even with such a minimal triplet content, leptogenesis can be naturally accommodated thanks to the resonant interference between superpotential and soft supersymmetry breaking terms.
We construct a supersymmetric version of the triplet Higgs model for neutrino masses, which can generate a baryon asymmetry of the Universe through lepton-number violation and is consistent with the gravitino constraints.
Upcoming Lepton Flavour Violation experiments searching for $μ\rightarrow 3e$ and $μ$ to $ e $ conversion in nuclei processes will provide new opportunities to test the fundamental properties of the neutrino sector, and possibly the origin of matter. In recent work, it was shown that the Type II Seesaw mechanism alone can simultaneously explain the neutrino masses, Leptogenesis, and inflation. A key prediction of this model was the possibility of signals being produced in Lepton Flavour Violation decays. Searches at future experiments such as Mu3e and COMET will be integral to determining the …
We present a systematic study of leptogenesis in neutrino mass models with $μτ$-flavoured CP symmetry. In addition to the strong hierarchical $N_1$-dominated scenario ($N_1$DS) in the `two flavour regime' of leptogenesis, we show that one may choose the right-handed (RH) neutrino mass hierarchy as mild as $M_2\simeq 4.7 M_1$ for a perfectly valid hierarchical $N_1$DS. This in turn reduces the lower bound on the allowed values of $M_1$, compared to what is stated in the literature. The consideration of flavour effects due to the heavy neutrinos also translate into an upper bound on $M_1$. It is…
We present the various leptogenesis scenarios which may occur if, in addition to the ordinary heavy right-handed neutrinos, there exists a heavy scalar SU(2)_L triplet coupled to leptons. We show that the contributions of the right-handed neutrinos and the triplet to the lepton asymmetry are proportional to their respective contributions to the neutrino mass matrix. A consequence of the triplet contribution to the lepton asymmetry is that there is no more upper bound on the neutrino masses from leptogenesis due to the fact that the neutrino mass constraints do not necessarily induce asymmetry …
We discuss N_2-dominated leptogenesis in the presence of flavour dependent effects that have hitherto been neglected, in particular the off-diagonal entries of the flavour coupling matrix that connects the total flavour asymmetries, distributed in different particle species, to the lepton and Higgs doublet asymmetries. We derive analytical formulae for the final asymmetry including the flavour coupling at the N_2-decay stage as well as at the stage of washout by the lightest right-handed neutrino N_1. Moreover, we point out that in general part of the electron and muon asymmetries (phantom ter…
We discuss flavour dependent leptogenesis in the framework of lepton flavour models based on discrete flavour and CP symmetries applied to the type-I seesaw model. Working in the flavour basis, we analyse the case of two general residual CP symmetries in the neutrino sector, which corresponds to all possible semi-direct models based on a preserved $Z_2$ in the neutrino sector, together with a CP symmetry, which constrains the PMNS matrix up to a single free parameter which may be fixed by the reactor angle. We systematically study and classify this case for all possible residual CP symmetries,…
A simple and economical extension of the minimal standard electroweak gauge model (without right-handed neutrinos) by the addition of two heavy Higgs scalar triplets would have two significant advantages. \underline {Naturally} small Majorana neutrino masses would become possible, as well as leptogenesis in the early universe which gets converted at the electroweak phase transition into the present observed baryon asymmetry.
Successful Soft Leptogenesis (SL) requires a relatively low mass scale for the SU(2) singlet neutrinos of $10^5-10^8$ GeV. However, conventional SL (unflavoured) requires an unnaturally small soft supersymmetry(SUSY)-breaking bilinear $B \ll \mathcal{O}({\rm TeV})$ coupling for successful leptogenesis. On the other hand, in this regime, the interactions mediated by $τ$, $μ$ (and even $e$) charged lepton Yukawa interactions are in equilibrium, making the lepton number asymmetries and the washouts flavour dependent. Hence, it is crucial to take into account the flavour effects. Considering a gen…
We reveal the origin of the CP violation required by the leptogenesis in variously popular seesaw models. Especially we clarify that in a pure type-I/III seesaw with two fermion singlets/triplets, a combined type-I+III seesaw with one fermion singlet and one fermion triplet, or a combined type-I/III+II seesaw with one fermion singlet/triplet and one Higgs triplet, the CP violation for the leptogenesis can exactly come from the imaginary part of the neutrino mass matrix in a special basis where the Yukawa couplings involving one fermion singlet/triplet are allowed to get rid of any CP phases. W…
We discuss leptogenesis in the context of type-II seesaw in the case in which in addition to the scalar electroweak triplet decays the lepton asymmetry is also induced by right-handed neutrino decays (mild hierarchical scenarios). We show that within this setup, depending on the relative sizes of the relevant parameters, one can identify three classes of generic models, each one with its own consequences for leptogenesis.
