Very light gravitinos could be produced at a sizeable rate at colliders and have been searched for in the mono-photon or mono-jet plus missing momentum signature. Strategies for enhancing the signal over background and interpretations of the experimental results are typically obtained within an effective field theory approach where all SUSY particles except the gravitino are heavy and are not produced resonantly. We extend this approach to a simplified model that includes squarks and gluinos in the TeV range. In such a case, the jet(s)-plus-missing-momentum signature can be generated through three different concurring mechanisms: gravitino-pair production with an extra jet, associated gravitino production with a squark or a gluino, or squark/gluino pair production with their subsequent decay to a gravitino and a jet. By using a matrix-element parton-shower merging procedure, we take into account all the relevant production processes consistently, explore the SUSY parameter space with the LHC Run-I data set, and give prospects for the Run II. We also consider the reach of other signatures involving electroweak particles, e.g., the mono-photon, -Z, or -W plus missing momentum. The current mono-jet and mono-photon LHC analyses are interpreted to set a lower bound on the gravitino mass. We show how the limit of $m_{3/2}>1.7\times10^{-13}$ GeV obtained in the effective field theory hypothesis is modified when the squarks and/or the gluino are in the TeV range.
We reexamine the limits on the gravitino mass supplied by the muon anomaly in the frame of supergravity models with a superlight gravitino and a superlight scalar S and a superlight pseudoscalar P.
I review the constraints on the mass of gravitinos that follow from considerations on energy loss in stars and from Big Bang Nucleosynthesis arguments.
We derive the allowed mass range for the superlight gravitino present in a large class of supersymmetric models from the observed luminosity from Supernova 1987A. We find that for photino masses of order 100 GeV, the mass range $2.6\times 10^{-6} eV \leq m_{\tilde{g}} \leq 2.2\times 10^{-8} eV$ for the gravitino $\tilde{g}$ is excluded by SN1987A observations. Unlike the bounds on $m_{\tilde{g}}$ from nucleosynthesis, the bounds in the present paper do not depend critically on the uncertainties of the observational input.
Motivated by recent studies of supersymmetry in higher-dimensional spaces, we discuss the experimental signatures of a superlight gravitino, mass < 0.001 eV. We concentrate on the process (e- gamma -> selectronR gravitino) as a probe of supersymmetry, where a single heavy superpartner and a superlight gravitino are produced. The fact that there is only one heavy superpartner in the final state in this process would require a lower center-of-mass energy for on-shell production compared to conventional pair production. For instance, for a 500 GeV machine, we find that a positive signal will be f…
In supergravity models with low supersymmetry breaking scale the gravitinos can be superlight with mass in the micro-eV to keV range. In such a case, gravitino emission provides a new cooling mechanism for protoneutron stars and therefore can provide constraints on the mass of the superlight gravitino. This happens because the coupling to matter of superlight gravitinos is dominated by its goldstino component, whose coupling to matter is inversely proportional to the scale of supersymmetry breaking and increases as the gravitino mass decreases. Present observations therefore provide lower limi…
We perform a general analysis of the contributions to the muon anomalous magnetic moment in models with a superlight gravitino. We discuss the interpretation and the phenomenological implications of the results. We find that present constraints on the model parameters are comparable and complementary to the ones coming from collider searches and from perturbative unitarity. However, the Brookhaven E821 experiment will probe large unexplored regions of parameter space.
