We explicitly construct a configuration of ${\cal N}=4$ supersymmetry Yang-Mills theory with gauge group $U(N)$ on an interval on length $L$ with a D5-like boundary condition on one end and an NS5-like boundary condition on the other. For $N>1$, such a configuration violates the $s$-rule and is non-supersymmetric. We compute the energy relative to the BPS bound of these configurations and find that it is proportional to $N(N^2-1) g_{YM4}^{-2} L^{-3}$.

A Comment on the Topological Phase for Anti-Particles in a Lorentz-violating environment

Recently, a scheme to analyse topological phases in Quantum Mechanics by means of the non-relativistic limit of fermions non-minimally coupled to a Lorentz-breaking background has been proposed. In this letter, we show that the fixed background, responsible for the Lorentz-symmetry violation, may induce opposite Aharonov-Casher phases for a particle and its corresponding antiparticle. We then argue that such a difference may be used to investigate the asymmetry for particle/anti-particle as well as to propose bounds on the associated Lorentz-symmetry violating parameters.

One-loop Schwinger effect in the presence of Lorentz-violating background fields

In this work we make use of proper-time method to evaluate Schwinger effect in the presence of Lorentz-violating background fields. Specifically, we evaluate the one-loop effective Lagrangian in the presence of Lorentz-violating time-like vector background $b_μ$ and pseud-scalar $m_5$ for the pure electric case. The imaginary part of the effective Lagrangian is computed in order to calculate the Schwinger effect. Comments on phenomenology are also performed.

Comments on Good's Proposal for New Rules of Quantization

In a recent paper \cite{[Good1]} Good postulated new rules of quantization, one of the major features of which is that the quantum evolution of the wave function is always given by ordinary differential equations. In this paper we analyse the proposal in some detail and discuss its viability and its relationship with the standard quantum theory. N = 3 Weyl multiplet in four dimensions was first constructed in J van Muiden et al (2017) where the authors used the current multiplet approach to obtain the linearized transformation rules and completed the nonlinear variations using the superconformal algebra. Comment On Vortices In Chern-Simons And Maxwell Electrodynamics

We compare the vortex-like solutions of two different theories in (2+1) dimensions. In the first a nonrelativistic field self-interacts through a Chern-Simons gauge connection. It is $P$ and $T$ violating. The second is the standard Maxwell scalar electrodynamics. We show that for specific values of some parameters the same vortex-configurations provide solutions for both theories.

Comment on Dirac spectral sum rules for QCD_3

Recently Magnea hep-th/9907096 , hep-th/9912207 [Phys.Rev.D61, 056005 (2000); Phys.Rev.D62, 016005 (2000)] claimed to have computed the first sum rules for Dirac operators in 3D gauge theories from 0D non-linear sigma models. I point out that these computations are incorrect, and that they contradict with the exact results for the spectral densities unambiguously derived from random matrix theory by Nagao and myself.

The point-charge self-energy in a nonminimal Lorentz violating Maxwell Electrodynamics

In this letter we study the self-energy of a point-like charge for the electromagnetic field in a non minimal Lorentz symmetry breaking scenario in a $n+1$ dimensional space time. We consider two variations of a model where the Lorentz violation is caused by a background vector $d^ν$ that appears in a higher derivative interaction. The Källén-Lehmann representation for Lorentz-violating field theory

We consider field-theoretic models, one consisting purely of scalars, the other also involving fermions, that couple to a set of constant background coupling coefficients transforming as a symmetric observer Lorentz two-tensor. We show that the exact propagators can be cast in the form of a Källén-Lehmann representation. We work out the resulting form of the Feynman propagators and the equal-time field commutators, and derive sum rules for the spectral density functions.

(Field) Symmetrization Selection Rules

QCD and QED exhibit an infinite set of three-point Green's functions that contain only OZI rule violating contributions, and (for QCD) are subleading in the large N_c expansion. The Green's functions describe the ``decay'' of a J^{PC}={1,3,5 ...}^{-+} exotic hybrid meson current to two J=0 (hybrid) meson currents with identical P and C. We prove that the QCD amplitude for a neutral hybrid {1,3,5 ...}^{-+} exotic current to create eta pi0 only comes from OZI rule violating contributions under certain conditions, and is subleading in N_c.

On calculation of cross sections in Lorentz violating theories

We develop a systematic approach to the calculation of scattering cross sections in theories with violation of the Lorentz invariance taking into account the whole information about the theory Lagrangian. As an illustration we derive the Feynman rules and formulas for sums over polarizations in spinor electrodynamics with Lorentz violating operators of dimensions four and six. These rules are applied to compute the probabilities of several astrophysically relevant processes. Asymptotic single-particle states and exact Lorentz-violating all-loop quantum corrections for scalar field theory

We perform the all-loop renormalization of the O($N$) $λϕ^{4}$ scalar field theory with Lorentz violation which is exact in the Lorentz-violating $K_{μν}$ coefficients. This task is fulfilled analytically firstly explicitly at next-to-leading order and later at all loop levels through an induction process based on a general theorem emerging from the exact approach. Spontaneous Parity Violation in QCD At Finite Temperature: On the Inapplicability of the Vafa-Witten Theorem

The generalization of the Vafa-Witten theorem ruling out parity violation to QCD at finite temperature is considered. It is shown that this generalization of the theorem rules out Lorentz-invariant parity violating operators from spontaneously acquiring vacuum expectation values. However, it does not rule out Lorentz-noninvariant parity-violating operators from acquiring expectation values. Other situations where the theorem is inapplicable are also discussed.

Comments On The Two-Dimensional Landau-Ginzburg Approach To Link Homology

We describe rules for computing a homology theory of knots and links in $\mathbb{R}^3$. It is derived from the theory of framed BPS states bound to domain walls separating two-dimensional Landau-Ginzburg models with (2,2) supersymmetry. We illustrate the rules with some sample computations, obtaining results consistent with Khovanov homology.