We study thermal leptogenesis induced by decays of a scalar SU(2)_L triplet. Despite the presence of gauge interactions, unexpected features of the Boltzmann equations make the efficiency close to maximal in most of the parameter space. We derive the maximal CP asymmetry in triplet decays, assuming that it is generated by heavier sources of neutrino masses: in this case successful leptogenesis needs a triplet heavier than 2.8 10^{10} GeV and does not further restrict its couplings, allowing detectable mu --> e gamma, tau --> mu gamma rates in the context of supersymmetric models. Triplet masse…
We extend the standard model by three types of inert fields including Majorana fermion singlets/triplets, real Higgs singlets/triplets and leptonic Higgs doublets. In the presence of a softly broken lepton number and an exactly conserved Z_2 discrete symmetry, these inert fields together can mediate a one-loop diagram for a Majorana neutrino mass generation. The heavier inert fields can decay to realize a successful leptogenesis while the lightest inert field can provide a stable dark matter candidate. As an example, we demonstrate the leptogenesis by the inert Higgs doublet decays. We also pe…
Leptogenesis appears to be a viable alternative to account for the baryon asymmetry of the universe through baryogenesis. In this context, we consider a scenario in which the standard model is extended with $S_3$ and $Z_2$ symmetry in addition to the two scalar triplets, two scalar doublets and three right handed neutrinos. Presence of scalar triplets and right-handed neutrinos in the scenarios of both type-I and type-II seesaw framework provide a different leptogenesis option and can help us to understand the matter-antimatter asymmetry with simple $S_3$ symmetry. We discuss the neutrino phen…
We consider the minimal supersymmetric triplet seesaw model as the origin of neutrino masses and mixing as well as of the baryon asymmetry of the Universe, which is generated through soft leptogenesis employing a CP violating phase and a resonant behavior in the supersymmetry breaking sector. We calculate the full gauge--annihilation cross section for the Higgs triplets, including all relevant supersymmetric intermediate and final states, as well as coannihilations with the fermionic superpartners of the triplets. We find that these gauge annihilation processes strongly suppress the resulting …
We investigate the generation of the baryon asymmetry of the Universe within a SUSY SU(5) x T' model of flavour, which gives rise to realistic masses and mixing patterns for quarks and leptons. The model employs the see-saw mechanism for generation of the light neutrino masses and the baryon asymmetry is produced via leptogenesis. We perform detailed calculations of both the CP violating lepton asymmetries, originating from the decays of the heavy Majorana neutrinos operative in the see-saw mechanism, and of the efficiency factors which account for the lepton asymmetry wash-out processes in th…

We consider sub-TeV scale flavoured resonant leptogenesis within the minimal type-I seesaw scenario with two right-handed singlet neutrinos $N_{1,2}$ forming a pseudo-Dirac pair, concentrating on the case of masses of the pseudo-Dirac pair having values $M_{1,2} \lesssim 100$ GeV. The case when the CP violating asymmetries in the individual lepton charges $L_l$, $l=e,μ,τ$, and in the total lepton charge $L$ of the Universe are generated in $1 \leftrightarrow 2$ decay processes is investigated. We show that successful leptogenesis is possible for $M_{1,2}$ lying in the interval $M_{1,2} = (0.3 …
We calculate flavour dependent lepton asymmetries within the $E_6$ inspired Supersymmetric Standard Model ($\rm E_6SSM$), which has an extra $U(1)_N$ symmetry. In this model, the right-handed neutrino doesn't participate in gauge interactions, allowing it to be used for both the see--saw mechanism and leptogenesis. Extra Higgs, leptons and leptoquarks predicted by the E$_6$SSM contribute to the ordinary lepton CP asymmetries induced by the decays of the lightest right--handed neutrino (and sneutrino) and give rise to a set of extra decay asymmetries. We find that the CP asymmetries can be rela…
We systematically investigate constraints on the parameters of the supersymmetric type-I seesaw mechanism from the requirement of successful thermal leptogenesis in the presence of upper bounds on the reheat temperature $T_\mathrm{RH}$ of the early Universe. To this end, we solve the flavour-dependent Boltzmann equations in the MSSM, extended to include reheating. With conservative bounds on $T_\mathrm{RH}$, leading to mildly constrained scenarios for thermal leptogenesis, compatibility with observation can be obtained for extensive new regions of the parameter space, due to flavour-dependent …