In some supergravity models, the superlight gravitino is accompanied by a light weakly coupled scalar (S) and pseudo-scalar (P) particle. The coupling of these particles to matter is inversely proportional to the product of the gravitino mass and the Planck mass. As a result, their emission from the stars and supernovae via the photon electron scattering reaction for certain ranges of the gravitino mass can become the dominant energy loss mechanism in contradiction with observations thereby ruling out those mass values for the gravitino. For scalar and/or pseudo-scalar masses between 10 MeV an…
We discuss the role of the effective interactions among four matter fermions in supersymmetric models with a very light gravitino. We show that, from a field-theoretical viewpoint, no model-independent bound on the gravitino mass can be derived from such interactions. Making use of a naturalness criterion, however, we are able to derive some interesting but not very stringent bounds, complementary to those obtained from the direct production of supersymmetric particles. We also show that, generically, masses for the spin-0 partners of the goldstino (sgoldstinos) of the order of the gravitino m…
If the gravitino G is very light and all the other supersymmetric particles are above threshold, supersymmetry may still be found at colliders, by looking at processes with only gravitinos and ordinary particles in the final state. We compute here the cross-section for the process e^+ e^- ==> G G gamma, whose final state can give rise to a distinctive photon plus missing energy signal at present and future e^+ e^- colliders. We describe how the present LEP data can be used to establish a lower bound on the gravitino mass of order 10^{-5} eV. We conclude with a critical discussion of our result…
The spectrum of single-photon events detected in the forward and in the barrel region of a TESLA linear collider detector was studied in order to investigate the production of superlight Gravitino pairs associated with a photon.
If the gravitino (G) is very light and all the other supersymmetric particles are above threshold, supersymmetry may still be found at colliders, by looking at processes with only gravitinos and ordinary particles in the final state. We compute here the cross-sections for some distinctive signals at hadron colliders: photon plus missing energy, induced by (q antiquark -> G G photon), and jet plus missing energy, induced by (q antiquark -> G G g), (q g -> G G q), and (g g -> G G g). From the present Tevatron data, we estimate the bound m_{3/2} > 2.3 10^-5 eV on the gravitino mass, corresponding…
We reanalyse the limits on the gravitino mass $m_{3/2}$ in superlight gravitino scenarios derived from arguments on energy-loss during gravitational collapse. We conclude that the mass range $10^{-6}eV\leq m_{3/2}\leq2.3\times10^{-5}eV$ is excluded by SN1987A data. In terms of the scale of supersymmetry breaking $Λ$, the range $70GeV\leqΛ\leq 300GeV$ is not allowed.
Supersymmetric (SUSY) standard models in which the lightest SUSY particle (LSP) is an ultralight gravitino (m_{3/2}=O(1) eV) are very attractive, since they are free from the cosmological gravitino problems. If the neutralino is the next lightest SUSY particle (NLSP), it decays into a photon and the gravitino in collider experiments. We propose a simple test for the lightness of gravitino at the LHC.
We study the jets plus missing energy signature at the LHC in a scenario where the gravitino is very light and the gluino is the next-to-lightest supersymmetric particle and promptly decays into a gluon and a gravitino. We consider both associated gravitino production with a gluino and gluino pair production. By merging matrix elements with parton showers, we generate inclusive signal and background samples and show how information on the gluino and gravitino masses can be obtained by simple final state observables.
We present the phenomenology of a supersymmetric model with sneutrino as the next to lightest supersymmetric particle (NLSP) in the gravitino dark matter scenario at the LHC. We focus on the leptonic signatures and study the feasibility of a particular trilepton signature as a possible discovery channel of supersymmetry.
In supersymmetric (SUSY) models with the gravitino being the lightest SUSY particle (LSP), the SUSY breaking scale (i.e., the gravitino mass) could be determined by measuring the lifetime of the next-to-lightest SUSY particle (NLSP). However, for an ultralight gravitino of mass of O(1) eV, which is favored cosmologically, the determination of the SUSY breaking scale, or the gravitino mass, is difficult because the NLSP decay length is too short to be measured directly. Recently we proposed a new determination of the gravitino mass by measuring a branching fraction of two decay modes of slepton…
Gravitino Dark Matter represents a compelling scenario in Supersymmetry, which brings together a variety of data from cosmology and collider physics. We discuss the constraints obtained from the LHC on supersymmetric models with gravitino dark matter and neutralino NLSP, which is the case most difficult to disentangle at colliders from a neutralino LSP forming DM. The phenomenological SUSY model with 19+1 free parameters is adopted. Results are obtained from broad scans of the phase space of these uncorrelated parameters. The relation between gravitino mass, gluino mass and reheating temperatu…
We have examined the capability of the LHC, running at both 7 and 8 TeV, to explore the 19(20)-dimensional parameter space of the pMSSM with neutralino(gravitino) LSPs and soft masses up to 4 TeV employing the ATLAS SUSY analysis suite. Here we present some preliminary results for the gravitino model set, following the ATLAS analyses whose data were publically available as of mid-September 2012. We find that the impact of the reduced MET, resulting from models with gravitino LSPs on sparticle searches is more than off-set by the detectability of the many possible long-lived NLSPs.
We consider supersymmetric (SUSY) models in which a very light gravitino is the lightest SUSY particle. Assuming that a neutralino is the next-to-lightest SUSY particle, we present a measurement of the neutralino mass at the LHC in two photons + missing energy events, which is based on the MT2 method. It is a direct measurement of the neutralino mass itself, independent of other SUSY particle masses and patterns of cascade decays before the neutralino is produced.
The low-scale gauge mediation scenario of supersymmetry breaking predicts very light gravitino, which makes the next lightest supersymmetric particle (NLSP) quasi stable. We study the LHC phenomenology of the case that the NLSP is the stau. When the mass of the gravitino is of the order of 10eV, the decay length of stau is about 0.1--1 mm, so that it decays before reaching the first layer of the inner silicon detector. We show, however, that, with utilizing the impact parameter of tau-jets from the stau decay, it is possible to determine the mass spectrum of sparticles precisely. It is also po…
After a period of inflationary expansion, the Universe reheated and reached full thermal equilibrium at the reheating temperature. In this talk, based on the paper, arXiv:0710.3349, we point out that, in the context of effective low-energy supersymmetric models, LHC measurements may allow one to determine reheating temperature as a function of the mass of the dark matter particle assumed to be either an axino or a gravitino. An upper bound on their mass and on the reheating temperature may also be derived.
We derive Feynman rules for the interactions of a single gravitino with (s)quarks and gluons/gluinos from an effective supergravity Lagrangian in non-derivative form and use them to calculate the hadroproduction cross sections and decay widths of single gravitinos. We confirm the results obtained previously with a derivative Lagrangian as well as those obtained with the non-derivative Lagrangian in the high-energy limit and elaborate on the connection between gauge independence and the presence of quartic vertices. We perform extensive numerical studies of branching ratios, total cross section…
Supersymmetric scenarios where the lightest superparticle (LSP) is the gravitino are an attractive alternative to the widely studied case of a neutralino LSP. A strong motivation for a gravitino LSP arises from the possibility of achieving higher reheating temperatures and thus potentially allow for thermal leptogenesis. The predictions for the primordial abundances of light elements in the presence of a late decaying next-to-LSP (NSLP) as well as the currently measured dark matter abundance allow us to probe the cosmological viability of such a scenario. Here we consider a gravitino-stau scen…
The photon plus missing energy signature is a primary handle on two important classes of theories. Theories with large extra dimensions predict the production of photons in association with Kaluza-Klein excitations of the graviton. In supersymmetric theories with superlight gravitinos, photons can be produced in association with gravitino pairs. The signatures for these two theories are compared, and it is found that they can be distinguished by studying the photon energy distributions and scaling of the cross section with center-of-mass energy. Both these methods fail, however, if there are s…
If the scalar tau $\stau$ is the next lightest supersymmetric particle and decays into a gravitino ($\gravitino$) being the lightest supersymmetric particle, it will have generally a very long lifetime. In this paper, we investigate the possibility to study the decay of such a long lived scalar tau at the LHC. If we can add to the present LHC experiments additional detectors which are able to stop the stau particles and measure the produced decay products, the decay characteristics can be studied precisely at the LHC. We identify a maximum "stopper detector" that could be added in the CMS cave…
Using the latest LHC data, we analyse and compare the lower limits on the masses of gluinos and the lightest stop in two natural supersymmetric motivated scenarios: one with a neutralino being the lightest supersymmetric particle (LSP) and the other one with gravitino as the LSP and neutralino as the next-to-lightest supersymmetric particle. In the second case our analysis applies to neutralinos promptly decaying to very light gravitinos, which are of cosmological interest, and are generic for low, of order O(100) TeV, messenger scale in gauge mediation models. We find that the lower bounds on…
We study low-scale gauge mediated supersymmetry breaking models with a very light gravitino of mass $\mathcal{O}(1)$ eV. The cosmological upper bound on the gravitino mass and the collider constraints on the sparticle masses give a significant impact on such models. We apply the latest results of the LHC to these models and obtain the current constraints. We find that perturbatively calculable classes of low-scale gauge mediation models can be largely excluded.