A predictive Leptogenesis scenario is presented based on the Minimal Lepton Flavour Violation symmetry. In the realisation with three right-handed neutrinos transforming under the same flavour symmetry of the lepton electroweak doublets, lepton masses and PMNS mixing parameters can be described according to the current data, including a large Dirac CP phase. The observed matter-antimatter asymmetry of the Universe can be achieved through Leptogenesis, with the CP asymmetry parameter $\varepsilon$ described in terms of only lepton masses, mixings and phases, plus two real parameters of the low-…
The leptogenesis with supersymmetric Higgs triplets is studied in the light of experimental verification in the TeV region. The lepton number asymmetry appears just after the inflation via multiscalar coherent evolution of Higgs triplets and antislepton on a flat manifold. If the Higgs triplet mass terms dominate over the negative thermal-log term for the Hubble parameter H comparable to the Higgs triplet mass M_Δ, the asymmetry is fixed readily to some significant value by the redshift and rotation of these scalar fields, providing the sufficient lepton-to-entropy ratio n_L / s \sim 10^-10. T…
In this paper, we consider the possibility of generating the observed baryon asymmetry of the Universe via leptogenesis in the context of triplet fermion mediated type-III seesaw model of neutrino mass. With a hierarchical spectrum of the additional fermions, the lower bound on the lightest triplet mass is $\sim 10^{10} {\rm~GeV}$ for successful leptogenesis, a couple of orders higher than that of the type-I case. We investigate the possibility of lowering this bound in the framework of two-Higgs-doublet models. We find that the bounds can be lowered down to $10^7$ GeV for a hierarchical spect…
We study the impact of flavour in ``soft leptogenesis'' (leptogenesis induced by soft supersymmetry breaking terms). We address the question of how flavour effects can affect the region of parameters in which successful soft leptogenesis induced by CP violation in the right-handed sneutrino mixing is possible. We find that for decays which occur in the intermediate to strong washout regimes for all flavours, the produced total $B-L$ asymmetry can be up to a factor ${\cal O}(30)$ larger than the one predicted with flavour effects being neglected. This enhancement, permits slightly larger values…
We study the thermal leptogenesis in the scenario where the standard model is extended to include one $SU(2)_{L}$ triplet Higgs boson, in addition to three generations of the right-handed neutrinos. And in the model we introduce the coupling between the Quintessence and the right-handed neutrinos, the triplet Higgs boson, so that the light neutrino masses vary during the evolution of the universe. Assuming that the lepton number asymmetry is generated by the decays of the lightest right-handed neutrino $N_{1}$, we find the thermal leptogenesis can be characterized by four model independent par…
We reconsider the possibility that inflation was driven by a sneutrino - the scalar supersymmetric partner of a heavy singlet neutrino - in the minimal seesaw model of neutrino masses. We show that this model is consistent with data on the cosmic microwave background (CMB), including those from the WMAP satellite. We derive and implement the CMB constraints on sneutrino properties, calculate reheating and the cosmological baryon asymmetry arising via direct leptogenesis from sneutrino decays following sneutrino inflation, and relate them to light neutrino masses. We show that this scenario is …
Using the Closed-Time-Path approach, we perform a systematic leading order calculation of the relaxation rate of flavour correlations of left-handed Standard Model leptons. This quantity is of pivotal relevance for flavoured Leptogenesis in the Early Universe, and we find it to be 5.19*10^-3 T at T=10^7 GeV and 4.83*10^-3 T at T=10^13 GeV. These values apply to the Standard Model with a Higgs-boson mass of 125 GeV. The dependence of the numerical coefficient on the temperature T is due to the renormalisation group running. The leading linear and logarithmic dependencies of the flavour relaxati…
In the Type I see-saw model, the naturalness requirement that corrections to the electroweak $μ$ parameter not exceed 1 TeV results in a rough bound on the lightest right-handed neutrino mass, $M_{N_1}\lesssim 3\times 10^7$ GeV. In this letter we derive generic bounds applicable in any three-flavour Type I see-saw model. We find $M_{N_1}\lesssim 4\times 10^7$ GeV and $M_{N_2}\lesssim 7\times 10^7$ GeV. In the limit of one massless neutrino, there is no naturalness bound on $M_{N_3}$ in the Poincare protected decoupling limit. Our results confirm that no Type I see-saw model can explain the obs…