We consider scenarios of gravitino LSP and DM with stop NLSP both within R-parity conserving and R-parity violating supersymmetry (RPC and RPV SUSY, respectively). We discuss cosmological bounds from Big Bang Nucleosynthesis (BBN) and the gravitino abundance and then concentrate on the signals of long-lived stops at the LHC as displaced vertices or metastable particles. Finally we discuss how to distinguish R-parity conserving and R-parity breaking stop decays if they happen within the detector and suppress SM backgrounds.
The presence of high reheating temperatures in the thermal history of the universe challenges supersymmetric scenarios owing to the gravitino problem. We revise a general R-parity conserving gravitino dark matter scenario with a stau as the next-to-lightest superparticle being particularly constrained by searches for heavy stable charged particles at the LHC. Imposing a variety of experimental and theoretical constraints we show that points with T_R > 10^9 GeV survive only in a very particular corner of parameter space.
We investigate how late-time entropy production weakens the Big-Bang Nucleosynthesis (BBN) constraints on the gravitino as lightest superparticle with a charged slepton as next-to-lightest superparticle. We find that with a moderate amount of entropy production, the BBN constraints can be eluded for most of the parameter space relevant for the discovery of the gravitino. This is encouraging for experimental tests of supergravity at LHC and ILC.
We investigate the possibility of probing high reheating temperature scenarios at the LHC, in supersymmetric models where the gravitino is the lightest supersymmetric particle, and the stau is the next-to-lightest supersymmetric particle. In such scenarios, the big-bang nucleosynthesis and the gravitino abundance give a severe upper bound on the gluino mass. We find that, if the reheating temperature is \sim 10^8 GeV or higher, the scenarios can be tested at the LHC with an integrated luminosity of O(1 fb^{-1}) at \sqrt{s}=7 TeV in most of the parameter space.
We examine resonant slepton production at the LHC with gravitinos in the final state. The slepton undergoes gauge decay into a neutralino and a lepton, the neutralino decays into a photon and a gravitino. By measuring the transverse masses of the gamma- G and the l-gamma- G subsystems it is possible to accurately reconstruct both the slepton and neutralino masses. In some regions of parameter space the slepton decays directly into a lepton and gravitino, giving an identical experimental topology to W production (l missing E_T). We present the novel matrix element squared for lepton-gravitino p…
If the minimal supersymmetric standard model is the solution to the hierarchy problem, the scalar top quark (stop) and the Higgsino should weigh around the electroweak scale such as 200 GeV. A low messenger scale, which results in a light gravitino, is also suggested to suppress the quantum corrections to the Higgs mass parameters. Therefore the minimal model for natural supersymmetry is a system with stop/Higgsino/gravitino whereas other superparticles are heavy. We study the LHC signatures of the minimal system and discuss the discovery potential and methods for the mass measurements.
We present a solution to the gravitino problem, which arises in the NMSSM, allowing for sparticle spectra from ordinary gravity-mediated supersymmetry breaking with weak-scale gravitino dark matter. The coupling, which links the singlet to the MSSM sector, enhances the tree-level Higgs mass, providing an attractive explanation why the observed Higgs boson is so heavy. The same coupling induces very efficient pair-annihilation processes of the neutralino NLSP. Its relic abundance can be sufficiently suppressed to satisfy the strong constraints on late decaying relics from primordial nucleosynth…
If supersymmetry is broken at TeV scale, particles from sector responsible for supersymmetry breaking - goldstino and sgoldstinos - can reveal themselves already at the LHC experiments. We discuss bounds on supersymmetry breaking scale from the LHC searches for events with a jet plus missing momentum signature focusing on the case of TeV scale sgoldstinos. We show that contribution of light sgoldstinos to the cross section of of gravitino pair production with a jet can be sizable and the bounds on the gravitino mass can be stronger by up to a factor of 2 as compared to those obtained in the he…
The recent measurements of the cosmological parameter $H_0$ from the direct local observations and the inferred value from the Cosmic Microwave Background show $\sim 4 σ$ discrepancy. This may indicate new physics beyond the standard $Λ$CDM. We investigate the keV gravitino dark matter that has a small fraction of non-thermal component (e.g. from the late decay of NLSP bino) under various cosmological constraints. We find such a scenario is highly predictive and can be tested by searching for the dilepton plus missing energy events at the LHC. Besides, we also discuss its implication for Hubbl…
In split-supersymmetry (split-SUSY), gluino is a metastable particle and thus can freeze out in the early universe. The late decay of such a long-life gluino into the lightest supersymmetric particle (LSP) may provide much of the cosmic dark matter content. In this work, assuming the LSP is gravitino produced from the late decay of the metastable gluino, we examine the WMAP dark matter constraints on the gluino mass. We find that to provide the full abundance of dark matter, the gluino must be heavier than about 14 TeV and thus not accessible at the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC).
In supergravity where the gravitino is the lightest supersymmetric particle (LSP), the next-to-lightest supersymmetric particle (NLSP) decays to the gravitino with a naturally long lifetime (10^4 - 10^8). However, cosmological constraints favour charged sleptons with lifetimes below a year as the natural NLSP candidate. For this scenario we report a method to accurately determine the slepton lifetime and SUSY cross-section from observation of the decays of sleptons trapped in the material comprising the main detector (ATLAS, CMS). A measurement of the lifetime to 5% is possible after 3 years a…
The `$μ$ from $ν$' supersymmetric standard model ($μν$SSM) solves the $μ$ problem of supersymmetric models and reproduces neutrino data, simply using couplings with the three families of right-handed neutrinos $ν$'s. Novel signatures of supersymmetry at the LHC are expected through these new states, and couplings breaking $R$ parity. All supersymmetric particles are potential candidates for the lightest one, which is not stable leading to prompt or displaced vertices and producing final states with multi-leptons/taus/jets/photons and missing energy. Besides, a decaying gravitino turns out to b…
We investigate the LHC sensitivity to supersymmetric models with light higgsinos, small R-parity breaking and gravitino dark matter. The limits on decaying gravitino dark matter from gamma-ray searches with the Fermi-LAT put a lower bound on the higgsino-like neutralino NLSP decay length, giving rise to a displaced-vertex collider signature. Using publicly available tools for simulation of signal, background and detector response, we find that higgsinos with masses of 100-400 GeV and R-parity violation of approximately 10^-8 to 10^-9 can show up in the 8 TeV LHC data with 10-30 fb^-1 of integr…
We demonstrate that the lightest chargino can be lighter than the lightest neutralino in supersymmetric models with Dirac gaugino masses as well as within a curious parameter region of the MSSM. Given also a light gravitino, such as from low scale supersymmetry breaking, this mass hierarchy leads to an unusual signal where every superpartner cascades down to a chargino that decays into an on-shell W and a gravitino, possibly with a macroscopic chargino track. We clearly identify the region of parameters where this signal can occur. We find it is generic in the context of the R-symmetric supers…
We present a phenomenological study of Dirac electroweakinos in a $U(1)_R$ extension of the MSSM with a strictly $R$-symmetric Higgs sector (MRSSM) and gauge-mediated supersymmetry breaking. One of the distinguishing features of the MRSSM is that the lightest chargino can be lighter than the lightest neutralino. Decays from the NLSP chargino to the gravitino LSP will produce exotic signals. We apply LHC-13 mass limits from both prompt and long-lived searches to the chargino NLSP regime of the MRSSM. Imposing the additional constraints coming from the 125 GeV Higgs and from the electroweak sect…
We investigate the measurement of supersymmetric particle masses at the LHC in gravitino dark matter (GDM) scenarios where the next-to-lightest supersymmetric partner (NLSP) is the lighter scalar tau, or stau, and is stable on the scale of a detector. Such a massive metastable charged sparticle would have distinctive Time-of-Flight (ToF) and energy-loss ($dE/dx$) signatures. We summarise the documented accuracies expected to be achievable with the ATLAS detector in measurements of the stau mass and its momentum at the LHC. We then use a fast simulation of an LHC detector to demonstrate techniq…
We studied previously the impact on light-element abundances of gravitinos decaying during or after Big-Bang nucleosynthesis (BBN). We found regions of the gravitino mass m_{3/2} and abundance zeta_{3/2} plane where its decays could reconcile the calculated abundance of Li7 with observation without perturbing the other light-element abundances unacceptably. Here we revisit this issue in light of LHC measurements of the Higgs mass and constraints on supersymmetric model parameters, as well as updates in the astrophysical measurements of light-element abundances. In addition to the constrained m…
In the framework of the CMSSM we study the gravitino as the lightest supersymmetric particle and the dominant component of cold dark matter in the Universe. We include both a thermal contribution to its relic abundance from scatterings in the plasma and a non--thermal one from neutralino or stau decays after freeze--out. In general both contributions can be important, although in different regions of the parameter space. We further include constraints from BBN on electromagnetic and hadronic showers, from the CMB blackbody spectrum and from collider and non--collider SUSY searches. The region …
If the lightest observable-sector supersymmetric particle (LOSP) is charged and long-lived, then it may be possible to indirectly measure the Planck mass at the LHC and provide a spectacular confirmation of supergravity as a symmetry of nature. Unfortunately, this proposal is only feasible if the gravitino is heavy enough to be measured at colliders, and this condition is in direct conflict with constraints from big bang nucleosynthesis (BBN). In this work, we show that the BBN bound can be naturally evaded in the presence of multiple sectors which independently break supersymmetry, since ther…
We investigate the possibility of testing supergravity unified models with scalar masses in the range 50-100 TeV and much lighter gaugino masses at the Large Hadron Collider. The analysis is carried out under the constraints that models produce the Higgs boson mass consistent with experiment and also produce dark matter consistent with WMAP and PLANCK experiments. A set of benchmarks in the supergravity parameter space are investigated using a combination of signal regions which are optimized for the model set. It is found that some of the models with scalar masses in the 50-100 TeV mass range…
Search for compressed supersymmetry at multi-TeV scale, in the presence of a light gravitino dark matter, can get sizable uplift while looking into the associated fat-jets with missing transverse momenta as a signature of the boson produced in the decay process of much heavier next-to-lightest sparticle. We focus on the hadronic decay of the ensuing Higgs and/or $Z$ boson giving rise to at least two fat-jets and $\slashed{E}_T$ in the final state. We perform a detailed background study adopting a multivariate analysis using a boosted decision tree to provide a robust investigation to explore t…
We consider pair-production of electroweakinos promptly decaying to light gravitinos in general gauge mediation scenarios within the minimal supersymmetric standard model. Typically the presence of photons and missing transverse momentum is the key signature for this kind of scenarios. We highlight where LHC analyses which have originally been designed to probe different scenarios provide complementary constraints with respect to the dedicated searches and we present the constraints on the parameter space.
We study the decay of a standard model-like Higgs boson into a gravitino and a neutralino, which subsequently decays promptly into another gravitino and a photon. Such a decay can be important in scenarios where the supersymmetry breaking scale is of the order of a few TeV, and in the region of low transverse momenta of the photon, it may provide the dominant contribution to the final state with a photon and two gravitinos. We estimate the relevant standard model backgrounds and the prospects for discovering this Higgs decay through a photon and missing transverse energy signal at the LHC in t…
Very light gravitino scenario m_{3/2} < 16 eV is very interesting, since there is no cosmological problem. However in such a scenario, stability of the vacuum is an important issue. Recently, Yonekura and one of the authors RS have investigated the parameter space of a low scale gauge mediation with a perturbatively stable vacuum and found that there are severe upper bound on the gaugino masses. In this paper, we show that such a model can be completely excluded/discovered at very early stage of the LHC run.
We consider models of Pure Gravity Mediation in which scalar mass universality is imposed at the grand unified scale and gaugino masses are generated through loops. The minimal model requires a very restricted range for $\tan β\approx 2-3$ and scalar masses (set by the gravitino mass) of order 300 TeV - 1.5 PeV in order to obtain a Higgs mass near 126 GeV. Here we augment the minimal model with one or more sets of vector multiplets (either a ${10}$ and $\bar {10}$ pair or one or more $5$ and $\bar 5$ pairs). If coupled to the MSSM Higgs, these allow for radiative electroweak symmetry breaking …
We study a distinct supersymmetric signal of multi-photons in association with jets and missing transverse energy. At least one of these photons has the origin in displaced vertex, thus delayed and non-pointing. We consider a supersymmetric scenario in which the gravitino is the lightest supersymmetric particle (LSP) (with a mass $\sim 1~{keV}$) and the lightest neutralino is the next-to-lightest supersymmetric particle (NLSP). The NLSP decays dominantly into a photon and a gravitino within the detector with a decay length ranging from $cτ_{\tildeχ}\sim$ 50-100 cm. In addition, we assume that …
We study the possibility of observing the stau signal at LHC in case that the gravitino is the lightest supersymmetric particle and the stau is the next lightest supersymmetric particle in high reheating temperature scenario. We show that a number of stau signals can be observed at LHC for $\sqrt{s}=7 {\rm TeV}$ and an integrated luminosity of $1 {\rm fb}^{-1}$ in most of the parameter region for the reheating temperature $T_R\gsim{\cal O}(10^8) {\rm GeV}$. We also show that the parameter region with $T_R\gsim2\times10^9 {\rm GeV}$, which is consistent with the thermal leptogenesis, is all cov…
Presence of the light gravitino as dark matter candidate in a supersymmetric (SUSY) model opens up interesting collider signatures consisting of one or more hard photons together with multiple jets and missing transverse energy from the cascade decay. We investigate such signals at the 13 TeV LHC in presence of compressed SUSY spectra, consistent with the Higgs mass as well as collider and dark matter constraints. We analyse and compare the discovery potential in different benchmark scenarios consisting of both compressed and uncompressed SUSY spectra, considering different levels of compressi…
We study models of gauge mediated SUSY breaking with more than one hidden sector. In these models the neutralino sector of the MSSM is supplemented with additional light neutral fermions, the nearly massless gravitino and the massive pseudo-goldstini. For the case where the Bino is the lightest ordinary SUSY particle, its preferred decay is to a photon and the heaviest pseudo-goldstino, which generically cascades down to lighter pseudo-goldstini, or to the gravitino, in association with photons. This gives rise to multiphoton plus missing energy signatures at the LHC. We investigate in detail …
Among various supersymmetric (SUSY) standard models, the gravity mediation model with a neutralino LSP and the gauge mediation model with a very light gravitino are attractive from the cosmological view point. These models have different scales of SUSY breaking and their underlying physics in high energy is quite different. However, if the sparticles' decay into the gravitino is prompt in the latter case, their collider signatures can be similar: multiple jets and missing transverse momentum. In this paper, we study the discrimination between these models in minimal cases at the LHC based on t…
The exclusive gamma-met signal has a small standard model cross-section and is thus a good channel in which to look for signs of new physics. This signature is predicted by models with a superlight gravitino or with large extra spatial dimensions. We search for such signals at the CDF detector at the Tevatron, using 87 pb^-1 of data at sqrt(s) = 1.8 TeV, and extract 95% C.L. limits on these processes. A limit of 221 GeV is set on the scale |F|^{1/2} in supersymmetry models. For 4, 6, and 8 extra dimensions, limits on the fundamental mass scale M_D of 549, 581, and 602 GeV, respectively, are fo…
We evaluate the supersymmetry reach of the Large Hadron Collider within the gauge-mediated low energy supersymmetry breaking framework, assuming that a neutralino is the second lightest sparticle and that it decays promptly into a gravitino which escapes detection. We find that the maximum reach is obtained via a search for inclusive $γγ+\eslt$ events coming dominantly from chargino and neutralino production. Assuming an integrated luminosity of 10~$fb^{-1}$, we find that LHC experiments will be able to probe values of the model parameter $Λ\alt 400$ TeV, corresponding to $m_{\tg} \leq 2.8$ Te…
